Who Saved The Day? Season 5

It's been a long time but I am back with the fifth installment of Who Saved The Day? I'll be looking at every episode of buffy the vampire slayer to see who saved the day the most and in what ways. we're heading into the darkest and most complex end of the series and the number two spot is still very much up for grabs. it's getting harder and harder with time to tell who wins the point in each individual episode, and I don't think it's gonna get any easier from here friends.

At the end of season four we left it at:

Buffy: 43

Angel: 5

Giles: 5

Willow: 4

Anya: 2

Faith: 2

Oz: 2

Xander: 2

Other people who only got 1 each: 8

So season 5:

1. Buffy Vs Dracula: Buffy

Nice and straightforward. You kill Dracula twice, you get a point.

2. Real Me: Buffy

Buffy saves Dawn. Good work.

3. The Replacement: Willow

Buffy did avert the violence and stop the two Xanders from escalating things to a nasty place, so I'll hear arguments for that, but Willow actually fixed the situation and put the two Xanders back so I think she was the one who saved the day.

4. Out Of My Mind: Buffy

I really went back and forth on whether it was Buffy or the doctor here. The doctor actually solved the thing that was wrong so a big part of me thinks it was the doctor who did the procedure on Riley, but Buffy won the fight and dealt with Spike and Harmony so.... Buffy.

5. No Place Like Home: Buffy

Another 'nobody won' episode really. I don't know how to choose someone who saved the day here when... the day ended pretty badly. It was either the Monk for giving Buffy the info about Dawn before he died, or Buffy for getting herself and the Monk out of the magic box. I couldn't decide but thought that saving lives had to count as saving the day right?

6. Family: Buffy

My heart aches when I think about Family, seriously. I considered giving the point to Spike because he solved the demon thing, which exposed the Maclays and put the whole business to rest, but Buffy saying she wasn't going to let Tara be taken was more of a 'saving the day' action I think?

7. Fool For Love: Spike

I'm not certain who the day was really saved from here. Yes Riley killed some vampires but I don't think they were the main threat so killing them was more of a fun side project for Riley. I don't think we can really say Spike was the villain? At least for most of the episode. Putting this episode in its big existential context I think by giving Buffy the stories of the two past slayers and his actually fairly true (and useful for the rest of the season) insight into the slayers we can make a solid case for Spike saving the day. Am I biased in his favour? Absolutely, but it's my list! Spike's first point!

8. Shadow: Buffy

Buffy dealt with the snake and with so many other things.

9. Listening To Fear: Buffy

Dawn very much did save Joyce the first time, so there's an argument that she saved the day, but Buffy actually stabbed the thing. So Buffy.

10. Into The Woods: Buffy

Buffy (?) She certainly killed some vampires.

11. Triangle: Willow

Buffy does a lot of pummelling but Willow sends the troll away, which I would call solving the problem at its root.

12. Checkpoint: Buffy

Good speech babe, and well done for getting Giles his retroactive pay checks.

13. Blood Ties: Willow

I'm giving it to Willow and Tara here because they did the spell that transported Glory, and while Buffy's speech to Dawn was far more emotionally significant, the spell was what actually helped. I really want to give Tara a point - my beautiful girl who awoke so much of my soul deserves more than one - but Willow passing out from doing the spell implies to me that she was contributing more magical energy. If you can convince me in the replies that Tara deserves this point I will very, very gladly transfer it to her.

14. Crush: Spike (?)

I'm not happy about this one either. Much though I love him. But we've had episodes before where the person who causes the problem solves the problem and I've been strict with myself in the past about the person who saves the day only ever getting to be the person who actually does the one action that removes the biggest immediate danger. That danger was Drusilla and Spike got her off Buffy sooooooooo maybe I picked stupid rules.

15. I Was Made To Love You: Buffy

Out of every single episode of this show, this is the one where the day is the least saved. It's impossible to look at the ending of this episode and think of anything being okay. But Buffy stops April hurting anyone so, I guess.

16. The Body: Buffy

I'm a huge fan of the fact there was a vampire in this episode, keeping an element of the supernatural in the least supernatural episode this show ever did. It's one of the best decisions this script made to have a single, newborn, not very powerful vampire become a meaningful threat again in a way it hasn't been since very early season one, because the audience really believes that buffy could have been vulnerable to this when she's knocked sideways by grief and it feels menacing in a way that enormous tentacle demons never do. if we define this vampire as the threat in this episode, which it isn't really but it's the closest we've got, then it's buffy again.

17. Forever: Dawn

Dawn's first point. Go dawn, a heart-wrenching first point in a truly harrowing episode. Another example of the person who caused the problem solving the problem but we must be consistent here.

18. Intervention: Spike

This one hurts my heart. Spike's first uncontroversial point, I'd say.

19. Tough Love: Tara

I was originally going to give this point to Willow for getting her and Buffy out of the fight with Glory at the end, but I decided the bigger threat in this episode was Glory offering Tara the bargain where she could give the key up in exchange for her own safety. Tara making such a simple clear moral choice, even when she's terrified, even when she knows Glory could do anything for her, and she isn't even in a good place with Willow, is the bravest thing in this episode and no one else can possibly deserve this point.

20. Spiral: Ben

Not a good episode for day-saving. Ben did a lot more harm than good here but he got Giles' wound stabilised and no one else... saved the day. I'm not really happy about this one so please argue with me.

21. The Weight of the World: Willow

One of my favourite non-combat savings of the day. Willow going into Buffy's mind and convincing her to keep trying to save the world is one of the most interesting and significant day-savings Willow gets in one of my favourite episodes for Willow and Buffy's relationship.

22. The Gift: Buffy

There just aren't any arguments here. She saved the world. A lot.

So at the end of season five we're still very heavily biased in favour of Buffy saving the day, which I don't think is ever likely to go away, but getting more and more episodes where it isn't her with time. New appearances for a lot of the scoobies here and spike is climbing the ranks fast.

At the end of season 5 we are at:

Buffy: 54

Willow: 7

Angel and Giles: 5

Spike: 3

Anya, Faith, Oz, Tara, Xander: 2

And 9 characters including Dawn who have 1 each

Season 6 is my favourite season and also the bleakest, darkest and strangest so I am excited to see what happens to the leaderboard there.

Debbie Gallagher: ALL Love Interests RANKED

Okay! I tried to rank all of Debs’ love interests and it was hard to do because I am not set on that ONE PERSON that I ship her with above all else, but these are my thoughts! Keep in mind that these are all MY OPINIONS and you are entitled to yours as well! Let’s talk about it! If you read all this ILY.

23. The Guy At The Pool (Season 5)

He thought Debs was special needs and she tried to flirt with him...

22. Kelly (Season 9-10)

I LOVE Kelly so much but she was not into Debbie! I really love her with Carl and Debbie should not have tried to interfere! I will however say that I really really REALLY enjoy their friendship and I wish that that would have continued on. They had some really good moments together.

20/21. Eugene (Season 6) & Board Game Guy (Season 7)

Alright so these two don’t technically count because Frank tried to set Debbie up with Eugene so that she’d be written into his will. And the Board Game Guy was from a deleted scene as one of Debbie’s “life partners” from that flyer she made. So enough said.

18/19. Tyler (Season 6) & Erika (Season 6)

Again, Frank attempted to set Debbie up with Tyler and while that “potential relationship” wasn’t as bad as what happened between her and Erika, I am grouping them together because Debbie wasn’t technically into either of them and it was set up to fail right from the start.

17. Larry (Season 6)

The pregnancy fetish guy! I’m not quite sure what the intentions were for this character in the long run but it was a funny joke in the episode he was in. Even in the beginning Larry gave off red flags, but Debbie was happy... until the truth was revealed. Weird.

16. Jared (Season 11)

Another irrelevant love interest: the gay guy that cheated on his husband with Debbie after giving her cocaine. Obvious issues with this encounter/plot line aside, I did feel that their interactions at the bar were flirtatious and I didn’t hate him.

15. Calista (Season 11)

ANOTHER irrelevant character that was used and never brought back!!! I didn’t totally hate her either, she was upfront about her ex-girlfriend and that whole situation. She helped Debbie and didn’t take advantage of her but the second she came on screen; I’m sorry but I did not give a fuck. Her last episode built up a potential friend/relationship opportunity for Debbie and they just did nothing with it. Idfk what else to say, not a fan but I did appreciate Calista trying to take care of Debbie when she clearly was drinking too much.

14. Sandy (Season 10-11)

Oh boy, everyone’s favorite partner of Debbie’s... Yeah, Sandy is so low on this list not necessarily because I didn’t like her for Debbie, or that I have beef with Elise (b/c I love her as an actor sm). I personally just hate the sheer fact that this character EXISTS in the first place. I never understood the hype, but I know that people only like her because she’s a Milkovich ie. related to Mickey. That’s the hard truth this fandom isn’t willing to admit. My disliking Sandy should be a post of its own but lemme get into her relationship with Debbie.

You could tell that Emma and Elise liked working together so the chemistry was sorta there (definitely not soulmate shit tho). Each time that they interacted in s10 I was over it. S11 was better in the sense that whether I would like to admit it or not, they did have some “cute moments” (mainly just Sandy calling Debbie babe/babes). The second shit hit the fan in regards to Sandy’s history, I immediately understood Debbie’s issue with her and why her character would not want to be with Sandy. But, with that being said, Debbie was also in the wrong because she made everything about herself throughout the entire course of this relationship! Sandy did call her out, ex: “who was supposed to take Franny to school?”, and things like that were nice. HOWEVER I am sorry to say, this relationship felt like a massive waste of time and it felt like they were trying to force something that shouldn’t have existed to begin with. I don’t have the patience to even analyze this anymore, but maybe down the line because clearly there is SO MUCH to delve into!

13. Alex (Season 9)

Omg I did not like this relationship/plotline at all. Alex had issues but Debbie was so inconsiderate! I never saw the appeal here! It was nice that Alex had the decency to go and help Debs with Ford after the fact. I just feel “meh” about this tho. They had moments but ultimately I personally wasn’t into it and Debbie’s random newfound self discovery of “lesbianism”.

12. Kyle (Season 3)

Emma Kenney’s first kiss! Kyle was a one episode character that did have the potential to be more than that. I didn’t hate the kid as Debbie’s love interest, but there also wasn’t anything special about him. He was just kinda there and then he left. Debbie really seemed to like him though, spelling his name in her peas, etc.. I do like that one line about cigarettes that Kyle had but again he was such a short lived character and when he turned out not to be related to Kevin it became unnecessary to keep him around... even if the episode alluded to him returning. They were sorta cute!

11. Claudia (Season 10)

So I didn’t like this relationship much either but there was a certain kind of stability in the relationship that felt organic and nice. Partly because I enjoyed watching Constance Zimmer and she made Claudia likeable. Do I ship it? No. Was it a problematic dynamic? Yes. Was it a tolerable relationship? Eh. I didn’t hate it entirely though. Debbie, being a Gallagher, eventually fucked it up. And while I did like the drama, Debbie wasn’t REALLY into Claudia as much as she may have believed she was. So, it totally felt like a one off that would end with Claudia not returning... and it was. So there was no time for an investment of any kind.

10. Hedi (Season 11)

Gosh... Debbie’s endgame(?). Hedi was introduced too late for me to care enough about her (At this point it would have made sense for Debbie to wind up with Calista because at least she was already introduced!). I don’t necessarily like Hedi as a character and quite frankly it was a “who tf does SHE think she is” kinda deal for me. At first I was interested and didn’t hate her (and I don’t), but then she “thought she was Jimmy” and I instantly got annoyed (LOL I GUESS it was a nice nod to him tho... I guess).

My (several) problems with Hedi as a character aside, there IS something about Hedi being presented as this “dangerous badass” who is (somehow) WORSE than Debbie, that worked well. I’m not a fan of the ship, but it is an interesting dynamic in the sense that Debbie could potentially be “living on the edge”. I fear for what trouble this could cause Debbie BUT it’s like Frank referenced: Monica vibes. I don’t think it’s “true love” like Debbie said to Franny. A constant storyline for Debbie has been “why can’t anyone ever love me” and so she falls in quickly. Maybe Hedi will leave her but that’s the thing, “she’s done worse” so idk, either way I don’t think it’s meant to last! But I guess I don’t mind them being together! Karma’s a bitch! Will Carl tell her what Arthur found? Would it even make a difference?

9. Julia (Season 10)

I would have actually rather preferred her with Carl too! It was never love between Debbie and Julia, but the relationship did create good conflict for my viewing pleasure. UNPOPULAR OPINION, I didn’t mind Julia as a character at all. She was fine for me. I also enjoyed how ultimately SHE was only using Debbie in the end. Julia does admit later on that she was experiencing with her sexuality so maybe she did have feelings for Debbie at one point, which I thought was interesting. Debbie got herself into this one. At least Julia was more age appropriate than Claudia... (which is ironic since Debbie got in trouble for being with Julia when the age gap is MUCH bigger between Claudia and Debbie LOL I love it)! I also found Julia annoying Debbie to be amusing, that’s not to say that I liked her a lot either cuz I don’t!

8. Matty (Season 4-5)

Man do I feel bad for Matty! Debbie raped him and it was horrible. From the get-go when Matty was introduced the relationship was hella awkward!! And not only that but Debbie was a MINOR! Matty did do the right thing and said they couldn’t be together but a part of me will always feel strange that he WAS INITIALLY attracted to Debbie before learning her age. That to me is still wildly inappropriate. He shoulda cut it off. He did try to be her friend and took her to that dance which was cute but ahhh this was just a MESS all around. Cringe. At least he didn’t take advantage.

7. Henry (Season 4)

Speaking of Matty and that dance, Henry was supposed to take her. He asked her as a joke in order for Seama to inflict revenge on Debbie. If that weren’t the case however... DAMN THEY WERE CUTE! The potential that this relationship could have had! If only it wasn’t all an act! It was a “day worth of love” and sure that’s not enough for two people to REALLY be IT, yet there was something charming about their connection that I wish was real. Or idk maybe Henry could have reconnected with her later and apologized and it could have been revealed that he did actually like her... but that wasn’t the case. Fuck him!

6. Simon (Season 1-2)

Debbie was NOT interested in Simon at all but at the time he was almost like the male version of her. Their banter back and forth was fun to watch and he probably would have treated her well. It’s unfortunate that we didn’t get to even see their friendship progress. Their interactions were funny and he was a good guy!

5. Batiste (Season 10)

Y’all may not understand why this guy is so high on the list but a part of me wishes this character wasn’t a one off. Batiste is the dude Debbie tried to return her “unused” shoes to. If you can recall, he wanted a blowjob to take advantage of her. While this was a dick move (and the plot went nowhere) a part of me would have liked to see more! He did have an arc where he acted like an ass and realized that it is wrong to degrade women. I just think it could have been built upon and Emma may have had chemistry with this actor. There was something here that I didn’t hate and I felt it could have been expanded upon.

4. Little Hank (Season 2-3)

Debbie’s first real crush! It was interesting to see how he didn’t like her at first and then a “friendship/relationship” slowly started to develop after he gave her flowers. IT JUST NEVER CONTINUED! Little Hank was in no way the most upstanding, but it was cool to see Carl have a friend that Debbie crushed on (when she was little she wasn’t intentionally taking something away from Carl ie. Kelly, so I support it). Their interactions were fun to watch too! The fandom definitely has a soft spot for Little Hank! And at one point everyone was rooting for them to be together. Too bad we never discovered what ended up happening to this character!

3. Neil (Season 7-8)

The bathtub scene tho! Adorable! There was a short moment within this relationship that was super cute where the two of them really did seem to care about each other and may have both been in love. It goes without saying that Debbie was only using him, but they did have SOME potential and they found a common ground where they each benefited each other’s needs. Debbie once again was TOO controlling and self absorbed to make it work, but I don’t think she was entirely happy in a relationship with him. He deserved more respect!

2. Derek (Season 5-8)

Baby Daddy! I really did enjoy them together until Debbie took advance of him and Franny came into the picture, but at the same time that’s one of the reasons that Derek, as a character, has a deeper connection to Debbie and the audience. I always enjoyed their flirting back and forth and the relationship they had (the deleted scene with the card/push up game ahh my heart)! Debbie really did mess up due to her desperation to “belong to a family”, which is another one of her consistent character traits. She just went too far and tried to trap him. Then shit got messed up between their families. Derek did eventually ask for parcial custody and did have a desire to be a part of Franny’s life. Debbie said no and that plot line died until s10. Pepa!! Ahh! RIP to Derek, it was sad to me that he died. Definitely a character and relationship that I wish was incorporated more because I truly enjoyed them together.

1. Duran (Season 8)

Besties with benefits! Stop! Nobody talks about my guy Duran! Sure they both said that this relationship was of a sexual nature and that they were just a couple of friends but damn! The chemistry and dynamic was palpable! It is truly a shame that we didn’t get to see more of this friendship! They were on common ground and really did care about each other! I don’t know why but I really just LOVED them together! Duran was also in her friend group with Farhad and that was a group that seemed to have a positive impact on Debbie as a person. S8 Debbie was cool! These two complemented each other so nicely! Duran wasn’t by any means the best influence on her because he almost lead Debbie down a “Monica path” but come on, Hedi is worse in that department. He was getting his life together like Debbie was with her profession. Just think of the hair convos Duran and Tami could have had Lol. Idk, I just like Debbie with him a lot! It was healthy to an extent and he was supportive of Debs with Franny.

me watching Free! Eternal Summer

An incoherent and unorganized scribbling of my thoughts while watching Free! Eternal Summer before I really came to grips with how in love I am with RIN MATSUOKA this anime. (so plz excuse how haphazard and unorganized this is, I wasn't really planning on journaling this but found myself doing it anyway)

Okay okay okay I know I should be sleeping because we're driving to the beach in the morning but I really wanted to check out the first episode of Free! Season 2 and OMG sooooo the intro theme song showed this new guy who seems to be on Rin's team and, ahem... He's rather very good looking 👀 Best looking boy so far, and that's saying something because you got Haru and Rin and even lowkey Rin's ex-team captain so...yeah. Welp I'm looking forward to this season 😁

So I believe I've watched up to Episode 4 now, and I know I haven't been commenting recently but sometimes I just wanna watch without any journaling interruption :P But okay so far OMG, so Rin's friend Sousuke (the big tall buff good-looking guy) is kind of a jerk, I mean I get that he was friends with Rin first back in elementary and ngl, I'd feel slighted too of my old best friend abandoned me for some new kids. But he doesn't have to be such a...jerk about it.

AND HE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ALL POSSESSIVE EITHER 👀 👀 👀 👀

Hahahahaha yeaaahhh, so there's legit like this friend-triangle going on where Sousuke is acting all possessive over Rin and then there's Haru who's just happy to have his Rin back in his life and there's Rin who's just the It boy it seems who cares for both friends and is totally oblivious to the battle going on over him 😏😆 And am I loving it?? Absolutely yes.

I just...ugh I just love the dynamic between Rin and Haru, and though high-school Rin isn't my favorite anime character, elementary-school Rin IS and idk why but I love the idea of everyone loving and wanting him and just ugh I love that aloof, expressionless Haru gets all emo over Rin like Rin is his bestest friend without him actually ever being his bestest friend, like Haru secretly admired Rin so much and was inspired by him and came to love him though Haru, being the non-emotional-don't-show-feelings guy and kid he is, never indicated how he felt about Rin and UGHHH the feels in this show are too much.

Elementary school-Rin literally is one of my most favorite characters ever in anime, I love him so much; he's like a shining light to the world.

Anyways, gonna check out the next ep! (aaaaand I'm actually really exhausted and have to run errands tomorrow, so maybe I'll just be going to sleep, idk :P)

Episode 6

OMG...is Makoto starting to question whether he's Haru's best friend anymore in comparison to Rin???!?! I'm like sad but also like eeeeeeek because I literally love RinHaru so much but I also love Makoto and don't want him to be sad :(((( He hinted at it when Nagisa asked him why he competed against Haru, and Mako said that he just wanted to try a serious race against Haru...but then, while watching Rin and Haru standing next to each other chatting after their race, with wistful eyes added, "I’m not sure. Was I jealous of Rin?" ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

And then Sousuke had a similar look in his eyes when Rin was talking about Haru beating him in their race. Methinks these friends are feeling like Haru and Rin have this special bond/connection with each other, and like they're being left out in a way.

Idk, this is just my initial impression without thinking too deeply into it.

Welp onto ep7!

I FINISHED SEASON 2 😭💙🌊

I have some things to say but I'm too tired and wanna figure out what the heck season 3 is all about (and my eyes are about to fall out of my head because yet again, I pretty much binged the entire season yet again 😵💀💤)

IN SUMMARY...

Okay, so let me talk a little bit about Season 2.

So yeah, I enjoyed it, and I absolutely LOVE my bois so much <333, but I'll admit, it wasn't as emotionally intense as Season 1. Yeah, Haru had a couple of meltdowns with his whole "I don't know what I want to do in the future so stop trying to force me to choose a dream" personal drama, but outside of that there wasn't too much interpersonal drama, not like in Season 1 :( And honestly, that’s what sucked me into this anime, as I was livinggg for all the emo drama between Haru and Rin lol.

But it felt like this season lacked in that department. Of course, it makes sense since Rin has already reconciled with the others, but I guess I expected to see more of elementary-school Rin in high-school Rin, but there were only hints of little Rin in older Rin :/ Still love Rin ofc (my boyyyy) but he wasn't as charismatic, as outgoing and idealistic and happy and shining as his elementary-school self :( And I guess I was expecting that, so maybe in a way I set my own self up.

But back to the RinHaru lack, like don't get me wrong there was a ton of RinHaru-ness (I mean, Australia) but it wasn't as emo and intense as last season's. I wanted Rin and Haru to spend more time together, to see more of that need they had for each other that they had in Season 1. But it just…lacked. And not gonna lie, I'm sad about it :( I want Haru to need Rin and Rin to need Haru, and yeah we already know they do, but I want them to show it. I want HARU to show it.

(I want to indulge in my feels some more lol.)

And now that they're in totally different countries in Season 3, my RinHaru heart is so frustrated, like there better be some texting/skype calls/letter writing/something between these two because y’all can’t just give us all that emo angsty “YOU WILL SWIM FOR ME” “I WANT TO SWIM WITH YOU” “I KNOW WHO I SWIM FOR” “LET ME SHOW YOU A SIGHT YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE” drama and then separate the two after you spent an entire season telling us how much they need each other like, come on KyoAni! You’re killing me here!

I wonder if this means we won’t be getting much RinHaru in season 3?? Rin is in Australia while Haru is going to college in Tokyo (as well as Makoto, so happy for you babe!). If Rin is the one who lights a fire in Haru when swimming and vice versa...how're they supposed to do that 4k+ miles away from each other? I’m hoping KyoAni’s got something up their sleeve because RinHaru was the very reason I fell for this anime, please don’t deprive me now!

Season 3 also has some old-but-new characters come in: Haru and Makoto’s old middle school swim teammates. And apparently there will be drama there, while some new character comes into Rin's life and there's a story there, too. Not to be such a fangirl, but…I don't want them only interacting with new characters and then having separate stories from each other; call me greedy (because when it comes to RinHaru, I totally am, no shame) but I want RinHaru, not Rin in his own world and Haru in his.

Anyways, I'm going to watch the OVAs and then the middle school movie before starting Season 3. Maybe those "new" characters in Season 3 will be in the middle school movie, and then we'll get some story set up for Season 3. Also, I think it's absolutely hilarifreakinous that at the beginning of all this I literally was like, “Meh, gonna check this anime out, don't expect to fall for these characters like I did with Haikyuu*" and yet here I am with elementary-school Rin as my best boi after Levi and my first ever anime ship ahahahaha funny how the cookie crumbles 🙂

*note: I still love Haikyuu more overall, for I fell hard for the entire friggin volleyball team, not just two three characters (Gou is best girl, Gou >>>> Haikyuu girls), but I definitely feel more emo towards Rin and RinHaru and I really like Gou. I don't think I'd even really consider Free! one my top animes in regards to overall story 'cause it's honestly not all that remarkable, but the characters; I just love and little Rin is definitely one of my favorite anime characters ever, GAH I LOVE HIM SO MUCH 😭 edit 8/20/20 - pfftskdjkkklds wow how naive I was lollllll (I still love Karasuno OFC, but as of now I've been more emotionally involved by and absolutely obsessed with RinHaru than I have with Karasuno, but it doesn't necessarily mean I love one over the other. “Jonerys has no foreshadows, no parallels, nothing other than them being Targaryens”

Yes, that’s an actual thing Jonsa shipper said to me, talking about all their Oh sO CoNviNcing metas and “foreshadows”. So HERE WE GO, ALL THE ONES I AM AWARE OF AND I HAVE SOME NEW ONES THAT I HAVEN’T SEEN BROUGHT UP SO STAY WITH ME TILL THE END.

1. Both bring their sigil animals, believed to be extinct, back to the game. Jon is the one to convince Ned to save the pups, and he found Ghost himself. Dany literally brought dragons back.

2. Both start as secondary characters, underastimated and both gradually came to being leaders and one of the most iconic characters in both the show and TV as a whole.

3. Both are the underestimated sibling. Jon as a bastard, Dany as a female. Both looked down upon by their family members.

4. Despite being the undestimated one, Jon is said to have more of North in him than any of his siblings. Tyrion was the one who said that to him, I believe. And Dany ends up being the dragon, so more of a Targaryen or a Valyrian in a way than Viserys.

5. Their first loves died in their arms.

6. What’s also interesting about that ^ is that Drogo dies because of the witch and Dany in books is sure that was the first betrayal she had the vision about, and Ygritte is killed by Olly, who later betrays Jon. Ygritte in books isn’t killed by Olly, but still by men who end up betraying him. And again, both Ygritte and Drogo were savages, both killed by people who the savages have hurt

7. Both are believed to be The Prince Who Was Promised. They are the two main theories, for sure. And both kinda fit, but not entirely. But when you think about them as whole…They fit much more.

“I believe you have a role to play as does another. The King in The North - Jon Snow.“

8. Both taken hostage by savages, who they end up leading. Both are attached to those savages, and are accepted by them, despite being outsiders.

“You were the first one to bring Dothraki to Westeros, he was the first to make allies of Wildlings and Northmen.”

9. Both start their journey in the first book, Dany with Dothraki, Jon with the Night’s Watch, which both have a bad reputation, as rapers and thiefs and such. And they both end up as their leaders, both trying to stop the flaws of their packs. Jon trying to help the Wildlings, Dany not allowing them to rape, or steal from in example Qarth, before the shit there goes down, that didn’t go down in the books if i remember correctly.

“She protects people from monsters, just as you do.”

Both face many setbacks and become increasingly frustrated with their roles as leaders.

11. Both feel so lonely and sad at first. Jon after seeing what NW really was, and Dany does not need to be even explained I think.

10. Both, at some point are given the chance to literally make their dreams come true. Jon being proposed by Stannis to be legitimized as a Stark, and Dany being offered all the ships and money she needed to go to Westeros. And both decline because of morals. Jon keeps his vows, Dany stays to free the slaves.

11. “One to bed, one to dread, one to love.” Jon is Dany’s third love interest, Daario was more of a bed partner (”to bed”) and Drogo was someone Dany was at first sooo scared of (”one to dread”).

12. “ A blue flower grew from a chink in a wall of ice, and filled the air with sweetness… . mother of dragons, bride of fire … “ Blue flowers obvioulsy symbolizes Jon, that’s certain. And who is at the Wall???

13. Ok so Dany being called “Moon of my live”, moon is strongly associated with her bc of that, "Dragons come from the moon" thing, like think about a moon in GoT and tell me you don’t think of Dany, and being the only female with silver hair, that being her most iconic trait. ( “ The old woman washed her long, silver-pale hair and gently combed out the snags, all in silence. The girl scrubbed her back and her feet and told her how lucky she was.”) and this: “The light of the half-moon turned Vals honey-blond hair a pale silver and left her cheeks as white as snow. She took a deep breath. The air tastes sweet.”

MOON TURNED HER HAIR SILVER.

So three things that can be considered to be about Dany in two sentences. And the thing about Jon not smelling the sweetness, which some antis point out, is obvious. He is the sweetness.

14. “Sometimes she would close her eyes and dream of him, but it was never Jorah Mormont she dreamed of; her lover was always younger and more comely, though his face remained a shifting shadow.” - Dany, ASOS

Targaryens are prone to having prophetic dreams, Dany has them as well.

“For the rest of his life –however long that might be– he would be condemned to be an outsider, the silent man standing in the shadows who dares not speak his true name.” - Jon, AGOT

“The flames crackled softly, and in their crackling she heard the whispered name Jon Snow. His long face floated before her, limned in tongues of red and orange, appearing and disappearing again, a shadow half-seen behind a fluttering curtain.” - Melisandre, ADWD

15. “Jon fell to his knees. He found the dagger’s hilt and wrenched it free. In the cold night air the wound was smoking. “Ghost,” he whispered. Pain washed over him. Stick them with the pointy end. When the third dagger took him between the shoulder blades, he gave a grunt and fell face-first into the snow. He never felt the fourth knife. Only the cold … “ - ADWD

“Off in the distance, a wolf howled. The sound made her feel sad and lonely, but no less hungry. As the moon rose above the grasslands, Dany slipped at last into a restless sleep.“ - ADWD

Are wolves in Essos a common sight????

16. “… but the Usurper’s dogs had murdered her brother’s son when he was still a babe at the breast. If he had lived, I might have married him. “ - ADWD

“The best way to make alliances is with marriage.“

“If he does rule the North, he’d make a valuable ally.“

17. “He might as well wish for another thousand men, and maybe a dragon or three.”

GRRM clearly making us think about Dany, like come on, possibly helping Jon.

18. Both were sneaked away in order to keep them save from those who would harm them - baby Targaryens (Jon from South to North and Dany West to East)

19. “ Even with Ygritte sleeping beside him, he felt alone. “ “Her captain slept beside her, yet she was alone. “

Find me another example of someone in GoT feeling alone while sleeping next to their lover, for reasons. Also both mentioned during times when they had to choose. Jon between duty and Ygritte, Dany between duty (marrying Hizdahr) and the man she wanted - Daario.

20. Both have Mormonts as mentors, Jon has Jeor and Dany has Jorah. Also, Jon wields the Mormont family sword Longclaw which once belonged to Jorah. That’s less powerful, but the only Mormonts we really know until Lyanna are with them, helping them, showing them the way.

21. “A Targeryen alone in the world is a terrible thing” guess what two Targaryens met and made an alliance and found love oops

22. Both were seperated from their animal for a long time, until they came back and helped to kill some bitches.

23. Both are seen as somewhat godly, Jon coming back from the dead, Dany being the Unburnt which gave us this visual parallel:

24. Both share some moral rules, Dany being more a dragon ofc, but still like:

the last one didn’t go unnoticed by Jon either, like WORD TO WORD

25. These two iconic scenes, that even Kit mentioned being weirdly reflective of each other

36. Wars of the Roses were an inspiration for ASOIAF, Aand that war ended with Henry VII and Elizabeth of York joining the roses. Henry was an heir in staright line, that had lived his entire life in exile, Yorks were inspiration for Starks. So yup Dany and Jon work p e r f e c t l y. The war they will end might be The Great War, or the War for the Iron Throne.

Stray thoughts

1) The smiles of these two fucking idiots as they pretend to be friends while secretly pining after each other, I hate them so much ugh!

2) Oh, this sardonic self-deprecating asshole, stop breaking my heart!

LOGAN: Lots of advancements since the last time I buckled down. How 'bout you?

VERONICA: Uh, "Violence in Early Adolescence."

LOGAN: Ah. Need me to autograph your textbook?

It’s nice to see them chat and banter without all the angst, even if it’s short-lived and all pretense, though.

3) Veronica is all smiles and sunshine until Logan uses the word “both” to refer to him and Parker. The realization that Logan wasn’t just bluffing and that not only was he dating someone else but he also seemed to have zero hang-ups about their break-up just utterly destroys her.

4) This is actually refreshing, and it’s not the only time it happens in this season…

VERONICA VOICEOVER: I took this case so I wouldn't have time to dwell on Parker's birthday party and now, here I am, sitting in a car with nothing but a whole lot of dwelling time on my hands.

Veronica’s voiceover clearly implies she’s far from cool with the idea of Logan being Parker’s Picture Perfect Boyfriend. It’s the most outspoken she’s been as regards how she really feels about Logan and their break-up. We get the same type of voiceover in There’s Got to be a Morning After Pill, when Veronica goes bananas and stalks Madison because of her misplaced vendetta. Hardly ever did Veronica let us on in her inner feelings during times of emotional turmoil caused by the ups and downs of her relationship with Logan. In fact, in the early seasons, she usually went uncharacteristically silent when Logan was concerned. I think that in spite of all their fuck-ups, Logan and Veronica actually were in a much more mature and vulnerable place now than they ever were (think of their intimate conversations in Wichita Linebacker and Poughkeepsie, Tramps and Thieves) and it’s shown in Veronica’s voiceovers.

It’s sort of a step in the right direction for Veronica, and it’s hard to argue it’s not related to Logan’s claims that she always puts herself at a distance and never lets herself need others.

5) I love this little callback…

AMIRA: Veronica Mars?

VERONICA: Amira. Long time, no see.

AMIRA: Yeah. Like since my senior year, when you made my Pirate Points worth less.

But… wasn’t Duncan the one who did that?

6) I think this is the moment when Veronica decides she will get her revenge on…

7) I know Ronald is only a kid, but damn does it feel good to see Veronica putting that little dick in his place…

There’s nothing wrong with being a fireman, though.

8) This is hands down one of my favorite moments in the series, I don’t know why I get so much pleasure from seeing Veronica reenact a scene from Pulp Fiction almost verbatim and using a paint gun in lieu of a real gun.

9) Poor Mr. Clemmons but aww at Veronica shooting "Towelie” for making fun of him.

10) How didn’t Mac read Veronica’s expression? That’s not the face of someone who has ever been cool about anything ever.

MAC: You ready? We can offer them our table.

VERONICA: Sure.

11) And I love how dumbfounded Veronica is about Mac and Logan actually getting along. I brought this up in a previous recap, but it’s pretty obvious the only reason Logan didn’t form any bonds with Mac or Wallace is because of Veronica’s need to compartmentalize. Mac sums it up quite nicely here…

VERONICA: You and Logan seem chummy.

MAC: Guess I never thought much of the guy when you two were dating. Surly thing, you know. But since he's been around so much lately, I've seen his sweet side. Probably the side you saw all the time.

VERONICA: Oh, yeah. That side.

And in fact, it begs the question: did Veronica keep Logan away from her friends and family because she feared they might not like him or because she wanted them to continue seeing him as the dark, brooding, dangerous type so that she could keep the “real” Logan all to herself?

12) Piz actually gained a couple of cool points because of this reference…

PIZ: It's like the new Rocky Horror. Now at one point people throw plastic spoons at the screen. You gotta check it out. It'll-it'll change your life.

But don’t worry, he’ll lose all of them and then some by the end of the episode.

13) Wallace, you’re such a good friend to all your friends, I love you.

WALLACE: I thought you were going to Yoyo Taco on Saturday.

PIZ: Yo La Tengo. Yeah. But, you know, this sounds more fun. What?

WALLACE: You're like one of those guys who stands behind the players at the poker table and pretends he's playing.

PIZ: Sorry, I've never been to Vegas, so what exactly...

WALLACE: Look. Every once in a while, you gotta go all in.

PIZ: Right. Will do.

WALLACE: Excellent.

PIZ: I don't know what that means, though.

WALLACE: It means we're going out tonight. You're going to talk to some girl who knows you're alive. Wait, actually, that's not what it means, but it's a start.

14) I’m not addressing the mystery of the week because I feel it’s so wrong in so many aspects I don’t even know where to start.

15) Now, this is awkward…

KEITH: Last time I saw you, you were nineteen, and that was...just a couple weeks ago. (…) Mind if I see those IDs of yours. I guess I don't have to ask where you got these.

KEITH: You recognise the work? Out of thirty-seven citations yours truly wrote in six campus-area bars last night, no fake ID could hold a candle to your standards. You may not want to believe this, honey, but there are mistakes you can't take back. What if they'd gotten drunk and stumbled into the street like Jim Wilson. Would you want to explain that to their parents?

This is yet another instance of Veronica’s almighty and reckless attitude.

MAC: Sorry. I was afraid you were trying to get back at Logan somehow by coming as Dick's date.

VERONICA: Ew. Yeah, nothing says "I'm over you" like dating down.

19) And the pain, oh, THE PAIN!!

20) Jebus, the subtext in their conversation is so overwhelming, though.

LOGAN: I girded myself for seeing you with a date tonight, you know, proof you weren't pining away.

VERONICA: All the periodically good ones were taken and I pine for no man.

LOGAN: Hmm. Well maybe you should try branching out. I mean, who knows, maybe there's a consistently good one here tonight.

I kind of wish she had brought up the fact she had been eating his face when he approached her.

Anyway, it’s kind of obvious that Logan is disguising the truth as a joke and that he had mentally prepared himself to see Veronica with someone. Joke’s on him, though. Have you ever thought about the fact that Logan’s joke about sending the weird guy on Veronica’s way was the catalyst that brought Veronica and Piz together? If Logan hadn’t sent the guy, then Veronica wouldn’t have run to Piz for help. In turn, Piz wouldn’t have pretended to be her boyfriend, Wallace wouldn’t have confronted Veronica about how insensitive she was being with Piz’s feelings, Veronica wouldn’t have apologized to Piz, Piz wouldn’t have sloppily kissed her and Veronica wouldn’t have chased him.

21) Veronica was pushing it, though. She could really be an asshole sometimes. There’s no way she wasn’t aware of how he felt about her. Also, bless you, Wallace.

VERONICA: There you are! Sorry, this is a “break glass in case of emergency” situation. I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend.

PIZ: Oh, sorry. You're right, babe. Bad boyfriend. Fresh drink coming up, okay.

WALLACE: (…) You need to listen to me right now, okay. What you're doing is cruel.

VERONICA: Are you kidding? When I told him my name... He did that whole "banana fanna fofanna" thing.

WALLACE: No, not him. Piz. If you don't know he has a thing for you...

VERONICA: Piz doesn’t have a th-

WALLACE: You're smarter than that. Be a good person. Just put him out of his misery.

200 (so far...) reasons to ship McDanno. (Now updated with the season 8 reasons: 200 reasons, to celebrate the fact that with season 9 Hawaii Five-0 will reach the milestone of 200 episodes)

Hi! Today I bring a gift to the McDanno fandom, courtesy of a lovely fan I met on twitter, @elsitaa, who asked me for a little help on a very nice project she had: watch every episode of Hawaii Five-0 and write of a list of all the reasons to ship McDanno. Season after season, she sent me a list and, believe me, after seven season the list was VERY long, but we managed to sort-out all the reasons and pick those that seemed more important to us. Now the list counts 150 reasons to ship McDanno, but this is most of all a wish for the show to make this list much, much longer.Now, I’m posting the list for you, and you are absolutely welcome to comment on it, add your reasons to ship McDanno, if you don’t find them in the list, pick your favorite reasons on the list or even, if you have the skills, make a video about it: feel free to use the list. It’s really just a way to celebrate this wonderful story of love and wish it the best, happiest evolution.

REASONS TO SHIP MCDANNO (150, so far… here’s to many more!) (Now 200 reasons, updated with the season 8 reasons)

1. The first meeting: sparks flying immediately and, most of all, the fact that fate brought them to each other in the worst time of their lives to give each other a reason to be happy again.

2. Steve starting Five-0 because he found something, or better someone, in that garage: Danny Williams.

3. Carguments (lovers’ quarrels) since day one.

4. “Book’em, Danno”, a term of endearment.

5. Steve’s gift to Danny and Grace to spend some quality time together: three nights at the Kahala Hotel. Just the first of many gifts that show how much they care for each other.

6. “We are partners”.

7. Grace telling Steve her dad talks a lot about him. Steve being delighted about it.

8. Steve talking to the Governor to help Danny when Rachel threatened to bring Danny to court to change the custody deal so Danny couldn’t spend time with Grace.

9. “Maybe you are not as alone here as you think, Danno”.

10. “How long you two been married?”, something they have been asked a lot throughout the years.

11. “You miss me, don’t you?” “Oh, yeah, I wish you were here” … “Are you talking to your wife?” “I’m talking to my partner”.

12. Steve being next to Danny during the tough time of Meka’s death, helping him clear his name and going to his memorial service to comfort Danny.

13. That “I know you” that sounded a lot like Steve’s first “I love you” to Danny.

14. The intimacy suggested by things like Danny feeling at home when he’s in Steve’s house and by Steve driving Danny’s car even when Danny is not with him and almost every time when Danny is with him (which means that Danny picks Steve up every morning and changes seat so Steve can drive, just one of their many married couple habits).

15. “I picked you, didn’t I?”.

16. Calling each other “Babe”, “Baby” and other cute or funny nicknames they use only for each other.

17. Following each other no matter what, no matter the risks, no matter the costs.

18. Repairing the Santa suit together and setting up a nice Christmas party for Grace.

19. Worrying for each other, being always protective, sometimes overprotective, of each other.

20. Always thinking about each other when they’re in danger or right after a dangerous situation. The first thing they do in these situations is calling each other’s names.

21. They love spending time together, watching TV series, movies, going out, staying home… everything is good as long as they do it together.

22. No matter what they’re doing, they always find time for each other.

23. Steve has a “face”, Danny has a “tone”, they know each other so well they can read each other even when words are not involved.

24. Steve took Danny on the first ride on his dad’s car (such an important thing for him).

25. Steve lied to the FBI for Danny so he could get to Matt on his own.

26. Steve needs to know every last minute detail of Danny’s life, and so does Danny about Steve.

27. Steve takes Danny for a hike to a special spot where he used to go with his dad.

28. They care for each other more than they do for themselves.

29. Danny drawing a heart in the air to tell Steve he loves him.

30. Steve being simply terrified when Danny gets exposed to sarin.

31.Steve picking up Grace – who calls him “Uncle Steve” - from school to take her to the hospital to see her dad. The way they looked like family in these scenes.

32. “You know, uh, we have become very close” and their hug after Danny gets released from the hospital.

33. “My eggs? You love my eggs”, which means that Danny cooks breakfast for Steve.

34. Danny chose to stay next to Steve even if Rachel was waiting for him at the airport with Grace and pregnant with his baby. Danny makes Steve his priority and this is something absolutely new for Steve.

35. “I’m gonna get you out of this thing” and he does, helping Steve getting out of jail and clearing his name.

36. “You're not wearing a tie, it suits you”, Steve loves Danny is not wearing a tie because it’s a sign he feels at home in Hawaii.

37. Steve always tells Danny what a good dad, cop and man he is.

38. They are jealous of each other, sometimes they show it, sometimes they try to hide it. “Try” being the keyword here. They just forget how to be subtle when it comes to each other.

39. Steve is incredibly protective of Danny’s kids. Danny knows that very well and trusts Steve to love them as much as he does.

40. Steve let Danny crash in his house for more than two weeks and wanted him to stay even more so he gave him a pair of headphones to help him with his insomnia.

41. “I’ll think about you all the time”: Danny being the one to find Steve after being tortured by Wo Fat.

42. Steve and Danny looking at Charlie through the glass. The way Steve looks at Danny in this scene, with so much love. They don’t know yet that Charlie is Danny’s son, but it’s sweet to think they both were there, sharing this important moment.

43. The incredible intensity of Steve’s emotions during the whole episode where Grace got kidnapped.

44. Danny taking care of Steve’s house when he was away for his reserve drill.

45. “I’m happy when I’m not with you” “That’s a lie too, you love me”: absolutely no denial coming from Danny.

46. “I’m gonna be your marriage counselor” - Tony Archer, yet another person who notices how married they are.

47. That whole “Surf buddies” scene, how much they looked like a couple and the way Mary teased them about that.

48. Steve’s “Dear Danno” letter when he left for Japan.

49. Danny worrying for Steve the whole time he was in Japan (“like a cheerleader's father on prom night”).

98. Danny hands himself to the Colombians to protect Steve, who was there with him when he killed Reyes. Steve asks to go through all this with Danny, but Danny doesn’t let him and asks him to be there for Grace.

99. “You have to believe in your father. Your dad, he’s the best man I know, and everything he does, he does to protect the people he loves… I promise you, I promise you kid, I’m gonna bring Danno home”, a promise that he keeps.

100. Steve is the first person Danny talks to as soon as he knows the truth about Charlie being his son. Steve supports and encourages Danny through it all.

101. The way Danny lets only three people in the world call him Danno: Grace, Charlie and Steve.

102. Danny trying to protect Steve from being hurt by Catherine, he wants him happy and doesn’t want him to get hurt. In a wonderful deleted scene of episode 1.24, when they talk about Danny’s relationship with Rachel, Steve says that perfectly: “I don't want you to get hurt, okay? I just want you to be happy, Danny, that's all."

Danny and Steve saving everybody and each other once again during the nuclear bomb emergency, talking again about spending the rest of their lives together (“looking at your bald head for the rest of my life”), that’s something they say frequently (“I'm gonna have to listen to this for the rest of my life, aren't I?), it’s like they just know they’re going to be together forever).

104. Steve and Danny dancing together during Kono and Adam’s wedding.

105. Steve being always there for Danny and Charlie during the medical procedure to save Charlie.

106. Steve always thinking of ways to make Danny happy, for example getting him Jerry Rice’s autograph, but it’s a pattern he follows many other times, when something good happens he always needs to share it with Danny.

108. Danny saving Steve’s life when they’re undercover and Steve gets shot, landing the plane on the beach and then giving half of his liver to Steve. The super emotional scene of the transplant, with “Stand by me” playing the whole time.

109. Steve realizing what Danny did for him after the transplant and Danny saying he needed a new liver, so of course he gave it to him. It’s clearly an incredibly big gesture, but for Danny is just something natural, of course he would do anything for Steve.

110. Steve thanking Danny for what he did for him, touching his heart to show how he feels, because probably words aren’t enough. The way they say I love you to each other and Steve finally following Danny’s advice to take some rest because he needs it and Danny is worried for him.

111. Danny asking Steve how he feels when they get back on a helicopter for the first time after Steve got shot and almost killed. Just another proof of how careful Danny is and how he can read Steve even when he doesn’t say or show how he feels.

112. The way they care about each other all the time and want to stay always in touch when they’re not together, they seem to spend a lot of time on the phone when Danny is not in Hawaii.

113. All the ways Steve proves he loves Danny’s kids as if they’re his own. One of the most beautiful scenes is the reunion with Grace in the winter formal episode.

114. “I’m so happy to see you right now, I’ll give you a hug, I’ll give you a kiss, pick a base”, the way they hug each other, like a family.

115. Bridget telling Steve Danny talks a lot about him and that their mother thinks Steve is a great catch... but Bridget is already married, so she must think Steve would be a great catch for Danny. A good mother always wants the best for his son, right?

116. Steve getting Danny to touch him on his lower back to prove his point about Bridget’s colleague… they touch each other all the time, so what does that mean, Danny?

117. Steve telling Danny he knows what he means when he talks about having feelings for your partner.

118. “You don’t have to dance with me tonight”, again, so much flirting all the time.

119. Danny knowing Steve so well he can read his body language perfectly: “Oh, you know your boy well”.

120. The way they struggle to be romantic and spontaneous with their girlfriends, but not with each other, that comes perfectly natural.

131. Steve gave Danno a home, Danny gave Steve a family, episode 7.23 is another wonderful proof of that and how much they’re meant to be together, it’s like the universe conspired to bring them together.

132. “I’m very overprotective”, Danny says, and that’s true: he’s overprotective when it comes to the three most important people in his life: Grace, Charlie and Steve, his family.

133. Steve tells Danny his relationship with Rachel is not healthy, he sounds angry and jealous, but most of all worried about Danny.

134. Steve buying a chef’s hat for Danny and telling him before he jumps on the truck.

They chose to work on a dream, together, a life project that takes time, effort, patience, love. And they’ll do amazing things together.

152. The restaurant started as Danny’s dream, but, once Danny asked Steve to be part of it, Steve was fully in, it became their dream, and Steve started to refer to it that way: “our dream”.

153. Steve was the one who signed the commercial lease agreement, he put all his mind and heart, enthusiasm and hopes in this project. With their combined efforts and all this love as foundation, it will be a success for sure.

You can feel Danny belongs to that place as much as Steve, and the same things goes for Danny’s place: it’s not just Danny’s home, but also Steve’s.

160. The way they can’t help smiling when they see the “McDanno’s” t-shirts brought by Kamekona, even if they don’t fit the classy ideas they have in mind for the restaurant, but that logo, that name… how can you resist?

161. “The constant bickering you two engage in. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's clearly coming from a place of love. That's why you're going into the restaurant trade together. Can't bear to be apart, right?”. Like the observant man he is, Harry immediately understood why it’s so important for Steve and Danny to work on this dream and achieve it together: they can’t even consider not being part of each other’s life, not getting to spend every day next to each other, doing something they love together, like they did since they met each other and like they plan to do in the future.

162. Danny keeps wearing the chef’s hat Steve bought for him, it certainly holds a special value for him.

163. The way Steve texts Danny to tell him about what happened to Toast, the way Steve smiles when Danny calls Hawaii “home”.

164. The way Danny shows up at Steve’s on Halloween, planning to scare him by wearing a mask, the fact that Grace left a pumpkin at Steve’s in case some kids showed up… they created their own traditions, they are a family,

165. Danny going to Steve’s place in the morning, finding him swimming with Eddie, the way Steve tells Eddie to shake to get Danny all wet, the way they smile at each other, the way they laugh together.

After Steve told Danny he got diagnosed with radiation poisoning, Danny got so worried he couldn’t stop thinking about that, he did some research, he studied and wanted Steve to listen to all the things he found out, he organized an intervention to insure Steve would take those advises more seriously.

167. Later, in the same episode, Danny opens up his heart even more: ““I lay up at night, I’m sick about it. I can’t sleep”. The things he says, the way he says them, so much love in every word.

168. The way Steve immediately notices when Danny tries to change his attitude and simply hates it, because he wouldn’t want Danny any other way, he thinks he’s perfect just the way he is. “Please, whatever she said to you, don't do that. Don't change. I love you, man, the way you are.”

169. The way the dialogue at the end of episode 8x06 is a beautiful declaration of love, with so many things unsaid, so many ways to say “I love you” even without actually saying so, and that goes for many scenes between them: every word, every gesture, every moment they’re there for each other… they keep saying “I love you” all the time, they keep proving it, all the time.

170. Lou telling Steve: “why don’t you listen to your boy, you know he loves you”. Like everyone who knows them, Lou knows how much Danny loves Steve and cares for him, and vice versa.

171. The way Steve manages to always talk about Danny even when he’s not there, like when he talks with Adam once he’s back in Hawaii.

172. The way they totally look and sound like a couple in episode 8x08: “I got you, babe”, “Were you worried about me, Danny?”, “Thank you, I love you”.

173. The way they walk arm-in-arm at the end of the same episode, it makes you think also about the end of episode 7x25. Love how comfortable they are with each other even when they’re in public.

174. The way Steve looks at Danny and softly touches him while he suffers the effects of the virus, the way he takes care of him.

175. The way Danny is the first one Steve looks at as soon as the antidote is in his hands. Danny always comes first, he’s his priority.

The fact that when Danny says “I want to tell you something, I want to talk to you…” and Steve stops him, it clearly makes you feel as if they were going to confess their feelings to each other, but they don’t want to do that because they don’t want to think it’s over (and they’re right about that) and they’re still scared…

When Danny dreams about the restaurant, Steve is the one who tells him: “Grandma Williams right now is smiling down on you, boy”, such a beautiful, touching line, full of the emotions and so meaningful. With that line, Steve explained things so well: this dream is rooted in Danny’s past, in those sweet, loud memories, in those handed down recipes, is anchored in Danny’s present, the way he loves now, the man he became, is anchored in Steve, who shares this dream with him, is projected in the future, their future.

178. Steve is also the one who tastes Danny’s recipe (Danny feeds him in such an intimate gesture), and we all know why Danny had Steve try the recipe: because his opinion is the one that matter the most for him.

179. When Steve comes in the kitchen he says there is “another full house”… yes, our pessimistic Danny is no more pessimistic: in his dream the restaurant is a big success. Deep down, he knows that he and Steve, together, are capable of accomplishing anything.

180. That “Serve ‘em, Danno”. If we think that at first Danny pretended he didn’t like to be called that, because it was just something between him and Grace … now, it keeps being something between him and the three most important people in his life: Grace, Charlie and Steve.

181. In Danny’s dream, Grace and Will’s wedding takes place at Steve’s house. Truly heartwarming detail.

182. Danny also dreams about Charlie graduating at the police academy. When Steve says Charlie told him he’s his role model and Danny protests a bit… that’s actually Danny’s thought, let’s not forget that everything in these dream scenes comes from Danny’s mind and heart: he thinks Steve will be Charlie’s role model, he has no doubt about it. He knows Charlie will become the man we saw in this scene because of him, but also because of Steve. And that’s one of the greatest proof of trust and esteem Danny could ever give to Steve, along with that “If something happens, I need you to take care of Grace”, back in episode 3x06.

183. The fact that Steve and Danny wear matching crazy colorful socks in Danny’s dream… a sign, maybe?

184. Danny imagining Steve and himself as old men in a scene that suggests they will live together at some point.

185. He imagines his granddaughter wanting to become a cop, asking him if he would change anything about his life. He imagines himself telling her he wouldn’t change anything. He wouldn’t change anything about that life that brought him to grow old with Steve.

186. There’s a light that hides Steve’s ring finger in the one moment where we could see. Maybe Danny is still afraid of giving a name, a definition, to what he feels and what all these things he dreams mean?

187. The fact that in Danny’s dreams there aren’t any girlfriends or wives, just him and Steve. No need for anyone else when you found your perfect match, your soulmate, right?

188. Steve operating on Danny and saving his life. A good way to thank him for giving him half his liver, don’t you think?

189. Steve referring to the procedure saying “if I didn't put my finger inside of you, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now…”… everyone seems to catch the double meaning… everyone but Steve and Danny, of course!

190. The way Danny added Steve’s stocking to his and his children’s ones, one of the many things Danny does to make Steve feel like he belongs - something that Steve craved his whole life.

191. Danny didn’t add a stocking for Melissa. Later in the season we will have Steve saying he’s still keeping things casual with Lynn… they know these women for years now, but they never made things more serious, they’ve never made them truly part of their life. Why? Deep down they know those relationships are not meant to be? Those relationships don’t make them truly happy? There are no commitment issues, just look how committed Steve and Danny are to each other…I simply think Steve is not in love with Lynn, Danny is not in love with Melissa… and all four of them deserve much more than that. And I honestly think I don’t need any shipper goggles to see what’s objective: Steve and Danny deserve to be together, they’re meant to be together, they’re in love with each other and the fact that they are two men shouldn’t make any difference.

192. How comfortable Steve is, with his sweatpants and no shoes, it makes you think that he’s going to spend the night - it’s Christmas Eve - and be there, on Christmas morning, to open the gifts with Danny and the kids.

193. The way Steve moves around Danny’s house, like he truly belong there… he takes the cookies, pours himself a glass of milk, takes off his shoes… he knows where Danny keeps his emergency key… all of this, because Danny lets him feel like he owns the place, he told him where to find the key… he might as well give him one... well, they might as well start living together, right?

194. When it comes to think about an ideal fairytale or the story of a Christmas miracle, Steve is always the hero Danny thinks of. Think about it: Danny, the guy who used to always think about the worst case scenario, who thought is not in his DNA to be happy, the guy who, as a kid, if his parents were late coming home, begged God not to take his mom, because he couldn’t live without her, the guy who, on his wedding day with Rachel, could only think of the day she would get him divorce papers… That very man feels just the opposite way when it comes to Steve. When it comes to Steve, In Danny’s mind and heart, they’re both the unconventional princes of a super unconventional fairytale, the not so perfect but so good heroes of a Christmas miracle. When it comes to Steve, Danny believes in the possibility of a happy ending, one that sees them growing old together, making something they love, being happy, successful, fulfilled, together.

195. “Don't let that old curmudgeon fool you. This is his home. He's never gonna leave here.”

“Oh, he's not gonna leave here because he doesn't want to leave here or because you're not gonna let him?”

“Both.”: This is what happens when you really love someone. You don’t leave them, and they won’t let you leave.

196: Steve reassuring Danny when he has some doubts about the restaurant: “it’s gonna be awesome, all right?” Yes, it’s going to be awesome, guys.

197. Steve’s reaction when Uncle Vito tells him about the man who shot Danny: Steve’s strongest emotions are always related to Danny… always.

198. At the end of episode 8x22, while Tani talks and says: “… there’s someone out there that supports you. That loves you. Somebody who’s on your side …” we see Steve and Danny working together at the restaurant. Why do I say this scene is so like them? Because these two may not talk much about love, they rather show love, they rather prove love. And they do it every single day, since the first day, and they plan to do so for the rest of their life.

199. The way Steve says “take your shirt off” to Danny in episode 8x23: Basically what we get from this scene is that when Danny protests too much all Steve has to do is to tell him to take his shirt off and Danny complies ;) All the tension and the touching in this scene.

200. Looking at the whole season 8, Steve and Danny faced and overcame many obstacles, each one of these steps will lead Steve and Danny to realize their dream together, each hurdle overcome together will make their success even more significant and valuable. It all comes down to what Steve said in episode 8x01: Steve said in 8x01? “I believe in you… I believe in us … and that’s all that matters”. I believe in them… and I hope you do, as well, because that’s that kind of love and hope that makes great dreams come true.

1. what season did you start watching supernatural?

well this is a funny story because i can’t really remember. i do remember when i was younger that supernatural would come on after charmed (which i watched all the time) and i would watch a couple of episodes that way. but then i stopped watching and picked back up somewhere around season seven i think (like season seven was currently airing). i went back and rewatched the previous seasons that i missed to catch up and now here i am.

2. who was the first character you fell in love with?

this is also a funny story because i first fell in love with sam even tho i am totally a dean girl now (that’s a lie, i’m a bribo, who am i even kidding) but there was something about sam, maybe it was that fluffy, long hair because i was going through a phase where i only liked boys with long hair like that and so i fell in love with sam first.

3. who was a character that you hated at first but grew to love?

jo harvelle. i did not like her at all. she was annoying and whiny and i really didn’t like her but upon my spn rewatch i grew to like her, i guess. i mean, she was young and naive but i started to understand her. she was that way because her father had died and then her mother put her on lock down basically and she didn’t have the opportunity to find out for herself what she liked or didn’t like, ya know.

4. which character would you most want to be in a long-term relationship with?

dean winchester. call me a basic bitch or whatever but i love dean and i think he needs someone who will be there for him when he needs them but also give him distance when he needs it. dean honestly is such a pure soul and he needs something good in life.

5. if you could go on just one date with one character, which one would you choose?

sammy babe. again call me a basic bitch but i think that it would be a lot of fun to go on a date with him.

6. what would you do on the date?

i don’t know. maybe go watch a movie, share a popcorn. have a nice dinner. something like that.

7. which character would you most want to be like?

either john winchester or bobby.

8. which character would you most like to see brought back from the dead?

again either bobby or john. i think it would be interesting to see the relationship between both the boys with john, being that they’re so much older. i would love to see sam’s relationship grow with his father. and then with bobby, he was a constant in the boys lives that needs to be back.

9. which character would you most like to punch?

yeah, i’m not gonna answer this one. not at all because my answer probably wouldn’t be well received.

10. who is your absolute favorite character?

umm, sam and dean, duh. but besides from them, probably john. i really wish we could know more about john because there’s so much hate for him and i wish there wasn’t.

11. which “big bad” do you think was the worst?

the worst? as in the worst thought out character or worst as in the best villain? i’m going with the first because honestly the whole amara storyline kinda pissed me off. they had such potential to do some great things with her and then they didn’t and she was just this flat character.

12. which character are you most like?

i don’t know really. i’ve been told tho that i am a lot like dean. i mean, i’ve got a little brother that even tho he drives me crazy, i would do anything for. i am not an overly affectionate person however when you manage to get past these walls that i have, you are there forever. i am funny and i am witty and yeah, i don’t know what else to say.

13. what death hit you the hardest?

bobby’s. most definitely because the boys needed him and then the writers just had to go off and kill him.

14. what season finale hit you the hardest?

oh lord, i don’t know. maybe the end of season one when everyone is so young and happy and then they get in the car crash and then the opening in season two killed me.

23. if you could cast one famous actor in an episode of spn, who would you chose?

this one i don’t know either.

24. if you could write your own episode, what kind of creature would you like to see included?

if i could write an episode it would be based off my fic that i wrote a while ago called “mine carts and raging fires.” it has your classic monster being the wendigo but also the brothers relying on each other and some major hurt!brothers. it would be my favorite episode ever.

25. who’s your favorite girl that dean’s hooked up with?

i don’t know being that dean’s had a ton of one night stands and hasn’t emotionally bonded with anyone but thinking back through the seasons it would have to be cassie because dean trusted her enough to tell her about his life and what he did and it was probably his first heartbreak.

26. who’s your favorite girl that sam’s hooked up with?

i really liked sarah back in season two. i thought that she and sam was adorable with each other.

27. what are some of your favorite convention moments?

anytime when we get a glimpse into their lives or when they hug... or when they get up on stage and sing.

28. if you were going to guest star (or be a recurring guest star) on spn, how would you want your character described?

a hunter (obviously) who is pretty badass, has an awesome aim, funny, witty, caring. someone who can get things done when asked. seems cold at first but when you peel back the layers you see that i’m actually really nice. probably gotta have that tragic backstory. kinda a lone wolf but would stick around with the brothers, help them when need be but not overbearing.

29. what do you hope to see in the next season?

just give me my classic spn with my monsters of the week and classic hunts and old motel rooms and scary episodes. that’s what i want. and for what’s dead to stay dead.
