Camp Chaos

‘On the grand list of things I’m willing to do today, waking up is so not one of them,’ Raya thought as she woke up to her Ba loudly talking on the phone. Since Sisu was picking her up today, Raya decided to just lay motionlessly on the bed until the last possible second.

Sisu all but tackled Raya on the bed and shook her with all her might. And considering the fact that Sisu is only like five feet, she was actually quite strong. “Rise, Raya! And experience the joys of wild children running around on this fine day with me!” the blue haired girl proclaimed. Raya whined and reluctantly got up.

After arriving at camp, the first thing Raya did was grab herself some coffee. Unfortunately, Princess Undercut herself was already there in the flesh. Since it was too early in the morning to start shit, Raya simply pretended the other girl didn’t exist and snatched her coffee faster than the speed of light.

Raya’s day became so incredibly hectic right from the start. First off, a couple of the little girls still didn’t seem to be quite over their little feud from yesterday. Then, a different pair of her campers started beefing at the end of the day and I mean COME ON! These kids are SIX! How could they possibly already have so much drama in their lives so early on? To top it all off, Raya has been completely unable to find her airpods that she lost. Her Ba wasn’t that mad, after all things happened, but he was still going to make this a whole lesson about the value of money and why we need to take good care of our things. Needless to say, Raya just wanted to curl in bed and be dead to the world.

“Dewdrop I have something to tell you before I forget,” her Ba told her. Raya faced and raised an eyebrow asking, “what’s up Ba?” Benja cleared his throat a little and began to speak once more. “Well long story short you’re going to be taking a ride home with Namaari today,” her ba told her.

Raya blinked once. Twice. A third time for good measure. “I’m sorry say that again,” she told her ba in slight irritation. Benja sighed and said “I’m sorry dewdrop, but I’ve got to do some work and Sisu is picking up Jagan from basketball practice. And not to worry, Namaari already said she was fine with it.” Raya sighed in irritation. ‘Of course the little binturi would love to do something I would hate’ the tired girl thought.

Raya just sucked it up and walked over to Namaari. “I heard you were my ride on this fine afternoon. We heading out or what?” Raya asked. Namaari chuckled and said, “well someone’s eager to be alone with me. Just hop in the car I’ll be in in a second.” Raya simply rolled her eyes and walked into the car and slammed the door a little for dramatic effects.

Namaari finally got into the car and started driving. “So was your day as fantastic as mine? One of my boys threw himself in a pile of mud and almost got me to go with him,” Namaari told her, grinning. Raya laughed and shook her head. “Oh god my day was definitely as good as yours. I’ll never understand how kids can start beef so quickly in such a short amount of time. It has to be a gift or something. Losing my damned air pods didn’t help either. I still have a spare pair at my house so it’s definitely not the end of the world, but it certainly puts a damper on the mood,” Raya sighed. Namaari hummed in agreement after taking a rather sharp turn.

“Yeah that does sound pretty damn amazing. I was also wondering if you were going to be at the camp during that extended stay on Thursday,” Namaari questioned. Raya nodded in response. “Oh yeah my Ba wouldn’t let me miss it for the world. I’ll be running those crafts like there is no tomorrow,” Raya replied. Namaari laughed as she pulled up to Raya’s house. The shorter girl found that she didn’t actually want to stop talking with Namaari. The very thought that she enjoyed the undercut’s company disturbed her greatly.

“Well thanks for the ride and I’ll see you tomorrow,” Raya said as she got up to leave. Namaari put a hand on her arm to stop her. “Hold on one second,” Namaari told her. While confused, Raya still complied and sat patiently as Namaari whipped out some sunscreen.

The taller girl leaned in and gently applied the sunscreen to Raya’s face. “You’ve been getting burned this week, dep la. You’ve gotta put on more sunscreen. Or you could always come to me. I’m more than happy to do this for you,” Namaari told her. Suddenly Raya was incredibly red, and it wasn’t from the sun.

Raya all but leaped out of the car in panic. “WELL THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE SUNCREEN AND RIDE ILL SEE YOU LATER UNDERCUT,” Raya yelled and sprinted to get inside her house. She tried desperately to calm her rapidly beating heart.

Oh spirits, Raya is in so much trouble.
