karolina's eyes focused on her throat in the bathroom mirror while she swallowed the migraine relieving pills. lids squinted as if to conjure a faster time release for the concocted medicine. desperate for any relief. her chest lifted feeling the night would grow longer than the day had dragged. her never resting mind knotted with an urge to crawl into bed. to just be illuminated by the light of her phone until her eyes fell submissive to a lulling slumber.
sylvaine. a situation karolina was bubbled in uncertainty. the only knowing pin point was that she needed to fix whatever this was. walking back into the living area, karolina stopped a few feet from sylvaine. caring, understanding, all things karolina was without earning of. when her lips went to speak, karolina failed again.
Tumblr media
it was almost irritating how understanding sylvaine could be. an easier route would be for the other woman to be dismissive, take the cloud of chaos the brunette had created and bloom a disastrous storm. karolina could be done. move on. give her time to her occupation. a typical route. ❛ so, ❜ fingers clasping together was the reset when karolina sat down in front of sylvaine. she owed the other woman a face-to-face conversation. ❛ sylv, im just - ❜ a pause. karolina was searching for wording that wasn't corporate coded, and gifted some portion of vulnerability. ❛ used to coming home, and not having anyone in my space. ❜ brows knitted not particularly being fond of how it sounded, but - it was true. karolina's voice softened. ❛ - and im sorry i've been directing some of that release towards you. it's not with intent ... ❜
sylvaine observed karolina's subtle cues with a sense of understanding, recognizing the familiar pattern of tension * &. frustration that often accompanied their interactions. as karolina spoke, sylvaine offered a reassuring nod, her expression calm * &. composed. she could sense the weight of karolina's words, understanding the importance of this moment.
❛ of course, karolina, ❜ sylvaine replied, her voice soft yet steady. ❛ i'm here to listen whenever you're ready to talk. ❜ with a gentle touch on karolina's arm, she conveyed her support * &. solidarity, silently encouraging her to release the burdens weighing on her mind. she had always been a steadfast presence for karolina, a beacon of stability in turbulent times.
as karolina mentioned getting a tylenol, sylvaine nodded again, acknowledging the need for a moment of respite. ❛ take your time, ❜ she said, offering a warm smile. ❛ i'll be here when you're ready. ❜ she understood the importance of self-care, recognizing that sometimes a simple act like taking a pain reliever could make a world of difference.
sylvaine moved to take a seat nearby, her posture relaxed yet attentive. ❛ whenever you're ready to share, i'm here to offer whatever guidance or assistance you may need. ❜ she spoke with a calm assurance, her presence a steadfast anchor amidst the swirling currents of uncertainty and doubt. she had always been karolina's confidante, a source of wisdom * &. understanding in a world full of chaos * &. complexity.

karolina could deal with situations sensibly. the woman was pragmatic between blinks, and tension filled breaths. resilient to the core. though, behind the walls of her own home, one could take one close look at the noticeable cracks.
setting oneself aside for the sake of business had become such autopilot that the woman found it difficult to navigate her own true emotions. she was spilling. leaking, what seemed to be, all that she bottled up and ignored.
-
Tumblr media
it was sylvaine's comforting touch that patched the emotional discharge. ❛ i'm having a difficult time. ❜ clearly. it was hard to admit. karolina could extinguish the biggest fires, but not her own.
she'd play back moments, words in her mind wanting it all to make sense. scrunching her brows in frustration that her own self was a puzzle she could not crack. ❛ fucking hell, sylv. ❜ karolina breathed out - posture slumping slightly. ❛ stress ridden isn't very attractive. i'm just reaching a limit, and i'm not used to having people around to witness... - tell me, ❜ fingers smoothed across her leg, she thought about grazing sylvaine's soothing hand, but kept to her own space. at an attempt to lighten the air, ❛ you must have grabbed the short stick. ❜ - having been the one to witness karolina's humility.
sylvaine listened quietly as karolina spoke, her expression calm * &. understanding, despite the turmoil swirling within her own mind. she could feel the weight of the girl’s words, each one heavy with the weight of unspoken emotions * &. uncertainties.
as karolina apologized, sylvaine couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for her. she knew all too well the struggle of navigating personal space * &. boundaries, especially when two lives intertwine in unexpected ways. yet, despite the understanding, there was a part of sylvaine that longed for clarity, for resolution to the unspoken tension that lingered between them.
sylv, i'm just. . . karolina's voice trailed off, searching for the right words, * &. sylvaine couldn't help but feel a surge of frustration at the elusive nature of their conversation. she longed to break through the barriers that seemed to separate them, to bridge the gap between their worlds.
when she mentioned feeling accustomed to solitude, sylvaine's heart twinged with a mixture of empathy * &. longing. she understood the need for space, for independence, but she couldn't shake the feeling of loneliness that seemed to permeate the air around them.
❛ it's okay, karo, ❜ sylvaine replied softly, reaching out to place a comforting hand on her arm. ❛ i understand. * &. i'm sorry too. . . for not making it easier for you. i just. . . i want us to be okay, you know? i want to find a way to navigate this. . . whatever it is. . . together. ❜
there was a ( vulnerability ) in sylvaine's voice, a raw honesty that she rarely allowed herself to show. but in that moment, with karolina sitting before her, baring her own soul, sylvaine couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope. maybe, just maybe, they could find their way through the darkness together.
