Odysseus takes in breath after breath of stale city air. Even this high up with the constant breeze, he can still smell the lingering scent of cigarettes that hovers around Diomedes, and the packed and condensed smell of people and concrete buildings and the way rain smells when it’s a day or two behind but clings to brick, to stone, to trees and leaves, an echo of freshness behind the faint hint of decay.

He leans against the half wall, looking down at the lights of the evening. The sky is like spilled ink. Not a single star breaks through the invisible dome of light pollution.

“Thought I was going to die in there,” Diomedes says beside him, his cigarette slowly smoking in between his fingers.

“I’m glad that was so amusing to you,” Odysseus says.

“Come on, it was funny.” Diomedes nudges him with a massive shoulder. “It was. Achilles hitting Agamemnon was funny.”

“I think he got some blood on my shirt.”

i just need to get something off my chest bc it bothers me so much! i love and adore sirius and remus equally with my whole heart, but i hate how in fics sirius is ALWAYS the bad guy (not in yours, i've only read dusk and it was lovely!) but like other writers always excuse remus' mistakes and judge sirius like he's a bad person and i'm so happy every time i read a fic where remus is the one who makes mistakes that need time and effort to be forgiven bc even in AUs sirius is always the one breaking remus' heart and i hate it sm😭

You're not wrong, anon! I could theorize why this is, but I'm not completely sure. I guess stemming back to the prank? Or maybe people see Sirius as out of Remus's league, and that leads to Remus not being able to screw up without losing Sirius. Which, really, boils down to problematic relationships, imo. I don't know. interesting question.

I do prefer more balanced relationships in my fics--I just finished WWDTGB, and both of them take turns apologizing for different things. Far more of mine are less about one of them screwing up, and more about them finding each other, like Give Me a Sign, Summer Boys, Under the Right Moon. Lonely (but not alone) is a collab with @aqua-myosotis, and I'd say that falls more in the spectrum of Remus screwing up than Sirius.

However, you sound like you need some fic recs? 😘

The first that comes to mind is @mollymarymarie. My favorite fic of hers is The Road Not Taken, and this is absolutely a "Remus fucked up and owes Sirius an apology" fic. Bird Set Free is still being posted, but I think it's headed that way as well.

I also recommend reading anything that @impishtubist writes. Imp is solidly in the camp of Sirius can do no wrong and Remus is lucky to get the time of day from him (no, really, I have receipts of her saying this, but it's probably just openly on her page if you scroll a bit.) She's a fantastic writer, and I think you'd really enjoy her work.

(It's late and I want to finish this and slip off to bed, so I'm shortcutting this response. I could pick out individual recs for all the rest of these people, but read anything and everything they write.)
