you were usually pretty bad at math but since this was your last exam this season, you had put so much effort into it. jake had offered to tutor you, his little technique seemed to work perfectly ; a little kiss after every right answer. your hard work paid off immensely as you got the highest note in your entire grade, nearly a perfect score, a beautiful 97%.

keeping your grade to yourself for the rest of the day had been torture but you wanted to share the happy news with your cute little tutor in person when you'd see him later in the day. jake had been anxiously waiting for your grade as well, scared that his help had been to no avail. you received text after text from him throughout the day, begging you to tell him your grade.

the school hours were coming to an end as you received a text from jake saying that he was waiting outside in his car for you. as you joined him, as expected, he jumped at the opportunity to ask you about your results. wanting to play with his feelings a bit, you lowered your head, anxiously biting your bottom lip and playing with the ring on your index finger.

"what? what? did you fail? I'm so sorry! let me take you back home, we can talk about it if you want? we can get ice cream"

"I don't deserve ice cream" you continued on with the sad, disappointed look as jake's heart sank, he felt so bad, he was so hopeful that his help was going to be useful. sullenly, he drove you two back home in silence.

just as you were going to walk past the front door, you stopped jake who was ahead of you, grabbing his wrist and turning him to face you.

"is a 97 a passing grade?"

jake snapped his head back up with a confused look on his face. confused at the sudden question and why you would bring up such a specific grade.

"I'm not sure, that's what I got, is that a good grade according to you?" you weren't trying to hide your smile anymore as you saw the wheels turning in jake's mind, slowly registering what you were saying.

"you got a 97?? seriously!? love, that's amazing!" his voice had come out louder than he had expected but at that moment he was too overjoyed to care about who could've heard him. feeling so full of emotion, jake wrapped his arms around your waist pulling you off the floor as he squeezed your body against his tightly.

walking in the house with you attached to him like a monkey, all that could be heard were yours and his laugh of joy. he finally put you down, after a good full 5 minutes of the tight embrace, backing up and taking your face in one of his hands while the other was around your waist, bringing you close to him, he laid a big kiss on your lips.

"don't ever scare me like that, I thought I had failed you" he whispered in between kisses.

"how could you think that when I have the best, smartest, cutest tutor with me"

that makes you laugh, which makes him smile at the melodic noise.

“maybe my work can wait an hour or two, don’t you think?” you inquire, turning around to face him. “why don’t we go do something fun, like you’ve been wanting all week.”

the way his face immediately lights up just melts your heart. he grins and gently takes your hand, pulling you out of the chair.

“how could i refuse?” he teases, already dragging you off somewhere to do who knows what.
