Ingo and Emmet are perfectly in sync. They have to be, living as conjoined twins. The Subway Masters of Nimbasa City, the two are happy with their friends and family and trains. Of course, the universe contains chaos and random chance that can affect even the closest of people. The two find themselves in situations that neither would have ever expected, and it will test them both. Through it all, one thing is certain. Family, both blood related and chosen, will never let you be alone. And, no matter the trials, a two-car train will always continue onwards.

Update time! Still in Hisui, following the timeline of PLA! After this chapter I wanna maybe create a bit of a backlog to post all at once, and I need to decide if I should split the next chapter into 2 or not.

headcanon: it's the longest full moon of the year and it lands on winter break

remus insists he'll be fine, so peter leaves, sirius following hesitantly. james promptly sends a discreet wink toward remus before following the other two. not even three minutes later the brunet has appeared in front of remus again, a heavyset glare on his face.

remus tries to protest, saying that if james just goes then he'll be okay, he promises. james, rightfully, refuses to even hear the other out and shuffles to their dorm, rifling through a few sheets and stuffing them into his charmed bag.

moony blacks out soon after james is able to convince him to bring a pillow. he falls into a coma-like state for a few days before his transformation. the afternoon before the full moon, prongs manages to drag remus out with his antlers (james isn't allowed out of the castle due to harsh weather, so he has to stay undercover) through the snow and into the shrieking shack, in the process getting battered horridly by the whomping willow. remus is still heavily unconscious.

after the boy shifts james, prongs really, is quick to entertain the werewolf, pulling at curtains and leading him from the shack and far, far away from civilization. they spend hours out there and by the end of the night prongs is hardly upright, exhausted with the night's activity. he'd only had to pull moony away from things three times, which he counts as a win.

when remus finally returns, head hitting the hard snow with a loose thump prongs nearly has a heart attack. after he determines that yes, remus is alright he gently lifts his friend into the air and trudges back to the shrieking shack. he nearly collapses when they reach the tiny pile of sheets in the middle of the room.

james shifts back, shivering, the beginnings of frostbite flouncing on his nose. he shakes it off, fumbling in his clothes for his watch to find the time. it's 4:50am. if he starts now he can carry remus back to the infirmary in time for no one to be worried. he yawns, stifling it with a shaking hand before crouching and stumbling to lift moony onto his back.

it takes james an entire hour to make it to even the front of the tunnel. he clutches remus tight, nudging his head against the trapdoor-like exist. he hitches his breath, hunkering against the floor before forcing himself to shift and he runs. runs as fast as he can to get through the willows flinging appendages.

he gasps heavily managing to stumble into the infirmary. james takes a breath, another before setting remus on pomfrey's bed. he sinks into a chair, head lolling against the seat for a moment. he's still shivering. though, he refuses to be treated before remus.

when remus wakes in the hospital wing a full five days later, james is his only visitor and said boy is half asleep. the castle is noisy because the train has just brought all the students back from break. when remus asks where the other marauders are, james jumps, yawning before he opens the curtains.

sirius is slouched in a small wooden chair and he looks extremely grumpy. peter points to the handmade sign above them, which is written in sirius's sloppy handwriting. the sign says 'traitors' in bolded letters.

remus knows it's a joke, but if only one marauder could have stayed through the moon with him, he's kind of glad it was james
