XR's eyes look like Lego pieces stuck to the sides of his head. /hj THAT BEING SAID, they can act as flashlights and are very expressive! They can squash and stretch like cartoon eyes and the lights will even turn off to mimic closed eyes! They’re a big part of his charm, I think; windows to the soul and all that.

Ok here we have the real deal everyone, Ghiaccio is a BIG eurovision fan and maybe the only one who truly cared about the winner.

He blasted Finland's song while racing with his red Mazda through Napoli yelling " CHA CHA CHA D*IOCANEEEEEEEE!!"

He was even ready to bet about Finland's victory and when he heard the final results...chaos: broken chairs, smashed bottles, angry phone calls to vent about it!!

He even planned to invade Sweden to avenge his green jacket pal, but in the end he'll just curse blasphemies for a week and change the radio station whenever the winning song is put on.

Formaggio 🧀:

You see this? This is the level of support Formaggio had for Croatia. Lil cheese man went in every single bar of Napoli to teach their song and even tried to organise a rave party with a " Tractors " theme!! He felt utterly outraged when he saw the level of " disrespect " ( in his mind of course ) shown to his favourite eurovision's group and now is planning to go to a concert while riding an actual tractor. Is he exaggerated? Yes. Do we love him for this? ABSOLUTELY!!

Pesci 🐟:

This guy drink his " respect women juice " ever since he was a lil kid. His mamma and nonna raised him good, so his goal for eurovision was to support all the women that walked on the stage! He tried to stay neutral and show them all the appreciation they deserved, but 2 of them stole his heart: Lithuania and Portugal. He was so moved bu their songs that tears run down on his face during the performances, in that moment he didn't even cared being the laughing stock and called " una femminuccia ", he just wanted to enjoy those beautiful voices and he did!! He was also really happy about sweden's victory, in the end another great artist was cherished in the difficult music industry.

hm... perhaps the album Castor, the Twin by Dessa? Dessa, as an artist, is just so interesting to me because she was a not-insignificant part of my introduction to, i dunno how to say it, the mechanics of desire? or, the idea that there's, like, science and readings to be done on love and how people understand / perform it? like she has this ted talk where she discusses, like, training her brain to not be in love with someone anymore (linked here because she's truly a fantastic presenter)! watching it in high school made it click for me that oh, i'm Very interested in this! and not just that i was interested, but that was-- something i could read about?

dessa's (earlier) music is also very often about this weird love affair at the center of her life, so it strikes me as a fun starting point for investigating the ways we talk about love in general? i suspect this thought is a bit vague for a term paper, but it's something i'm into and there are other directions i could take with the album too (e.g. something about the minnesota music / rap scene and dessa's own life history??) and i'm realizing i have. maybe slightly misunderstood the spirit of the question. but i'm leaving this because i think it's a very characteristic response for me to give :P

Opened Can of WellCheers - What kind of beverages do you and your f/o like to share?

I’m not much of a drink person, unfortunately.  The most adventurous drink I like is, apple juice HGFDGHYHGF.  Herlock over here with some special sparkling water from another country and I’m just sipping from an apple juice box.

The Heart of Aspiration - When did you realise you were in love with your f/o? When did they realise they were in love with you?

On god, this man.  I think I heard about him eating soap before I played the game and I knew my ass was NOT gonna survive if I ever did play it.  And then I finally picked up the game, and it was.  On sight pretty much.  He has NO right being as pretty as he is.

Ooooo, but the reverse is interesting.  For all the intelligence Sholmes has… feelings aren’t one of them really (either of others [smh] or his own).  I think he would eventually learn that he had deeper feelings the only way a great detective knows how: making a lot of notes and making a case out of it (a secret case of course).  Man’s a mess.

Apocalypse Bird - What are three activities you and your f/o enjoy doing together?

Working on cases!  You might think that’s boring, but check out any of the Dances of Deduction.  They slap so hard.  Besides, nothing is boring when Herlock is involved.

Reading together in the suite.  Just vibing.

Doing whatever, I’m doing.  Herlock likes to be involved in things (whether he’s wanted there or not), and if he’s not being paid attention to, he will MAKE you pay attention to him (i.e. mainly just, trying to draw at least one person’s attention by calling out to them or getting in their face).  So if I’m “being distracted by something”, the best solution is to join in!  Which works out very well for both of us.

I've mentioned it here before, but in my personal headcanons, stats, levels, and other such number-crunching mechanics are competitive battling jargon. Sclera tends to think of and describe Pokémon-related concepts in relation to these ideas of measuring things in numbers more often than not, and if asked, states that numbers just make sense to them as a way to describe things. This is not a lie, but not necessarily the whole truth.

A Tiny Q&A With Phillipe Bosher - Mycroft Holmes

On the last day of August, I started an impromptu Q&A with Phillipe Bosher - the voice of Mycroft Holmes in Sherlock Holmes Chapter One - on the Frogwares Discord server. It was spontaneous and fun, lots of other people joined in - a big thank-you goes to Phillipe for answering all of the burning questions and giving permission to post the chat log publicly.

Nah, I understand of course, if you can't answer for whatever the reason, it's alright. So, silly question #1:

Fav Mycroft line in SHCO?

pabosher: Ooooh - I don’t know! “It’s my house, actually!” is a line I do love, but also I love the break of the facade in “I saved my brother, he will never forgive me.” (I forget the exact wording). I love the whole writing of the final scene in the garden, it’s such a beautifully written bit, and I love the variations based on your choices!

Xiney: That line was really well delivered ! Like there was this tinge of sadness at the never forgive me part that sounded really heartbreaking

Tiny: That was my first ending and that line stayed with me as well!

(I know we meme the "my house" line a lot lol, but I love it because these two super smart men throw all logic out the window and it's just two siblings bickering for a few moments... it makes it super fun!)

Silly question #2: When you see Alex irl, how do you tell him "No shit, Sherlock"? If not, why?

pabosher: Hahaha good question pabosher: Haha! I’m really glad that came across in your hearing of it - I definitely felt that in the script, so really wanted it to sound petty and brotherly pabosher: In recording booths it can be really useful to get the physicality of the character in place, to help the lines pabosher: So for most of the session I stood very straight with my hands behind my back pabosher: And at that moment I completely broke that and it felt great haha

Tiny: The animation economy with Mycroft 😩👌

pabosher: And when I see Alex, we mostly talk about things other than Sherlock!! One day he’ll say something obvious and I’ll DEFINITELY throw him a “no shit, Sherlock” line, but we talk about workouts and other video games, so SO FAR it hasn’t come up yet pabosher: But one day…

Tiny: If he groans and gives you the look, you have my permission to show him this conversation and blame it on Tiny 👍

Tiny: Ok one more, it's more serious but I'm very curious! This is speaking just in general with voice acting - but do the casting directors (or whoever D: ) require you to be able to pronounce foreign words/sounds? I'm not sure if I'm phrasing this correctly, so please bear with me, lol.

having a heart attack after hearing Watson (from one of the older games) pronounce the most flawless ć I have ever heard, and Sherlock was pretty close as well.

Err, I guess I'm asking if it's something that people care about at all.

Or how is it for you to be asked to pronounce sounds you may not be even able to hear, if that ever happened? (I don't recall anything like that in the Mycroft role specifically, so this is just generally speaking)

Tiny: (That's a bit messy, sorry, I'm struggling with phrasing my question :V)

pabosher: That’s a bigger question and one I think I’ll only be able to answer with regards to VA in general, nothing to do with Frogwares - But generally, pronunciations are something that’s locked early in a game. So if it’s a character name, the first person to say it is told by the director or studio how to say it, and then every other actor in the game will be played a voice file of that pronunciation to help keep things in check. Sometimes it’s missed, but that’s usually what people want to know pabosher: And yeah, to answer your question, we do care! A lot pabosher: Our whole job is language and pronunciation and speech pabosher: For me personally, I grew up speaking multiple languages so I have a few more sounds in my bank than the usual English person pabosher: It can be very difficult sometimes for me - if there’s a word that I know from a different language, and I’m used to pronouncing it with that accent and in that tongue, then trying to anglicise it, as if were, can be tough pabosher: But that’s why you have amazing developers, directors, writers, producers, editors who can be a part of the process and can catch you when you slip

Tiny: Thank you, yeah it's a general VA question I've been curious about - your role as Mycroft didn't include any words/lines that would fit what I was asking, so 🤔 but hearing pronunciations in other FW games made me think about it, because they got it right so well. Tiny: What languages do you speak?

pabosher: Russian and English, and a very small smattering of the Romance languages

I like the mystery!! I was bitten by a dog when I was younger, and had 37 stitches in my upper lip. How Mycroft got his? 👀

pabosher: You did for sure! pabosher: Unfortunately Mycroft isn’t in many of the cases in CO - but obviously he’s an important part of the main storyline, so I think my favourite scene in that game for me as an actor either has to be the scene with the doctor (I’m trying to be vague in case of spoilers!) as I loved the opportunity to show how much Mycroft cares about Sherlock, especially in their younger years, and again, that final scene just breaks my heart pabosher: So it’s got to be either of those 🙂 pabosher: And I’ve only been in Chapter One! Other non-SH games I’ve been a part of have been very fun but aren’t released yet, so I can’t talk about them!

🔎 investigating

He's got that perfect mix of observant and clever you need to be a master investigator. There's good reason his technical role in the Grey Warden hierarchy is scout (before being made commander that is. I've modified the timeline to give him just enough time before Ostagar for that role to get firmly established). It's very difficult to get any lie or scam past him. There's only enough room for one chronic liar in this town and whatnot

The protagonist instinct of "at least consider taking everything not nailed down and some things that are" is also very productive towards this end

🚗 driving

Because of the setting, it's hard to give a single direct answer, but that just gives me an excuse to talk about my boy more! The short answer is don't let him deceive you about that (and you Know he will. I'm pretty sure you've seen the comics or at least enough of the wips to piece that together)

So if we're talking driving in the sense of carts and wagons, he's never really tried, so it'd probably be a bit of a mess to watch. He's never had to man anything bigger than the rare wheelbarrow prior to the Blight, and after he's become a Warden, there's always been someone else like Bodahn whose job it is to man the wagon if they have one. He could learn, sure, but he just never has

If we think of it in the sense of riding an animal, plain terrible. He finds pack mules and donkeys cute, but he makes sure to keep his distance from the horses. They can be a bit frightening. People have joked to him a couple times about trying to ride the mabari instead, but the dog shuts it down everytime. It's indignifying

Learning to ride a horse is probably on the seneschal's list of "Things to teach the commander", but Novhen has proven very resistant to the idea

And for a modern au Novhen, he just straight up can't drive. You put him in a car, and he won't know the gas pedal from the break. He's a poor kid from the city, he gets by just fine on public transportation please and thank you

💃 dancing

He's a competent dancer, but he can be bashful about it. There are caveats that he only knows elven dances and isn't good at improvised dance. While he is probably going to have to learn new steps for the human courts (another bullet on the seneschal's list), what he already has is plenty sufficient for any celebratory nights at the party camp

When it comes to ordinary things, like who ate his favourite pie or who’s responsible for sending the last assassin after him, it’s solid 4 - he has people who can investigate that for him. 

Though it’s 10 when it comes to research he’s really invested in. He’s ready to move earth and Void to dig out the answer by himself.

📥 organization

It’s 9 when it comes to his personal belongings, 7 when it comes to work responsibilities and 5 when it’s people he has to manage. Again, he’d put someone to work with people instead of him, because he can give them the bigger tasks but won’t have the patience with micro-managing obstacles of others. He was there, done that, and doesn't want to do it again. All he wants is people who are competent in what they do and do what he tells them to do.

🎭 performance art/acting

He learnt how to make up a front during his life in the Circle, so his usual skill at masking what he really thinks and wants is around 7. Vergil keeps his guard up around strangers and often comes off as aloof, though it changes when he’s the one that wants something from someone - then he puts on a charm, after learning what makes the person tick. He’s not above using his looks and flexing a skill if it helps.

Though he can’t act being helpless or pretend to be scared, so this kind of performance is around 2.
