꩜ .ᐟ christmas’ warmth

when christmas doesn’t feel like christmas, but nishimura riki exists.
Tumblr media
It was Christmas again. Time had flown by so fast that with just one blink, it was already the season where families gather to celebrate and enjoy each other's company.
Christmas was supposed to be fun, right? But this year, it didn't feel like Christmas at all. And that made you sad, especially since Christmas was your favorite time of the year.
You sighed as you stared at the dining table. You’d prepared all the food, thinking your family would be there to enjoy it with you. But plans had changed.
Your parents were called into the hospital for a sudden emergency, and your older siblings couldn’t make it home because of college. You honestly hated being the youngest sometimes.
The coldness outside matched the emptiness you were feeling. The winter chill wasn’t just in the air—it was in your heart.
"I guess I’ll just watch a movie and eat the food," you muttered to yourself, trying to sound upbeat. You didn’t want your Christmas to be gloomy, but it was hard to shake the feeling.
You had just settled onto the couch with your food when your phone rang. You glanced at the screen and saw Riki’s name. A smile immediately spread across your face as you answered.
“Hey, Ri! Merry Christmas!” you greeted, your voice brighter than you felt.
“Merry Christmas, baby,” Riki’s voice came through the phone, warm and familiar.
“So, how’s your Christmas going?” you asked, as you flopped back onto the couch with a small sigh.
“Doing fine. How about you?” Riki’s tone shifted slightly, sensing the difference in your voice.
You hesitated before replying. “Yeah, everything’s okay. It’s just
my family’s not here, so I’m spending Christmas Eve alone. But it’s fine, nothing to worry about,” you said, trying to brush it off with a laugh.
But Riki wasn’t fooled. “Everything’s really okay?” he asked, concern lacing his voice. He knew how much Christmas meant to you.
You smiled softly. “Yeah, really. It’s just a bit
 lonely, I guess.”
There was a pause on the other end, and then you heard a soft shuffle, like footsteps in the snow.
“Actually
” Riki’s voice sounded closer now, “I’m in front of your house right now.”
Your heart skipped a beat, and your eyes widened. You immediately jumped up and rushed to the door, throwing it open. There he was, standing in front of you, snowflakes dusting his dark hair and shoulders.
“Hi,” Riki waved, his breath visible in the cold air.
You blinked in surprise, lowering the phone from your ear as you pulled him inside. “What are you doing here?”
“I figured your family might be busy, so I rushed over,” Riki explained, smiling as he shook the snow off his coat. His hands gently found their way to your waist, pulling you closer.
“But
what about your family? Your friends?” you asked, feeling a little guilty. You didn’t want him to skip his own celebrations just for you.
Riki chuckled softly, his breath warm against your skin. “There’s always tomorrow, you know? Besides, let me prioritize you tonight, alright? And don’t worry, they know I’m here.” He smiled reassuringly, before adding, “Now, let’s enjoy Christmas Eve together, yeah?”
You couldn’t help but smile back. “Alright, that sounds perfect. But I hope you’re hungry—because I made way too much food.”
“Now you’re speaking my language,” Riki teased with a playful grin, making you laugh as you led him to the table.
The night passed quickly, filled with laughter, jokes, and spent the rest of the time by a Christmas movie marathon.
At some point, you checked the time and realized it was already past midnight—Christmas Day had arrived. You couldn’t stop smiling as you felt Riki’s arms wrap around you from behind. His chin rested on your shoulder, his voice a soft murmur in your ear.
“Merry Christmas, baby,” he whispered, his breath warm against your skin.
“Merry Christmas, Ri,” you replied, your heart swelling with affection. You turned in his arms, cupping his cheeks gently in your hands.
“Thank you,” you said, your voice soft and full of gratitude. “Thank you for making my Christmas special.”
Riki’s smile grew tender, and without another word, he leaned in, his lips brushing softly against yours. The kiss was slow, warm, and comforting, as if the chill of Christmas had been completely washed away by the warmth between you two.
“Anytime.”
With Riki by your side, Christmas finally felt like Christmas again.

wherein its your anniversary with sunghoon, and he takes you on a special date to the beach.
Tumblr media
the sun was shining brightly as you leaned against the car window, letting the breeze caress your face. the warm rays kissed your skin, making you close your eyes in contentment. the hum of the car engine and the fresh scent of the ocean in the distance added to the tranquil atmosphere.
beside you, sunghoon drove with one hand on the wheel and the other resting on your lap. every so often, he glanced at you, his lips tugging into a soft smile as if seeing you like this made his whole day brighter.
“we’re almost there,” he said casually, but the glimmer in his eyes gave away his excitement.
you opened your eyes, and as soon as you spotted the sparkling blue of the ocean ahead, you gasped softly. “the beach?” you asked, turning to him with wide, excited eyes.
he grinned, dimple showing. “you caught me. thought I’d surprise you for our anniversary.”
you couldn’t hold back your excitement any longer. the moment the car stopped, you kicked off your sandals and ran toward the beach, the sand cool and soft beneath your feet. the salty breeze filled your lungs as you twirled around, arms stretched out, feeling free and alive.
when you turned around, sunghoon was still by the car, leaning against the door with his hands in his pockets. he looked effortlessly handsome in his casual white button-up and rolled-up sleeves, the sea breeze ruffling his hair.
he was watching you, his gaze soft but intense, like he was memorizing the way you looked in that moment.
“c’mon, hoon! what are you waiting for? enjoy the breeze with me,” you called out, waving him over.
he smirked, finally pushing himself off the car and walking toward you with that effortless grace he always had. when he reached you, he didn’t say a word; instead, he lifted you off the ground, spinning you around as your laughter echoed through the air.
“put me down!” you squealed, but your smile betrayed your protest.
he raised a brow, the corner of his lips curling mischievously. “hmm
no, i think i like holding you like this.”
“sunghoon,” you said in warning, but the glint in his eyes told you he had no intention of listening.
before you could say another word, he started walking toward the water. “hoon, no! don’t you dare!” you shrieked, wriggling in his arms.
“don’t what? i’m just taking you for a little swim,” he teased, stepping into the cool waves.
“hoon, i swear—”
and then it happened. both of you toppled into the water with a splash, the coldness making you gasp. when you surfaced, you saw sunghoon laughing, his smile as bright as the sun reflecting off the waves.
“you’re so dead, park sunghoon!” you yelled, splashing him with water.
he gasped dramatically, pretending to be offended. “oh, so that’s how it’s gonna be?”
with that, a playful water fight broke out. your laughter mixed with his as the two of you splashed and dodged each other, completely carefree. it was moments like this—where the world faded, and it was just the two of you—that you cherished most.
by the time the sun began to set, the beach was painted in hues of gold and pink. you sat together on a large picnic blanket spread across the sand, wrapped in a soft, oversized throw to keep the cool evening breeze at bay.
sunghoon had set up a small wooden tray filled with your favorite snacks and drinks, the thoughtful gesture making your heart melt.
you leaned back on your hands, watching the waves gently roll onto the shore. the fading sunlight bathed everything in a warm glow, including sunghoon, who sat beside you with his arm resting casually behind you.
you caught him staring at you, his expression soft and full of something unspoken. “what?” you asked, feeling shy under his gaze.
“you’re just
” he paused, his voice lowering. “so beautiful.”
your cheeks warmed, and you quickly looked away, hugging your knees to your chest. “stop it,” you mumbled, but the smile on your lips gave you away.
he chuckled, scooting closer until you felt his warmth against your side. gently, he tugged you toward him, letting your head rest on his shoulder. you could feel his steady heartbeat as the two of you watched the sun dip below the horizon.
“happy anniversary, love,” he murmured, his voice tender. “to more moments like this. just us.”
you glanced up at him, your heart swelling with affection. leaning up, you pressed a soft kiss to his jawline, earning a smile from him. “happy anniversary, hoon. i wouldn’t trade this for anything.”
he turned his head slightly, brushing a stray strand of hair from your face. his thumb lingered on your cheek for a moment before he leaned down to kiss your forehead. “neither would i.”
as the stars began to twinkle in the sky, you stayed wrapped up in each other, surrounded by the soothing sound of waves and the comfort of knowing you were right where you belonged—with him.

— ✼⋆˙ slytherin!jay x hufflepuff!reader ✼⋆˙ fluff, harry potter au ✼⋆˙ 0.9k wc ✼⋆˙ grammar errors
wherein they thought jay was just like every other slytherin, but he wasn’t.
Tumblr media
people always whispered about slytherin. it was the house of ambition, cunning, and—unfortunately—reputation. words like “trouble” and “arrogance” clung to its name, and most students believed the stereotypes. you weren’t sure what to think of it yourself, but you believed in giving people a chance.
and then there was park jeongsong—or jay, as most people called him.
you admitted he had the face of someone who might snap easily. and, well, maybe that part was true. but the more you observed him, the more you noticed he wasn’t like the others. he’d sit quietly with his friends, barely speaking unless spoken to, and honestly didn’t seem to care much about anyone else’s business.
he was intriguing, to say the least.
“wait, are you serious?” jake asked, stopping mid-step as you walked through the castle corridors.
“yes, i’m serious,” you replied with a soft laugh. “what’s so surprising about that?”
“because you’re curious about jay,” jake said, giving you a look of disbelief. “like, park jeongsong jay?”
you frowned slightly. “yeah, why? isn’t he your friend?”
jake shrugged, his grin teasing. “i mean, i guess. i consider everyone friends, lowkey. but jay’s... different. just be careful around him.”
“is this because he’s a slytherin?” you asked, crossing your arms.
“maybe,” jake said, his grin widening mischievously. “or maybe it’s just me being a good friend and looking out for you.”
you rolled your eyes but couldn’t help the small smile tugging at your lips. “noted, jake. thanks. anyway, what class do you have next?”
“potions.”
“oh, good luck,” you said with a sympathetic smile. “heard professor snape’s in one of his moods today.”
“great. can’t wait,” jake muttered, waving you off.
the charms classroom was already filled with sunlight when you arrived. taking your usual seat near the back, you pulled out your supplies and tried to push the conversation with jake out of your mind. but when jay walked in, it was impossible not to notice him.
he moved with quiet confidence, his expression unreadable as he took a seat with the other slytherins. he didn’t bother looking around the room, but when his eyes almost met yours, you quickly averted your gaze, pretending to adjust your quill.
professor flitwick’s cheerful energy soon filled the room, making it easy to focus—until he announced a paired activity.
your usual partner wasn’t there today, and everyone else had already grouped up. just as you were about to start the task alone, the chair beside you shifted.
“wanna be partners?”
you looked up, startled to see jay standing there. his voice was calm, his expression neutral, but his lips curved into a faint, polite smile.
“oh, umïżœïżœyes, of course,” you replied quickly, smiling back.
working with jay was unexpectedly pleasant. his presence, though intimidating at first, became comforting as you worked together.
you found yourself surprised by how easy it was to talk to him. jay wasn’t just helping you; he was actually engaging in conversation, correcting your wand movements gently and offering tips in a way that made you feel comfortable
“you’re getting it,” he said, nodding slightly as you performed the spell successfully. “just keep your wrist steady like that.”
“thanks,” you said, glancing at him with a small smile.
but the moment was shattered by whispers from behind you.
“why is jay partnering with a hufflepuff?”
“isn’t she a half-blood?”
“ugh, filthy—”
jay’s gaze snapped to the group, his voice cutting through the whispers like a blade. “excuse me,” he said coolly, his tone polite but firm. “if you have something to say, perhaps you should keep it to yourself. your voices are distracting.”
the slytherins fell silent under his piercing stare, and when he turned back to you, his expression softened again.
“sorry about that,” he said quietly. “let’s focus on the next spell.”
you nodded, your heart fluttering slightly. “thank you. i appreciate it.”
jay smiled faintly. “they were being jerks anyway,” he muttered, leaning back slightly. “it’s honestly embarrassing how much they care about things that don’t matter.”
you laughed softly. “i guess i didn’t expect you to defend me. i mean, you’re slytherin, and i’m...” jay raised an eyebrow, his lips tugging up slightly. “what? a hufflepuff? a half-blood? do i seem like the type to care about that?”
you blinked, momentarily taken aback. “no... but i guess i didn’t expect you to be so—gentle.”
jay leaned back in his chair, his eyes glinting with amusement. “gentle? that’s a new one.”
the two of you finished the activity in sync, earning praise from professor flitwick and points for both your houses. as the class ended, you packed up your things and walked out together.
“thanks for partnering with me,” you said as you turned to face him. “it was surprisingly fun.”
jay smirked, his hands slipping into his pockets. “surprising, huh?”
“a little,” you admitted with a laugh.
just as you were about to turn away, jay called your name. when you glanced back, he was leaning casually against the doorframe, a playful smirk on his lips.
“so,” he said, his tone casual but curious, “did i change your perspective on slytherins?”
you smiled, tilting your head slightly. “yeah, you did. and i’m glad to know there’s still someone like you in slytherin.”
jay watched you walk away, shaking his head with a soft laugh. “a hufflepuff who’s this straightforward... ridiculous,” he muttered to himself, a small smile lingering on his lips as he headed down the hall.
