She’s a woman who likes to stay two steps ahead of everything but this, this has taken a certain toll on her. But if her blue eyes are tired, it’s impossible to see it. Not a hair out of place, not a crease in her blouse. Amelia sits neatly in the chair offered to her, as cold as ever. She’s oh so aware of the metal of her watch that sits against her wrist, the tick of the second hand like a bomb.
She’s spent weeks sitting on this decision, weeks planning, weeks preparing. Nothing Amelia does is without weeks on weeks of thinking - so this meeting isn’t a negotiation. This is a kindness. A courtesy born of love - even if takes Liam, Aurora and Richard a while to understand this. There’s a thousand ways this could have gone down and this is one with the least collateral damage. Her father might actually call it soft, but isn’t that what this is all about? Amelia was always most like her father and even that six feet of dirt and his death didn’t make her forget it.
She feels far from him now.
“I’m leaving.” Amelia says abruptly, with all the warmth of a blizzard, when she has the rooms attention. She’s all business, take no prisoners.
“And to be clear, I’m not leaving Chicago. I’m leaving you.”

Everything was fucking nuts. Richie had sent Gio a message about Gerry being missing. He knew about it. Taking attendance before training made everything easier when it came to punishments. The thing about Gerry was the fact that he was missing the entire day. As of right now Gio was going with whatever Richie needed at the moment. Liam and Aurora were off doing who knows what but it definitely wasn’t helping them. The Generals were left without guidance except from a few messages from Richie. That’s why they had to take it into their own hands by creating the A-Team. Bonebreakers that made it easier for them to get control of the lower ranks.
Gio had taken over the driving for the day. Richie didn’t seem stable enough to get behind the wheel. The boy was stressed out enough. “I’m always ready Richard. It’s a boys trip today. I’ve got my guy Holden coming.” Gio leaned his he head out the open window, spotting his giant friend. “Yo, Superman. Hurry up. We’ve gotta get ready for family night.”

It was difficult being put in this position, but Holden knew that it had to be done. You can’t leave the family and expect nothing in return and Gerry and Amelia had to be punished for leaving the family. He had known both of them since he joined, they had been his family, but they chose to leave and that can’t go unpunished. Holden had to deal with Gerry, with Gio and Richie, well now he was Richard. Ever since the promotion, Richard scared the shit out of Holden. It was something he hadn’t expected of him, but he rose to the occasion.
Walking to the car, he gave Gio a stare, “You know I hate it when you call me that,” They headed on their way to meet Gerry. Gerry probably knew what was going to happen, deep down, he saw the man as a friend, so what would be happening today, was going to suck. Holden didn’t get into this because of emotions, he was good at what he did: a clean killer.
The familiar shape of Cloud Gate entered his view as the three of them walked towards the giant metallic bean. Had the sculpture not reflected the man they were looking for, Holden could spot him a mile away… “Hey Gerry…” Speaking up, interrupting the man, “I think you know why we’re here.” Hopefully he wouldn’t make a scene and leave with them easily.

Gerald knew the moment the text came in that they’d finally figured it out— or, at least, the kid did. Of course he would. Likely the most observant little shit out of the whole family, it only makes sense. Each question asked is answered, a location shared, and the older of the bunch would sit and wait for the troops while staring at this stupid bean thing. Who the hell makes this shit, anyway? It doesn’t take long. He sees not just the kid, but Holden and Gio, too. His fate is sealed, and he opens his mouth to greet them if only to be cut off from speaking at all. Gerald O’Shea would nod, keeping that mouth shut as he walks to the vehicle. There would be no arguing as he climbs in, nor any word at all until they are well underway. It’s so damn quiet.

“You know what I was thinking about? Mrs. Doubtfire.” With a big grin suddenly forming, Ger looks at Richie before glancing around the vehicle. “Now, you might argue but the best scene in the whole goddamn movie is the birthday party with all the animals and that bad music. Remember that kid swinging from the chandelier? Literally swinging? Amazing. And the dad is just acting like one of the kids but the mom comes home and she’s scarier than the damn cop outside. I tell you what— that dad doesn’t get enough credit.” On and on he goes.. or at least, for so long as he’s allowed. It isn’t until they pull up to some god forsaken place and the car is parked. “Alright, boys. What’s it gonna be?”

You seem down, kid.
Richie stays behind as he lets Gio and Holden take the lead. It’s not his time to make a scene and it’s wiser to show indifference in public. He doesn’t trust himself to explode later, the feelings of anger finally starting to bubble underneath the surface. It’s a knee jerk reaction and he wants to brush away the sour flavor that sits on his tongue. Amelia’s betrayal caught him off guard, sure, but something about Gerry’s makes it feel like a harder punch to the chest. The feeling of failure is looming and Gerry’s departure brings in the storm.
Kid, are you sure you’re doing alright?
He goes without question and Richie doesn’t know if that makes it worse. It doesn’t affect him in any way the slightest, the act of treason to his own family. Richie enters the vehicle first, keeping his demeanor calm. There’s a place and time for everything and he doesn’t want to show Gerry how much this affects him, how his decision to go join Amelia is further prove that maybe Richie can’t do this. Not enough. Richard isn’t smart enough to see this coming.
You’re doing fine, kid.
The mention of Mrs. Doubtfire has Richie flinching slightly. It’s a remembrance of a time when the family was intact, when hanging out with Gerry as a kid meant stupid movies he hasn’t seen, covering up bruises, and hiding from Mason’s wrath. Now it’s used to taunt him and God, it’s like twisting the knife that’s already in his back. He feels the glance his way and still he refuses to turn. Richie knew that Amelia always had the capability of making something hurt but it seems like Gerry followed her there as well.
I got your back.
Liar.
The abandoned building comes into view and Richie doesn’t hesitate to exit the vehicle. He figures that Holden and Gio can bring Gerry in without trouble and so he walks to the side as they enter. There’s no delaying the inevitable.
“Gerry. I’m only going to ask you once and I would love it if you didn’t insult me by lying. Were you planning on leaving the family?”
