what i was thinking for the bg3 specific part of it: it's so, so easy to say a character was on that ship too, they have a parasite as well! nah. warlocks at level 1 can telepathically speak to any other creature which understands at least one language. the presumption becomes, given that she can do this, that she, too, has a parasite - but it never occurs to anyone for so long that they're unable to send her telepathic messages in return...

couple of lil bg3 aus that have been rattling round my brain:

ylfa. human werewolf, wildheart barbarian. you know what every party of assholes (affectionate) needs? a 12 year old werewolf barbarian who is just a little girl who has gone through the most Fucked Up Horrors - and she wasn't even infected with a parasite. she's learning to cope with the monster inside her, she's insisting that she should be fighting with the party (and the worst part isn't that she is a great fighter and built to soak up all the damage, it's that no adult in her life has ever stopped to say "hey maybe this is a step too far for this literal child"). is pretty sure she's slowly becoming the figure of death as well as a more corrupted wolf. she can be a travelling companion but can also just be found at camp, training with whoever else is there and hanging onto gale's stories. she's obsessed with withers. you lose her approval fast if you're shitty to kids or animals.

georgie. human, paladin, oath of the ancients. a soldier (from wherever in faerun has the mancunian accents lmao) who has spent her career healing, doing whatever she can to help innocent people around her, definitely the folk hero background. being kidnapped by the mindflayers was NOT her first kidnap and torture rodeo, and she's already dealing with that by the time the plot starts, so she seems extremely calm under pressure (but you might catch her fully losing it in camp once they're safe). she's a reckless, compassionate, extremely good aligned character who is ignoring all her own shit for the sake of the mission. also think her shitty ex will reappear at some point for her personal quest if she's in a companion role, but idk for sure how it goes yet and by default i'll probably have her be the tav, that fits her a lot and she's an excellent leader. she's not a fan of the illithid powers and fully does not want them.

nynaeve. healer-focused druid, probably a half-elf? she has a tadpole in her brain, she has a block when it comes to using any associated powers, and she is NOT happy about it. she also has a block when it comes to using high-level spells that she has to work through. once the chief healer and sort of leader of a village outside baldur's gate that got overrun by orcs and other monsters, she barely escaped with her life when one dragged her out as a spoil of battle and was spending her time in search of four of her friends who also got led out by a mysterious magic user right as the battle hit its peak when she got yoinked by mindflayers - finding her friends in the city is her personal quest. she's extremely magically powerful but it's almost always tied to strong emotion and she's yet to control it, though there's a group in the city who want to help (and use that power for themselves, in her view). blunt, fierce, extremely driven by her morals and doing the right thing.

Gale  slowly  awakens  upon  the  beach, head  throbbing  and  ringing  in  his  ears.  Despite  all  conceivable  logic,  he  should  be  dead  from  such  a  vast  fall,  yet  he  miraculously  remains  alive,  albeit  with  a  volatile  orb  of  Netherese  magic  pulsing  within  his  chest.  He  can  feel  it  stirring  softly,  soon  it  will  be  hungry  once  more,  however,  for  now  it  rests. 

With  a  groan,  Gale  struggles  to  his  feet  and  dusts  off  his  purple  robes,  taking  in  his  surroundings.  The  beach  is  deserted  except  for  one  figure  lying  on  the  dusty  sand.  A  drow  man  with  light  lavender  skin  and  perfectly  styled  white  curls,  despite  their  obvious  fall  from  above.  As  Gale  approaches,  he  realizes  this  is  not  just  any  drow.  He  recognizes  this  man,  from  all  those  years  ago  in  the  Underdark.  The  dunamancy  wizard. 

The  drow's  eyes  snap  open  as  he  sits  up  abruptly,  startling  Gale.  Nonetheless,  then  he  extends  a  polite  hand  towards  him,  saying  with  a  hint  of  familiarity  in  his  voice,  "Seems  we  meet  again  after  all  these  years."

truth be told, there's not a whole lot to smile about. he was kidnapped by mindflayers, infected with a tadpole that restricts his abilities, and forced into a team of strangers. well - that last part wasn't actually as horrible as initially predicted. they were strange people but... endearing, in their own ways. though jeremy was not comfortable enough around them yet to let down his guard... he did like them.

"i'm allergic to smiling." he says, his tone matter-of-fact and no hint of a joke on his face. "if i smile, i break out in a rather uncomfortable rash. it's best if i avoid any and all displays of joy, happiness and enthusiasm." he lists them off, counting them out on his fingers as he did so.

In his mind, he would have been much better off if he were on his own. So what that-- that--... thing came up out of the ground? He knew how to creep around and be quiet, and then he wouldn't have had to deal with exploding mushrooms and stupid minotaurs on top of it.

He angrily dusted his clothing off with hard, heavy pats that beat dust and spores off of his armor, making a point to radiate with his entire being that he was very unhappy with her.

Besides, people didn't protect him. Not without an ulterior motive. So just what was she playing at?

Who in the world was this woman, and why did she seem so calm around a vampire of all things? It'd been one thing after another since ending up on that ship - he really should stop being so surprised with running into strange people like this. "Excuse me - what? Recipes? Are you seriously suggesting some type of help right now?". What was wrong with people? She should be running away from him, or trying to drive a stake into his heart before he became some type of threat - that would be the normal reaction, and one that he'd know how to react to. At the moment he was just feeling a rather overwhelming sense of confusion. He didn't like it.

He took a small step closer, taking in her appearance a lot more carefully now, "Alright let me try another question - what are you?"

"Well, that is the trouble with that thirst. Rather relentless and unforgiving." Her tone remained nonchalant as she continued to give him that warm smile, "I would say you seem pretty strong in the face of it. At least from where I'm standing."

Even if she was acting carefree with him, she was aware of the threat he could be to her. She was also well aware of what sort of threat she could be to him in return if things turned too sour. The only trouble was really finding a delicate way to say making her bleed would be a bad idea if it came to it.

For the moment she opted for a different approach, tapping her left index finger to her cheek in a passing moment of thought, "I have a few recipes I know that use animal blood as the dominating ingredient. I can also simply get quite a few pints of fresh blood that I use for those recipes rather easily."

The how just wasn't something she was going to explain right away. Not unless he asked, that is. She was also waiting to see how perceptive he was, since there was the glitter of her residual stardust caught in her hair. And the fact her pale pink-purple eyes gave off a dim glow even in the current lighting. All traits not exactly normal of anyone who was looking like an otherwise rather short human adult.

"...And to circle back to what you mentioned before: No, I'm not entirely aware of what sort of hell you've gone through recently. I'd be happy to listen if you want to share, though. Sort of comes with the type of business I run." She made a little shrug before gesturing to him to speak. While she wasn't blind to the destruction she had spotted in the area, she wasn't entirely all that familiar with it just yet.

Fine, I'll pull a @alwaysmauria and say that when enough people tag you, you finally give in to one of them, albeit begrudgingly.

Fic I spent the most time on: Fated, my first baby. It's a gruesome 162,186 words-filled monster, but I love her for all she taught me.

Fic I spent the least time on: The Lord, the Thief, their Mistress & Fart's Lover, only because @vakariansyndrome did most of the heavy lifting after the words spewed out of us.

Favourite thing I wrote: Does Emmrich still know how to do dishes. It started off poorly, I couldn't get Emmrich's voice to sound less like Sherlock Holmes and House MD combined, but this story made me reflect on the process of writing more than anything had before. And it's probably no coincidence that it's currently ranked my most-read one-shot.

Favourite fics I read this year: I saw you guys doing 4+1 here, but fuck that. #tageveryone

Resonance by @tthisonebites and, honestly, anything you ever write. But that one was viscerally good and stuck with me. One of my favorite authors.

Midwinter's Rest by Professor_Rye. And not just because this was a gift from them, but they truly hit me in the feels with anything they write.

Waiting, Jealous Little Thing, Reckless Little Love, Drizzt, darling? Really? by @vakariansyndrome - you are a writing machine, woman. You edge me (in writing) like no other. And yes, that Halsin fic will forever be on my mind.

New works for 2025: I will continue working on the short fics in the Bellara Lutare serials, which is currently the thing that brings me most joy to write about. And probably many short stories. I can't or don't want to commit to any long fics right now. I have too many wips that stare at me and I hope I might one day return to them, but likely not right now.

i'm so deep into bg3 brainrot besties , it's bad . i've been slowly combing through act 1 on nimue's campaign, & that comes with a few verse - specific headcanons 💞 'cause i'm lost in the sauce !!

okay so. nimue is equipped with the sword of power from the moment you recruit her. you can speak with her on your way through the druid's grove, & she'll express her intentions to locate halsin. from there , she'll join your group with one main quest ( take the sword to merlin in the city of baldur's gate ) & a few side quests ( rescue halsin, speak with a drow named ryld t'sarran in moonrise towers about the origins of her sword ). - she distrusts kagha & will approve of exposing her. - approves of : acts of kindness towards animals. sparing the owlbear OR befriending her orphaned cub. choosing persuasion/deception over violence. refusing rafael's offer. releasing the faerie from the lantern. NOT allowing priestess gut to brand you. sparing the nightsong's life. - disapproves of siding with : raphael , minthara , balthazar , ketheric . - will have an important quest in moonrise towers that requires a peaceful approach in the beginning. she needs to speak with ryld t'sarran, a drow cleric with great knowledge of both the sword of power's enchantment & merlin's history. during this encounter, she will learn explicitly of the sword's darker influence – & ryld will direct nimue towards the high house of wonders in baldur's gate to find merlin. after she has the information she needs, she's fully willing to help take down moonrise towers.

(Respeced to Paladin at Act 3 & Did accept the Emperor’s offer.) If you have a specific plot point you’d like to have a starter based around lmk - otherwise I’ll just wing it. These will be BG3 verse based!

Almost forgot to cross post this here once I finished.

This is the de-aged to a young adult Halsin fic I talked about writing a while back. Each chapter other than the first is focused on him with a different companion - Wyll, Karlach, Gale, Lae'zel, Astarion, Shadowheart, and Jaheira. A lot of flirting (genuine and otherwise), sexual propositions, culture clashes, learning experiences, and a touch of angst since this is set during Act 2. No explicit romantic ships but plenty of physical attraction. There's also a chance I may add on additional chapters in the future as I get inspiration or requests.

My next fic will almost certainly be back to my main dark Halstarion verse, but ironically, covering somewhat wholesome topics. Hopefully I can get started sometime during the holiday months, though I'm quite busy irl atm.
