i really want to write out some scripts for potential hannibal flood/amadan comics but i have literally no idea where to begin. ik most comic series don't start with their protagonist's origin point, but i've never been the best at writing stories out of order and it honestly doesn't matter in which order they're written because if they were to be published, they can just be published out of order as intended

the other thing is i'm just not getting any ideas for plot points to explore right now, which is the main roadblock. i guess what i have to ask myself is, what do i want the audience to know, learn, and grasp about hannibal flood? and go from there

Thinking about a comic in which Hannibal (my oc for the uninitiated) visits an ageing Penguin, as Oswald is something of his god-uncle in my universe, and just sort of spends time with him. Lets him know it's alright that he can't get up to crime like he used to. I'm sentimental.

Personality

Early Years

As a child and even into teen and young adulthood- basically any time he was under a Falcone-owned roof -Hannibal was described as serious, reserved, and creative, but easily upset. A child that lived inside his own head because the world outside was unwelcoming.

He only asked questions of adults when it was something he needed, like food, his words short, silently begging to not be fought on whatever matter he brought up.

Presently

As soon as Hannibal got out from under the Falcone thumb, he developed a bit more of a personality. He became sarcastic, flirtatious, and a touch more optimistic, but quick to anger. He took his business very seriously and tried his best not to step on his customers’ toes.

The Ace Chemicals seemed to loosen him up a bit, making him more quick to joke along with his husband and be unbothered by judging words or looks. He kept his feistiness and his flirtation, however.

Relationship With The Joker

Hannibal Flood and The Joker were noted to be “dangerously infatuated” with each other from the beginning. Besides The Batman, no one had ever sparked such deep feelings in The Joker; he preferred to keep himself “open” and sought out pleasure in sex workers instead of keeping solid relationships. It was almost like Hannibal was made for him.

Relationship With Bruce Wayne

Hannibal Flood’s relationship with Bruce Wayne was always considered rocky. Hannibal loved Bruce an impossible amount, and Bruce loved him back, but Hannibal had secrets. Bruce thought he had secrets as well, but he couldn’t hide anything from Hannibal, it seemed. Much like why Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne could not work out, but Bruce found it unimaginable to push Hannibal away.

Misc Info

It took four years for Bruce Wayne/The Batman to figure out that Hannibal Flood was also Amadán

He was aware that Hannibal was polyamorous and “had a husband,” but he had always been sly about the subject and Bruce decided more information would be provided to him if and when Hannibal was ready

For a long while, Hannibal believed he had truly left The Falcones behind

Unfortunately, Carmine tried to repair their relationship after the Holiday murders, leading to them breaking down and telling Bruce everything about their past

It understandably broke Bruce’s trust, quite a bit more than Hannibal being The Joker’s husband

He initially did not want to try and understand Hannibal, too consumed by heartache

Once he cleared his head, however, he was more willing to communicate on the situation as Hannibal slowly regained most of his trust (However, not all of it)

In the end, Carmine disowned them again after Hannibal explained his relationship with The Joker

Young Adulthood

Once old enough to get a job, Emilio became a prolific journalist and photographer in Gotham’s underground, basically feeding the criminals and the lower class stories of the rich. He’d also tend to get hired to stalk and take photos of people for various reasons; often revenge or validation for an attack. He left Gianni’s home at the age of 18 and moved into a “shithole apartment,” as he put it, but anything was better than being looked down upon by the mob. He could deal in rumors and blackmail, but that and hand-to-hand combat were all Emilio was good for if he managed to stay within the mafia circle.

Once he got into the rhythm of his new job, Emilio started saving up for a name change. Once he had the money, Emilio Denise Falcone became Hannibal Flood, officially and efficiently cutting himself off from the Falcone Crime Family once and for all.

As he traversed the underground for himself, he made sure he was up-to-date on the most prolific crimelords and their tactics; Poison Ivy, Two-Face, and others, but most importantly, The Joker. The only man that made mobsters quake in their Falcone Import loafers, and yet it was a miracle for them that he had no real interest in the mob. Being involved with them wouldn’t further his own twisted path.

Much like The Joker’s backstory itself, it’s unknown how exactly he and Hannibal’s worlds collided, but it’s said it all began on Hannibal’s 24th birthday. Onward from December 24th, 1943, The Joker was no longer seen with Harley Quinn, his “general,” but with the-yet-to-be-titled Hannibal Flood.

Adulthood

Hannibal Flood became a prominent name in Gotham’s underground, so prominent it began to become easy to threaten his way into upperclass events without consequence. Being freelance, bigger companies began offering him jobs, including the highly respected Gotham Gazette, though he mainly liked to work for the criminal-owned Script of Damocles.

At the age of 26, Hannibal Flood was “baptized” in Ace chemicals by The Joker. The two were madly in love within just three years, and Hannibal was willing to “see what The Joker saw.” Having willingly entered the bath of chemicals, they did not madden him as much as they did The Joker, it was more so an aesthetic change and a higher pain tolerance that Hannibal gained. With paled skin (even paler than before) and purpled hair, The Joker affectionately titled him Amadán, the Irish word for fool.

With the changed complexion, Hannibal became an expert in disguising himself, as to continue his “day job” of journalism. When people would see him without his disguises, he’d tell them a half-truth; “Chemical accident, doll… I can still feel the burn.”

The Joker proposed to Hannibal when he was 27, on the anniversary of the “baptism,” which he of course ecstatically accepted.

Bruce Wayne

Hannibal Flood met Bruce Wayne when he was 34 years old, as he had been hired to interview him by The Gotham Gazette. He took a liking to his trained, charming public persona but instinctively knew better. He went out of his way to get to know Bruce on a personal level, and as he slowly broke down the man’s walls- which were respectively high, considering Hannibal’s job -he found himself falling in love. He discussed the attraction with The Joker, who lightly agreed about the man’s looks, at least. The Joker told Hannibal he was fine with them attempting to court Bruce, but warned them not to let it interfere with their life as Amadán.

The two began dating when Hannibal turned 37, and within the next two years he had already read Bruce cover-to-cover like an angsty, angsty book.

December 24th, 1919 - Birth

Emilio Denise Falcone, born Bette O’Connor-Falcone, was born on December 24th, 1919, 4:06pm, to Gianni Falcone and Denise O’Connor, at the River’s Edge Private Hospital. Only their parents attended the birth, and soon after the fact, Denise was threatened with a swift death if she did not leave Gotham for good. It was impossible for her to bring baby Emilio with her, so he was to stay in the reluctant care of Gianni. Gianni did his best, but Carmine had warped his views about the child… at one time, he had been hopeful, as he truly loved Denise, but with her shunned from the family Emilio was only a bitter reminder of her absence.

Childhood

Emilio grew up well-furnished, if not emotionally neglected. He was expected to be quiet, pretty, and well-educated. He was homeschooled, in both standard school subjects and more mob-related ones such as self-defense and how to make pigs bend to your every will. His friends came in the form of the children of other un-blood-related mobsters, but he found it hard to socialize with them. Emilio’s escapes and passions were writing and the rare treat field trip to the theatre.

At the age of twelve, he came out to the main family as a transsexual, and within the next year he admitted to being attracted to men as well. While Carmine resented his existence before, this was enough of a reason to completely disown him as his grandson, though he did respect the pronoun and name changes.
