(Rudolph, Mrs. Santa and The Jingle Sluts) 54 Below is festively decorated. Red and green lighting bathes the venue. Four carolers in bonnets move from table to table. Two elves, in fact, Mistletoe Munchkins (Sarah Al-Bazali and Bailey Forman) gambol through the club disseminating candy. Halo somewhat askew, Christmas Angel (Annie Golden), opens and closes the show.

(Joe Iconis; The Christmas Angel) To say the Extravaganza is an immersive production minimizes the effect of 60 talented, gleefully crazed performers comprising Joe Iconis’s theater “family” (those who’ve appeared in his concerts and musicals). The merry band commandeers every corner of the premises with camaraderie; song, dance, sketches and choreographed mayhem, sometimes interacting with enthusiastic audience. Our heads swivel like Linda Blair in The Exorcist.

(Fancy Tree, Katrina Rose Dideriksen , Mistletoe Munchkins, Mr. Macabee) Iconis explains he had a tough year – compelled to take a lot of less than viable gigs including one upstate just before this show. The company was returning by a bus that crashed in a snowstorm, survivors unknown. “I really needed to get together with my family,” he says sorrowfully. “Don’t let the smile fool you/I’m quite depressed…” Iconis sings, gesturing to unoccupied microphones. Three homeless urchins (Lauren Marcus, Morgan Siobhan Green and Jason SweetTooth Williams) straggle in and are allowed to stay because, hey! it’s Christmas.  

(The Urchins) As if things weren’t bad enough, landlord Cyril Von Miserthorpe (Will Roland) – think Snidely Whiplash – is calling in loans on 54 Below worth over a million dollars in order to build a block of apartments. Cyril is particularly bitter missing Rufus (Philip Romano) “who used to lick my face, but died at Christmas having run into the street after a rolling ornament.” His husband (not dog) later appears very much alive sinuously wearing a silk dressing gown. Flamboyant and pink “Fancy Tree” (Leonard Sullivan) mishears “fantasy” and, taking it as an invitation, also shows up. Tree has her own sad tale having been turned down by every window on Fifth Avenue.

(Flashback Joe and Flashback Mom) Still the show must go on! “Joe’s Flashback” is a trio of songs dramatizing his early life. Fleeing a histrionic, discouraging mother (Jackie Sanders) the hero (Flashback Joe – Owen Smith) travels to daddy’s family in Jackalope Holler, West Virginia “where they appreciate art.” A squirrel, a reindeer, and a raccoon (while dancers tap in the aisles) are interrupted by mom’s arrival and a horrible accident wiping them all out. Guilt-ridden, Iconis keeps his family’s ashes in a hollow plastic candy cane.

(Animals of Jackalope Holler) There’s considerable original material (Iconis can write to any theatrical moment) as well as Italian, Hawaiian, Jewish, and Spanish salutes to the season and a roster of standbys like “Here Comes Santa Claus,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Sleigh Bells,” and “Oh, Tannenbaum.” Katrina Rose Dideriksen sings the hell out of “Please Come Home for Christmas.” Bartender Mr. Macabee (Jeremy Morse) can’t resist the chance to sing.

(Cyril and Krampus) Krampus (Lilly Tobin) – great costume, a horned anthropomorphic figure who, in the Central and Eastern tradition, accompanies Saint Nicholas, oozes “Baby It’s Cold Outside” – to Cyril. A drunk, raunchy Mrs. Santa Claus (Lorinda Lisitza) fronts a chorus of Jingle Sluts, stumbles, and gyrating, climbs on a table.

(Santa and Sweet Baby Jesus) Santa (Jason SweetTooth Williams), depressed by competition from “Sweet Baby Jesus” takes a seat at a banquette while Iconis and company try to cheer him up. Jesus himself (Bill Coyne) arrives lasciviously and literally stretched across the bar area wearing a loin cloth and shades. (There’s a miracle in the offing.) Mary Magdalene (Liz Lark Brown) – with a Yiddish accent – strips down to mini dress sequins to perform “Santa Baby” with her scantily clad backup boys. There’s even dancing candy!

(Mary and the Boys) Needless to say, missing cast arrives, Cyril finds the spirit of Christmas, family is reunited, and everyone’s holiday dreams come true. The show is a love fest, also irreverent, salacious, silly, clever; a 2 1/2 hour musical, not a concert. Iconis sits behind the piano benevolently watching his creation like The Wizard of Oz. John Simpkins’ Hellzapoppin production is masterfully directed madness.

Ex·trav·a·gan·za: an elaborate and spectacular entertainment or production – which this was in spades. Put me down for next year!

Out of curiosity what happens to all of your dark urges post-game?

This is going to be LONG, so i'm putting it under the "read more".

Thanks so much for asking and giving me an opportunity to rant about my boys! (they're all masc, yeah. All kind of trans. I am not projecting anything. Also I lied just now)

As of now I have 3 (4 counting Morgan) developed till post-game Durges.

Morgan is my first playthrough and maybe shouldn't be counted, but he and Astarion leave for Underdark. Morgan is a drow bard btw and his story is the messiest bullshit ever bc at that point I was still figuring BG3 out.

Now to the fun part! (June, Levi and Nemo). Mind what all 3 of them are romantically involved with Gortash and it plays its part.

So let's start with my favorite druid asshole Levi. He visually appears to be a tiefling. 6 ft tall handsome young man with one blazing green eye, one eye pitch-black (later an implant of the eye of the devil he took for himself), wavy ginger hair, freckles EVERYWHERE and a very arrogant attitude. His horns have been broken by Sarevok when he was around adolescence.

Levi has 2 versions of how his live goes after the end credits. Basically his good (canon) ending and his bad ending.

Bad ending is where Gortash dies, Levi goes the whole "I am god" way, takes the Crown of Karsus for himself and erases Bhaal from the existence of the universe, successfully taking his domain, his aspect and his place. It's a lonely life of godhood for him and the one where he loses himself.

His good ending branches depending if Noah (his son) exists.

If Noah indeed exists, Levi has a whole ass husband and a son waiting for him at home (in Baldur's Gate) and a whole new playground of the city. He transforms part of the city into the garden and creates the new circle of druids with Kagha as the achdruid. But inevitably fuck off to hells to fight not his battle bc he can and he loves fighting.

Levi is set on a long ass quest conquering Hells bc: 1) it's fun. 2) His homie needs Mizora dead. 3) His other homie needs Zariel dead.

If Noah wasn't born, his path goes almost the same way (considering Hells), but it's the main focus of his, and the main goal. In that version he wants all of Mephisto's wonders for himself and operates from the House of Hope what he and Gortash live in (while planning evil things for evil reasons, yeah. "If heavens are out of reach, we will make Hells ours" kind of an attitude.)

Basically for Levi it's either godhood but the path of loneliness or a lot of shenanigans in hells with his two best friends (Wyll and Karlach) and the wicked partnership with Gortash. Watch him successfully balance out THAT dynamic mix.

Then there's Nemo. Nemo is non-amnesiac Durge who got very weak after his sister's attack. Looks like a half-drow (ppl keep calling him half-breed and he hates it. He is a pureblood bhaalspawn, damn it!) Looks like a golden child with sun-warmed skin, golden eyes and hair and A LONG ASS SCAR ORIN LEFT OVER HIS PERFECT FACE. THANKS FOR NOTHING, SISTER. Short (5 ft). The only 'off' thing about him is what his sclera is black.

He is also the mastermind behind the successful creation and management of the current cult of Bhaal in BG as it is. Nemo's misadventures are featured in the series of oneshots called "Empty Prayers".

He has only a good ending because I said so, and this is where he kills Orin and himself in a double suicide act, robbing Bhaal of the chosen and a child. Bhaal throws a fit, Withers plays a savior.

EVERYONE is angry at Nemo, Orin is left with no memory of who she is or what the fuck is going on.

No one is happy 2.0.

His post-game ending is where he is a shadow over the BG, a leader of the newly established assassins' guild into which he drags his lover and partner in crime Astarion.

Nemo is a man who transfers the cult of Bhaal into something else and earns money for it. It is easy, because most of the cultists only knew him as a leader and several of them were raised by him.

He basically lowers his expectations and chills, having joint-custody over the city underground with Ninefingers.

Gortash manages to stay arcduke in that one, but ba-a-a-arely. No one is happy, even Gortash, because it's such a mediocre win it's embarrassing. He will manage to pull Nemo into some heist-like bullshit very soon, that with him and his very useful guild of trained cutthroats who are loyal to Nemo and Nemo alone.

The last one - June. My least fav child bc I am v conflicted with how he just branched into 2 separate entities. @ June come on. He has either grey hair and silver eyes (selunite!June) or black-blue hair and light-blue eyes (cambion!June). Either way his skin is greyish-blue with freckles, his horns are grey as some ash can be. He is 5 ft 5.

June is either tiefling priest of Selune or cambion grandchild of Mephisto. I consider both of the versions like alt. of the same person.

In his good (canon) ending June leaves for Underdark with Gortash and Astarion to conquer it and seek all the netherise artifacts left there.

Ex priest of Selûne June does it in some quest of "salvation", cambion June does it because he's the forbidden knowledge seeking bastard (Mephisto raised him, ok). Both versions of June defy Bhaal, though for different reasons.

Now, there is a bad ending for June too, which is highly tied to how he treats the situation with Gortash and how much has the tadparty affected him. If he has failed to develop enough ties with the team, June agrees with everything the man says - Gortash dies at the Netherbrain Blast - June becomes the new Chosen of Bane.

Which strangely fits both versions of June, because selunite!June DID pray to Bane, he just never answered.

And cambion!June is a little too alike Bane's own son (a hybrid of a god and fiend who Bhaal probably was going to use the same way Bane used his son) and in a dire need of a plan to out-do Mephisto.

If June does have close ties with his team and they affect his decision-making, then he's a little more smart about it, tadpoles Gortash, and that derails everything to Gortash joining the team and all hells breaking loose (to the good end. I promise)

There's also Callisto, but Callisto didn't live further than the escape from the nautiloid. I will play them after I break my pc's mind and re-merge it gently, after which BG3 (hopefully) will run on my pc without any third parties involved. But Callisto is a half-drow priest of Tiamat. My baby said FUCK toxic father, I want to be adopted by a toxic mother instead. Their main long goal is freeing Tiamat from her prison in Hell.

Beth was pulled into Ocyn with her two children because at the time she was pulled away she was feeding her son and in close proximity to her daughter. She wasn't sure if that matter or not but she was glad that she had her children with her because she didn't know what she would do if they got left behind. After coming to the realization that Ocyn was her new home she settled in, got a job that she thought she could do and honestly she was almost happy to have gotten pulled away. Their were no walkers here, no cruel people trying to hurt her or her children. This world was better, a better place to raise her family.

Beth Greene is dead ….. or that’s what everyone believed. Dawn had shot Beth, a bullet through the head and that caused Daryl to kill Dawn because of their time together Beth had grown very close to Daryl maybe even closer than friends and Daryl seeing Beth be killed had broken him. He carried her dead body out and he was visibly broken as was her sister Maggie. The group had to keep moving and they buried Beth thinking she was dead, after all, she had been shot in the head but they couldn’t be more wrong. The bullet had missed almost all her important brain tissue but it had grazed her limbic system, the part of her brain where she had her memories causing her to forget everything. Beth woke up in a grave and she had a panic attack and tried to claw her way out of it, thankful for her, a man had been walking by when he saw this petite hand breaking through the dirt. His name was Morgan. Morgan could have just kept walking, though it was just a walker trying to escape something told him to dig and that’s where he found a very terrified, very confused Beth. She asked what happened before everything went blank and when she awoke she was in a bed in a cabin with a man she didn’t know. He told her that he had found a name tag necklace on her that had told him that her name was Beth but that’s all he knew. Beth didn’t remember anything but she had the overwhelming need to have to find someone but she didn’t know who that was. Beth put a lot of trust in Morgan seeing him as almost a father figure and a friend. He taught her about the new world, told her about everything that had happened and she began to survive with him. It wasn’t until one day when she was hunting that she heard something, footsteps, at first, she thought it was walkers but it wasn’t they were people and she was afraid. She started to run and find Morgan. Instead of finding Morgan she walked into a herd of walkers and she had to fight her way out of it, she managed to get free unharmed and found herself on an empty street without knowing where Morgan was or where she was. She tried for days to find Morgan but when she couldn’t, she decided to survive on her own. 2023 Bahamas Cruise, Part 3, Mar. 9

This is the Harbor Master Tessie Rolle selling some of her home grown produce to Nancy. The two of them discussed the growing of Key Limes, Jack Fruit, and Wax Jambu. Tessie has received a grant and planted 150 Key Lime trees. They are due to start producing next year. We bought green tomatoes and green bell peppers. Tessie was true of farmers everywhere and Bahamians in particular, she threw in some free plantains.

Nancy took Tessie a bag of store bought dried Key Lime slices, found at Publix in the States. Key Limes don’t have a very good shelf life. So maybe Tessie can dry and package them prior to shipping.

We had watched the mailboat come in early in the morning, The inner harbor is very small but they turn the freighter around in there and then back up to a small concrete ramp. Then the fun begins. Things that are on board that have been bought and shipped from Nassau, are off loaded. Everything found on the island has been brought in by ship. Andros is one of the biggest islands and has plenty of fresh water and more soil than most of the Bahamas. So they grow several crops.

We had watched a youtube documentary of Bahamas agriculture recently. There is a group of Mennonites nearby who have a large farm. Several of the cruisers had goon there and bought fresh vegetables the day or two prior.

Here are two of the Mennonites picking up their orders, as well as shipping out Persian limes.

There was one freighter docked at the outer harbor wall strictly taking empty pallets off the island.

This small skiff is tied up next to the mailboat. I had watched them come to Morgans Bluff in heavy seas earlier. They pulled over just outside the inner Harbor entrance, and prepared to dive in 6 ft. of water. I thought it was a bit strange since there are no conch grazing in the outer harbor.

As you can see they are cleaning some conch to sell to the people waiting on the mailboat. The interesting thing about conch is, it will live several days out of the water tucked in its shell. So the guys gather 5 conch and punch a hole in the lip. Then they take a piece of string and tie all five together. Once they are tied up and can’t escape they are placed back in the water till needed.

We found several groups of conch tied up below our boat. For whatever reason, they were left there and eventually died.

Thinking back to the guys who sold us conch at the back of the boat. They warned us of large sharks in the harbor. It is all making sense now. This is where they deposit conch for the Thursday Mailboat. And they didn’t want us poking about.

The guys in the skiff I saw that morning picked up their deposit of conch then went into the harbor to sell them. Someone is shipping out a pallet of live conch. If you look closely you can see they used 5 pallets to make the box above.

This little white truck is loaded down with large bags of frozen crawfish tails.

Pallets of supplies are dropped here there and everywhere. Women keep track of whats happening. Men are the stevedores.

With this many people in one spot the entrepreneurs show up. Two different food shacks feed the hungry. The Bahama telephone business Aliv, brings in a truck to top off your monthly phone minutes.

We walked up the hill looking for the highest spot on the Island, Morgans Bluff. You can just imagine the Pirate Capt. Henry Morgan posting a lookout on the bluff to see if there was a ship to plunder. Or should they run from attackers themselves. We never found the bluff just a small housing settlement. I certainly thought about their slogan when we sailed away the next day.

Our freezer is working better this year. I spent a month changing out the foam in the freezer and adding a fan to the evaporator. Nancy found that she needs to “shuffle” the frozen food every couple of days. Then she scrapes the frost off of the coils, rearranging the food when she puts it back in. In the past we waited too long and had to spray water on the coils. This only made the bags of meat freeze to the inside of the freezer. Which then took longer to get out of the freezer on the next “shuffle”. A vicious cycle for sure.

To help cool the compressor I prop open the nearest hatch above it with a pool noodle (see the red item on the right of the photo”. All of these things help us keep the meat in the freezer better.

You can see our solar shower bag hanging at the swim platform. So nice to hose off with warm water after a dip.

So ends March 9th. Dinghy is secured to the davits, Life Jackets and tethers are ready, alarm is set for 0500. We set sail over the horizon before daybreak tomorrow.
