���i hate bandits,” i grumble, dropping my satchel to the ground and stumbling to sit at the edge of a pond. i get up close to the water, staring down at my reflection and making a face.

we were lucky enough to avoid any injuries, but my hair met the wrong end of one of the bandits’ blades. the caramel-colored ends that once reached the bottom of my ribcage now only sweep the tops of my shoulders.

“it doesn’t look bad, right?” i ask, turning back to kirishima and bakugou behind me with a pleading lilt to my voice.

kirishima beams. “nah, not at all! i actually think it really suits you.”

i let out a nervous laugh. “thanks, eiji. i can always count on you to uplift me.”

i cast a sidelong glance at bakugou, who’s standing with his arms crossed, glowering.

“what?” he snaps.

“you’re scowling at me.”

“tch. am not! it’s just hair, who gives a shit?”

“i do! i’ve had it long since i was a little girl! the druids used to sit and braid flowers into it.” the fond memories bring a pout to my lips. i send him a cutting glance through my peripheral. “‘sides, it’s not like you really don’t care about your hair. you’re still not over that cowlick kirishima gave you when he was in his dragon form.”

“that’s ’cause his damn dragon spit doesn’t wash out!” he yells and i snicker.

i fluff the ends some more, turning my head to different angles as i stare into the water.

“y’know, it’s kinda cute! definitely easier for battle.”

“exactly!” eijirou agrees cheerfully. “now you can slay on two fronts!”

kirishima and i burst into simultaneous laughter while bakugou glares at us, already gathering his things.

he scoffs. “pack your shit and let’s get moving, yeah? we’ve got a lot of ground to cover.”

“aye-aye!” “you got it, my prince.”
