This was the email that was sent out the morning after the event. I had already edited all the images I shot and decided to send them over to Shelique so she could view them and send any feedback. I did this Via WeTransfer and emailed her notifying her.

Professional Practice- 

First placement event.

Prior to the event starting the organiser had sent the creative team a timetable of what we should expect and what she wanted us to capture specifically. I arrived early to the event and settled into the venue before the organiser turning up and briefing us. As it was my job to capture the artists and their performance and there was no backstage area and only one artist did a soundcheck I had to wait until showtime to shoot. The event overran by more than an hour and I had to leave before the last performer. I spoke with the organiser and she said this was fine. I found this really disappointing as I wanted to make the best impression and obviously fulfil the brief which was to photograph all the performances but I was left with no choice , due to the dis-organisation of the event. The event space was small but had direct lighting toward the performing space so i knew I didn't need to use flash which can sometimes put off a performer if in a small space. To achieve the best quality photographs I shot with the lowest ISO possible and had a low aperture lens to compensate for the dark surroundings. I felt prepared for all scenarios, having a spare SD card and battery as well as batteries for my removable flash. 

Hours worked: 5 hr in venue

Mathew Shave Studio Trip

We went a visited Mathews Studio and he gave us a tour but also sat down and gave us a short talk about what was expected from placement work and how he runs his placements at the studio. He also gave us an insight into how he became as successful in the photography industry as he is and how much work he did to get there. He made an emphasis on believing in your work and having passion as well as a business mind when it comes to working in photography.

Major Project 2

First tutorial with Eileen 

We spoke about my submission for MP1 and where to go forward with my ideas from there . I feel very confident about one shot which I feel would be ideal for my final piece but ideally I would want to print and frame 3 as a total. Also looking at my ideas with the display of online or on a phone as a exhibition instalment.

Professional Practice

As the placement with JustBrit Music is flexible and doesn't have anymore concrete events that they need me for just yet the smart thing to do is to look at other placements. Ideally A placement with a fashion photographer would be ideal and I have my eye on Mathew Shave and Diana Gomez. 

First I need to Update my Cv with Adele and then apply.

Here is the brief for the event, with my specific actions on it which is really helpful to know and understand exactly what the company expects from my work on the night.

I got the placement with Just Brit music! which is super exciting their first event in which they need me to photograph is on the 13th of february 2020 in Camden London.  I have asked for more information on the type of event and wether I will have access to the entire event, whether flash is allowed in the venue and a timeline of the artists etc.

Just Brit Interview

To prep for the interview I researched the company and what they do and stand for the have a background of their aim. I also prepared some answers to potential questions that I thought might be said, for example - what experience in live vents do you have, are you prepared for a quick turn around on edits etc. 

The actual interview was quite informal and casual, but I made sure to present myself professionally and to always introduce myself and greet the interviewer with a handshake as i feel its polite. The whole interview was about 10 minutes to which the interviewer spoke about what she would need for the position and I come back with relevant experience and strengths of mine from the first session to hypothetically show her what I would do it specific situations. I was really nervous but faked a little confidence to give the appearance that I was sure of myself and my skills but not over confident. 

Overall I was really happy with how the interview went and again as i left thanked the interviewer for her time and shook her hand. The only thing I wish I did do was give her a copy of my business card .

Application

For this placement a CV wasn't needed but a cover letter explaining your passion for photography and the position being an events photographer.

Professional Practice

Before applying to any placements I decided to get to know myself and my strengths and weaknesses. Therefore to work on my weaknesses but to also showcase my strengths in placement interviews. I ended up doing 64% of the online tests on engage plus to get an insight of what I was lacking and where i was doing well. The main aspects I lacked were in self assertiveness,extravertism and self confidence- and my strengths were in leadership roles, motivation and skill based work, independent learning.
