jeremy would OF COURSE still love her!! this is an accident, something out of her control. he would not judge her for it!! he would offer to help teach her some meditation techniques that might help her with control (though he suspects they would do little to help with wild magic) and tbh it wouldn't be the first time one of his kids accidentally ruined his paintings! probably the first time one turned him into a cat tho. but hey, a cat, a wolf - is there really that much of a difference???

for this one, i'll talk about two of the marrow & chrysalis side characters (who i've mentioned but never really gone in depth with): adam and vivienne (vivi for short).

they're twins, sharing the last name williamson, and yanny knew them before the hive. nowadays, vivi and adam don't talk as much. they didn't have a falling out per se, but they sort of drifted apart after they both graduated high school and moved out.

in their childhood, they moved around a lot, never staying in one town/school for more than a year. they didn't know their dad, and their mom dated a lot of people (hence why they moved so often). their mom was really shitty to them; she clearly preferred vivi to adam but treated them both pretty terribly and tried to drive a wedge between them. it never really worked and the two stayed more or less friends throughout their teen years.

adam currently lives in the same city as yanny, though about twelve miles away, in student housing near the campus of the college he attends. he's working on a degree in environmental science so he can work in local conservation, specifically with a species of songbird that's native to the state and endangered. in his free time, he likes hiking, photography, and taking care of his pet corn snake, jeremy.

vivi, on the other hand, lives about 60 miles away, in the suburbs of the next city over. she makes money streaming and reviewing video games (though occasionally she'll get a sponsorship). adam sometimes shows up in her chat to bother her, but it's in good fun. when she's not streaming, she likes watching horror movies, gardening, and window shopping.

they're both currently dealing with the fact that their dad (who their mom always kept them away from and never talked about) is a demon, meaning they both have to work out being half-demon and having the associated physical quirks. vivi has, among other things, a short pair of horns and the ability to briefly paralyze people by making eye contact with them. adam doesn't have many outward signs of his heritage (beside a set of fangs), but he can see in the dark really well, has excellent senses of smell and hearing, and can occasionally move small objects with his mind.

they don't have particularly huge roles in the overall story of m&c, but i like exploring their dynamic as sort-of estranged siblings who are both figuring out they've got powers at the same time. thanks for the ask :3

      Jeremy raises an eyebrow at her, but his expression is mostly concern. He takes a few steps closer to her, then wraps his arms around her in a tight, warm, hug. “Sorry to disappoint.” he said softly. “I won’t ask any questions, if that’s what you want, but I won’t just ignore it.”

He raises an eyebrow, but he's not mad, nor is he disappointed. Perhaps he should be, when a pup has a penchant for lying - but then again; Jeremy himself is a master liar. He hums, head tilting at the young werewolf. She looks nervous; she's acting nervous - like she's been backed into a corner and looking for the closest way out.

"You have a tell." he says, letting the corner of his lips pull upwards - showing his amusement (i'm not mad, little pup.) "It's subtle, but its there. You should work on that - and no, I'm not going to tell you what it is."

               The young wolf huffs, arms crossing over her chest defensively. “Hey, I’m a great liar.” It comes easy to her; so easy she doesn’t always realize she’s doing it. But Jeremy does. Every single time. And then he just looks at her and fuck, his poker face is legendary – she can’t read him at all, can’t tell just how fed up with her shit he is.

               Leah glances towards the door. Then the window. The door again. Could she outrun him? “It’s not my fault you’re impossible to lie to!”

When Jeremy was a kid, he had no one to protect him. He had Antonio, but Antonio was also a child. The weight of protecting Jeremy could not be placed upon his shoulders. 

Jeremy’s grandfather tried to protect him; but despite his efforts, Jeremy had not been safe. Jeremy’s Alpha only protected him when it was needed; otherwise he turned a blind eye. Jeremy’s pack brothers either could not protect him or would not protect him. Jeremy’s father was who he needed protecting from.

So what DOES protect mean? It is a word, yes, thrown around when it’s not meant.

     Malcolm won’t hurt you, Jeremy. I’ve made sure of it. This will protect you. ( tell that to the bruises; and to the sharp words that cut deeper than any blade could. )      Dominic is your Alpha, Jeremy. He will protect you. ( will he? what about when it wasn’t convenient to? )

For the longest time Jeremy did not know what it meant to be protected; but he did learn what it meant to protect. He could protect others, and he did. When he became Alpha he made sure that no one in his pack felt the way he had; isolated, lonely, alone, different. In return, his pack protected him. Not because he was their Alpha, but because they cared about him. 

                                They were his family.

“It’s more than a word.” Jeremy says after a moment, his tone soft but even. “It’s a PROMISE. One that is broken far too often - but I won’t. I will not break this promise. To my pack; to you.”

Jeremy wasn’t a kid anymore. Karl wasn’t a kid either. But Karl was Jeremy’s pack. Jeremy would protect him; even if Karl didn’t want it or think he needed it.

bold of u to assume he hasn't already adopted her. but u know cats, if you smother them with love they run away. so he's adopted her but he's just gotta wait for her to decide she's adopting him as her dad! he's got no doubt it'll happen soon. also jeremy won't be the judge of that competition. all his daughters are very very cute.

"Water is better to prevent alcohol poisoning." Jeremy answers, ignoring her protest at him stealing confiscating her drink. Coffee would help sober her up but that's not his major concern right now. "You smell like a liquor store. How much have you drank?"

"Consider it kept in mind." And yet, even with this warning, Jeremy does not appear to be concerned in the slightest. "Do you sleepcast often? Antonio sleepcooks sometimes. Even in his sleep, his cooking is delicious." Is he being serious, is he joking? It's impossible to tell. A deep chuckle is pulled from him as he closes his sketchbook and tucks his pencil behind his ear. "Oh, a TRUE ARTIST must suffer sleeplessness constantly - however, our blood must also be at least 80% coffee."

               “And deep in my slumber, I may mutter a spell that will turn you inside out. Do keep that in mind.” She says it dryly, but she cannot quite keep the amused glint out of her eyes, lips tugging upwards. The last thing she wants to do is to hurt him ( she is a mikaelson, however, and that’s just what they do; he would be wise to be afraid ). “I definitely wouldn’t refuse a coffee.” With his blessing, Freya stands and heads towards the kitchen. “Would you like any? Or does true art require you to remain sleepless and dehydrated?”

anyway its loving and appreciating Jay hours.

so.

ive had this oc for about a decade now. she started out as a self insert in order to indulge in media-fueled fantasies as a bored 10yo. obviously this is 2022, and not 2010, and since then, shes grown and changed as a person so much. shes basically her own person now, and shes gone from an angsty pre-teen to a well-rounded adult.

part of that is that shes got friends now! 90% of the history is on the blog somewhere, but a lot of the reason why she got better. ik im preaching to the choir here because its *you* but w/e. i love that shes friends with cyrus because i dont think jay would be the person she is now if she hadnt.

for reference, jay as a preteen got a whopping heap of abandonment issues after her parental figure at the time ditched her, on top of general depression and undiagnosed adhd. jays also an orphan (lmao) and shes just the worst at making friends. and then she met cyrus, whos basically in the same boat, and theyre gonna do what lonely teenager do and become best friends.

its extra funny because part of the reason they bonded was because theyre both mutually Bad At Their Gender. jays afab, but shes so genderfluid that she went and got stuck in Boy mode. cyrus is also gnc and in royal au, dresses extremely femininely. jays always been fairly tomboy-ish, with only a little tolerance for femininity. shes still this way, but now she basically is only ever in Boy mode. the most she gets towards femininity is being genderfluid. shes gotten more comfortable with femininity lately, but its very much in a butch way. its very sexy of her and im gonna get thirst trap art of her someday.

i also really like the general kinda found family vibe that jay has with her friends, esp xander and jeremy, because i think they really helped out a lot with making her less alone and giving her a support system to actually be a person.

also like hey fun fact but jay found out she was an orphan as an adult, which. it caused a Crisis, mostly bc its one of those. redefining the self kinda moments bc shes been alone most of her life, but also its something that she didnt care about in the end? connecting with her family isnt a terribly high priority for her. like it *is* important to her but its like number five or six on the list

anyway i love her v much. shes a wonderful everyman character and so much fun to write <3
