"I mean, it might." Nick teased with a grin. Ziggy Berman was an enigma. Everything about the redhead drew him in. She didn't swoon over him like the girls in Sunnyvale. She had her own mind. Smart, badass. She was like no one he had ever met before and from the first moment he'd seen her flipping Kurt the bird he had been enthralled. With everything, she was the one person he didn't want caught up in the massacre to come. "But honestly I just want to know more about you. You know, likes and dislikes beyond Camp Nightwing."

"Why wouldn't I show?" When you had a beautiful girl waiting on you, it didn't do well to keep her waiting. Something his dad always taught him before his passing. His dad always said that from the moment he'd met Nick and Will's mom that he'd been smitten and refused to keep her waiting or not uphold a promise. Nick was the same with Caroline. Nick had always been interested in her, from the moment that he'd been old enough to understand what a crush was, he'd been interested. Sure he was the King of Sunnyvale and everyone had always expected them to get together, but Nick hadn't been sure that Care would ever be interested in him like that. He was also admittedly a little worried about the things he was going to need to do and wasn't sure how Caroline would handle the legacy that came with the Goode name. He didn't want her to hate him, but at the same time he didn't want her to be in the dark and wanted to make sure she would be safe when the chain off events began. "I'd never leave you waiting on me Care."

                    when  was  the  last  time  she  felt  this  nervous  ?  –  right  before  the  miss  sunnyvale  town  pageant  back  in  March.   and  yet  ,  that  didn't  come  close  to  the  now.  she'd  promise  to  meet  him  down  by  the  lake  after  he  had  shown  her  how  to  shoot  at  the  target  correctly  at  the  archery  range.   how  long  had  she  been  crushing  on  him  ?  god  –  it  seemed  like  eternity  but  she  was  eleven  when  she  started  seeing  him  a  whole  different  light  .  growing  up  next  door   tended  to  do  that.  plus  ,  they  had  quite  a  lot  in  common.   and  their  parents  knew  each  other  very  well.  legacies.  that's  what  they  were.   hands  tucked  into  the  pockets  of  her  blue  jean  shorts  as  she  made  her  way  to  the  lake.  moonlight  causing  the  lake  to  glitter.  which  made  the  blonde  smile  to  herself.  but  the  sound  of  foot  steps  behind  her  caused  her  to  turn  around  quick  and  as  soon  as  she  saw  him  ,  she  smiled  softly.    ❝  for  a  moment  –  thought  you…weren't  going  to  show  .  ❞

"I mean, it wouldn't be a bad thing if you were jealous. That's all I'm saying." Nick pointed out. Because he was definitely the jealous type. He would never admit to her that the reason Tommy Slater was chosen as Nick's first Shadyside sacrifice instead of someone else was because of the way the male looked at Caroline despite having a girlfriend, the way he made Carolien smile, or laugh. The way she'd touch Slater's arm. Sure the males looks might have been innocent and purely platonic, but Nick still hadn't liked it. Whenever he saw Caroline laugh at something the Shadysider said, there was a deep visceral feeling of unbridled anger that he couldn't control fully. He knew there was nothing between them, Slater was dating the elder Berman; but Nick couldn't let it lie. So when it came time to putting a name on the stone, he changed his mind on who he was going to use, settling on Slater instead. "Cause I get a little jealous too sometimes."

“It’s not a bad thing, I do enjoy having all the extra responsibilities, it feels good to know my parents trust me, if that makes sense?” It was better getting used to responsibility before now, because the responsibilities that where expected of him at home, or at school, here at camp even, was nothing compared to the responsibility his father left him. How was he supposed to do that? Yet, he needed to, had too. It was part of the deal Solomon made. “Oh, you think it’s suiting huh?” He teased with a lopsided grin. Something about it from her lips just made him feel like he should be holding his chin up just a little higher. It felt special from her. “It’s probably just because my dad raised me to be able to walk in his footsteps. He was sheriff of Sunnyvale and Shadyside, a leadership and understanding is required for that.” He muttered with a modest shrug. But Queen definitely suited Caroline, beautiful, graceful and it hadn’t escaped his notice all the campers loved her, even the Shadisiders. “Oh I’m counting on it…” his grin was positively unashamed as he watched the flush over her cheeks. “Doesn’t practice make perfect?” But yeah he knew her mom was facing an uphill batter that the station, half the officers were lazy as shit due to the little crime numbers in Sunnyvale and most refused to step foot in Shadyside. “Yeah? That would be great honestly.” He really liked Sheriff Forbes and he was sure that if he was invited for dinner his mom would bake something for him to take as a thank you for all the new Sheriff’s hard work. He gave a wide smile as she agreed to the swimming. “Sounds great.” There was a quip on the tip of his tongue about mouth to mouth resuscitation if he got into trouble but he managed to keep it to himself for now. / @cahroline

" and she'd keep it because that's just who she was. not to mention , she cared for him . in several ways than just one . her smile softened as she stopped a few inches from him . " yeah , you know . . she tries. and judging by some of the stuff i've overheard , it's not been easy but she's been trying to make sure that things continue on and that she does the job justice. your dad was great at it . " caroline shrugged . " well , i'll have to see one night when she's off work , you can come have dinner or something with us . she'd enjoy that. she always did like you." she'd be completely dumb to not agree to go with him. he was perfect. and for the longest time now , she'd been crushing on him hard . his subtly looking her up and down though , didn't go unnoticed and she couldn't help but bite her lip. He'd come to visit her after she'd left the hospital. Nick felt like he owed her that, and well, he wanted too. He wanted to check in on her. He'd done everything he could that night to ensure her safety and those damned monsters tried to kill her anyways. He'd managed to get to her just in time to save her form the same fate as her sister. A fate her sister wasn't supposed to meet either but got too close to everything.

He'd thought that there was a chance given how he had told the cops that it was just another Shadysider gone mad that she would slap him, punch him, curse him out. Yet here she was, huddled in his arms breaking her heart. "Shh, it's okay Ziggy, just let it out."

"I know they're lying." he wasn't here to berate her. He wanted to help honestly. He'd been seeing Sheila and her friends at Ziggy more than once over the last couple of weeks. Ziggy had no reason to trust him, but he liked her. She wasn't like the other girls at the camp that were fixated on not breaking a nail, and she was willing to stand up for herself. "I'm just wanting to check if you're okay. and to tell you to ignore them." he'd speak to his brother about stopping Sheila from bothering Ziggy the next time he saw his brother without the posse.

King of Sunnyvale the Shadyside kids called him, but he was just trying to survive as much as they were.  He had a plan to fulfil this summer, his place in the family business. It was worrying, but he could do it. He knew he could.

"I wouldn't worry about the Shadysiders, if history has taught us anything, they only go after other Shadysiders. You're Sunnyvale." He felt a little guilty because he was going to have to set of the curse soon and Autumn was likely going to be terrified and he hated that thought, but he needed to renew the curse Solomon started now his father was dead.

"Okay but Nicky, you don't get it. You just get things handed to you like it's magic and I'm over here worried about the fucking witch and which Shadysider is gonna go crazy next." Just because she was a Sunnyvaler didn't mean she wasn't worried. Things always happened. Sure, that wasn't necessarily because she was a woman, but sometimes it sure felt like she was being looked over just because she had tits.

“Stalking you? No. Of course not, that wouldn’t be a good look on a son of a cop; and I plan to make chief one day. I am however heading in the same direction.” Nick told her, though he frowned a little. “You okay though? Has someone been following you?” as far as he was aware there was no curse in effect at the moment, so things should be safe enough.

He was sitting in the station, newspaper in hand. Shadyside curse strikes again. It was a curse, but not in the way people assumed. The idiots in both Shadyside and Sunnyvale thought the curse came from a witch, Sarah Fier. None but him and his brother knew the true origin and that’s the way it would need to stay. Ryan Torres was an unfortunate victim, but a necessary one. The curse couldn’t just take the bad Shadyside kids. It was supposed to look like they snapped. “Didn’t see you come in, how can I help you?” the Sheriff smiled as he lowered his paper.

Well, that would be a solid plan if he had a gun. But Nick knew that Tommy wouldn’t be coming this way, at least for a while.  He’d be trolling through the Shadysider side of Camp Nightwing as they spoke. “I don’t have a gun Elise, and neither do you. You can’t go out there. It isn’t safe. Trust me, my dad was Sheriff of Sunnyvale and Shadyside. IN these situations is best to find a place to barricade in and wait for help.” It wouldn’t do well to have Elise trail around the camp while the curse as enacted.

"Well yeah what happened was a tragedy. I don't think your brother was a bad guy though." He couldn't think that Tommy was a bad guy, not when it was his own doing that caused what happened in the first place. Nick wasn't sure what actually spurred him to come and check on the Slater family. Guilt maybe? He also wanted to check on Ziggy, but she didn't want to see him. "If you're looking for work, I can ask around a few places in Sunnyvale for you? It might not be the most fun jobs and the pay might not be that great, but I know a few construction and landscaping places that are hiring at the moment?"

Billy rolled his eyes. "You really came all this way into Shadyside to ask me how I'm holding up? How do you think Nick? This whole fucking town thinks my brother is a murderer and my mom how been drowning herself in a bottle ever since." He shrugged. "Also I got fired from my job too. So now I have to figure out how to make money so I can keep the heat on when winter comes."

“Have you considered talking to Ziggy Berman?” Ziggy wasn’t talking to him, so he figured if she would talk to anyone it would be the sibling of her sister’s boyfriend right? Trauma bonding. He’d heard the term a lot since the massacre at Camp nightwing. While there was a part of him that was feeling extremely guilty, there was no denying the benefits that were beginning to befalls Sunnydale, which was overriding his guilt more and more each day. His only regret was Ziggy, her getting hurt and her sister. He’d hoped the pair would escape. / @tragicsongs
