Sorry if this is worded weirdly i keep. rewriting this but oooh it hurts sometimes feeling like not even 💻's creator cares about him nearly as much as i do. To have my world just be the third wheel of the plot, not even a fucking speck of merchandise (despite THEM getting even more recognition bbbut im bitter about fandom bias to them in general considering how 💻 was treated because of them), i keep circling around the parts of the story about him and every line of dialog written knowing in the back of my mind no one else really thinks about him like that and it drives me insane. To have such a smart, fascinating, complex man like him just be treated like an afterthought by the fandom, knowing despite being a 'main' character he's really a more plot active side one, it feels so bitter and mean to say it but it reallly feels like im the only one who really gets him. Not even considering just a little how much it all hurts for him, his little mannerisms and quirks, how he tries so hard to be brave and do the right thing... Its like having the most beautiful painting and the camera keeps moving to something else just before you can really seep it in.

Thank for for letting me just kind of. explode all that out in here, i feel a bit better now about it. I just wish everyone else could recognize how beautiful he is, feel even just a speck of that pure overwhelming obsession i have.. He's so beautiful i wish i could manage my energy a little better so i could dedicate tens if not hundreds of drawings, paintings, whatever just all to him. I know its likely some form of obsession, but i cant help it. I want to know everything about him even if no one else does. - 🖨️ (if thats ok to claim) (also if anyone is readin this and worries its about their f/o dont worry, it is like a 99.99% chance its not yours because again, besides a few people on this site, no one has talked about him at all.)

Hello! I have some questions about a character of mine. She broke her legs during combat and they never set properly. While she uses a wheelchair most of the time to compensate for that and other injuries, she does try to use custom made crutches. My questions are in regard to how to handle her internal conflict between replacing the parts of her body causing issues (this is a Sci fi setting) and making sure that what happened can never be waved away as one of the many bad dreams she has. Another question is what is the fastest way to move and/or store and use weapons? And lastly, how would her disability affect the romantic/sexual relationship she develops during the story?

Thank you for your ask! Please note we don’t have any amputee mods, so I’m speaking from research and living with metal implants.

Honestly I never understood the whole ‘replacing body parts with machinery so they’re better’ story, in real life the leg would be surgically re broken and corrected, maybe adding metal to help the healing at most [and she would still have chronic pain afterwards, maybe less but I’d doubt it would be gone entirely]. If she needed an amputation way after the initial injury it would likely be because of an infection leading to necrosis. Recovering from a big surgery such as an amputation is a long, tolling process that takes an incredibly long time to recover from, it really doesn’t make sense for someone to do it to mitigate walking difficulties and pain, especially when a leg amputation can cause those same symptoms. Amputation can cause tenderness, muscle weakness, phantom limb pain, pain in the residual limb, and that’s if there are no serious complications after surgery.

Basically your character realistically wouldn’t be able to ‘wave away’ what happened to her, I’ve never seen a surgery or major injury recover with zero lasting effects. Even if she finds a way to mitigate it, it’ll be present through her life.

If you do end up having your character be an amputee I’d recommend looking more specifically into why she would need an amputation and how that would affect her. Also looking into prosthetics would be good, as no prosthesis is a perfect replacement. Also she would probably still use her other mobility aids, especially on the beginning when she’s getting use to the prosthetic, not to mention some amputees forgo having a prosthetic for various reasons including cost, comfort, difficulty of use and more. Here’s a post on writing futuristic prosthetics without being too unrealistic.

For weapon storage I’d look into bags for wheelchairs and crutches. Whole crutches can only really have a small bag hanging off the side, a wheelchair can have bags on the back, sides, leg strap, underside and even the frame! Her ability to get to these bags quickly would depend on practice and whether or not she has any other mobility issues.

As for the relationship being affected, here’s a great post from Sasza! Besides physical accommodations and being more mindful about her leg, the relationship shouldn’t be too different than writing on between abled bodied people.

Ambivalent. Because when they are honest and cut and dry about certain topics, or fandoms etc I can make a decision if I fall into it or not... usually I don't follow people with DNI lists, because they are too vague and then I wonder that if I write with a multimuse that has muses in fandom xyz, but I don't write with those muses it still breaks the DNI etc.

Long list about people? No. Like... I saw ONE exception where it makes sense and it isn't in bad blood. But usually it feels like trying to manipulate others into shunning another person. Simply don't follow people you don't like? Or who interact with people you don't like? Not... that hard...

It's just so stupid it is laughable. I am sorry like... idk... I can't even imagine a person so low that they send anon hate. And if I do try to imagine them I can not take them seriously.

Ridiculous. 95% of the time. I mean, one saved me from an actual abusive stalker, who sent me an ask and someone warned me, and I then found out some really bad stuff. Or oh, receipts that are like 6 years old... and the person is clearly changed, or already apologized etc. Like... why bringing it up again??

I don't really feel it's my place to comment on someone's DNI lists - people are trying to curate their space and I can respect simply not wanting someone in your orbit, whether due to past issues or drama. You're within your right to curate your space and block if you need to. If I see that a DNI list happens to include a follower or a friend, I just respect their wishes and unfollow.

For the anon asking about sex toys, I agree going to a store is probably the best way to go, if for nothing else to see the actual size and shape of what you're looking for since it's your first. Plus like you said the people that work in sex shops are usually pretty nice, and definitely helpful. Any time I've gone into one they go above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable shopping, like it's any other store. So it's really not as intimidating as one might think.

That's kinda hard to describe because attraction is complicated, but I'll try.

For me, when I'm experiencing platonic attraction to an object, I don't feel the same desire to kiss and handle the object in the same way I do when I'm experiencing romantic attraction to an object.

When I'm experiencing romantic attraction, I want to caress the object and kiss it, and go on dates with it, and just love it. When it's platonic, I want to spend time with it and do things you wanna do with friends like talk about random bullshit that leads nowhere

I know it probably didn't help much, but I hope I could help a little bit, I'm bad at examining things tho, sorry ^^;
