The ending of Game of Thrones really does… nothing, for the smallfolk.

The one character whose arc is centered around the plight of the lower classes is turned into a psycho tyrant who mass murders peasants for no reason. And there is nobody else to take up this mantle. The two surviving characters who come next closest to having arcs that center around empathizing with the lower classes are not given positions of power at the end— they are sent away, Arya on a far away voyage and Jon back to the Nights Watch. The two people who rule at the end— Bran and Sansa— have arcs that have absolutely nothing to do with caring for the plight of the lower classes.

The new system of government put into place doesn’t give any sort of power to the Smallfolk— it is the lords of westeros who get to vote on the new king. Now instead of the game being “who can grab power by marrying into the throne” the game will be “who can grab power by getting lords to vote for them”. And who is going to have the advantage here? Rich and cutthroat lords who can bribe and threaten their way to power. The Tywin Lannisters of the world.

Rights for the Smallfolk comes at the expense of the power of the lords, so do we think this new system will put in power anyone who gives a shit about the smallfolk? Westerosi history TELLS us that is not the case. When Aegon V was chosen as king, his only competition was a literal baby with a deranged psychopath as a father. And still there were lords who voiced objection to his appointment, believing he was “half a peasant” and therefore unfit for the throne. Had there been another option besides baby Maegor, do you think Egg would have ever been chosen? No, the answer is no.

Now I’m not saying that the series had to end with feudal monarchy being destroyed, and all this wouldn’t be such a problem, if they hadn’t drawn so much focus to Daenerys’ concern for the lower classes. This was the motivation of the most prominent character of the final seasons— breaking the wheel, liberating people, ending oppression. She wasn’t just another character seeking power, her character was defined by her social justice ideology. Even if you think that this was all justifications for her tyranny, you cannot deny that these were still core themes of her story.

So GOT explores how the smallfolk suffer when lords play the game of thrones. And the conclusion of all this is that the one character who wanted to help the lower classes is actually the villain, the characters that should rule are the ones who never showed any care about class inequality, and the new and improved system of government is the one that keeps all of the power in the hands of the oppressive ruling class.

I wish people stop downplaying the racism that ingrained in Bonnie’s plot because comparing her and Hayley is not the serve you think it is. Did Hayley have a it bad? Yes, but in no way was she treated as a plot device the way Bonnie was lol.

md episode 8 predictions

(THIS IS JUST WHAT I THINK WILL MAYBE HAPPEN AND ISN'T PARTICULARLY BASED ON EVIDENCE.)

We'll see a comeback from V in some form; if she is dead, she'll probably have tried to leave some impact in order to help the team in the long run

NUZI KISS!!!!!! I'll be honest, as much as I want a season 2, a nuzi kiss would be much more impactful if ep 8 closed off the series as a whole (in my opinion) since it'd be their first and only kiss ever... I dunno, it just feels more intimate that way, but that's just me.

We find out more about Nori, her past, and form some kind of relationship between her and Uzi

Expanding on the last bullet (and if a season 2 does come), khan's development as a good father could continue, and nori's development as a good mother could start and mainly continue throughout the second season.

J does something!!!! as much as I love this show a lot of characters get wasted, J being one of them, and I want her to have some sort of impact on the series, especially if they do decide...

...that they're gonna kill J off. I'll be mad if this one happens, but I have a gut feeling.

N snaps. We've seen a small peak of him getting mad in episode 7, and it will be so satisfying if he fully snaps in episode 8.

J finds out the truth about her entire existence and is absolutely crushed by it. Think about it: J has based almost her entire being on serving a company and devotes a good chunk of her loyalty (at least) to one person, that being Tessa. You mean to tell me that the show that likes screwing around with its characters' emotions isn't going to eventually make a character like this find out that not only is the purpose she devoted herself to a lie, but the woman she sought validation from most has actually been dead for years with her skin being used as Satan's human cosplay?

Small easter eggs/parallels to the pilot. Some examples I thought of are: j being given a branded pen by another character as a gift, uzi healing another character's nanite acid injury (maybe n's), v making balloon animal shapes with sentinel parts, the railgun blows up and kills lizzy, or khan euthanizes uzi with a wrench.

Anywho, that's all the predictions I can think of right now. I'll probably come back to see if I was right.

Regarding season 2, though, whether or not I can anticipate one coming is largely going to depend on the ending of the finale. If the world frickin ends or something, then there's no way liam wouldn't be planning on ending the series there. If there's some sort of godforasken cliffhanger, though... that'd be a different story.

i do not like castiel. i think he's a really overrated character. i also really do not love destiel. the perfect ship (wincest) is right there.

now, i'm not one to pit two bad bitches up against each other, both have the right to exist in the spn fandom. *I* just don't like it.

he's really, really annoying. i esp don't like how a lot of his character is just "he's not from here! isn't that funny?" the only thing that's gonna carry me thru season 4-15 is the fact the wincest twins are in it, and are deeply in love, and they stare at each other a lot. <3

FTWDs final season could have been so much better if it was revealed that Troy was running padre and controlling madison (as revenge) this whole time. He knew enough about nick and Alicia to make madison think padre knew who and where they were this whole time. And here are some other reasons how this storyline would make sense and be more interesting:

- Troy has a military background so him taking over and running a military base makes more sense than two teenagers building it up by themselves because all the adults died.

- taking and training up children to be solidiers also would make a little sense because of his own fucked up upbringing and the idea he has of the type of people who were made for this world. He would have probably had the same idea as shrike, that the kids stood a better chance at padre than with their “weak” parents. The mother of his child dying for being a good person and not getting to raise their daughter (who would not be named after his abuser) could have also played into this idea of the kids being separated from their good parents.

- shrikes radiation cure experiments: Troy ran walker bite experiments before, just to see how people would turn. So it would also make sense if the work we see shrike doing was something he approved of or an idea he himself came up with. As for shrike, it would make sense that she turned out this way if she’d spent years being mentored by someone like troy otto instead of becoming evil and stealing children just because her dad died.

- the scene where madison smashes the glass to expose “padre” would have been such a good and shocking reveal if it was Troy. Imagine Madison finding out that Troy is not only alive but had been the one running this the whole time!

There’s also a lot of other things I would have done differently for the other characters too and I would have liked Madison to have a little villain era and do some really fucked up shit as she tries to take down Troy and padre. How dark would Madison go? Would she survive with her humanity still intact?

I know I’m just talking into the void here because no one care about this shitshow but I just hate it when shows have a plot that could have been good, maybe even great but then completely miss the mark and fans come with better theories and ideas with minimal effort and thought.

I love how Fire and Blood shows time and time again how Targaryen women are passed over, usurped, abused, killed, raped, and slandered, all building to Daenerys, a Targaryen woman who rises to great power while seeking justice and salvation for all those crushed beneath the oppressive systems of her world... just to be usurped and killed so that we can place a man on the throne again.
