#47: The Lovebirds & The Snake (1.05)

Up to this point we'd been having such a nice time with our little lovebirds...and then there comes a snake in their midst. 😪

But one of the things on my internal TOWL wishlist was Michonne having the chance to finally confront Jadis and tear her up...and well, TOWL yet again said 'wish granted.' 😌🧞‍♀️...

Outside of Richonne’s cozy cabin of love, we’re given our first indicator of how the world will soon be back to screaming at them when we see none other than trifling Jadis ominously making her way to the cabin. 😒

But before Jadis confronts Richonne, there’s a flashback to three years ago when Jadis first met up with Father Gabriel for the start of their annual tea times. 🙃

Now, I tend to want to fast-forward most of these Jadis/Father Gabriel scenes during a rewatch since they’re a little dragged out to me. But there is one particular thing that I very much loved hearing during their meetups. We'll talk about it later.👌🏽

Also, let me just say that this revelation that Jadis had been visiting Father Gabriel annually had me side-eying both of them hard. 😒

You mean to tell me, for years Jadis got to look forward to her little meetups with Gabe while knowing she’s the reason Rick doesn’t even get to know if his wife and daughter are okay or get to see them ever again??? Jadis isn't just trifling, she's evil. 😤

And as for that man Father Gabriel…😑. Seeing his involvement in these secret meetups had me like...

I was truly looking at Father Gabriel like SIR, if you would have let Michonne know that Jadis - who disappeared around the same time as Rick - meets up with you and she has a whole helicopter, I just know Michonne would have put two and two together very quickly.

Like Daryl is an elite tracker and he was never able to trace down Rick almost as if Rick, idk, just disappeared into the sky or something. If Michonne and Daryl knew about Jadis and her helicopter I just know they’d tell Father Gabriel to expect some company during his next annual meeting with that snake. Because they’d want to come along and ambush Jadis to try and get some potential answers about Rick's whereabouts. 

And I would've been in full support of Michonne and Daryl's tea-time ambush, like...

When chatting with Father Gabriel, Jadis acts like she doesn’t know anything when he says Rick died on that bridge and again - Jadis, you beast.

I feel like these flashbacks were intended to humanize Jadis but a lot of it just made me think about how heartless and selfish she is by seeking her own moments of personal connection with Gabriel while keeping Rick from his family. Had me looking at Jadis like...

So then they cut to Rick and Michonne looking precious and serene while they sleep in that tiny bed. ☺️

Seeing them like this made me so happy because, after years of going to bed alone, they finally get to fall asleep in each other's arms again, where they’re most meant to be. You just know this is some of the best sleep they’ve got in years. 👌🏽😌

And, it's only seen for a split second, but I love how Rick is holding Michonne with his bandaged arm and she has her arm over his. Like I'm just so glad that Rick gets to go from experiencing the wild, lonely, and traumatizing day he chopped off his hand to now having that very arm held by the love of his life while they peacefully sleep. 🥹

And clearly, whatever they were up to the night before had Richonne knocked out, because Jadis is fully in the room with guns aimed at them and they don't even wake up until she actually speaks.

I admit I did like hearing Richonne be called 'lovebirds' as Jadis greets them saying, “Morning, lovebirds.” 🤭 But at the same time, Jadis has always taken an odd and intrusive interest in Richonne's relationship so it was annoying hearing this come from her as well 😑

And this moment is very much giving similar vibes to Richonne’s canon ep in season 6 when they’re fast asleep and Jesus pulls up on them and startles them awake.

(Side note: I was thinking about how Jesus walked in on them in 6.10 and he really was too bold for that. 🙈 Like not only does Paul enter their house in the wee hours, he enters their bedroom. 🙃 And then even seeing that Rick is asleep and naked in bed with someone, he's still like psst we need to talk. And with what he had to talk about...it was important but it wasn't 'roll up on you and your woman in bed' urgent, so he could have waited a minute. 😅 But Paul's bold self barging in made for an iconic moment so I'll take it, even tho he definitely tried it lol.)

Both in the season 6 moment and this episode 5 moment Richonne immediately hops out of bed and grabs weapons and I love how in TOWL there’s sort of a weapon reversal with Michonne grabbing the ax and Rick grabbing a sword.

Two things about Richonne: they sleep very well after a night together & they're also instantly ready to be in fight mode if need be.

And, I love the little detail of having Michonne in Rick’s boxers. 😊 Also the body = ☕️, of course. 💅🏽

Jadis tells Michonne to tie Rick to the bed and sit down. They know they’re kinda cornered so Rick drops his weapon. And you just know Rick is extra pissed because he had every intention of starting their morning more like this...

And then I like how Michonne lingers a little bit and just stares Jadis down before dropping her weapon. Baddest 👏🏽 Chick 👏🏽 In 👏🏽 The 👏🏽 Game 👏🏽.

Once again, if looks could kill Michonne’s stare would have Jadis dropping dead right then and there. I had been very eager for Michonne to have a chance to tear Jadis up after everything she’s done and Michonne looks like she wants to do exactly that now that they’re finally face to face. 💯

So Michonne ties Rick to the bed and then they prove that a couple that death stares together stays together the way they both look at Jadis like it’s about to be her last day on earth.

Michonne calmly asks Rick, “You think she’s alone?” And never one to miss an opportunity to call Jadis out, Rick answers, “She’s alone. And I bet nobody knows she’s here.” He knows Jadis acts in self-interest so she’s probably trying to handle this solo to keep the truth about Rick and Michonne from linking back to her.

Jadis says, “That’s just rude,” and then y’all, we get more um shall we say 'insight?' into Richonne as a couple when Rick pretty effortlessly tightens Michonne’s zip ties with his teeth. As many have noted, this felt a little too natural to be a first-time thing for them lol. 🤭

I love how they so easily operate like a well-oiled machine doing this, and again they seem more inconvenienced than threatened by this snake in front of them. 

One of the many things Michonne and Rick have in common is they aren't afraid to be a little petty with an opp every now and then, so once again Michonne is just talking to Rick like Jadis isn’t even in the room when she asks, “How do you think she found us?”

Michonne's letting Jadis know girl, you don't even deserve to be addressed directly.

Jadis realizes this petty couple is probably gonna keep ignoring her unless she interjects, so she says she’s just gonna jump in. And then she explains how she found them. She was suspicious of the circumstances surrounding their disappearance and when she went to the wreck she noticed a missing yellow truck.

As Jadis goes on and on about following their breadcrumbs on the route to Virginia, Rick again doesn’t address Jadis as he tells Michonne, “Nobody knows she’s here.” He’s over this serpent.

And Michonne confidently responds, “She missed her chance. She should’ve killed us while we were sleeping.” Richonne's energy here was really giving 'anyway...back to the conversation.'

Also, Rick and Michonne truly are cut from the same cloth because Michonne saying what Jadis should have done to them in this scene reminded me of Rick in the season 6 premiere when he finds that shady Alexandrian, Carter, going behind his back and he tells Carter how he would have done things if he was in his shoes lol.

Also, I love how within a span of 24 hours, Richonne has had guns pointed at them twice and both times they act like the one with the gun is the one in danger. And they’re correct. 👌🏽

It was fun seeing Richonne operate in the spirit of petty and unbothered together lol. They’re fed up with Jadis and y'all...

Jadis says she didn’t kill them because she previously left things unsaid between a confidante and didn’t want to do that before killing both of them.

Rick accurately tells Jadis about herself when he accuses her of just playing games and not really caring about the army or the city. She really does just play games in this franchise - putting the Anne in shenanigans for years and years. 😪

And Rick calling her Anne seems to get under Jadis' skin as she insists that she does care about the CRM and their mission and she’s not that woman she used to be in TWD. Also - the way Richonne is looking at her while she talks, it’s giving lethal lovebirds. 😌

Despite Jadis’ yapping about who she is now and why she’s doing this, Rick still is adamant that she’s doing this for her. Jadis says if she let Rick and Michonne go home then her important work would end if another officer found them.

And then the snake tries to pull her reoccurring line to Rick by looking at him and saying, “I saved your life.”

Jadis has spent years trying to force that 'life-saving' narrative on Rick but see, this time it goes a little different because now Michonne is here to set the record all the way straight.

I appreciate that the second Michonne hears Jadis say she saved Rick's life, she immediately shuts that down and addresses Jadis directly for the first time to remind her, “You took it. You took it from him. You took it from me. You took it from our children.” 👏🏽💯

Exactly.

I love how Michonne is so fiercely defending her family and how she phrases it in a way that makes it clear that Jadis taking Rick took life from him and it took life from each of the members of his immediate family. Their family is their life and in keeping them from each other Jadis really did take so much from them. 😔

And now that Michonne knows Rick had been living while dead with the CRM, she really does mean it when she says Jadis took his life. (Also again, hearing Michonne or Rick say “our children” never gets old.)

Michonne continues, passionately saying, “All those years they grew up without their father. All those years I didn’t know if he was alive or dead.” I’m so glad Michonne got a chance to go off about this because truly these things she's talking about are a big part of why what Jadis did is so appalling.

Judas really forced kids to be without their father for years, and she knew it too. She might not have known about RJ (even tho who knows what Father Gabriel might've told her during one of their meetups) but she knew Rick had a young daughter. She knew he had a wife. And yet she still used Rick as leverage to 'upgrade' her life. So to Jadis I forever say...

And Rick is ready to match the energy and cosign everything Michonne is saying when he declares, “You stole our family, Anne.”

Richonne letting this snake finally know the truth of the matter, truly had me like...

But of course, Jadis acts like she doesn’t care and is unmoved by the damage she caused to the Grimes family. 😒

She explains why she didn’t kill Rick and Michonne in their sleep, saying she needed to thank them.

Jadis states, “By dying here today, Alexandria will remain safe and your children will have a better world.” What kind of screwed-up logic has her thinking Judith and RJ will have a better world without their parents in it??? The CRM has people losing their everloving minds. 😑

Once again the subject of 'choices' comes up when Jadis says, “You could have made other choices, but you didn’t lose here. You won a different way. It’s the end of your story. Let that be your peace.”

I don’t exactly know everything that Jadis’ work entailed with the CRM since I think it was explored more in spin-offs which I didn’t watch, but I can tell that she clearly is used to these assassinations going her way. However, baby, this is Richonne so of course they are not about to go out like this.

The second Judas shoots at them, Rick and Michonne quickly get out of dodge. Rick tosses the bed on her and then Michonne is able to get in a much-deserved swipe at Jadis with RJ's ax which feels poetic somehow. 👏🏽 Like after Bowlcut played a big role in RJ not having his dad in his life for the first 7 years, now her time is getting cut short by the very weapon his parents got for him. Idk I just like to think of it as Michonne & RJ getting their lick back. 😋

Jadis scurries away and Michonne is ready to end her asap when she tries to shoot at her but Rick stops her. And the way Michonne says Rick's name, the woman is seeing red when it comes to killing Jadis. And same here, cuz I was yelling at Jadis like...

Rick says they need to go cuz they have to stop her. So Michonne breaks her zip ties as they then head off for a little car chase action where Michonne will remind Rick of exactly why Jadis has gots to go today. 👌🏽😌

I originally wasn’t going to make a part 2 but I got a lot of requests so here it is 💞 the control aspect did change here (only bc it gets 🌶️ and it was easier for me to write it like this w out getting toooo descriptive + repetitive loll) but honestly with the way Ao’nung worships you as his mate + how obsessed he is with touching you, he’s definitely making you his pillow princess. 🤭

You and Ao’nung didn’t make it back to your shared Mauri in time, what a surprise. You briefly managed to avoid his attempts at grabbing hold of your body, squealing excitedly like you were playing a game of tag while he chased after you. But alas, your success was short lived. His hand caught your forearm and tugged it towards him, whipping you back to face him and causing your body to stumble into his expectant grasp. “Ao’nung…” you gave him a warning look and ran your hands along his biceps, biting your lip to stop him from hearing the next sound that was about to leave your mouth after his hands fell below your waist with their own agenda.

He roughly spun you around and you covered your mouth to silence your gasp. He wrapped his arms firmly around your waist to hold you in place, pushing his bulge against your backside with a quiet hum in your ear. He buried his face into the crook of your neck, taking a deep inhale to bask in the scent of your strong pheromones and exhaling shakily as the sweet aroma radiating off your body filled his nostrils. Ever since the two of you bonded your queues, something as simple as your scent could drive him absolutely mad. Your hand came up behind you to hold the back of his head closer to your neck and you cocked yours to the side to grant him more access- your stomach clenching when his fingers threatened to dip past the waistline of your loincloth.

“Not here,” You spat out between disoriented breaths, breaking away from him much to his dissapointment and taking hold of his hand again.

The two of you desperately stumbled behind a partially secluded tree with tall vegetation around it, not having any time to contemplate if It was private enough as his hands found your waist and yanked your body flush against his once more. He needed you close to him but having you pressed against his body just wasn’t enough. He needed you closer.

Ao’nung’s kisses were just as unforgiving as the relentless teasing you endured upon arriving to his clan’s island. He chased your lips like a reflex every time you broke for air and with complete disregard of your labored breathing, leaving you with less than a second to attempt to catch your breath. He kissed you like he hadn’t had a meal in days, the taste of your tongue being his first choice to break his fast.

You felt your lips part from his, a small string of saliva connecting you both and making it obvious what the two of you had been doing just moments earlier. He lowered himself slightly and you used this moment to your advantage, gasping for air. He hooked his large hands behind your knees and hoisted you up as if you weighed nothing at all, taking it upon himself to wrap your legs around his waist. Everything was moving so fast you didn’t even have time to process which part of you was actively being touched. He nudged your head to the side, indulging in his assault on your neck and using his fangs to nip it at lightly.

“Ao’nung, slow down…” Your eyes fluttered to a close and you spoke breathlessly, your mind falling blank while your back rested against the tree he had you pressed against. You felt completely delirious.

“I’m sorry, my love” he cooed gently, placing yet another kiss to your lips- this one slow and sweet. “You made me wait too long.” He grunted, switching to show the other side of your neck the same amount of love.

You melted against his body and snaked an arm around his neck, sliding your hand down his back and feeling his muscles flex as he held you. You huffed in annoyance, your free hand impatiently searching for the strand of seaweed that tied his hair up and snapping it without a second thought. You raked your hands through his hair as it cascaded down his shoulders and yanked at it- making his head fall back and a groan slip past his lips. You acted quickly, placing gentle kisses and love bites on his skin. He let you have your fun, briefly. He held you with one arm now- reaching up to grab hold of your chin he lifted it back up and turned your head to the side. Intimate time with you was probably the only time Ao’nung didn’t care about his own benefit, his sole intent was to pleasure you and that was more than enough for him. Your panting increased when you felt his warm tongue shamelessly drag up your neck and end with a kiss on your jawbone, his hot breath aiding in raising your body temperature.

“I thought your breathing would have improved by now.” He smirked, referring to the many lessons you had participated in with Tsireya during your time here. But how could you breathe when he was pleasing every part of your body in all the right ways? You thanked the great mother for tsaheylu; as soon as the two of you bonded he knew every spot that left you weak in the knees and exactly how to touch it.

“This is-“ a loud moan interrupted your sentence when his head dipped down to show appreciation to your breasts, your hand cradling the back of his head and tightly gripping his hair. “-not the same.” You finally continued, using your hands to bring his face back up so you could see him.

He pressed his forehead against yours, the both of you breathing heavily while he gazed into your eyes with pure hunger and lust. You still could not believe how fast things had changed between the two of you, how quickly he had become obsessed with you. He was the last person you thought you would be in such a compromising position with. The both of you despised the other less than a year ago, and somehow that made your burning desire for one another even stronger.

You brushed the stray strands of hair from his face, not wanting to miss a single inch of his beauty. You seductively slid a small three fingered hand down the middle of his chest, feeling his heart thumping rapidly against your palm. His eyes trailed your every movement, looking back up at yours with a sly grin when you gasped at the feeling of his manhood brushing against your aching center. “Someone will see us, Ao’nung. We must stop.”

It seemed as if your warning did the exact opposite of its intention, his tongue excitedly flicking out to lick at his bottom lip, and then yours in return. You whimpered at his lewd behavior, instantly forgetting the words you had just spoken as you leaned forward.

He groaned loudly with zero regard for potential nearby ears once he felt your teeth teasingly tug at his bottom lip, his hands accepting your actions as the green light to continue. Caressing your thighs and smoothing over your curves, a sinister smirk produced on his lips as he hooked a singular finger under the delicate string of your loincloth. “Even better.”

Desiree Redesign Discussion✨

Desiree is very well known in the DP community and her design’s one of the most remembered. There’s a lot that’s good such as the blues, purples, flowy genie tail etc. At the same time, there were certain things I really wanted to change, especially when thinking of reintroducing her for a modern kids show.

A huge criticism in her design and in a lot of historical Arabian fashion is that it tends to be portrayed orientalist(imitation or depiction of the Eastern World, a lot of the time very inaccurate to say the least), I wanted to make sure my version was more accurate.

Made her outfit more modest. Another HUGE criticism in her design and orientalist portrayals is that Arabian fashion for women, tend to be rather sexualized, even more since she’s in a kids show. Arabian fashion’s much more modest. With that said, it was also more relaxed back then so I went with a more relaxed type to show she’s from a different period of time in Arabian history, compared to now.

Made her hair from straight black to a more wavy dark blue. Since I was going for a flowy, ethereal vibe in general for her, thought I’d make her hair more like that too. I also added braids, as they were very popular back then as well for Arabian Hairstyles. I made the ends like her genie tail🧞‍♀️ For her outfit, I added gold sparkle decoration for the magic feel and to help incorporate the magic sparkles and flow into her outfit to help separate the purples more and for a magical feel. Added dots, to make it feel like stars in the night.

Made her tail more glowy. Genie tails usually have a sort of mist/smoke effect on them and I wanted to use that! Plus it gives off a sparkling feel to it✨

Gave her a veil. As I said about the modesty, the hair’s also covered and would've been back then as well. Though like back then it was also more relaxed and it varied, some covering completely, others letting a bit of their hair shown, overall having something covering their head. Went for a type with hair shown, I went with that to show the time difference and also cause it looks very flowy and pretty. Went with deeper purples to contrast better with the blues and gold💜

 OG Color Palette- Green, gray, white, black, red, light blue, light purple with different shades for a shine affect and magenta for the lips.

My Color Palette- Light royal blue, dark blue, gold, white, magenta purple and dark purple.

I also wanted to give off a gentler, more ethereal vibe. My version of Desiree’s kinder and overall gentler compared to her canon self so I wanted a look to fit her new character better as well. She seeks to grant wishes so it makes sense she’d want to look in a way that’s welcoming, inviting. I wanted mine to feel calmer and more serene, hence why I added more flowy materials and elements✨☁️

Made her eyes more almond shaped, I think it suits her better than the circles.

Have both of eyes shown as the top of her hairs braided, so nothings covering them.

Gave her gold nail polish.

 Made her green skin blue to make it easier on the eye and fit with her other colors better.

Changed her purple lipstick and gave her bigger lips, the upper lip black, like the tips in Kim Possible.

Gave her eyeliner. Popular Arabian eyeliner has a lot on the upper lash and some at the bottom. There were shots that had Desiree like that. 

Changed her face structure.

Made her nose bigger.

Went for a deeper, more royal blue as well as darker shades of purples💙💜

Made her pupils twinkle shaped. I thought it’d looked pretty and to give off the idea of her being starry eyed, my version being more idealistic, a dreamer type✨

Made her head and necklace jewelry more elaborate. Added dangly sparkles✨ Gave her small gold cuff bracelets, instead of the purple with blue dangly hoops.

Gave her rings💍

Added a cuff bracelet on her ghost tail.

Made her jewelry gold. Aw the color’s very popular in Arabian jewelry, good contrast and cause it looks very cool⚱️⭐️

Added a swirl at the end of her tail as a lot tails are like that.

Made her jewelry more cuff like to give off the subtle feel of being trapped. Specifically being trapped in her ghostly form, longing to be free again in the living world. Ngl seeing Desiree’s cuff jewelry, and genies in cuff jewelry sometimes are portrayed like actual chain cuffs, being trapped to their bottles and duty as genies. Don’t get me wrong, she can change her jewelry and overall likes her jewelry, and I can see her to have worn stuff like that before her death, just something I’ve noticed in a lot of genie designs and thought it’d fit some of her own deep down feels.

my favorite birthdays have been the ones where a handful of friends go camping or rent a house somewhere and we just hang out all weekend. chill on a lake or a river or the beach, low level buzzed and cooking together, that's my jam.

I guess the simplicity of life? The littlest thing makes us happy when we're young, we don't have to worry or overthink, we just live life how we experience it in the moment and that's the magic of being a kid.

I think I'd wish for all my loved ones to get everything they need to live a good life, then I'd wish to travel the whole world, and finally, (that's very specific but why not!) to be transported to a fictional universe of my choosing for like a day or something, just to experience the magic of it 😊

It isn't – thank you for asking and making me remember the sun and the beach and the Mythos 🌅 ⛵️ What’s a vacation destination you’d return to over and over? I actually do: Skala Eressos on Lesvos. It's a small greek village that has the most wonderful beach where you can see the sun rise and set again, lots of nice cafés and bars with a very hippiesque vibe in general and for 20 years now it has been the home for a wonderful queer women's festival. I've been there several times and will return. Made a lot of friends/aquaintances from all over the world there. It's a home away from home. 🧞‍♀️ I will grant you 3 wishes. What are they? The agnostic's version of the serenity prayer, basically – all while having an endless supply of coffee, please ☕️
