What's your favorite Venti lore/references?

For me it's him guiding souls after death and being connected to istaroth. Also the whole prodigal son thing, What do you think it means for him? (Hope you don't mind getting asks like this, i couldn't help but be curious)

DEATH

First off, I absolutely love his ties to death! Usually in media, when gods deal in the realm of death, they're all dark and dreary and either sad or evil. Venti, on the other hand, embodies more of the aspects of comfort. A final rest after a life well lived. Barbatos is said to guide the souls of the deceased to the afterlife on a wind, yes, but he also lets them live on through song! There is a belief that someone isn't truly dead until their name has been spoken for the last time, and Venti places importance of using names in his songs, as seen in the manga when he asks Venessa if he can use her name in a song.

There's also how heavily anemo ties into the concept of loss (gestures at the dead friend gives you an anemo vision joke), and the anemoi wind spirits from myths were also once a guide of souls to the afterlife.

There's also the post I made last night- "Not death, but his brother, sleep" (shout out to The Ra.ven Cycle book series). In Greek mythologies, which Venti does have a few ties to, Death and Sleep are brothers- and we all know of Venti's ties to sleep. Aside from his times of sleep, he was also seen singing the guards to sleep when going to free Venessa.

ANYWAY all this to say I think along with the wind, freedom, and hope, death is one domain that Venti falls into. (Which just makes him and Hu Tao even better buddies).

ISTAROTH

This is where I can more theory crafting rather than reflective. We've learned the the Thousand Winds were the Thousand Winds of Time. Now, I do not think that Venti is a son in the traditional sense- rather, I think that the Thousand Winds of Time form one being- Istaroth.

Venti also called himself a single breeze/wind, so I believe he was one of the thousand that made up Istaroth, only to rise up above the others in terms of power during the rebellion against Decarabian, and then becoming a god in his own right.

Do I have much evidence for this? Not at all! It's just my thoughts.

(Also, apparently prodigal means wastefully extravagant, which while I admit my first thought is his indulgences in drink and revelry, also make me wonder if it is perhaps that he has made Mondstadt into a home where people can act as such if they please- free to do so.)

OTHER THOUGHTS

One of my favourite bits of lore comes from the Wings of Shimmering Galaxy lore. It's spoken from the perspective of Venti post Archon War! It goes to say,

"For he knew that someone must heal the hurts of the world, and thus someone needed to find a way to communicate with them."

From Zhongli's character stories, we know that Venti went to visit, bringing a gift of wine- and that that led to the 7 all meeting together regularly. He is a bard, and the god of the wind- music and poetry flow like the wind, after all. Of course he would facilitate communication! HOWEVER, this didn't work for a long, long time. In fact, the glider lore continues,

"But the poet knew this would happen. (...) Still, the poet did not give up, though not because he believed or anything. This was just the way he was."

Despite being called the god of Hope by Neuvilette, Venti didn't have any hope. He just... didn't know what else to do.

Anyway, I should end it here, before I ramble on for many more paragraphs about all the things I love about Venti.

Fandom: TIGER & BUNNY.

Muse #4 -YURI PETROV.

Age: 27-29 ( manga and anime )

As a child, Yuri's sense of justice was shaped by his father, the famous superhero Mr. Legend, who told him never to turn a blind eye to evil. However, this incident also gave birth to Yuri's sense of justice that true evil must be eliminated at all cost.

Although Judge Yuri Petrov makes a brief appearance early on, Lunatic starts making his presence known in an early time in the series, when murderers start to mysteriously die in extremely strong blue-green fires - particularly ones that are in prison. As the arc spans a long time, Lunatic's intentions are ever more mysterious. He was first thought to have a connection to Ouroboros, a criminal syndicate, because one of the men he killed had the group's tattoo. However, it soon becomes clear that this isn't the case.

Lunatic speaks, mocking the heroes and their sense of justice, calling it 'weak and frail' and deeming them 'pitiful heroes who can't save or or punish anyone.' He proceeds to tell them that he will show them 'true justice' and introduces himself as: "My name is Lunatic. I follow my own code of justice." Kotetsu (Wild Tiger) accuses him of simply committing murder, to which Lunatic only responds that this accusation was interesting and that he would remember Wild Tiger. After burning most of the surroundings and criminals, clashing with the heroes, and refusing to answer any questions, he flees, disappearing, much to the frustration of Barnaby.

Later a close-up look of Judge Yuri Petrov, apparently exiting the sole surviving criminal's hospital room. Barnaby thanks him for his work and Judge Petrov responds that it's simply part of his job and to let him know if there's anything else he can do to help.

Sternbild is in uproar over Lunatic, with most of the people appearing to find his code of justice very appealing. Favorable reviews about him appear on the news, including commentary from former heroes such as Stealth Soldier. It gets to the point that people are starting to question the necessity of having heroes at all. This is enough to cause concern for what appears to be the influential people or upper management of Sternbild. Judge Yuri Petrov actually raises the issue of doing something about Lunatic himself at the meeting, claiming that the Justice Bureau does not approve of capital punishment.

Later it is revealed for certain that Lunatic is not connected to Ouroboros, as he tries to kill the accidental murderer and former friend of Ivan (Origami Cyclone), Edward Keddy, as he escaped to kill Ivan. His code extends indiscriminately towards all murderers, regardless of affiliation. However, he also states that senseless killing is against his principles. When Ivan tries to save his friend by taking his appearance and place, Lunatic correctly guesses which is the true Edward and aims at him, stating that all sinners are cowards. When Ivan blocks his aim, he concludes that those who help criminals are also criminals themselves, but Kotetsu and Barnaby come into the fray, exchanging blows with Lunatic. While unresponsive to inquiries about Ouroboros, Lunatic does tell them that he has no desire to fight heroes, only giving murderers what they deserve, according to his own justice. Kotetsu retorts that his idea of justice is arresting idiots like Lunatic, and after exchanging punches that cracked Lunatic's mask, Lunatic tells him he'll see where Kotetsu's sense of justice leads him and leaves. We later see him sitting down with his damaged mask off at a table, drinking a beverage and researching Wild Tiger.

Yuri then appears to blend into the background, particularly during Jake's arc, where he spends most of his time as Judge Petrov rather than Lunatic, simply observing the situation and apparently staying true to his word to 'see where [Wild Tiger's] justice leads him'.

Later, this changes. We are allowed a sneak peek into Yuri's past, his history with his father, Legend, and the ghost of his father haunting him, asking him if he truly believes that what he did was the right thing.

After seeing the ghost of his father after a nightmare about his past, Lunatic goes after a criminal called Mr. Hopper, who, strangely, as we see in the file Yuri brings up, is not a murderer at all, with only counts of robbery and kidnapping against him. He is, however, according to the announcer, suspected of murder, as well as robbery. The announcer's mention of Barnaby breaking Legend's record appears to affect Yuri, right before he stands up and presumably prepares to change into Lunatic. But after encountering Wild Tiger, he apparently realizes something, calling it a joke and jumping off the building to disappear in flames. He does not spare the Lady Killer, however, who does have several counts of murder, going after him in one of the hostess bars that the killer frequents and killing him outright, despite surrender and protests from the criminal that heroes didn't kill people. Right before he delivers the killing shot, he tells the Lady Killer that he made two mistakes - one, that Lunatic was not a hero, and the other, that Lunatic follows his own code of justice.

His next crucial appearance is later when, in the midst of a city who believed Kotetsu was a murderer, Lunatic intervened and saved him from both his former colleagues and the false Wild Tiger. In his normal persona as Judge Petrov, he had apparently run a search on Kotetsu and Wild Tiger, finding all records gone or inaccessible and thus making his decision. Arriving in the alley where Kotetsu has been cornered, he announces that passing judgement on those who are truly sinful is his idea of justice and that letting Kotetsu be captured by 'false justice' is against his beliefs. After having made it clear that he doesn't believe Kotetsu is the murderer, he helps him to escape by blocking the others with his flames, asking Kotetsu if he will let his justice end here.

Lunatic appears at the end of first season where he murders the recently captured Albert Maverick on his way to incarceration.

Facts:

Tiktok as a community has chosen to collectively migrate TO a chinese owned app that is purely in Chinese out of utter spite and contempt for meta/x and the gov that is backing them.

My fyp is a mix of “i would rather mail memes to my friends than ever return to instagram reels” and “i will xerox my data to xi jinping myself i do not care i share my ss# with 5 other people anyway” and “im just getting ready for my day with my chinese made coffee maker and my Chinese made blowdryer and my chinese made clothing and listening to a podcast on my chinese made phone and get in my car running on chinese manufactured microchips but logging into a chinese social media? Too much for our gov!” etc.

So the government was scared that tiktok was creating a sense of class consciousness and tried to kill it but by doing so they sent us all to xiaohongshu. And now? Oh it’s adorable seeing this gov-manufactured divide be crossed in such a way.

This is adorable and so not what they were expecting. Im sure they were expecting a reluctant return to reels and shorts to fill the void but tiktokers said fuck that, we will forge connections across the world. Who you tell me is my enemy i will make my friend. That’s pretty damn cool.

Fandom: Gintama.

Muse #1- Gintoki Sakata

Age 27-29 ( manga and anime )

Gintoki Sakata is the main protagonist of the Gintama series. He is the founder and president of the Yorozuya, as well as a highly-skilled samurai, having fought in the Joui War in the past. During the war, he became known as the Shiroyasha (a kind of demon in Buddhism and Hinduism) due to his powerful swordsmanship, demonic appearance, white clothing, and silver hair.

Gintoki is extremely lazy. He is often seen wearing a dumb expression on his face and spends his days lounging around reading Shounen Jump whilst imparting wise and sage-like advice to his younger employees, even though he doesn't actually know what he's talking about most of the time. Due to his poverty and unwillingness to do mostly anything, he is always behind on his rent and often runs away when Otose, his landlady, comes to collect the payment. He often blows all of his savings on Pachinko and other gambling games, which Shinpachi and Kagura often scold him for.

However, even though he is lazy, Gintoki is quite dedicated to his job and tries to help people with the best of his abilities (usually in a very strange and twisted way). He is sarcastic and unattached but he values connections more than anyone in the series. For the most part, Gintoki is content with hanging out with his friends. However different aspects of his personality emerge depending on the situation. In the more comedy arcs he is characterized as cowardly and sarcastic, but in serious arcs he is a unwavering and will die for someone who he cares about. He very much enjoys, joking, being passionate, and arguing about stupid stuff so he and his friends at the end of a day can have a good laugh.

Gintoki's past continues to influence who he is and how he acts. He admitted to Umibozu that he believes that having a loving family is all someone really needs in life, due to his lack of a family during his childhood. He is very respectful of the memory of his teacher Yoshida Shouyou due to his actions (the arrest of his teacher is one of the main reasons he joined the Joui War. The other was to protect his friends who also joined the war).

His inability to protect many of his friends in the Joui War still haunts him, especially the crushing guilt and regret that consumed him. As a result, he is very protective of his current friends and holds very little value to his own life. This carelessness can be seen in how Gintoki can plow through armies without tiring, apathetic to the serious injuries he sustains whilst cutting down his enemies. He told Kawakami Bansai, during the Shinsengumi Crisis, that the only reason he fought in the Joui War was to protect his friends and not his country or the samurai way.

The more comical stories depict Gintoki as a coward, attempting to leave behind many of his friends to save his own life. However, he is willing to risk his life for anyone and he is shown to be extremely caring towards his friends and has killed Naraku members, terrorists, and Amanto to protect them. He is extremely frightened of ghosts, but will usually deny their existence so that he doesn't look like a coward. His fear of the supernatural is shared by Hijikata and usually results in quite a few comic interactions between the two.

He has many childish personality traits despite his age, and has even called himself a "child in a man's body." One such trait is his insatiable love for sweets, which has placed him at risk of getting diabetes several times. His favorite food is chocolate parfait and he loves chugging down strawberry milk whenever he gets access to it. He also is repeatedly shown to have difficulty expressing his emotions and often disguises his true feelings under a cold outer layer. He loves alcohol, but his tolerance for sake is not high. At one point, his tendency to act like a complete idiot while being completely smashed.

Though several female characters have shown an interest in Gintoki, such as Shimura Tae, Sarutobi Ayame and Tsukuyo, it is shown that most of their love is unrequited. However, he does have a huge crush on the weather girl, Ketsuno Ana, and once stated he wished to marry her (possibly because of her smile). Despite or due to all of these traits Gintoki possesses an immense amount of charisma and has amassed a quite large group of friends. When it is needed, he is able to impart words of wisdom and can make those around him feel much more alive even with his inappropriate jokes and deadpan statements.

This ability has given him very loyal allies, friends, and even former enemies. As Hinowa pointed out, he was able to affect Tsukuyo (who is usually a dead-serious and cold-blooded woman) and even made friends with the Shogun, despite the situation always turning out less than ideal whenever the latter would be around.
