He doesn't want to listen to that treacherous part of his mind with which he had made peace. He was not going to think that his mother had abandoned him to his fate. Not today. Not when the rational side of his mind was thinking about how he was going to organize a funeral if the body had turned to ashes before his eyes.

Vampires are already dead. It was a lie. Billy could measure his pulse and grow like any other person. Billy has a family secret...

Billy is a dhampir.

His sister is one... was. She is now a full vampire. Billy is not. Billy concludes that this is the reason why his mother abandoned him.

Billy is the human who must stop his sister Mary.
