well we know from canon that even without humanity, damon can & will listen to taylor swift without complaint. even though he’s perfectly capable of compelling a music change.

& he listens to depeche mode so he’s automatically cool.

i think the salvatores have very wide tastes, but not much overlap. stefan loves bon jovi to an unhealthy degree, and would probably have been a BIG beach boys fan back in the day. he’s totally over it now though, those records in his cupboard are purely decorative!! damon would love ABBA, head over heels reminds him of katherine & he uses it to outsource his emotions in his no humanity era. stefan tolerates it for lexi’s sake (damon thinks it’s unfortunate that he and lexi have similar music taste. it’s probably the only thing he likes about her). also the cure.

i think stefan cries to bon iver’s ‘roslyn’.

both stefan and damon would be into stevie nicks & florence + the machine & paramore & david bowie (damon in fact knew him rather well back in the seventies…) but in totally different ways. damon loves anthems & grooves, discordant sounds and triplet beats, while stefan digs a good beat & steady rhythm. with a fabulous guitar riff ofc.

bonnie is also a big paramore girly. also hozier. i think she and damon bond over similar music tastes.

caroline listens to taylor swift (fearless is her fav, red & 1989 are 2&3), one direction, jonas brothers, miley, britney etc. she bullies politely asks jeremy to let her use his tech stuff to make her own mixes. she also has a hot pink boombox that she takes to every cheer practice. it’s covered in stickers that won’t come off no matter how hard she tries. yes, vampire strength has been applied.

elena spent the three months between the crash & stefan blasting dean lewis in her bedroom. hozier, bon jovi to seem cool to stefan, janis joplin, probably some british pop like dexys midnight runners, ed sheeran, bastille. but that’s a secret she’ll take to her grave.

jeremy listens to 21 pilots, mcr, p!atd, bleachers (later seasons tho. don’t think they existed til 2015 or something), the neighbourhood, arctic monkeys, fallout boy, etc. probably listens to sheppard on repeat. geronimo just really speaks to him, okay?! absolutely does not copy damon’s taste in music, that’s just a coincidence!!! he’s also the source of elena’s secret love for british pop.

matt listens to elevator music. nah he just plays whatever’s on the radio. my truck is my girlfriend & my dog has fleas kind of country music? idk.

tyler has all of those mix cds like sofresh, each 00s / 90s genre, really does not care what he listens to as long as he can nod his head along.

alaric listens to 80s rock in a dad way & whatever damon plays because damon has dj rights everywhere & will push his way onto the aux.

kol also listens to smooth jazz, but in a cool way. as well as 00s pop. he and rebekah fight over who discovered what song first. he would absolutely LOVE musicals. has the glee & hamilton soundtracks on his little ipod. elijah listens to eight hour long symphonies and concertas, but won’t complain if one of the others is hogging the aux. he will not be so childish as to dagger his siblings over music disputes, (klaus), or break their arms (rebekah), thank you very much. he only demands control of the music when damon’s trying to seduce him (succeeding), because elijah knows how to woo & be wooed in return. that includes the romantic playlist. also, damon has a very annoying habit of singing along & playing air guitar when the bridge hits just right, usually whilst there is a cock in his ass.

finn likes renaissance fair music. he considers it to be contemporary, as he was daggered during this period.

Damon

Didn't think that mates existed but then again, here you are, surprising him in more ways than one and he's seen a lot of things. You tried talking to him about it at first after learning about your connection, but that didn't work. What else was he supposed to do other than run away and pretend like he was never informed of your connection, stay? No, no, no because, that is not the Damon way... at least, not until you threaten to use all his bourbon as a flame retardant to burn down their house. He slowly becomes a little more lenient in building a stronger bond. When you two get closer and become a couple, he never looks back because, you are his everything which means he will do whatever he can or needs to do in order to protect you because too much happens in this damned town

Stefan

He knew deep down that even though he loved Elena, it wasn't always going to last with the way it was between her and his brother. Even with their destiny tied them together; they never lasted. And to think his life was dramatic and chaotic then but now, you come into his life, almost as if out of nowhere was even crazier. Finding out that his epic love actually came from a place of fate, someone who could complete him and make him feel whole...was interesting, to say the least. He didn't know what to expect but he knew right away there was something special about you and always wanted to know more about you (before the whole mates' thing came about). After getting together, he realized he's more honored to be your mate and knows it's better than anything he's had before

Elena

She hoped that she'd find the one person she knew she was meant to be with because of watching how her parents were when she and Jeremy were growing up. They were her role models and wanted what they had. Finding out that she is actually meant to be with someone who wasn't Stefan was, shocking, really but it was also a good thing because this meant she could have a romantic life with you. She's always felt something for you which confused her more than anything but then Damon informed her about the whole mates' thing and concerned everyone when they had just found out about the sire bond. The only reason the older Salvatore told her was when he caught her staring at you for the millionth time, forcing her to understand more about you

Bonnie

She barely started understanding the supernatural world and finding out that mates existed was crazy as hell. Honestly, it was the last thing she needed to hear. But then you started putting in an effort, putting her first (compared to what her friends do), she realized that maybe it wouldn't be so bad to have a mate. She was careful, guarded almost, at the beginning but your patience won in the end, and she knew you're the one for her. Everyone else (especially Caroline) was so happy that their friend found someone as awesome as you were; not to mention the fact that the blonde vampire is planning your guy's wedding already and is most definitely, going to fight whoever plans on being Bonnie's bridesmaid

Caroline

She never knew mates existed, always thought it was a fictional thing even with the whole supernatural world going on around her because no one really talked about it. She was the kind of girl who talked about having an epic love, but never realized she was talking about mates. Meeting you and then Bonnie telling her about the real reason behind your connection (and calming her mind, shutting down the thoughts of her being sired to you), she was excited. She finally had someone to spoil and someone who could take care of her. She offered to take you out, wanting to explain... everything since you know nothing and are being dragged into her hectic life. She will do everything she can to protect you

Tyler

The only reason he had an ounce of knowledge about mates was because of his wolf, had he not turned, he probably would have never found out and would have been whoring himself out to anyone he could (even more). But then you stepped foot into town, and it drove his wolf absolutely insane, to the point where he was starting fights with anyone. His wolf tried telling him, but it was hard for the boy to understand when he barely understood the supernatural world as it is. Then you found your way into his life and changed him, in more ways than one. He was lucky he didn't need to explain to much about the supernatural to you, but he still wasn't happy to know you were aware of, well, everything. It scared him, he doesn't want to lose you

Jeremy

When he became a vampire hunter, he didn't think he was going to be more than that and then when he died and came back, he wasn't all that pressed to talk to people and make friends. Then, you came, and things changed. He was working a shift at the grill when you walked in, and he was thought you were just- wow. Luckily you were seated in his section, giving him more opportunities to talk and try learning more about you. You caught the hints he was throwing and decided to throw him a bone, his number was immediately put in after picking up the bill. And, dammit if he hadn't texted you after his shift. He put in a genuine effort and found out you two were mates (who would have thought), certainly not you two

Alaric

He's been around for a while, knew a few things to help him get by and read a little bit about these things when he got into the supernatural world. So, he wasn't too alarmed when he found out he was mated to you but imagine his surprise when he finds out you also know about the supernatural and... actually know how to defend yourself, if needed. That man is floored, he thought he was going to need to show you a thing or two. What else would you expect from the guy who taught and helped all the kids learn about these things. (Don't even get him started on the time when Klaus had his body and knew before he did. He will go bonkers). He's not the happiest about others knowing about your bond but no one can keep their mouths shut anymore

I’m in SUCH tgc Aegon mood lately.

I was thinking about how in fmo, even pre them becoming close, Aegon def crashes in reader and Aemond’s room when he is hungover. He thinks their room smells better and the bed bigger/more comfortable. Fmo reader would just walk in some days and see him asleep. At first, she would wait for Aemond to get back to tell him to leave bc she was too nervous to wake him. Sometimes she would just let him bc he looks angelic when he sleeps and isn’t talking

You ever think about how Ethan got a whole room dedicated to him because he saved lizzie? He got something to honor him and the sacrifice he made for her. And how now whenever any new student comes can see it and think about how he was this great hero etc. Meanwhile Landon who's saved the school multi times. Has mad sacrifices/forced to make sacrifices for the school and everyone in it. And even gave up a part of his soul to help save the people there. And he doesn't have anything to honor him. Didn't even get a fuenal. He got nothing at all, not even the respect of what he's done etc. And if his name is ever brought up, he'll just be refer to as a kid who went there and died.

Don’t get me started! But hold on, Ethan just saved Lizzie? I didn’t watch the episode but was under the impression he’d died to somehow save the squad. So he was honored for saving Lizzie alone yet Landon saves everyone, the whole squad, the whole school how many times, sacrifices part of his soul which was all he had left, and he gets nothing?? Okay now I’m even more mad about it than I was before! But yeah I have thought about this a lot, it’s still unbelievable to me that he got no funeral or memorial or anything to honor him at all. And there wasn’t just one time he should’ve gotten a funeral, but two times, and no one gave a crap. And seriously though, it makes it even worse that anyone who goes to that school isn’t gonna know who he is or what he did for the school. I��ll forever be sickened by how Landon was constantly disrespected, he deserved to be mourned and honored more than anyone else. And I actually have a headcanon that Caroline found out what happened to Landon sometime after she got back (because we of course know that the squad and Alaric wouldn’t have told her anything at first, but she would’ve found out somehow at some point) and that she decided to do something for Landon herself. And had a memorial for him and dedicated somewhere in the school to him as well (maybe like the great hall, especially because of moments Landon had there like activating his flying power and Hope singing to him). At least that’s what I imagine to help deal with the anger I have about all this.

But yes exactly, Landon is with Hope and Raf in New Orleans now and getting to heal from everything he’s been through and be happy and I love that for him.

🌟 x 2 for each of the Trevelyan siblings, Matty, and Nick

#1 Kinda for both Alaric and Azriel, but they butt heads a LOT growing up and frequently argued. I don't think it ever really came to fist fights and scuffles or anything physical (Azriel isn't really that kinda guy) but it largely stemmed from Azriel being not a particularly serious personality and liking to goof off and have fun, while Alaric is a lot more quiet, reserved, and serious. That said, the one person they trust most to have their back in a fight would be each other.

#2 for Alaric, and #1 for Ashe- they're the closest pairing of the siblings, and were honestly each other's best friend growing up until Alaric joined the Templars, and at that point they started to grow apart (but only a little).

#2 for Ashe- she has a couch that is unofficially her second bed in the Trevelyan library. She's got a nest there of pillows and blankets and a stack of books and scraps of paper.

#2 for Azriel- He would 100% love being a girl dad, lbr >.>

#1 for Matty- He's a walking tumblr shitpost generator. He will 100% drop things like "It would be really awkward eating someone who gets off on that. It would be like if my lasagna was into vore" at the breakfast table like he's talking about the day's weather.

Currently in my play-through, and during the time when I draw most of my stuff (so post-Bishop indoctrination, finding Ewe, etc.) I’ve got these four:

🦙 Alar’s pretty skittish and a bit gullible, but has a good heart. He mostly handles praying to and charging the Empowered Shrine of Disciples for the lamb to use on crusades.

🍒 Cherry is actually a descendant from the first followers born into the cult, some of which were also disciples. She’s the quickest at refining resources and collects devotion from graves, transferring them to the Collected Shrine of Disciples.

🕷️ Witness Allocer was the last of the Witnesses to be defeated and recruited, and acts as Shamura’s caretaker (along with their siblings, of course). She also helps with organizing rituals.

💀 Vane wasn’t planned to be a disciple (the left three were and appointed before him) but, in-game, he asked to be a disciple and did the “I’ll go to jail for three days! I’ll eat poop!!” line of requests, so I headcanon him as a little freak. He acts as the cult’s night watch and takes care of whatever’s leftover from the day’s tasks during the nighttime.

They…mostly get along.

she decides that if she's not going to be studying, she might as well have company. picking up her phone for the first time in what feels like hours, she sends a text to her girlfriend.

hope stares blankly for a few minutes, awaiting a response, until she hears the door to her bedroom open.

Klaus had seen you around school when he was pretending to be Alaric, he thought you were the most beautiful person he had ever seen, your smile was angelic, he assumed it was just Alarics body reacting to seeing you

That was until after he broke his curse, after his trip with Stefan when he saw you again at school during the senior prank night.

He supplied endless snacks and brought you as many different foods as he found available to see what your favourites were

He sat and spoke to you on the evenings when he was done searching for the wolves. He would tell you stories about the last and how different things had changed

Once you had let yourself open up a bit he would try to inch closer to you, hold your hand, have you leaning against him or even him led on you while he listened to any and all things you would share

When you asked him why you felt so safe with him he thought it would be best to just let you know what was going on, he told you what he already knew about mates and how his bond was so much stronger because of his tightened feelings through his new hybrid status.

From then you decided to let him court you, you didn’t want either of you to suffer through the pain of a rejected mate and so tried to let him in

He would keep you close, always. He didn’t like anyone else being near you, it scared you sometimes how possessive he could be but you understood that he had a bad history with abandonment and Rebekah warned you of paranoia.

Klaus left you presents all the time. Anything to have your attention, have you seeking him out. When you came to speak to him first his stomach would flip

You actually kissed him first because he was afraid you’d push him off him like you sort of did when he pecked you at the school, he was overjoyed and smiling like an idiot

From then he wanted you to move in, he wanted to have you in his bed, to hold you, to love you and be free to express his care for you as often as he could without any judgement from the outside world

He said ‘i love you first’ and wanted to die when you took a second to long to respond but ultimately saying you loved him to had him throwing his arms around you and carrying you back upstairs

Elena prefers journalism and English to medicine.

Hope should’ve attended a normal school like a normal teenager. I can see her traveling outside the country for college. That girl got money! (Hope and Maya leaving Mystic Falls as lovers)… don’t get me started. Art and dance major gfs living in Europe..

Freya and Vincent should’ve ended up together. Now yes Vincent can’t stand the Mikaelson’s (rightfully so lol) but the writing put more time into their friendship (similar in a Bamon stance to me) than they ever did with Freya and Keelin. I enjoy both ships and I’m bisexual before somebody tries it lol.

Stefonnie would’ve been better than Steroline in the later seasons and in addition to Carenzo being better than Bonenzo

If Delena was to get married, I’d see them divorced. Elena would call it first. I think being human again after so long and being in a coffin would need addressing. She’d need her space.

Rebekah shouldve ended up with a woman. Sofya was good to Marcel in ways Rebekah wasn’t. Marbekah’s happy ending really only works for Rebekah’s needs.

Hayley didn’t love Jackson enough to be murdering people about him I’m sorry but lmao. He was a placeholder to her. Nothing more or less lol.

In the future I think Baroline would be that friend group who does therapy together to fix their issues.

I can see Bonnie teaching at the boarding school, but never staying too long.

In a world where Klaus has more time with Hope. I think he’d prioritize bonding with her and Marcel. More group activities with the family!

sorry it took me so long to get this written, I've been dealing with a lot this year and I haven't had time to write much unfortunately. I hope you enjoy. This is just my personal thoughts about what it'd be like to date our friendly neighborhood hybrid.

Klaus is a very complex and closed off man, it’s a mix of the centuries he’s spent running from Mikeal and his deep rooted fear that those he does trust will betray him. However, once he trusts you enough to start letting you in and allows himself to let his guard down around you, that’s when you’ll be able to truly see just how many layers to this man there is.

When Klaus first arrives in Mystic Falls, he’s in Alaric’s body and focused on trying to break his curse but that doesn’t stop him from taking notice of you.
