          Didyme knew that something had gone wrong before they had even returned. She always counted every day they were gone, and the longer that time grew the more worried she became. When finally they were back, she heard Caius raging through the halls, his anger palpable. Aro had simply retreated to his study. But it was in her husbands eyes that she saw how horrible things must have went. She wanted to ask what had happened, but there would be time for that later. The relief of having him here in front of her, safe and whole, nearly overwhelmed her. She leaned her face into his touch, eyes closing for a brief moment, sending a silent thank you to whichever god might be listening that he had come back to her.

          Opening her eyes, she looked up at him, studying his expression worriedly. When he pulled her close, she eagerly went forward, resting her head on his chest. Her small hands clutched at him as if he might pull away. It took a moment for the depth of his words to sink in. Just a few words, spoken so softly, said so much and managed to catch her completely by surprise. She pulled back, just enough that she could look up at his face.  “Do you mean it?”  They had spoke of this before, but only briefly. Never with any finality.

          Aro had stressed to her the importance of Caius joining the coven. He and Marcus had been gone a while, meeting with the other vampire, before sending word back that they were returning with him. Though they had returned the day before, Didyme was only just now meeting the man. She found herself nervous as she stood face to face with tall blonde, but she knew well how to hide those nerves under a disguise of polite calmness. Hands clasped in front of her as she smiled up at him.  “You must be Caius. It’s a pleasure to meet you, my brother has told me many great things about you.”

MODERN: Didyme never died, she stayed alongside Marcus as part of the Volturi throughout the years. Because of this, the wives have more freedom and are not kept in the tower. Didyme does have her own personal guards. ( I’ve seen it all. I’ve seen the dark. // didyme verse )

HUMAN: Modern day, human au. Didyme is an aspiring artist who works at a local art museum. She studied art history in college. And is happily married to Marcus. ( only human // didyme verse ) 

NOMAD: [ rare verse; would prefer to plot before interacting in this verse ] Didyme was not killed by Aro, but horribly injured. She managed to escape but it took a long time for her to heal. Since then she has been living in hiding, waiting for Aro to show any sign of weakness so she can return.  ( those who wander // didyme verse )
