(I usually go that Abel is a Sumerian demigod because Sumerian is one of his favorite languages, I am more familiar with Mesopotamian mythology, and because I can make some jokes like this one)

Almost. She knew that word too well, better than most. Her feet carried her forward only part of the way as he finally came into view. Getting him out was one of the best things she'd ever done, maybe the only good thing. Sending him back? That held its own weight: why did he have to be a hero? His strength was unlike anything she'd ever seen, and she needed some of that right now. It wasn't all for nothing, and if anyone could see that, she knew Abe could.

Unsurprisingly, early afternoons on the weekdays were pretty much dead zones at the arcade, typically with only the errant, frazzled parent and a screaming toddler as the only patrons until school let out.

So Mars was posted up at the front desk, flipping through a People Magazine he'd stolen from the dentist's office earlier that week. Some reality TV star he didn't recognize was on the cover, and he wasn't really reading it actively — he really had no excuse for stealing it in the first place, only that he had an impulse and, as always, followed through on it.

So when he saw a body approaching the counter in his periphery, it was a double edged sword. On one hand, it was something to break up the monotony; on the other, it was a person he'd have to interact with.

He reluctantly raised his head, and the ambivalent feeling didn't go away when he recognized who it was. "Chels," he greeted, drawing out the 's.' "To what do I owe the...pleasure?"

Astrid had burned through multiple attempts at picking up hobbies since she'd been back in Aurora full time. There was an expensive digital camera sitting on a shelf, abandoned quickly after she couldn't figure out how to adjust her ISO settings, an old Spanish guitar she'd picked up at a vintage store only to find that her hands were too small to really get around the neck properly, even a pair of crochet needles and too many different colored yarns in a basket somewhere in her room.

She was bored, and clearly nothing was sticking, so for her latest venture she decided she might try something that required absolutely zero skill at all: becoming really pretentious about music. It was what led her to Tidal Wave, with a brand new record player and sound system already on their way to her apartment and in need of something to actually play.

She was examining the back of a Radiohead record, half-interested and drifting absentmindedly through the aisles when a sharp edge of the record met someone's back, halting her.

"Ah, shit, sorry," she said, taking a step back and throwing an apologetic half-smile-half-grimace at the person before she realized who it was — a person she'd very pointedly been trying to avoid for the past few months. "Oh, hey, Chels," she said, drawing out the end of her 'hey' for much too long for it to sound casual as a nervous, wide-eyed grin took over her face. "What's, uh...up? You— how are you?"

He'd noticed him step on the blonde's feet no less than three times during their dance, once so hard that even Atticus himself had winced. The fact that Chelsea was still moving to the music, much less still standing, was a miracle in and of itself.

"Hope those are steel toe, at least." He teased, unsubtle in the way his gaze dropped down her frame, from head to boot and back up again. "What do you think? Should we show him how it's really done?" His eyebrow raised, hand held out for her.

"Nah, you got me confused with someone else." Silas says to the Brokeback Mountain extra looking man with a midwestern accent who had not so subtly asked him if he was still dealing and he had any on him that night. The brush wasn't readily accepted, a follow up of 'I don't think so' being left to hang in the air as he slipped by him anyway, bored of the conversation almost immediately.

He's got a double whiskey in hand and no shirt to be found, determined to have a good night for whatever remained of the rest of it, when a figure in the not-so-far distance catches his eye. He's been masterfully blonde-dodging all night long, successfully avoiding another cursed run-in with his ex, but he hadn't anticipated that a second blonde he also didn't want to encounter would have been in the now confined feeling space.

He lowers his white cowboy hat like there's something interesting to be found on the inner brim of it, hoping that he wouldn't be clocked by hairdresser-or-stylist-or-whatever-she-was that he hadn't seen since he was supposed to meet her at a Vegas altar.

What's the bad doctor show?

the Bad Doctor Show is a single season "drama" from 2013 called d.o no h.arm. the premise is a doctor with d.i.d has a ✨murderous personality✨ (ick) and its him trying to "contain the beast" or what the fuck ever. its abelist, its bad, and unfortunately lin plays a small role in it (he himself has called the show bad and more or less just something for him to do whilst writing a certain broadway show.)

i shit you not, the show was cancelled after the first two episodes. i think they're on youtube, but it is. atrocious. and most people agree its just a cruel show, from how it represents d.i.d to the treatment of certain characters (lin's being the big one.)

oh, also, the actress who played serafina in h.dm is also in it! which is fun.
