📱 LEYLA 🍪🤍
callum: the last time we spoke you asked me about my ex and i sort of froze... I'm sorry about that. I haven't spoke about her in so long I was struggling to know what to say. callum: i should have trusted you as you are so open with me and i hope you know i trust you. i just don't like talking about it because i always get this like burning pain in my throat and then i just shut down. it really hurt. callum: it still hurts. she's never told me why she left and i was so scared. callum: anyway... thank you for being a true friend and watching you with billie is beautiful. you're an amazing mom. if my daughter doesn't have her mom i know she will be okay because of friends and moms like you.

closed starter for @leylayilmz & @bellstrom location: golden hour beach bar
The bar heaved with people in costumes, drunk and letting loose. Gabe didn't know Briar could throw down like this, and he had to admit he was impressed. The place was popping, and everyone had put in so much effort with the outfits. He had chosen Jason from Friday the 13th to add horror to the night's festivities. Girls found slasher dudes hot, right? That's what Gabe argued when he received a few stares.
It had been a few hours already, and Gabe was already tipsy, texting Benny frantically to get his ass here. His mask lay discarded on the table as thumbs continued to tap his screen, pestering his best friend. He had agreed to some dumb trick-or-treat thing with a local mom and her kid. The thought of which made Gabe shiver. The idea of kids had always terrified him, yet his best friend was running around playing daddy. A far cry from the Benny of the Chicago days.
He felt someone hit his shoulder, and he turned to see a woman in a suit with what appeared to be an inflatable alien by her feet—the things you could only see on Halloween. "I think you dropped your buddy," Gabe teased, holding up the alien. His eyes finally took her in, and a smirk spread over his lips, dimples showing. "Women in black, huh? Sexy..." There was something undeniably attractive about a woman in a suit, the power. "Can I get you a drink?"

"I know the situation is less than ideal, but I really don't think you've done anything wrong here, babe. You kissed someone who you didn't know, haven't we all? Is it unfortunate, yes, but it's not like you did it deliberately." Crossing one leg over the other, Lia dropped her hands into her lap. It was always going to be a tricky line to navigate and even though she had known Leyla pretty much her whole life, Lia really couldn't see that she could be in the wrong. "Honestly? I think it'll be more complicated the longer it goes on. If you nip it in the bud now, it's one thing but if you leave everything untied for months? It's going to be near impossible to have that conversation, you know?" At the flush on Leyla's cheeks, Lia couldn't help the grin took over her face. "Oh my god, you're blushing! Maybe it was the alcohol but that feeling is always a nice one to have, even if the situation is beyond complicated."
Shrugging her shoulders gently, Lia kept a brave face on but the list of things she considered embarrassing in her life at the moment was slowly growing. "You can pretty much google me and everything on that list comes up. I had to climb out of a bathroom window the other day because I didn't know the cowboy hat rule? I'm also ninety percent sure my skirt was tucked up for the walk home after that, so there's that, if that counts?"
"Can't wait!" The brunette grinned — and though the idea of even attempting to write scared her, at least they were both in the same boat and.. well, knowing Lia was part of it, it would definitely be fun at least, even if nothing came of it. "Like I could've expected some guy from out of town," she sighs, running her hands down her face. "I feel awful.. I knew of him, and I don't even remember if we told each other our names? I don't remember a lot, to be fair. But as soon as I figured out who he was, I wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear." That's what happened when she and Cali got together — she could count on the night to be wild as hell. "No, you're right. It wasn't like we gave each other our resumes," she chuckled, leaning her chin on the open palm of her hand. "But I probably should talk to him, I guess. I just.. don't know when a good possible time to go up to someone and be like, 'Hey, remember me? We kissed, and, oh by the way, I had no idea you were Juliana’s father.' Do I risk making everything more complicated if it's nothing?" Her features lit up with amusement as Lia asked about the kiss, something of a flush colouring her cheeks. "Not gonna lie, up there with the kisses i've had in my life time. Like I remember very little about that night, but I do remember that. It was butterflies-in-the-stomach, heart-racing, time-slowing-down good." She paused, her smile softening as she shook her head. "But who knows, maybe it was just the alcohol."
"Now can you please catch me up on something new in your life? Preferably just as embarrassing so I'm not alone in my hell over here, thanks."

starter for: @leylayilmz location: the chaos after the hurricane warning was issued
Cameron stood rooted to the spot for longer than was probably recommended after the festival organizer came on stage to announce that they had received a hurricane warning. He'd been flooded with anxiety at the mention of the danger. Round and round, his thoughts spiraled from the fact that he wasn't with his daughter during this emergency, to the worry over her safety, to the fear that he wouldn't be able to get ahold of her grandmother to find out if they were okay. He couldn't get out of his thoughts, and as the rain began to pelt down on him, he stood there, hyperventilating as jagged breathes sawed in and out of him.
Finally, in a ironic moment of good luck, someone ran straight into him, and the force of the collision snapped Cameron out of his thoughts. He made sure the person was alright before he finally sprung into action. Glancing around him, he joined the surge of people heading for the school. He only made it a few steps before he spotted the girl he now recognized as the woman from the masquerade ball. She was standing in place just like he had been a few moments ago, and as she looked wildly around her, clearly searching for someone, he knew they could relate in their fear for their loved ones.
Closing the distance, he called out over the rage of the storm around them, "Hey, you okay?"

Who: Leyla & Enzo event - summer music fest "Don't take this the wrong way..." Nia looked utterly relieved, half hanging out of her car and catching a glimpse of the other woman. "-but I'm so glad it's you... I'm too cute to get yelled at today." That didn't stop the other cars behind them from honking, but in the mess of festival traffic and the lanes being cut down with bright orange cones and yellow tape - she'd take a fender bender with someone she knew over a random concertgoer. The woman had hard merged last minute, but there hadn't been enough room for her to do so cleanly and her car got a love tap by Leyla's. Having pulled aside as close to the curb as she could for traffic to attempt to be moved around them, Nia grabbed her phone and keys and just barely slipped through the crack of her door to join her friend and survey the damage. "I'm really sorry though, I panicked. The lanes went down to one out of nowhere and I thought I could make it." Nia exhaled, still a little visibly flustered despite her good humor. "So... uh..." she put a finger to her nose. "Not it. I volunteer you as tribute, to call Enzo."

starter for: @leylayilmz location: briar ridge summer music fest
As the pair walked through the large arch signaling the entrance to the Summer Music Fest, Val let out a steadying breath. She was holding Leyla's hand and gave it a tight squeeze before looking over at her best friend. "Now, repeat after me, I'M A BAD BITCH!" she paused for dramatic effect, waiting for Leyla to repeat after her. "I look hot as heck and I couldn't care less that my baby daddy is performing here today!" Since they'd found out that Cash was performing at the music festival, they'd spent a lot of time shouting similar affirmations in their apartment. Val wasn't about to let her best friend head into day not feeling as confident in herself as she possibly could.

starter for: @leylayilmz location: everything goes
Marco was kicking himself the entire walk over to Everything Goes. He knew full well it had been too long since he'd checked in on Leyla. But part of him had subconsciously avoided the interaction because Leyla was too good at reading him. She'd see right through any bullshit explanation he tried to give for why he'd been in such a funk lately and Marco wasn't sure he was ready to explain the inner turmoil Cali was wreaking on his heart just yet.
But after a couple weeks of casual check in texts, Marco knew staying away at this point was ridiculous. So psyching himself up to be not let any emotions show on his face whatsoever, he pushed open the door, the bell overhead signalling his entrance to the cafe. Moving towards the bar, he immediately spotted the familiar head of brown hair he was looking for. "Umm ma'am, are you sure these blueberry muffins are up to code?" he asked, feigning his most generic, professional voice.

Saturday, March 30th - Paradise Hotel ➟ @leylayilmz
When Callum saw Leyla, he watched on for a moment with pride. The single mum was glowing and everyone in the place was sure to be head over heels for her. Not that that mattered. He was proud because he knew her. How hard she worked and she deserved a night like this. "I barely recognised ya' there without flour on your cheeks," he joked as he walked up behind her. "You enjoying the night?"

alexislarsson: Don't let her fool you, this bitch is actually 3 years old and not 30, but I love her with my whole heart, even if hers is the biggest in London. To my ride or die, my best friend, the one who would jump alongside me off a cliff, have the happiest birthday ❤️ @leylayilmazx

It was too late for that. Callum could see the greys coming in, but that didn't matter. Being a dad was everything to him. "That's the truth," he commented with a chuckle. The worst ways were never anything from Avie, as she brought him nothing but joy. It was the fear and responsibility of parenting. The dread of seeing your baby grow up and losing control over her. Callum could still remember the first scrape to her knee and the anguish within him. A plaster didn't feel like enough to help her, and he smothered her in hugs and kisses until she calmed her crying. Now, as he watched her grow and knew what would come with middle school and beyond, part of him longed to stay in the knee scrape phase. She was turning nine soon, but it felt like so much more.
Callum waved her thank you away like it was nothing, as it indeed was. That's what friends do for each other. He shook his head and then paused to lock eyes with her. "Leyla, of course I wouldn't!" If anything, he admired her. There were two of a kind. "If --" he paused. Callum hadn't said her name out loud forever, and today wasn't the day. "If my ex came back and wanted to take Avie from me... I think I'd lose my head," he admitted. "Truly, I wouldn't be as calm as you or understanding. In fact, the thought of it already has me planning an escape to Ireland." He laughed, but there was some truth to his words. He sipped his drink as she continued, nodding gently. She was utterly valid in all of her feelings, and Callum felt for her. "It's tough..." Callum sighed and looked at the bottle that his hands aimlessly played with, pondering her options. "I think the first step is figuring out his seriousness and going from there. It's too risky to let him back in too quickly, and then if he leaves, you'll be left to process that with Billie." He glanced her way and gave her a reassuring smile. "You're an amazing mother and woman. You'll figure it out."
"We can't have you full of greys at thirty, you're too young. Though, kids will age you regardless of how old you are.. in the best and worst of ways," she smiled, knowing that every ounce of what she had just said was true, but she wouldn't have it any other way. Billie was quite literally the best thing to ever happen to her. "Thank you.. you honestly didn't have to," she shook her head; she was never the type to want to feel like she owed anyone anything. Leyla took a moment, letting his question settle, the weight of his words and concern for her causing her to be lost in her thoughts. "You really wouldn't judge me if I said I'd love to keep Billie all to myself, forever?" Something of a laugh escaped her lips, her gaze lowering as she swirled the contents of her fresh cocktail with the straw. "It's complicated, you know? Part of me is so angry that he's come back now, after all this time just.. thinking he can be a part of her life whenever he wants to be. He.. wasn't there before. He didn't want to be." That part still stung. "But then there's another part of me that knows she deserves the chance to know him, if he's really serious about making things right." She looked over at Callum now, grateful for his understanding, and grateful that she had the chance to just.. hash out her innermost thoughts with someone. "It's just hard to know what's best for her, and it's even harder to know what's best for me in this situation."
