His musculature becomes a morphology of whipcord snakes. His winter chest rattles, the bitter taste of brine and melting ozone. His venom runs hot as his fever. He bleeds black oil and mercury.

And the open air bleeds with him; and the vault of Giedi Prime's metal night folds to his delirium.

Paul looks to him like a wiry claw silhouetted against the amphitheatre's monochrome shell, vibrating with the vital throb of hot blood. The christened Messiah has looked deadlier before. Has smelled liked it. Feyd-Rautha turns the Atreides' hawk's eyes over in his head, some subconscious place wherein his glares and gazes and tricks and feints keep themselves like a resevoir.

Special, singular place. Can you read minds, Mahdi? Now, in the interlocked grip of their bodies, Feyd's white fingers impress bruises across his Dune-tanned wrists. His chest rattles again, again. . . . Can you see yourself in mine? Under his flesh, he shivers. The knife's edge glosses his ribcage still, lower and lower the more he trembles. But it's a trembling between nerves — Feyd is the ophidian, tense and coiling.

His right hand entraps Paul's nape, pulls his skull down with him by the base of his blade. Neither of his knees yet kiss the bleached ground. Forehead to forehead, crown against crown. Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen unspools a black grin.

“What does your little needle search for, Mahdi?” Two, deriding syllables, Mah-di. His low hand steals from tanned wrist to knuckles, sharing the hilt. Asphyxiating. “First blood; you flatter me. But I remember drawing last — before you went off to gallivant with the Fremen pets.”

The encounter with Feyd leaves you so shaken that, come morning, you avoid seeing anyone. It feels childish and less dignified, your mind circling around the memories of the evening like vultures. It's as if he doesn't even need to touch you to make you forget years of training and let your emotions get the best of you. And he visibly enjoys it, your pain and humiliation making it even more luxurious for him. Frustrated and unable to concentrate, you put Irulan's gift away and lie down in a lounge chair on the balcony overlooking the small garden. The sun's rays are softened by the huge trees and reflected in the pond below. Its crystal clear waters appear like a mirror - calm and serene, a painful contrast to your mental state. You close your eyes and try to ground yourself in the moment, repeating the mantra „I am alive in stillness“, but to no avail. The fever that has been ignited within you consumes your mind and body. Your hands seem to develop a life of their own and, as if guided by a puppet master, they find their way to the small band of your tunic. The warm air touches your skin and you close your eyes, letting your fingers slide over your breasts, caressing the nipples that instantly stiffen under your touch. Your hand continues to slide down as your eyes flutter shut. It is almost as if you are picking up where he left off. The heat concentrates under your fingers, and letting your intuition guide you, you move your fingers in circles, dipping in and out of your cunt. The orgasm is so intense that for a second you forget where you are. You can't stop yourself from moaning his name and you feel like coming up for air.

Two days later it is time to say goodbye. Your father kisses you on the forehead and your mother seems to think the same as you - "I will not fear". Letting go of Paul's embrace seems almost impossible, but when all is said and done, you make your way to the Baron's ship. His gigantic form floats in front of you, while your betrothed follows at the same level as you.

Even if he doesn't look at you, you can't help but feel his presence. Each step seems to be part of a well-orchestrated choreography and reminds you of a wild animal, ready to reveal its murderous nature at any moment. At the last glance, you turn your head to see your mothers signing "Good luck" to you with a small flick of her wrist. The connection to what was familiar is tethered and you are not sure of the tumultuous feeling your gut that the now empty space in your soul is son tobe filled with a new home. The change is almost tangible, as if when you pay close enough attention, it glow like a dark halo around you.

Once on the ship, you are left to your own devices. You can call upon servants at any time, but they seem to anticipate your wishes before you know them. Food and drink are brought to you, as well as an army of new clothes. Your favourite is the black dress with heavy beading around the bodice, covering your torso like a shield. Paired with a translucent black veil and a small gold chain around your neck, connected to your torso, it feels appropriate to take your first steps on the planet you will call home.

Your unease is heightened when, upon your arrival, neither Feyd nor the Baron are to be seen. A tall, slender man who introduces himself as Piter de Vries escorts you to the Feeds chambers. You immediately recognise the characteristic traces of spice in his eyes, the only thing that seems to have any colour in this world. Shielded from the harsh black sun, you reach Na Baron's quarters, only to find an army of monochrome grey, white and black surroundings. The palace seems to be the essence of the Harkonnens, with hard, clear lines, yet graceful and spacious.

"If you need anything, there are always two servants at the door," says Piter. The servants resemble guards, but you decide not to share this observation. Piter's eyes linger on the glass box with the fir tree. "Do you want to have a closer look?" You ask. "Only if you don't mind. I have never seen anything like it". "It was a parting gift from my father. On Caladan, fir trees grow as tall as these walls, more of them than you can count. You may take it with you if you promise to return it in one piece tomorrow." Pieter seems to understand your bid for connection and bows his head „I am indebted to you, Na Baroness“ Its the first time some one dresses you with your new title and you barely suppress a shiver. And as if the title was a spell, Feyd Rautha appears in the doorway. Piter bows and leaves at once, holding the precious piece of your home in his hands. He moves so siletly, that you begin to wonder if the planet is not only devoid of color but also of sound. Blood seems to rush to your cheeks as you meet Feyd's gaze. "Is everything to your satisfaction?" His voice echoes. "Yes, thank you, Baron." His arms are behind his back and before you realise why, you see droplets of thick, almost black liquid collecting on the floor behind him. Slowly he unclasps his hands, drops to one knee and holds out a slim silver knife to you, covered in more of the same substance. "Is… is it blood?" You don't know why you question it. "Yes, it is. Please accept this as a token of my devotion to you. It is…" his blue eyes find yours, "the proof that my body will be yours alone. No other being shall touch it."

"Your pets…" you feel almost dizzy as the understanding dawns on you.

"No more pets," he says, still on his knee.

You slowly take the knife and place it on the white table beside you. Some of the blood gets on your wrist. He grabs it and licks it off. While a part of your brain screams that you should be afraid, your body seems to find the spark he struck on Kaitain again. His tongue flicks across the sensitive skin as he rises and begins to undo the buttons on your shoulders, the need to touch him overwhelming you and you reach out with your palm to his cheek. He leans into your touch with more tenderness than you ever expected. But as soon as your dress falls to the floor, pure hunger returns to his eyes. He presses into you and you feel as if your insides have melted on the spot. You try to feel his length through the fabric of his tunic. „So needy, Na Baroness?“ He purrs, enjoying the dominance he has over you. With a swimming motion, he pushes you onto the bed, holding your arms above your head. His tongue descends to your collarbone, moving deeper as he takes one breast in his mouth, sucking the tender flesh. You moan under him, already feeling washed away from any security of a shore into a whirl of need. His tongue continues to drive you mad as he bites you, the pain searing and glorious at the same time. Your hand reaches for him again, but he holds your wrists down as his tongue continues to run between your legs. He looks up at you, and it is the last thing to break the tiny shreds of your resolve. But he doesn't let you go, his tongue still swirling between your folds, drinking in your sweetness. Suddenly your hands are connected and a split second later you realise why: he uses his left hand, with slender, graceful fingers, to push your thighs further apart. You feel wanton and still needy, and as one of his finders curls inside you, you moan his name. "Feyd, Feyd, Feyd." Your own voice seems alien to you, high-pitched and desperate.

"My Na Baroness seems to want more," he smiles devilishly and inserts two more fingers at once. You whimper and throw your head back into the pillows. It feels like the stars are exploding behind you and feel the second orgasm coming as he stops and pulls away from you. You can barely hold back a frustrated squeal. Your body feels hot, the only antidote to this madness his skin on yours. You try to concentrate on his form, seeing him remove his tonic first, then his trousers, leaving nothing to the imagination. 1) Fic that's made you laugh the most

He May Be The Reason by @c-goldthorn. It's a Clegan Notting Hill au and it makes me squeal with delight. So cute that I got distracted while reading it and missed my stop on the train.

2) A fic that made you cry

my kingdom for a kiss upon your shoulder by pillar of our community @swifty-fox. I'm sure most ppl have probably read this one but it's such an amazing post-show continuation that really doesn't pull it's punches when it comes to both PTSD and the realities of being gay in the 40s

3) Fave comfort, silly fic

It's a little rogue but I'm gonna say Awake, Alive by the wonderful @whirlpool-blogs. It's a pet sematary au so not exactly what you would call traditionally comforting but the ending makes me so happy and the whole thing is just a joy. The fact that this came to mind when I thought 'comfort fic' is probably pretty telling about me as a person....

4) The fic that made you try a genre or trope that you don't usually read

This is also a bit rogue but it was tricky since I'll read anything, so I'll go with Strings of the Strings of Life by the lovely @weimarweekly, not because of any of the content but because I don't, as a general rule, read Dune fic that was written after Dune 2 released. I've bored everyone to tears with my complaints about that version of Feyd but it is what it is so I tend not to like any fics written about that version of the character BUT the prospect of a feydpaul Berlin techno au was too delicious to resist and the whole fic is so fun. It makes me miss Germany sooo bad.

5) An author who has inspired your own fic writing

This one has got to go to the anonymous author of both Close And Yet Closer and The Replacement. Both of these fics are god tier and their character psychology and willingness to allow their versions of the characters and relationships to be ugly and messy are so inspiring to me. They were also the first person in the John/Hausman tag on ao3 which is currently just me and them. I think about the replacement all the time and it was a HUGE influence on 3am Eternal. If I can ever write half as well as them I will die happy.

6) What are your fave underdog authors? Those that you feel are underappreciated and deserve a bit more love

Hmmm, this is kinda hard cus the MOTA fandom is pretty small so I feel like a lot of stuff gets decent buzz. Imma shout out @whirlpool-blogs again and especially their fucked up clegans fics, I have read and reread all of their works and they're always so so good. I will also add @steeseman for Up In Our Bedroom. It's another great post-canon fic and while it has a lot of hits, I don't think I've seen anyone talking about it on here.

7) What's one thing you wish writers/readers did more of when it comes to fanfiction.

The obvious one is comment, it really does make my day when I get a nice comment, even just a couple words or an emoji mean a lot. The other thing I would say is writing curt/Kenny fic, there's not much out there and I want more please. Also more fics where characters relationships are like genuinely kind of fucked up and toxic. I love that shit.

8) What's one thing you wish writers/readers did less of when it comes to fanfiction.

Oh man, I really do not know. The only thing I can think of is that I hate the word 'yap' or 'yapping' so if I see it in a fic I shudder. Hmmmm, I guess I also wish that there was a little more consideration when writing Gale's dad as an alcoholic because it's often treated as the basis for him being a shitty person. Addicts aren't automatically bad people and I sometimes feel like it's portrayed that way. @blixabargelds wrote an excellent post on this

9) I'm adding an extra one and that is current WIPs I am reading

Sympathy For The Devil by @blixabargelds, it's a modern ghost hunting AU and the set up is AMAZING. I will also throw Superstar in here even though it's not releasing main story chapters yet, everything Frankie writes is so tailored to my personal tastes it's crazy and I am so excited to read @mildharm's John POV chapters too. Literally foaming at the mouth thinking about it rn. When it starts being released fully, I fear it may kill me.

Love Song From A Dog and The Heart Is A Muscle by @swifty-fox. I've only just started THIAM but I'm so hyped for their take on the tattoo shop/flower shop au.

Hit Me Where The Heart Is by @london-cowboy makes me legitimately insane. I jump for joy whenever there is a new update, these versions of the characters and their stories are, as Paris Hilton would say, beyond. I do not have the words to say how much I am loving this fic. The characters and setting feel so real and it's just so creative. AMAZING.

I need to get around to starting let us not desert one another; we are an injured body and also the time skip fic whose name escapes me by @irregularcollapse and also catching up with @weimarweekly's rodeo fic, Looking For Eight

At first I didn’t think I would be able to do this challenge because I thought I hadn’t made very many gifs this year but apparently I posted 40 sets! There were definitely two main phases (Dune Part 2 and TROP S2) with a couple months in between where I didn’t make any, but overall not a bad year for gifs and this was a nice opportunity to look back through them all and appreciate my own hard work.

Popular (287 notes)/Favorite: What If…? Season 3 Trailer It’s funny, I started 2024 with this episode (at this point only a teaser trailer) and ended the year giffing the same episode after it was finally released. Full circle!

APRIL (11)

Popular (6571 notes): Feyd-Rautha/Paul Parallel I like this one a lot but it still bothers me so much that I couldn’t get their strides to sync up perfectly. I tried SO hard but no matter what I did the timing was always just slightly off.

Favorite: Now Kiss w/ Live Chani Reaction This scene out of context is still incredibly funny to me.

Honorable Mention: The Slap April may've officially been The Month of Dune but I can't leave out the scene that I’ve been wanting to gif for ages and finally developed my skills enough to make look half decent (the lighting and camerawork in this scene is a nightmare).

Top 5 Best Films of 2024

Last post of the year (in my timezone), and I wanted to make it a good one; a positive one, even. So, without further ado, here goes!

5. Anora

The "Common People" to Pretty Woman's "Uptown Girl" and the first Sean Baker film I can confidently say that I liked, rather than 'quite liked' or 'kind of liked' (as was the case with Red Rocket), Anora came out of nowhere, body-slammed me into a wall, then left without an apology as it should. How Mikey Madison didn't blow out her vocal cords during the home invasion sequence, I have no idea. What I do know is I hope she - and Mark Eydelshteyn - get more work.

4. Cuckoo

Beautiful and bonkers with star turns from both Hunter Schafer and Dan Stevens (who was having a really good year this year) and a reveal that is only slightly less bizarre than the world it's set in. I compared it to A Cure for Wellness and I stand by it. Although ACFW didn't end in of the best worst gunfights in modern cinema, which was the cherry on top of a fucking weird cake.

3. Abigail

Gory, hilarious, and the best thing Radio Silence have done since 2019's Ready or Not (which has become something of a comfort watch for me over the years). Four strong consecutive films being good to very good is a rarity in any filmmaker's career, but the Radio Silence guys have managed that with aplomb and seeming ease. Alisha Weir holds her own against a group of more experienced actors who are twice her age, and my partner and I picked up on that The Guest reference at the end. Don't think that went unnoticed, RS.

2. Dune: Part Two

The problems I had with Part One were chiefly that the pacing was uneven and that the supporting characters weren't given much to do. Those problems were fixed in Part Two, leading to an expansive and engrossing watch of an epic that remained accessible to people not well versed in the source novel. The visuals are stunning, as is par for the course with Villeneuve, with the Paul/ Feyd-Rautha fight being a highlight (see above). Stilgar gets the best moments, almost stealing the film altogether. Film critic Mark Kermode summarised the film as "Life of Brian played straight", and I'm inclined to agree.

Honourable mentions:

Longlegs: The only July horror whose ending did not tell me to go fuck myself, this was a tense and absorbing watch despite Cage being Cage. Loved the noir feel to it. Sidenote: I'm convinced that Lee Harker is autistic.

Civil War: What can I say, this was great. Not too much worldbuilding, and the slow dehumanisation of the war journalists as they become complicit in the dehumanisation of the subjects they photograph was a fascinating direction to take.

Boy Kills World: The best videogame adaptation of the year and the first revenge thriller with a nameless orphaned protagonist that was released in April. Man, Bill Skarsgard has had a mixed year.

Monkey Man: The other revenge thriller with a nameless orphaned protagonist, Dev Patel gives 120% and grimes up good doing it. It has themes and ideas, it executes them well, it has funny moments, and it lacks sexual violence.

Poor Things: I did not know how much I wanted to see Mark Ruffalo scream "CUUUUUUNNNNNNNTTTTT!!" until this came along.

And finally, the best thing I saw this year... drum roll pleeease...

1. The Substance

Dune: Part Two held this spot for so long, but then The Substance came along, body-slammed it into a hidden alcove in its own bathroom, and settled in its place comfortably. Hatching - my number one film of 2022 - was about a girl entering puberty, entering a point where she would start to be desired by the opposite sex; The Substance follows a woman reaching the end of that desirability. It's the only film I wanted to see again before it left cinemas, and regretfully, I did not get that chance to. It straddles that line between ironic and unironic arthouse. It is beautiful, it is uncompromising, it is vicious, it is stark, it is unforgettable, and it is deserving of this spot. Brava, Mme Fargeat and co.

Sci Fi Month Frank Herbert's Dune(2000)

So I talked about David Lynchs attempt at a Dune adaptaion ,but there have been other adaptaions of the story,with Denis Villenuves Dune PArt 2 currently in theaters by the time of this post,but the adaptaion I am looking at today was a 3 episode miniseries made for the Sci Fi Channel (Still never calling it Syfy ,I can be petty ) .Ive kind of avoided this version because welll......Its a early 2000's TV adaptation of an epic novel for the Sci Fi channel ,which is unfair,as I love a good miniseries but I'll admit I can be a snob sometimes,but over the years I have heard praise and to this day many people (My dad who is an old school Dune fan ) call tyhis the best adaptation of Dune

In this 2000's miniseries Duke Leto Atredies (William Hurt ) is given control of Arakis by the Emperor Shaddam IV (Giancarlo Giannini) who uses it as a ploy to destroy Leto by giving support to Letos enemy the Baron Vladimir Harkonen (Ian McNeice ) to destroy the house of Atredies,but Letos son Paul (Alec Newman ) and Letos concubine Jessica (Saskia Reeves) escape ,join the native people of Arakis ,the Fremen to seek revenge on the Emperor and House Harkonen ,while also taking advantage of a prophecy

.....SO I enjoyed this a lot.Its not flawless but if you are in the right mood it is enjoyable .I will say it is not as grand as the Lynch or Villinuve films,its shot on soundstages and lacks the all star casts of those films....But what I like is its more Shakespeare then space opera ,very theatrical sort of sci fi .I actually like the sets(GEidi Prime in particualr is perhaps my fave take on the planet ).The costume design is where this shines ,I heard the costumes were inspired by Moebius (The French comic artist) and you can tell,the characters feel like they walked right out of a sci fi comic,and with the designs and colors this mybe my favorite LOOKING version of Dune .I think the three episodes tell the story very well,though the best written is part one,and part 2 feels a bit padded but it sticks the landing for part 3 .I also think this miniseries nails the darker parts of the story better then the 84 Dune ,mainly that Paul is NO hero

The actors are mostly good,though very few are my favorite takes on these character.Some stand outs are Karel Dobry as the enigmatic Liet-Kynes(My fave take on the character),Julie Cox in an expanded role as Princess Irulan,Barbora Kodetova is good as Chani ,Saskia Reeves is a very good Lady Jessica ,Jan Unger is a suitably slimey Piter de Vries ,and Matt Keesler is suitably villainous as Feyd .The big star gets of the miniseries are Giancarlo Giannini as the Emperor who is better then Jose Ferrer but still lacking a bit of gravitas ,and William Hurt as Duke Leto ,who I think does a fairly good job as the noble duke even if its funny he is top billed as a guy wh dies in the first part .The scene stealer of the series is our villain ,the Baron played deliciously deviously by Ian McNiece ,who might be my favorite take on the Baron ,he feels like a classic Shakesperian villain and McNice is clearly having a ball without going as over the top as Kenneth McMillian in the 84 film

If the miniseries has a weak point the weakest has to be Paul.Alec Newman is not bad ,in fact hes pretty good at anti hero Paul near the end....But his begining PAul feels like it is written younger,and he comes across too petulent and whiney

However I do reccomend this and it is very solid ,higly reccomended

yeah! i'm a nerd at heart and also i have a burning need to be canon-compliant with both canon and reality, so i love getting into the research weeds when i'm all in on a fic!

the most """research""" i've done for a fic was, astonishingly, for the fucking,,,,, robert baratheon story (that started life as, and i cannot stress this enough, a joke). i spent so many hours on a wiki of ice and fire i'm pretty sure i made up at least 40% of the site's traffic during the calendar year time it took me to write the damn thing. extremely normal behavior!

anyway! i'm actually in the opposite situation with chimneys, which is super weird. i know a staggering amount of information about the post-wwii usaaf/usaf, and i have to actively stop myself from a) infodumping about things like the development of the american bomber fleet and b) trying to make the timeline accurate, because the entire premise of the fic relies on me Ignoring what was actually going on. anti-research. insane! everyone pour one out for @sluttyhenley— she's spent the last two months taking one for the team and letting me rant at her about curtis lemay so i can get it out of my system and spare everyone who's there for porn instead of a dissertation on strategic bombing doctrine <3

All things considered, I got off pretty light. This is the meanest thing someone has to say about me? Cool

& I’ve seen some of the posts explaining all this, I’ve also gotten a message that said these are Bel’s words because she was jealous of someone else getting attention. These messages were sent to someone else to share with me but ultimately, they were still sent to me and I am the one choosing to share them so if Ange or Em, if you see this and don’t like it. Take it up with me, not them

This is the choice I’ve made, I do not believe Ange. She admitted that some screenshots were doctored and some were real, I fully believe this one to be the latter.

1. Bel didn’t unfollow me, we were mutuals up until I found out about the rat anons and I unfollowed her because it really bothers me to know she’d go that far for so long. We also didn’t stop interacting, in fact… she had me tagged for her Helen of Troy inspired Feyd fic recently and that wasn’t the first time she had me in a taglist for a fic. I often reblogged her fics and we interacted about them and the men involved. We became mutuals because of her fics and had been for like a year lmao — I very seriously doubt she was jealous

2. I say this very clearly, I do not think this because I think Bel is stupid but because I’ve seen that Ange has often used big vocabulary words in casual conversation and I’ve had enough conversations with Bel to know that despite her being in school and very smart, she would’ve been more likely to call me a bootlicker or a simp before she would’ve called me a sycophant.

3. This is not the first time Ange has unfollowed me and I did notice that she unfollowed me around the same time this comment was made because shortly after, my friend spoke of being in her discord server and I finally just mentioned that I don’t think Ange liked me.

We haven’t been mutuals so I’m not missing much and if she somehow proves that it was Bel, it doesn’t change anything tbh, I’ll just be a lil more disheartened by how fake some can be. This whole debacle is ugly and pathetic, especially coming from GROWN WOMEN. I'll never never never be tired of watching the desert shot by Denis. This is so smooth, so calming, so satisfying. My soul is happy 😌

This is the first shot of the trailer that made me go ohmygod. I'm not sure what's going on exactly in this scene but I find these few seconds SO POWERFUL for some reason. I'd wish Herbert would have done more with Lady Jessica in the whole story (even if her not being really present gives more room to other very interesting characters) but I can't wait to see Lady Jessica in this part 2. The glimpses we see in this trailer are exciting (to say the least).

When the talk was all about Florence vs Anya, I thought Anya was closer to what I had physically in mind for a character like Irulan. Seeing the trailer now, I think Florence's smartness, attitude and personality might be a very good thing for Irulan. Good move, Denis, good move.

I love this shot and I love it even more because it could look like something form The Messiah. Or even the Children. Incredible. I love that Timmy's account used it for promotion.

AH. That's where all the problem start. And the spoilers. I'm not sure what will be said in the movie so, maybe I'm not spoiling much but, still. Anyway.

If you don't know, this is Feyd-Reutha. He's the Harkonnen Baron's nephew and his heir. While Paul is the Baron's grand son. In the Bene Gesserit's plans, Paul was supposed to be a girl and marry Feyd. Their kid was supposed to be the Bene Gesserit's Kwisatz Haderach. As you must now from the first movie, all of this was fucked up because Lady Jessica gave Duke Leto the boy he wanted. In the book, Feyd is supposed to look a lot like Paul, to be a charismatic figure like him and everything. I'm not sure choosing to make Austin look like what they decided all the Harkonnens should look really serve this idea? I get that it's a good idea for cinema and a movie targeting the largest audience possible that Harkonnens all look similar so everybody can quickly understand the different sides, families and who's good and who's bad. (Truth is, everybody is bad in Dune. Except the mouse. The mouse can stay.) But, I also think that nothing looks more powerful and dangerous than a bad guy looking like a good guy (in narration standards). If I remember correctly, Feyd can be read as a bit of a mirror for Paul's character and I would have like to see a bit of this physically? I don't know. I want to be convinced because I am not really right now.

I love sci-fi and fantasy universes exactly for these aesthetics. Mysterious items. It fascinates me probably because I would have no idea about how to write these kind of things myself.

I clearly remember the moment I've read how Paul's skin was supposed to look like after 3 years living in the Arrakis' desert. And I remember thinking how the hell they're going to make this happened how Timmy's skin of all people. Like the guy would probably managed to burn in Glasgow so, I was doubtful. I still am since he still looks silky smooth for most of the trailer but i like the way his skin looks here. That being said, they seem to have made some kind of arrangement with the timeline of the story. I'll have more thoughts about it after seeing the movie.

It might be just me but this piece of scene didn't sound very clear to me, even with memories of the book. Like, we don't know what looks like a normal worm ride so, are we supposed to understand what's going on and what's fancy? Plus what Paul's doing doesn't look fancy at all, it looks more like he's struggling sooo? It's not smooth, but not fancy either, so idk. Unless they're is a meaning of fancy that I don't know of, i'm a bit confused by this part. But this,

this is genius. Perfect midway between admiration and fear. Exactly what is needed to look at Muad'Dib.

I wonder why some parts are in black and white. Seems a bit easy for a vision and wasn't used in the first movie so it would be odd but i have no other theory.

I'm a bit upset because if it's the scene I think it is, it was very different in my head. Maybe I don't remember correctly, but for me, in this scene Paul is talking to a couple of hundreds people top and is very close to them and for me it suits the Muad'Dib effect better? It's kind of hard to explain, especially in English, but for me, Muad'Dib doesn't really scream directly to thousands of people who can't barely see him to send them to war. I see him as a figure who will talk to the couple of hundreds people he's with and be so close to them you can see his reflection in their eyes. He's a legend in the sense of a belief. It's the idea of him, his words spreading from person to people and from people to person that make Muad'Dib who he is. I guess it would have been less impressive for a film like Dune but I was impatient to see this scene, a sort of prophetic version of his speech in the King, and now I'm not sure. I hope they did good but and that he's delivering his speech in a other scenery and then going there rather than having to shoot such a powerful moment in front of nothing and with no other possibility than to yell everything.

After thought was to wonder if Timmy learned to radiate such confidence (especially in the scene of the second screenshot) for Paul or if Paul taught him to feel confident. Life as an actor must be so so weird.

Long story short, I know the movie is going to be fantastic but I have just a few interrogations about how certain things look. And last but not least, the work that the music does for this movie is PHENOMENAL, even if it's nothing that we haven't read before. Hans is a genius, I'd offer him my first child without a second thought. (i don't have kids. I don't want kids, so it's a way of saying, chill out.)

1. How many works do you have on ao3 (or masterlist)? Almost all of them are cross posted so AO3 says - 27 but that's not totally accurate. I have multi-chapter fics on there and it only counts my drabbles as one (but there are 17 "chapters"). Masterlist and AO3 is Lady_Phasma.

2. What’s your total ao3/tumblr word count? 152,919

3. What fandoms do you write for? House of the Dragon, Dune (Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen), The Sandman, Marvel, The Walking Dead (Daryl Dixon), The Mandalorian, basically anything that interests me even for a moment.

4. Top five fics by kudos. I didn't chapter my Daemyra fic when I started it because I didn't know that I would write chapters. So Zaldrītsos and it's spin-off, Devoted and Enchanted (only on AO3 because dead dove), take up all 5 spots.

5. Do you respond to comments? Yes, and usually quickly.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Honestly, not sure. I don't write a lot of angst but maybe my Frank Castle/Punisher fic?

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Here's another lame answer: I don't write much plot so it's difficult to determine. Almost none of my series are complete so I can't judge those. I would say my Daryl Dixon series is on track for a happy ending maybe.

8. Do you get hate on fics? I've never received any. I'm sure my style isn't for everyone, but the hate I have gotten has nothing to do with writing.

9. Do you write smut? Almost exclusively. I can only think of three fics I have that aren't smut in some form - one for Aemond, one for Daemon, one for the Punisher.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I'm amazed that's a question. I guess people do that but it's so crazy to me. I mean, it's possible. I don't really have any way to know.

So both: all time favorite that I have written is probably my Helaemond because it turned out really well (also the first fic I ever cross posted to Tumblr I think); all time favorite is Eleventh Doctor x River Song (and I probably need to write that).

15. What’s a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Probably my Aemond x ofc series, currently at three chapters. I lost the momentum and have never found it again.

16. What are your writing strengths? Descriptions. Sure, smut descriptions, but settings as well. In the collab mentioned above, I did most of the exposition and the other writer did most of the dialogue. Because:

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I suck at dialogue. And plot. I am way better at dialogue than plot and that's frightening. Also, romance. I'm aro so it is really difficult for me to find the inspiration for romance.

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language? I've written some in High Valyrian. If I can't write in that language at all I try to avoid having characters speak other languages.

19. First fandom you wrote in? The Vampire Chronicles (Interview with a Vampire) around 1993/94. Before I saw the movie adaptation I was obsessed with the books and The Vampire Lestat is still one of my favorite books of all time. My copy from that time has the cover taped on - it is well loved.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? This is so difficult! I think it's a tie. The one I am proudest of is my Aemond x fem!reader x Daemon because I tried something so far outside my wheelhouse and it worked! The one that I enjoy rereading the most might be chapter 1 of Hen embār masti - From the Sea We Came (Daemon x Velaryon ofc). I have more chapters planned (story of my life) because this is my baby. Honorable mention goes to my dead dove on AO3. I'll never post it here and may finish it one day but I really love it.

6) SGDKJG honestly a wild day for us. she cracks me up like no one else <33 but OOO okay so i'm a strange one alright i grew up adoring anything fantasy/sci–fi, ate every novel and movie and show up, but in the past few years i've sort of lost interest in that vibe? which makes me really sad! but i've just been enjoying more slice of life stuff in terms of media i consume.

so i think if dune had come out when i was in like high school, i would've been obsessed, but even if it's not my go to genre, i still thought they were beautiful movies, perfect casts, managed to hold my attention as someone who can barely sit thru movies 99% of the time, the sound design was incredible, 10/10. no complaints.

but listen.... at first i was like "yummy feyd" as a joke. i serious'd very very fast. like i knew i'd be attracted just bc, i mean, c'mon, it's austin lmfaooo, but my brain chemistry was genuinely altered. i haven't like properly fleshed out any au–type of brainrot because i honestly didn't retain enough info about the dune universe (again. i am not a good movie watcher, i do not do well just sitting down and paying attention to one thing for three hours lol) but i do think some sort of crossover where john is in the dune world would be interesting!

let's be real, most of us would probably just wanna see john and feyd fuck nasty so. not sure it needs much elaborating on LMFAO and i'd be surprised if someone doesn't end up writing a fic like that– wouldn't be surprised if there already are some!

Hi! You caught me in a bit of a mood earlier, and since we're having this discussion, I figured I'd write you a genuine response from the heart.

So you caught me in a snarky and worn out mood earlier, and while the higher path would have been to ignore you, I was annoyed you were coming onto my post, (which is explicitly tagged with a ship that could be muted or blocked) that is barely that problematic by my own standards, canonically meant to be 'in another life I would have been your wife' since the book was written sixty years ago, and in which every adaption of the book and film that has happened has portrayed the final fight between Feyd-Rautha and Paul as a final rejection of his path and corrupted consummation of their meant to be wedding night, with Feyd penetrating Paul as intended, but Paul rejecting nature as the KH himself and penetrating Paul himself, to the point the most recent film also makes this an explicitly sexually charged scene.

So from my POV when I whipped off that first response I was just responding to someone doing what I saw as potentially morally righteous sealioning. Now after I came back later I looked at your blog and I saw you're a lot younger, so I'm going to walk back that assumption and apologize, I shouldn't have taken what I thought then was bait anyway, or gotten snippy with someone who missed something in six hours of a film that barely manages to squeeze in most of the first book, possibly the first time they saw it. I was rude and as someone who has been in fandom and online spaces and cares about making them a more welcoming space, that is on me.

However, now that we are here, I would like to gently point out a few pieces of etiquette that might help you have a better time, or at least better prepare you for what your future fandom experiences and experiences diving into older fandoms like Dune with their decades of history, or even some standards of classic literature you'll inevitably be assigned in English class.

You are absolutely correct on the first part, and again I apologize for brushing you off and making your feel like I was talking down to you.

However, the year 2025 does not matter. It's simply the year in which you are first encountering and experiencing these elements of story-telling that have always been there. Shock is a natural reaction, and distaste, dislike, or disgust are also normal first reactions. A desire for complexity and nuance in all things develops with us as we mature, whether it's becoming bored of living on cartoons rated for 3 year olds that simply teach us colors and shapes to wanting ones that teach us stories and narratives, or going from wanting to live on nothing but mac and cheese for dinner every night to realizing you could really go for a green vegetable to not feel awful right now.

To stretch the metaphor to its logical conclusion: some people might decide they're happy with the basic meals, some people might be really into certain cuisines, and some people might like the flavors that actively incite disgust and nausea like appallingly stinky cheeses or rotten shark, precisely because the complexity of the flavors and some of the off-putting elements enhance the experience as a novelty and a delicacy to try and discuss. These would be your horror film nerds who like the truly grotesque and delightedly discuss 'does the dog die' as a positive element because it shows the filmmakers likelihood to challenge societal taboos in other areas, or yes, incest shippers, from gothic literature from the victorian era to V.C. Andrews or yes, even something like Dune fanfiction.

Where everyone stops in that journey is incredibly personalized after grade school, even more so now with the bubbles the internet gives us I imagine than when I was growing up and social media was only just beginning. My mother, for example, cannot stand depictions of violence in her films, and therefore does not like the majority of films that I do. Inversely, I cannot watch more than an hour or two of TV a night with her when I visit, as she consumes nothing but police procedurals like 'Law & Order SVU, CSI etc'. While she is personally turned off by fake blood and screams in any context, I am nauseated when having to consume another hour of pre-packaged narratives about how the police are always correct and get their man in every rape case, do not need warrants, are justified in roughing up people in custody, defense attorneys are bad, and other copaganda that has sunk into the American consciousness for irreparable damage over the last thirty years. Her comfort shows are hers. Mine are mine.

The reasons I bring this up, is that there will always be problematic ships, including incest ships. Sometimes they will be as old and textually supported as FeydPaul, sometimes they will be brand new and based entirely on vibes. Sometimes the reasons and fic will be a more complex exploration of things like the Bene Gesserit's breeding program and its roots to American Eugenics programs that were the origins that the Germans based their programs on in the 1930s and 40s, or the effects of centuries of intermarriage and inbreeding on creating oligarchies and fragile systems of infrastructure with nepotism at its core. Often times it will simply be fluff or making out or smut. Like a wine and stinky cheese club, you can be there to chug, to sip and analyze, but no one in the club will bat an eye if you say you'd rather pass because you don't drink and that smells disgusting to you, or that you are too young and it is not for you.

The culture change in the last decade or so, beginning with mid-season Supernatural and continuing to grow past that, has increasingly changed from a fandom mentality of 'Ship and Let Ship' and 'Your Kink is Not My Kink, And That's Okay', which are important first steps to learning to deal with people you may not totally agree with but need to share some form of space with. Censorship is the first tool used to silence and separate minority groups and divide them by an oppressing force. It cannot have limitations, and every one of us must swallow some level of discomfort for truly free speech that harms no living human. If it does not incite real violence against an individual and/or group, it the rotten shark we must personally decide we are not here to eat and mutually protect our rights to do so they can protect whatever our personal stinky cheese is tomorrow.

Now as for the reaction you received; I saw someone walk into my clearly labeled wine and cheese club, look around, and say 'ugh god, who would ever drink alcohol and eat disgusting cheese in this day and age? Why don't you just have some fruit or cocktail sausages?' and rather put out, I responded in the spirit that while we may like other things as well, this the well-established 60 year old wine and cheese club, not the strawberries and prosciutto club, and one doesn't simply swap one flavor for another.

To me, hearing people in their early 20s and younger talking about choosing ships based on what is 'non-problematic' in the modern age feels like hearing someone tell me about how they've found a new favorite food based on the calorie intake and instagram hashtag, never mind the taste. It makes me wonder a bit about what the appeal of engaging in fandom is anymore, if you are not drawn in by the idea of exploring the potential of a particular story or set of stories offered by a set of characters, that feels like the equivalent of drinking a meal replacement shake every day instead of lovingly basking in the joy of gooey fudgey brownies or cheese laden pasta whose flavors (and importantly, consequences) exist entirely within your own mind and the shared recipe box you have created with your friends.

This is probably not at all the response you were expecting if you expected one at all, and I have no idea how you will take it, but you felt dismissed earlier, and that is definitely not my intention. I hope this gives you a better understanding of where some of the sides of fandom (and in general some of the enjoyers of darker media you meet in your life) are coming from. I'm sorry we stepped on each others' toes.
