I don’t know anything about chatgpt, but this is a real conversation I had with an IT guy.

— It’s so awesome at checking code! Sure, you need someone to control that its suggested corrections make sense, but so awesome! Makes work so much faster! — So where does this data go? The input from your side? — A cloud! — Where’s the cloud data stored physically? Who do the servers belong to? — There’s a bunch of major companies, Microsoft, Apple, others that pitched together and developed the initial solution. — What about the intellectual property? Who does this data and chatgpt belong to? — Like... everyone? It’s available to anyone. And the raw AI data itself cannot be “used” in its raw format by anyone. Hard to explain, but this neural learning shit is weird. — Ok, so the data is available to anyone... until it won’t be because big corporations. You realise you’re helping train a tool that will make your own work obsolete, plus you’re uploading your company’s proprietary code to some cloud somewhere? — Yeah, but it’s so awesome while it is available.
