Back into the sitting room, fleeing like a hare from hounds, but Rush is here trying to grab you. You careen to the door to the private promenade deck and dive out into the bitter starlit cold, your breath fog, your shoes slipping on the yellow pine planks that overlay the steel skeleton of the ship, weight that could drag you down to the ocean floor. Rush is in pursuit; he swipes at your arm and gets ahold of your coat sleeve, soft pink wool. You wrench yourself free, twisting out of the coat and dropping your handbag, colliding with the barrier, Tudor-style timber paneling beneath vast windows the frigid night air pours in through. Your hip bruises against the wood, you can hear black waves crashing below; then you collapse to the deck, your spine pressed to the wall, trying to back away when there’s nowhere left to run to. You realize you are still clutching Aegon’s small aluminum lighter and shove it beneath the skirt of your gown. Rush draws his pistol.
“No no no!” you plead, showing him your palms, cowering beneath one of the windows.
They could throw me out of it. They could say it was an accident or a suicide.
The deck is lined with potted plants and lightweight wicker furniture. Inside, you can hear Rhaenyra saying something, though her words are muffled; it’s a tone you wouldn’t have thought she was capable of. She sounds afraid. Draco and Dagmar must be asleep, Fern tucked away in the tiny maid’s room. There are no witnesses to what will happen next. Your heart thuds in your chest, swollen and sickly. Cold North Atlantic wind washes over your bare skin and leaves you freckled with goosebumps.
Like a lightning storm, like a hurricane, Daemon surges out onto the deck. He is still tying his robe shut. His hair hangs in dark, damp strands over his forehead. You picture it again, though you don’t want to: Daemon with Rhaenyra like he’s never been with you, the impulsive desire, the dire necessity.
Why not in Rhaenyra’s bed? Why would he bring her here?
Because he thought you wouldn’t be back until midnight…and to prove he can get away with it. To succeed where he failed with you this morning. To feel like a man again.
“I didn’t see anything,” you tell him, but you cannot keep the shock and disgust from your face, intractable like a wild animal.
Daemon kicks one of the wicker chairs at you. You bat it away with a scream and press yourself harder against the barrier, trying to disappear, trying to become somebody else, a girl who didn’t agree to marry a renegade of a man who showed up smirking and cavalier at her father’s Connemara marble quarry.
I want to go home, you think with helplessness like a child’s.
“I didn’t see anything,” you say again, sobbing now. With one hand, you claw at the windowsill above you so you have something to hold onto if he tries to drag you away. The wind, sweeping down from the Arctic, burns like blue fire in your lungs. “I don’t know anything.”
Daemon dives to the floor, hooks his fingers into your hair, yanks you closer as you cry out and flinch away from him. “One word, one fucking word, and you’re gone,” he is threatening, a blade-sharp hiss, and you can smell Rhaenyra’s perfume on him, marking his flushed skin like a bloodstain; but Daemon’s deep-set green eyes—emerald, malachite, jade, serpentine, Connemara marble—are fearful. This is strange; this is unlike him, this is a foreign language.
He loves her, you realize. He’s terrified to harm her, to lose her.
“I would never—”
“Over the railing,” Daemon snarls, jerking your head to the side as you whimper. “Your bones at the bottom of the ocean, your name forgotten.”
“I won’t tell, please, Daemon, please, don’t hurt me.” You look at Rush. He’s staring indifferently down at you, his pistol still in his hand. You turn back to Daemon. “I’ve never told anyone.” About the bruises, about the man you really are. “Not my parents, not a soul. I don’t want to tell. I just want to stay with you and Draco. I won’t jeopardize that. Please, Daemon, please—”
“No one would believe you,” he says; but if that was true, he wouldn’t be so frantic. “You’d be a madwoman. They’d lock you up in an asylum, put you in a straightjacket, cut the pieces off of you that made you so hysterical.”
“Yes,” you agree, yielding, toothless.
He rips at your hair again, pulling you away from the barrier and to the center of the floor. Rush steps out of the way to make room. You don’t fight Daemon. You have to convince him your fighting days are over.
Why doesn’t he kill me now? A dagger to the jugular, a body splashing into opaque waves?
Because he needs his perfect family in order to march triumphantly into the skyscrapers-and-streetlights labyrinth of Manhattan. Because he can’t eclipse Viserys if people are whispering that his wife is dead under peculiar circumstances, fallen overboard on Titanic’s famed maiden voyage, insane or drunk or maybe—just maybe—murdered by a man’s rough rageful hands.
“What did you see?” Daemon says, testing you.
“Nothing.”
His palm cracks across your face. You yelp, more startled than in pain. Your skin is going numb from the cold; he’s hit you harder before. Now he doesn’t want to bloody or bruise you, he doesn’t want to leave evidence others could notice. He wants his threats imprinted irrevocably into you like scars. He wants you to listen. “What did you see?!”
“Nothing,” you moan, and then the door to the sitting room opens. You, Daemon, and Rush all whirl towards the noise.
In the doorway stands Fern with a silver-plated tray of tea and biscuits. Her black dress and white apron appear hastily thrown on, rumpled fabric and some buttons left undone. She blinks a few times, but she seems more nervous than shocked. Her eyes flit to you and then settle benignly on a wicker table. She ignores the chair that Daemon kicked earlier, lying overturned at the edge of the deck.
She knew what was happening, you think, grateful, a little awed. She’s here to try to stop it.
“It’s so cold out tonight,” Fern says at last. “I thought I’d make tea.”
Daemon doesn’t know how to respond. He’s never cruel to the staff, that’s one of his charms. His miners worship him, his valets believe him to be their true friend, his housekeepers fret over him as if he’s their husband or their son. Daemon rarely acknowledges Fern directly, as if she doesn’t quite exist to him, a ghost whose silhouette appears on eerie nights, squeaks of door hinges and objects nudged a few mysterious centimeters. He chooses his enemies with great care, like a gardener pruning diseased leaves. Daemon understands that the ones who toil beneath his feet are in the best position to rise up and devour him.
Fern sets the tray down on the wicker table and waits, her hands clasped decorously in front of her. “Will you be requiring anything else, sir?”
There are several electrified seconds—waves thrashing against the ship, wind howling as it tears through your hair—and then Daemon laughs and releases you, as if this has all been a comical misunderstanding. He stands and goes to the tray, picks up a cup of tea, and slurps on it as steam billows up into his face. “How kind of you.”
Fern bows her head in a nod, not leaving. Rush glances between them, then slides his pistol back into its holster.
“Draco should have a mother,” Daemon tells you, looking down from a great height. It sounds like it is meant to be a compromise.
“He should,” you reply. Even if I cannot touch him, cannot be alone with him, cannot teach him to love me.
“It’s not good for boys. When their mothers up and die on them while they’re still so young.” Daemon is reflective for a moment—an unusual skin for him to wear—and then slinks towards the doorway. “Fern, darling, change the bedsheets, will you?”
“Yes, sir. Right away.” She follows him back inside, a brief glimpse at you over one shoulder. Rush glowers at you and disappears with them. You are left alone on the private promenade deck.
Your head spinning, your bones freezing, you struggle to your feet: palms flat on the pine planks, black opal ring glimmering in the moonlight, knees groaning as you lift them. Slowly—stunned, aching—you pull on your pink wool coat. You find Aegon’s lighter and hide it in your handbag, then stand there clutching it like you’re on your way to some glittering social engagement, a tea party, a dinner, a gala, a Christmas party. But what you’re on your way to is purgatory, like the one Dante wrote of, a prison where you will sweat out your sins over and over again.
Why did I believe him? Why did I marry him? Why can’t I find a way out?
You leave the deck like an autumn frosting into winter, bleak, hushed, listless. You do not return to your staterooms but pass through the doorway that leads to the B-Deck hallways. The corridors are quiet and still, occasional stewards running the last errands of the night, a few men in black suits puffing on pipes and cigars, swirling clinking glasses of brandy, ruing all the blights that have incumbered their earnings: foolish wives, Democratic politicians, dissolute immigrants.
You flee towards the stern of the ship, far from the first-class sections. Outside there is a greenish hue to the sky—dim echoes of northern lights—and stars that sparkle like jewels. There is no one lingering by the back railing of Titanic, and for good reason; the air is so cold it bites like fangs, and the roar of the propellers is terrible, so loud and so guttural, sea monsters like the ones early explorers drew into the margins of their maps clawing up from the depths. You fall to the deck and sit with your knees to your chest at the end of a pair of benches—hiding in the shadows where you will not be seen by wandering passengers or lookouts scanning for icebergs—and gaze into the east as Titanic chugs westward, away from Ireland, away from everything your life could have been.
Tears bleed down your cheeks and turn from magma to ice there. You wipe them off your face with the sleeve of your pink wool coat. You ignite a cigarette with Aegon’s aluminum lighter and smoke it all the way down. You light another, and another, poisoning your blood with each breath, polishing the barbs off reality. It’s not enough. You need a drink. How long until you’re just another languishing housewife addicted to laudanum or cocaine? How long until you’re a drunk like Aegon once was?
I want to go home. I want to go home.
There are footsteps, sluggish and clumsy. An intoxicated man. You are about to scramble to your feet and escape when you see who it is. Aegon flops down beside you in a stolen black coat, the pungent miasma of Guinness wafting off of him and his face splotchy and red, looking away from you, ashamed of himself.
You say: “I thought you didn’t drink anymore.”
“And obviously there’s a reason for that,” Aegon slurs. He rubs his eyes, watery and unfocused, bloodshot and despondent. “I’m having a bad night.”
Me too. “Did you know?” you ask, a hoarse voice, a cigarette smoldering between two fingers.
Aegon is confused. “Know what?”
“That Daemon can’t get hard for me because he’d rather be sleeping with his niece.”
“What?” Aegon gapes at you, incredulous, revolted. “Daemon is fucking Rhaenyra?”
You nod, taking a drag. There is a faint orange glow, a warm hit of nicotine to your blood.
“I can’t believe that.”
“I can. I saw it.”
“Jesus,” Aegon mutters, staring out into the endless ink spill of the Atlantic Ocean. Then, more sympathetically: “No, I didn’t know.”
“You never heard anything?”
“Not like that,” he says. “I mean, I remember when I was a kid and people were talking about Daemon being a bad influence on her. But they said he was teaching Rhaenyra to go to parties and stay out too late and swear and smoke, not…you know. Not that he was committing incest with her. That’s some Richard III mischief.”
“Now I understand why you know so much Shakespeare.”
“My parents couldn’t send me to boarding school fast enough. I was shipped off the same week I turned five. Cake and presents one day, shoved on a train the next.”
“I’m afraid Daemon will do that to Draco.” You can’t keep the quiver from your words. “I’m afraid he’ll kill me now that I know the worst of his secrets.”
Aegon turns to you, and through the haze of dark bitter Guinness that’s still sloshing from his stomach into his bloodstream you can see he fears the same thing.
“I want to go home,” you sob, breaking down. Ashes build on your cigarette until you toss it away. Tears spill from your eyes, the River Shannon, the River Clare. “Nobody here cares about me.”
“I do,” Aegon insists, touching your face, trying to make you listen. His sand-colored hair lashes in the wind. “I care about you.”
“You don’t know me.”
“I’m trying to.”
“Why do you care? Why can’t you leave me alone? Did you go to O’Connell’s Bar to spy on me, was all of this to spite Daemon and—?”
“No,” Aegon says, a truthful boyish confession. “No. I didn’t know you’d be there. I didn’t know anything about you except that Daemon had married some quarry heiress. I heard he’d be there for an interview, and I was curious, and I kind of thought it’d be fun to fuck with him if he ended up recognizing me, and so I got a job at O’Connell’s and made sure I’d be playing the night Daemon showed up. That’s all there was to it. And then I saw you in that bar in Galway and you were…” He shakes his head. His voice drops to a whisper, aching and reverent. “You were so sad, and so beautiful, and I…I’ve never done anything important in my entire life. I’ve never helped anyone. But I looked at you and I felt like…I thought…I could save her. And maybe that would make all the rest of my mistakes worth it, the wasted years of drinking myself to sleep every night, the aimlessness, the emptiness, the way I abandoned my mother and Helaena, Aemond, Daeron. I followed you onto Titanic because I had to try to help you. But by leading me home, by bringing me back to my family in New York…maybe you’re helping me too.”
I wish I was yours, you think, so vividly you almost tell him. I wish I was a stone in your mine to be found in the darkness, chiseled from the wall, studied and cut down and polished, set in gold or silver to be worn on your ring finger, your blood pulsing beneath my ageless gleam.
“Please stay away from me,” you beg him. “Please, Aegon. I don’t want you to die.”
He says as his thumbprints clean tears from your cheeks: “What if Daemon was gone?”
“You mean what if I pushed him over a railing and into the Atlantic Ocean?” you ask, sniffling. “Assuming I could get him alone, and he didn’t stab me first or drag me overboard with him, they would know it was me. Rush, Dagmar, Rhaenyra. And they would make me pay. If I lived, I’d spend the rest of my life in a prison or an asylum. I wouldn’t get to go home. I wouldn’t get to keep Draco.”
Aegon doesn’t know what to say, and this is because there are no answers. You aren’t overlooking anything. Sometimes reality is cold and unfeeling and lethal, primordial, reptilian, mindless black eyes like a shark’s.
You smile miserably at him. “I’m going to miss you when the ship docks in New York Harbor.”
“Daemon wanting to fuck Rhaenyra doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you.”
“Stop,” you say, wincing, standing to leave him. Aegon reaches for your hands, but you hide them in the pockets of your pink wool coat. He gazes up at you, drunk desperate heartbreak. You wonder how clearly he’ll remember this tomorrow.
“If you were my wife, I’d never look away.”
“You have no idea who I am. You’ve never really seen me.” Never held me, never uncovered me, never opened me and filled the void with your own rushing blood. Then you depart before someone can come searching for you and discover Aegon, rip away his disguise, toss him into the roiling frigid surf stirred up by the propellers.
In your staterooms, the lamplit air is silent and warmed by the ship’s furnaces, shoveled full of coal at all hours of the day and night. Fern is waiting on the sofa when you enter. She looks at you as if she is relieved, then vanishes into her tiny maid’s room without a word. Your bedroom has been tidied, the linens changed; but the mineral ether of sex still hangs in the space like tapestries from a wall. You try not to notice your reflection in the mirror.
Daemon never touched me like he touched Rhaenyra. He never wanted me, I never satisfied him.
Daemon doesn’t come back all night. You sleep on the floor.
~~~~~~~~~~
On the morning of Sunday April 14th, you dress in green, the color of the Emerald Isle, the color of deep poisonous envy. You affix small emeralds to your ears and one massive stone around your throat, found in Madagascar in one of Daemon’s Grandidierite mines, a lush verdant glint in a nest of cold blue like deep water, like ice.
Heavy enough to drown me, you think wryly, a swift glance at the mirror, turning away again almost immediately. I’d go straight to the bottom.
Before you leave the bedroom, you slide open the top drawer of Dameon’s writing desk, presently abandoned. His dagger is there, gold hilt and spherical gemstones like miniature planets, all fatefully aligned: amethyst, tiger’s eye, black opal, emerald, ruby, bloodstone, sapphire. You lift up the dagger and study it, circling the tiny emerald world with your index finger. You are jealous of Rhaenyra getting everything she’s ever wanted. You are jealous of any woman who’s ever touched Aegon, who knows what it feels like to lie beneath him, to be known by him.
You place the dagger back in the drawer and slam it shut; the whole desk rattles. Then you go out into the sitting room, where Fern is attempting to wrestle Draco into his black wool coat, a small version of Daemon’s.
“No!” Draco is bellowing. “I don’t want to wear it, I don’t want to, let me go!”
“You’ll freeze to death out there, lad,” Fern says, strands of her long copper-colored hair escaping from her bonnet and a sheen of perspiration on her forehead, looking like she’s been to war.
Draco is stomping on the toes of her shoes to little effect. “No I won’t!”
You peer around, searching for your geriatric nemesis, a banshee, a vampire. She is nowhere to be found. “Where’s Dagmar?”
“She’s feeling seasick,” Fern replies, still struggling with Draco. “So she’s lying down in Draco’s bedroom. I’m sure she’ll be up and around again before you know it. She’s a tough old Cailleach.” And there’s no danger in being overheard; Dagmar wouldn’t know what that means, just like you don’t understand her when she mutters her strange Scandinavian curses.
You immediately scoop up Draco and run with him out of the staterooms, Draco giggling shrilly, you beaming as you fly down the corridors and ascend the Grand Staircase two steps at a time, your green shoes slipping on the English oak wood as you zoom past the bronze cherub statue and the ticking clock. All around you are first-class passengers watching with startled looks, a little baffled, a little amused. High above is the dome of glass and wrought iron, brisk white-gold sunlight streaming through. You carry Draco out onto the Boat Deck, the highest level of the ship, and take him to an unoccupied portion of the railing beside one of the lifeboats. You hold him so he can see over the barrier and out into the calm murky blue of the North Atlantic Ocean, hundreds of miles southeast of Newfoundland. The breeze is icy, the sky infinite and cloudless.
You spot slate grey fins cutting up through the water in arches, a whole pod of them. “Look, look! Dolphins!”
“Dolphins?” Draco says doubtfully. “Dolphins are real? Not just in books?”
“Of course they’re real. And they’re friendly, too. Back in Galway, sometimes they swim right up to the pier hoping the fishermen will share the catch of the day.”
“Neat!” Draco shouts. “Can I throw things at them?”
You pause, unsure how to reply. You resist the urge to shake him and say: Do you crave violence like Daemon, are you burning up inside with his fire? Do you want to be a monster like your father? One day will you paint amethyst bruises on your wife? “Why would you want to do that?”
Draco shrugs. “I like throwing things.”
“Well, throwing things can be fun, but if you throw something at a dolphin you might hurt it. Do you want to hurt the dolphin? It’s a living creature just like you. They have friends and families, and blood in their veins. They can feel it if you cut them.”
“No,” Draco decides. “I don’t really want to hurt the dolphins.”
“You can throw things in other situations, like if you play cricket or hurling or Gaelic football. Or baseball, I guess. Now that we’ll be living in America.”
“Okay,” Draco says, gazing at the ocean. Fern trots over to you, breathing heavily from trying to keep up, but she’s grinning. She has brought the coat Draco refused to put on, and this is fortunate, because now as you hold him on your hip you can feel your son is shivering.
“Do you want to put on your coat now?” you ask him.
“Yeah,” Draco says reluctantly, and you lower him down to the deck and help him tug the sleeves over his tiny arms. You suddenly remember when he was born and being so fascinated by his hands—so small and wrinkled, so powerless, always grasping—and Dagmar forever clawing him out of your arms, bundling him up in blankets and whisking him away to other corners of the castle.
“Fern was trying to help you when she told you to wear your coat. She knew you would be cold, and now you are, aren’t you? When adults tell you to do things, it’s not for no reason. They just want what’s best for you.”
“But I don’t like to do what other people say. I like to do what I want.”
“And that’s totally understandable,” you say. “Sometimes you will get to make your own decisions, especially as you get older. But right now you’re very, very young, and there are just a lot of things you don’t know yet, so you need adults more. Please be kind when Fern is trying to help you with your coat or your shoes. She doesn’t mean to upset you. She wants you to be safe and healthy.”
Fern gives you a modest, thankful smile. Draco is mulling this over. “The older someone is, the more they know?”
“I suppose you could put it that way,” you say.
“So Dagmar knows a lot more than you.”
He’s not trying to be cruel; he’s trying to figure things out. The world is so new to him. You wish you could recall what that feels like, to see everything with vast light wonder. “Well…” you begin delicately. He loves her; you cannot win by bludgeoning her into a mess of bloodstains and bone shards. “Yes, she probably knows more about certain things.”
You pick Draco up again to distract him, and he is captivated by the seagulls swooping through the air, laughing and tracking them with his wide eyes, a sunlit green beneath pale blonde hair that is disheveled from the wind. There is a figure lurking on the periphery of your vision, a man in black, a coat and a hat, hands in his pockets. You turn to see it’s Aegon, perhaps ten feet away and pretending to survey the horizon. Your heartbeat quickens; you stomach drops.
What on earth is he doing here? Why can’t he leave me alone?
But of course, you don’t want him to. You stare at him and instinctively touch the emerald that hangs from your throat, Madagascar, Ireland, treasure, envy. You think of how your bedroom smelled when you returned to it late last night.
Fern seems oblivious to Aegon. “I feel so much better knowing there are lifeboats aboard,” she says, looking at the vessel you are standing beside.
“There aren’t enough of them,” you tell her, a low murmur that Draco pays no attention to.
Fern is alarmed. “No?”
“They can fit about half the passengers, no more. So if anything happens, make sure you don’t waste any time finding yourself a seat.”
“I’ll keep that in mind, ma’am,” Fern says, troubled.
“Have you seen Lord Targaryen today?”
“No, ma’am,” Fern answers, trying to keep her tone neutral. She isn’t sure if it will be a relief to you or a knife to the heart. “He moved some of his things to Rhaenyra’s rooms before he departed last night. I suspect he will spend the rest of Titanic’s journey there.”
“He’s so fond of his niece,” you say flatly.
“Yes.”
“And she is in need of company, as her own husband is always fraternizing with the Parisians.”
Fern isn’t sure what she’s allowed to say. She smirks and bows her head to hide it. Now Aegon is strolling closer, ostensibly casual. “Good morning, ladies!”
Fern curtsies politely. “Good morning, sir.”
He casts Draco a glance—Aegon seems puzzled by him, maybe a little wary, certainly not accustomed to being around children—then extends an open hand to you. “What an engagement ring! Might I trouble you for a quick look?”
You set Draco down and he is promptly enamored by an orange-sized rubber ball someone has left here. “Of course.” You try to act indifferent, but when Aegon takes your left hand in his own you feel a jolt of warmth travel like a wave up the length of your arm.
Aegon turns your hand one way and then the other, inspecting it. Underneath, his fingertips stroke the lines of your palm. A tremor cascades down the rungs of your spine, helpless hypnotic longing. “What is that, onyx? Obsidian? Jet?”
“Black opal. From Australia.”
“A prison colony,” Aegon says, grinning at you from under the brim of his hat. “A place for villains and beasts.” Swiftly, he takes his right hand from his coat pocket and presses something into your palm: a folded piece of paper, a note, a message in a bottle from a castaway. Then he steps back from you as if it takes great effort.
“There you are!” a craggy voice cries out, and Dagmar is crossing the deck. She seems restored, if a bit wan. She swishes over in her charcoal-colored gown, her white hair twisted into a severe bun, and when Draco bolts to her she kneels down and catches him in a fierce, territorial embrace, her gnarled hands encircling his diminutive body. “Out and about without me? And I wager you haven’t even had breakfast yet, have you, my love?” She glares over his little shoulder at you. “You must be famished. How terribly irresponsible to let you suffer.”
“He ate some tea and biscuits when he woke up to tide him over,” Fern offers meekly.
“I was having fun with Mam,” Draco tells Dagmar, and you see the calculations on her cunning ancient face. She can’t scold him, she can’t correct him. She can’t defeat you with naked wrath any more than you can demand he stop loving Dagmar. You have sailed into new waters, a subtle silent war.
Aegon is receding, disappearing into the crowds of first-class passengers strolling the Boat Deck. Dagmar glances at him and then looks again, her jaw dropping open, her attention captured like a jewel in the pocket of a thief.
“What is it?” Fern asks, peeking bewilderedly at the stranger. Draco is chasing the rubber ball around again. Your pulse thuds hot and hectic in your ears.
Dagmar’s sharp blue eyes are uncharacteristically dazed; she shakes her head as if she’s just seen something impossible, an angel or a ghost. “He looks just like Viserys when he was young.”
~~~~~~~~~~
Dagmar spirits Draco off to breakfast, Fern returns to the staterooms to complete her chores for the day. You take the Grand Staircase down to A-Deck and slip into the Reading and Writing Room, mostly unoccupied this early in the day, to read Aegon’s note. Outside on the Promenade Deck, you can hear Daemon and Rhaenyra strolling by with a number of companions, chuckling and chatting away in a world where all their wishes are granted.
Daemon is saying: “There is an Armenian legend about a so-called Queen of the Serpents, who carries in her fanged mouth a stone made of light. Some nights she tosses it up into the air, where it becomes the moon, full and shining, until it inevitably drops back down to the earth. And as the proverb goes, happy is the man who shall catch the stone where it falls…”
You know that story. It was in one of the books you gifted Daemon for your first anniversary.
With trembling hands, you unfold Aegon’s note. He has written in black ink:
Petra,
One last painting?
Don’t go to dinner tonight. Meet me at the stern.

Could I request how it would be with indra,madara,Sakura,tsunade,obito,itachi,naruto,Sasuke,shisui in a twilight au?Thank you ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
I did not know how to make this quite into a Twilight AU so I think it's better to see this in general as a Vampire AU with kind of Twilight elements at times.

Twilight AU
Indra Otsutsuki
💜 Indra must be one of the oldest vampires out there, one who has been travelling from continent to continent for over a millenium. He's heartless and feared among other vampires as his experience and his abilities he has gained after becoming a vampire have given him power beyond his wildest imagination, hence why he is rather satisfied with his existence as a bloodsucking monster. Love is a concept he does not believe in, humans are merely food and no other vampire has ever been more than a pawn as he sees everyone else as something that is under him and for that not worthy. You're supposed to be prey when you venture all alone around in his current territory, red eyes following your form with a hungry glint in his eyes. When he catches a whiff of your scent though as the wind changes trajectory, he's caught off-guard. The sweet aroma penetrates his mind, twists his thoughts until you and your blood is all he can think about. He attacks without thinking.
💜 He should feel no remorse, he shouldn't. Yet when he knocks you down, teeth tearing through your flesh as he starts drinking and notices how your heartbeat grows weaker under his body, he feels something painful constricting inside his chest, in the place where his heart used to be. It's such an odd and uncomfortable feeling, one that catches him by surprise as he interrupts his meal and stares down at you. Why does he feel conflicted? He's never cared about lives. He spends too much time hesitating as his body stops listening to him, unable to bend down and continue with his meal until you regain consciousness again. He hypnotizes you in the end, his mind and heart at war with each other about what to do. You forget about him quickly as he makes you believe that you were attacked by an animal before he disappears, trying his best to ignore the weird sensation inside his chest, trying his best to forget about as as you've been the trigger for all of this.
💜 You're like a persistent parasyte though, one that has infiltrated his mind and heart alike as every thought always leads back to the image of you. There's almost a pull to see you again, one that Indra refuses to listen to as he sees it as a sign of submission, submission towards a human. Unforgivable. He's aware that at times you come back though as your scent makes his undead heart feel like it's jumping inside his chest and the impulse to see you, to feel you gnaws silently away at him. This is so unlike anything he has ever experienced, this isn't natural. Indra starts doing his research, unable to accept his unhealthy obsession towards a meek human. He eventually comes across the topic of mates, something he thought would only count for mutts. There are tracks of vampires feeling a strong pull towards humans though and even if Indra doesn't want to admit it, it seems like he has experienced the same towards you.
💜 He has a short outburst of wrath when he realizes the truth, blames you as his pride refuses to accept you, a mere human. It's only after he has calmed down, noticing to his dismay the painful pull inside his chest, that he reconsiders. The records mention that the vampires went mad or even committed suicide if they lost their mate in any way and this is a fate far too pitiful for him. He's supposed to be eternal. Perhaps it's unsurprising when he decides grimly to abduct you without any consideration for your feelings. If destiny has really made you for him, it's his right to take you. Your terrified face and desperate pleads won't get you anywhere as Indra is terribly condescending, sees you merely as a itty bitty human who has no idea of how the world really works and what things lurk outside of your little home. Instead you should learn to obey and accept his possessive obsession, his dark desire to dominate your mind, your body, your heart. You have no right to cry since it's your fault for reducing him to such a pitiful creature. He'll pay you back for what you've done to him. You'll stay with him for eternity until you won't know anything besides him anymore.
Madara Uchiha
🌑 Madara would probably also a vampire who has lived for centuries and has become a name among the vampire community that is spoken with deep respect and fear. No wonder, even during his human years he has already been greatly feared. He's even been the one who was responsible for the creation of the Akatsuki who supervise the world of vampires and make sure that all follow the rules, although he has never been officially part of them. He travels around a lot in hopes of finding a strong vampire with whom he can fight and along the way he kills humans to feed from them. He's become completely enstranged with them as it's been too long for him since he's become a vampire, he's forgotten about the worth of a human life. That changes on the night where he meets you in a small and rainy city at night, your scent instantly demanding his attention just as much as your feisty and bratty attitude, probably because you're slightly tipsy.
🌑 For an unknown reason he escorts you back home instead of killing you, the combination of your addictive scent and your unashamed behavior probably the reason for that. Even after he's left you, now aware where you live, he can't help but think about you. You somehow feel different from all other humans he has killed so far in his lifetime and somehow he can't help the excited spark lighting up inside his chest when recalling your scent and the way you acted so casual around him, a complete stranger you've just on the streets at night. You must have lost it because no sane person would trust someone they just met outside at night. Madara can't deny that he's a bit curious, such an amazing feeling after centuries of feeling rather bored so he decides to spare you and get to know you a bit better for now, until this feeling has left his chest and he can kill you and enjoy your exquisite blood. The next time he approaches you, disguised as a human and can't deny that he feels smug when you remember him.
🌑 Your confidence has waned now that you're sober again and it's highly amusing to notice your heart picking up it's pace and the blood rushing to your head as you apologize to him for your previous attitude, highly embarrassed with what you've done. He might just tease you a bit more, he knows some stuff you've forgotten about after all. It's relatively easy to get to know you better because even if you're a tad bit wary and hard to get, something he actually enjoys, you can't deny that having a mysterious, handsome man surrounding you is a pleasant change in your otherwise plain routine. Madara loves your company even more as having you around him and being able to breathe in your natural odor almost makes him feel dizzy at times, in a good way. Some part of him feels like he's letting himself down though by entertaining himself with a low and weak human, another part of him can't get enough of you, wants you with him every day. This longing doesn't seem to be anything normal though.
🌑 Whilst you enjoy it for a while, you start feeling skittish around him after a while. He turns very possessive and the fact that he can smell everyone you've met does not help. His interest has turned into an all-consuming need to possess you to the point where he finds himself hunting down and murdering everyone who seems too close to you. He's heard of the concept of mates among vampires too and it's the easiest explanation he can receive and that knowledge is the final push to make him feel very entitled. If you were made for him, he has every right to claim you for himself. Your opinion about it does not matter as you're taken against your will and find out just what this man really is. He sees himself above you since you're a human with a lifespan that is like nothing compared to his own so he labels you as naive and weak, expects obedience. The very obvious difference of power dynamic between you two is something he deeply enjoys, especially since he can smell your fear even if he admires you for putting on a brave face. Keep that little fire inside of you since he gets excited to see you trying to hold your head high. Just know to ultimately listen to him.
Tsunade Senju
🐌 Tsunade has behind her tough shell a deep compassion for humans so she has settled down with a coven who lives exclusively off of a diet of animal blood. They're disguised as a family with her having taken the role of the adult who has adopted them. Despite her young appearance, Tsunade is the oldest one in her coven and was during her time alive a healer so perhaps it's unsurprising that she's working as a doctor in the hospital inside the rainy, little town. You're a patient assigned to her and merely come over to receive a medical check-up. As soon as you open the door and she catches a whiff of your scent, she freezes for a short moment. She has trained for centuries to be able to endure the smell of blood even during surgeries yet your odor is unlike anything she's ever encountered. It isn't even your blood that smells sweet, it's your entire being that wraps her up in a comforting and addictive smell she suddenly yearns to have around her the entire time.
🐌 It's only when you call her name unsurely does she realize she has been staring funnily at you, a slipup from her side of which she feels ashamed yet quickly tries to hide it. She's dragging your medical check-up out on purpose just to relish in your presence that comforts her in ways she has never experienced before. When you leave her, her eyes follow you for a long time, her enhanced vision allowing her to keep track of you for much longer until you're gone from her view. Somehow she feels a sense of disturbance now that you're gone yet she does her best to endure it and go on with her day as usual. When she arrives later that day though, she feels like her nerves are about to burst as she is seemingly more irritated and her temper worse than usual. Your absence bothers her far too much, it shouldn't affect her as strongly as it does yet she knows from the weird pull inside her chest that something is definitely going on. She should probably investigate a bit...and see it through to meet you again.
🐌 She most likely uses her position as a head doctor to get access to some private information about you like your number and even your address, not to mention your age, your birthday and so much more. Tsunade asks you often to come over with the excuse that something doesn't seem quite right with you and which requires her to do a more thorough check-up on you. Then she often ends up easing you up in conversations with her which don't have anything to do with your health and instead are more focused on your interests and private life. Additionally to that, her adopted child Sakura starts approaching you and befriends you and when she invites you over, you only get to spend more time around her. Sakura does it since Tsunade has sort of asked her to do that but also because she's not blind to the fact that her teacher seems to suffer when you aren't around. Tsunade is really sweet and affectionate with you, fails in her attempts to stay professional around you.
🐌 She eventually comes across the records of vampires falling in love with humans and that their scent was the major part that drew them in. Mentions of mates are thrown in and that is most likely the trigger that leads her down the more delusional road. You're her mate and that knowledge is joyful yet also a bit scary as she's suddenl hyperfocusing on the fact that you're a frail human. Whenever she sees you, she's suddenly making a fuss over you, especially when you're sick or hurt. You can never hide such stuff from her since she's always smelling it. She's incredibly overprotective and overbearing, Sakura is often forced to stay with you when Tsunade is unable to do to ease her teacher's paranoia and assure her that you're safe. Also, she gets incredibly jealous when she hears that someone else gets a bit too close to you, although she's sure that she'll meet them soon enough since her hospital is the only one in this town. The fact that she's unable to be together with you kills her since you view her as the mother of Sakura and as too old for you. If you'd know about her though, you might be scared. She's anxious to be seen as a monster in your eyes. You'll have to find out eventually though.
Obito Uchiha
🔥 Everyone in the vampire world is terrified of Obito even if Pain and Konan are more present as the leader of the Akatsuki. His gift is one of the strongest known to vampires until this day and everyone knows that if Obito is present during a conference deciding about the fate of a vampire who has done something that could have spoiled their secret to the humans, he'll always vote for them dying a gruesome death. He's sadistic and heartless and whilst no one dares to speak about it, they know it's because he's lost his mate centuries ago and has never recovered, a permanent hole where his heart used to be. He often is just wandering around their hideout where they lure humans into, red eyes observing bitterly every happy couple which he often targets as food simply to rip their happiness apart since he couldn't have his happiness either. He's given up on the concept on love yet it's during one of his walks around the castle that he catches a whiff of the sweetest aroma he's ever witnessed.
🔥 He's rushing quickly to the source of that scent only to stumble upon Sasori who is leading a group of prey to their temple in the forest. Obito quickly spots the source of the wonderful scent, a young tourist who is looking at him weirdly intrigued. It's like sparks suddenly igniting within his body when your gazes meet, a rush of life flowing through his body, something he hasn't felt since Rin's death. There's no question for him, he knows what that feeling means. Mate. He's found his mate! You're confused when he walks over to you and grabs you quickly, pulling you closer to his body whilst telling Sasori to take the rest of their guests whilst he will take you. Said male cocks on eyebrow but obeys and ushers the rest of the group to follow him whilst you stay back, still very much left in the dark. When you want to ask the strange man what has just happened, you stop yourself when you see the absolute reverence he holds in his eyes whilst gazing adoringly at you. Why? You've just met him.
🔥 He quickly leads you back to the temple, clutching your hand tightly in his own. Sometimes a flash of sunlight reaches the ground through all the trees and you swear that you can see his skin sparkly, not to mention that he's cold. Almost like he's not alive. You're brought to another exit in the temple where Obito quickly leads you to his own room, hushing your confused and slightly scared questions as he promises you that it'll be alright before he leaves you alone, much to his dismay and desperation. He's locks the door so you really have no choice but to wait there with jittery nerves. He comes back shortly after with a sweet smile on his face, too sweet for your taste, and tells you that this is now your new home and that someone will get the stuff from your hotel. Just as you're about to protest and demand that he lets you go, he caresses your face gently, muttering softly that he can't believe that you still exist. You don't know what he means but the sick obsession in his eyes tells you the worst.
🔥 You get barely any time to yourself the next few weeks as Obito is always right next to you. You're informed pretty quickly what he is and are obviously terrified, although Obito always tells you that he'll murder anyone who might even dare to hurt you, a dark gleam in his eyes as he says so. Physically he always yearns for some contact as if it's less a want and more a need to him, arms always wrapped around you as he breathes in your sweet scent that makes his heart feel complete again. He's paranoid about you walking around without him since there are other vampires besides him in this temple. One time where you were alone, you were told by a woman named Konan that Obito used to have a mate who died a long time ago, the most painful thing that could happen to any vampire. Him finding out that fate gave him another mate is a miracle unheard of and explains his unhealthy attachment to you. You're a gift, a blessing for Obito who has spent over a century grieving and now has a second chance. That's why he's so overprotective, overbearing and suffocates you with his presence and affection alike. He could never let you leave him in any way, shape or form. Never again.
Shisui Uchiha
🍂 Shisui doesn't really belong to any coven as he's living more by himself. That aside though, he is a good friend of Itachi from the Akatsuki and occasionally does take a job from them to investigate something when Itachi contacts him and asks for his assistance. This time it is no difference as he's informed that apparently a freshly turned vampire was clumsy enough to allow a human to see them. Not only is he supposed to catch the newborn but also get rid of the human who has witnessed the sight of them. Shisui has asked if he can just let them forget instead of killing them but Pain was very clear with instructions. It's truly a pity, he does feel sorry for the humans at times but just like humans eat animals and kill them to get their meat, vampires kill humans to suck their blood. He at least wants to make your death as painful as possible by trapping you inside a peaceful hallucination but once he's able to pick up your scent, everything gets out of hand.
🍂 He's unable to kill you, his chest twisting painfully when he realizes that you stare at him with fear in his eyes when you notice him and his red eyes. You've seen similar eyes before and barely escaped with your life. As soon as you try to run though, Shisui makes you lose your consciousness with the help of his gift, his head spinning as you collapse and he catches you. He's never hesitated to kill a human or a vampire before to ensure the survival of their species so this is unusual for him. Red eyes scrutinize your peaceful face as a warm sensation starts tickling the pit of his stomach, a silent longing to see you and hold you like this every day overtaking him. He decides to keep you with him for now, until he has figured out what to do with you. He's never taken care of a human before but he has kept up with humanity and for that knows what you need. He frees you from your halluzinaction at one point but threatens to put you back if you cause a ruckus. You have no choice but to obey.
🍂 Truthfully spoken, he doesn't want to threaten you and scare you but he also can't risk you doing anything stupid. Not only would it complicate things a bit for him but you will also endanger yourself like that. He does his best to be as respectful as he can though, he still gives you space and is even gracious enough to get you some stuff to read or to keep yourself busy with. Meanwhile he's tracking down the newborn whilst also looking a bit deeper into the possible reason why he might feel so strongly about you. The Akatsuki at one point send Itachi over though to see what is taking Shisui so long and Itachi is surprised when he finds out that Shisui hasn't killed you yet. He has a discussion with Shisui, although he knows that his friend must have a good reason to not have murdered you already. Shisui informs Itachi about the strange experience he had when first seeing you, questions him if he perhaps knows anything about it. The shocked glint in Itachi's eyes tells him that he does know.
🍂 You're his mate. Those are news that even manage to take Shisui off-guard but otherwise he doesn't seem to be offended about the fact that his mate is a human. Instead he makes it clear to Itachi that that is all the more reason why he can't kill you, reassures him that he will turn you into a vampire sooner or later and see it through to teach you everything that you need to know so that the Akatsuki can be at ease. Itachi on the other hand promises to explain to the Akatsuki what's going on before he leaves to head back, leaving Shisui slightly amazed back. He has actually found his mate after decades. He's not joking around either, you've already seen one of his kind so he sees no reason to come up with any silly excuses. He instead tells you honestly the truth, aware that he'll horrify you by doing so. His promise that he would never kill you does little to reassure you considering the fact that he makes it very clear that he can't let you leave him anymore. When he even explains the concept of mates to you, your heart drops down in your stomach as you fully realize what he's implying right now. That he will keep you with him for eternity now, unable to ever let you go.
Itachi Uchiha
🍡 Itachi is part of the Akatsuki and on top of that belongs to the elite guard, a title that only is given to really gifted vampires. He just happens to be one of them yet he's probably one of the more kinder vampires among them. He has a biologically younger brother who is also a vampire but is currently trying to settle down in a coven of vegetarian vampires and who is together with his best friend Shisui the only person he cares for the most. It has been that way since decades and it is when he goes on a mission to kill some newborns who have been causing troubles that he gets to know someone who throws his world completely around. That person happens to be you, a plainly average citizen in the town he seeks out and mingles with humans. He doesn't do it often, just sometimes to relish in the boring normal life of humans when you pass him by and he happens to breathe in a bit of the addictive and sweet aroma of yours that almost throw him out of his composure.
🍡 It's very strange that this short moment and your scent trigger such strong reactions out of the normally passive man who finds himself just itching to see you again. Still doing his best to figure out where the newborns are hiding, his mind can't help but keep on going back to you as he starts worrying that you might be attacked by the vampires in town. The thought is like a sharp ripple of pain that shoots through his body, a sensation that makes him flinch as he feels the paranoia dwelling up inside of him. What is wrong with him? Needless to say, Itachi soon finds himself additionally tracking you down which isn't hard given that your scent, no matter how weak, pulls him in and refuses to let him go. He often trails behind you from a safe distance, red eyes glued to your form and a weird warmth filling his chest when he catches you smiling or laughing. It's rare for him to feel such joy and peace, the closest thing that compares is when he sees Shisui or can visit his brother.
🍡 The fear that you might be assaulted by the newborns unfortunately turns out to become reality one day when he has finally caught the track of them and trails after them. When the wind picks up and changes it's trajectory, he feels icy shock piercing his heart when he smells a mixture of you and your own sweet blood from the direction where the newborns are headed for. His composure is seemingly forgotten as he starts dashing with inhumane speed after them and your smell, his plan to silently follow them and to avoid to have them notice him all forgotten. He arrives there just in the nick of time to brutally rip one of the vampires away from you who was just seconds previously feeding from you, tearing his head off in the process. Not that he cares. The rest of them are pissed and about to attack him, clearly uninformed of who he is or otherwise they wouls shake in terror right now. Not that that would change anything. He doesn't plan to let them survive anyways. Not anymore.
🍡When you regain your consciousness, you're in an unknown place, your neck stinging and your head pounding with a miserable headache. You need a while to try to remember what has happened, when it does though, you instantly sit up, your fight or flight instinct kicking in. As soon as you do though, pain erupts in your neck, a certain spot burning with searing agony that it knocks the air out of your lungs. That's when Itachi appears and presses you down as gently as he can, encouraging you to lay down and rest. Hazy and tear-filled eyes meet his red ones and he knows instantly why you stiffen up and start kicking around. You think that he's also going to hurt you. His attempts to soothe you, to reassure you that he won't harm you fly over your head as your survival instincts kick in and he's left with no choice but to use his gift on you to make you lose your consciousness again, swallowing the thirst down when the wound reopens and blood stains the bandages he attained to stop the bleeding. You're his mate. You have to be with the way he completely lost control over himself and killed them. He just hopes the leaders will understand and you will forgive him eventually for taking you with him. Now that he's found you, he can't be without you.
Naruto Uzumaki
🍜 Naruto would definitely be the type to join a coven that is living of a diet of animal blood, he never wanted to be turned into a vampire in the first place. It was all an accident where the vampire decided to take pity on him as Naruto was close to being dead when he was found. The boy is doing his best to make the best out of his existence as a vampire now though. All of his compassion and kindness aside, Naruto is greatly gifted though to the point where the Akatsuki reached out to him and asked him to join them to which he declined though. He could never imagine killing innocent humans and deceiving them as the Akatsuki do and he could never imagine leaving his Coven either since they have become his family. They've recently moved to a new and loudy place to attend a school only to move away a few years later again. It's in this school that Naruto finds the great love of his life. The moment he catches a glimpse of you, he's already smitten.
🍜 Naruto is quite beloved in your year since he's optimistic, sweet and kind so you just assume that he's acting like he normally does when he approaches you and kindly greets you, a bright sparkle in his eyes. He's walking you to your class and even wants to see which courses he shares with you and to his great happiness, he shares almost all of them with you. What you just take as his kindness, you soon find out is actually quite a bit more than what he ususally does. Apparently despite being very helpful and kind, he always sticks to his two other adopted siblings, Sakura and Sasuke. You're the first one he seeks out as actively as he does and when you find that out, you can't help but start feeling a bit weird now that you sort of see his actions with a new light. He seems very clingy, always waits for you so you two can walk together to his courses and sometimes even attempts to ask you to sit with him during lunch only for Sasuke and Sakura to stop him for reasons you have yet to understand.
🍜Sasuke is quite pissed with how much Naruto involves you in his life, reminds him harshly that you're only a human whilst they are vampires. Sakura at the very least is a bit more understanding but she also expresses her concern regarding Naruto's hyperfixation on you. Their words hurt him, also because he knows that they are right and that you live in a completely different world than them, but he doesn't want to hear it nontheless. He just can't bring himself to leave you alone as he feels so drawn to you. You're always on his mind and when he isn't with you, he feels antsy and anxious. It has gotten so bad that he has even attempted to follow you home only to be stopped by his two friends who dragged him back home where he had to explain himself in front of Tsunade who has taken the role of their foster parent. She is also quite pissed when she hears what he has done but when Naruto starts frantically explaining himself, a look of realization crosses her face.
🍜 Perhaps it isn't a very good idea to tell Naruto about the concept of mates though because this is what fully turns him delusional and suddenly he isn't listening to anyone anymore. You're his mate, you're the love of his life and that knowledge fills Naruto with indescribable amounts of joy. He always knew that it was you! Sakura and Sasuke are left with no choice but to just let him do what he wants to do as he has started reacting slightly more aggressive nowadays when they tried to make him control himself around you at least a bit. For you the situation isn't any better as Naruto has become downright suffocating and his sweetness unbearable. It doesn't take a genius to realize that he has a big crush on you but that just makes it worse. Whenever you try to tell other classmates of yours that his clinginess is a bit scary, they always take his side because he's such a sweet boy for you and you just don't seem to realize how lucky you are. It leaves you utterly alone, alone with Naruto that is who remains blind to your discomfort. It all goes over his head as he's too focused on the fact that you're his lovely mate than to open his eyes and realize that you don't feel the same. Maybe it's better this way.
Sasuke Uchiha
💙 Sasuke has known Naruto and Sakura long before they joined Tsunade and her coven of vampires who feed of off animals but he joined them way later. The idea of not drinking human blood was too much of a stretch for him to comprehend at that time since he was quite arrogant back then. He still is but not as much as he used to be...maybe. It's only when he found out that his brother, who he had believed to be dead up until that point, was part of the notorious Akatsuki that he found some peace and in fact his brother even encouraged him to go back to his friends, live a peaceful and quiet life. That's what has led Sasuke to this point in his life, the last year of yet another school. This time things are a bit different though as a new student joins them this year and since there is only one seat left next to him, you have to sit down next to him. Usually Sasuke always insists on sitting alone, not only because it's more comfortable but also because he's still relatively new with the new diet.
💙 Your scent is far beyond what he has been fearing though as the sheer sweetness of it almost overwhelms him and makes it hard for him to focus on anything else besides you. He keeps throwing glances at your form, eyes travelling back and forth between your face and your neck, his throat burning. It gets so bad that he abruptly leaves the class and doesn't return, leaving you highly embarrassed and with the bitter determination that you will never think good about such an asshole. Unfortunately you share more than half of your courses with him and in almost all of them you're forced to sit next to him, doing his best to show him your coldest shoulder as you ignore him. Sasuke takes notice of that and for unexplainable reasons your behavior drives him mad as you treat him like air. He wants your eyes on him, all your focus and your attention on him and on no one else. He often finds his eyes following you around, a searing wrath shooting through him when he sees you laughing and smiling at someone else. Why do you waste your time with such idiots?
💙 You are literally unable to figure out what this guy is thinking when he suddenly tries to spark awkwardly conversations with you during classes or sometimes just walks up to you, frighteningly often when you are with someone else and have a good time. He has such a scary look in his eyes that almost everyone always leaves you quickly. Sasuke himself doesn't understand what he's doing, it's like he's acting on an unknown instinct as he starts growing possessive over you and scares away anyone you talk with, ruining your chances to befriend anyone. The only ones he tolerates around you are Sakura and Naruto and even then he tends to feel the hot jealousy boiling inside his chest if you pay more attention to them than to him. He has no right to act as entitled as he does and he doesn't even know why he's feeling that way but he can't stop it anymore as it only seems to get worse by the day. He scares you by now, his eyes sharp and heavy whenever he catches you around someone else.
💙 It takes some time for Sasuke to come to terms with everything currently going on inside of him but he realizes it after a while all by himself. You must be his mate, he recalls that he heard stories about it during his time before the coven. Up until now though, he always thought that it was some sort of lovesick fantasy. It apparently isn't and when he finds that out, he becomes only worse. He tells you very abruptly one day that you too are a couple from now on since the thought of you being with someone else makes him sick and he gives you no chance to even protest, just silences you with a rough kiss and silently threatens you to just do as he says. You do as he says, far to terrified of the man who has gone unhinged now that he knows that you're his mate. He isn't affectionate in public but he is possessive and controlling, you're never allowed to meet anyone besides him and sometimes his two adopted siblings and if you want to go somewhere, you always have to tell him so he can tag along. This just screams toxic and his coven tries to tell him that too but Sasuke reacts aggressive as soon as they try to interfere. If they even attempt to separate you from him, he will leave with you.
Sakura Haruno
🌸 Sakura belongs to Tsunade's coven and was after Shizune the first one to join the lady. She brought Naruto eventually with her and eventually even Sasuke joined them, although hesitantly. She's happy with that though since those two have been really good friends of hers during her time as a human. Lady Tsunade is a role model for her as she was one of the first vampires who started the diet of drinking animal blood instead of human blood and even works as a doctor in a hospital in the town they're currently staying in. Sakura, who has kept her compassion for humans even decades after having become a vampire, is actually also a skilled medic but has to wait until her graduation before she can start studying to become a doctor, again. She's known as the smart and stubborn albeit also sweet girl among the school. Yet similar to Naruto and Sasuke, she also keeps her distance since she still has the big secret that she is a vampire. Her darling is about to test her though.
🌸 From the first moment your sweet scent invades her nostrils and her green eyes meet yours, she's starstruck, unable to tear her gaze away from yours. It's only when Naruto nudges her in her ribs that she snaps out of it for a bit, blinking confused and noticing the odd sensation swirling around inside her chest. There's this weird need to get to know you better so she introduces herself to you very quick, telling you that she hasn't seen you around here before and using the fact that you're new as an excuse to talk to you. You're really cute though, clearly a bit flustered when she, the somewhat popular girl, suddenly converses with you. From that day on her eyes always wander to you, no matter where she is. The moment you are within her field of vision, she can only really focus on you and nothing else. This isn't something that normally happens as she starts daydreaming to the point where the teachers call her out, slightly confused with this new turn of events.
🌸 Every chance Sakura gets to spend time with you, she uses. She always encourages you to sit next to her in different classes and if you struggle with any of the stuff, she's always willing to help you to the best of her abilities. She can afford to be that close to you since her self-control when it comes to the smell of blood is one of the best in her coven, she was trained by Shizune and Tsunade after all. Being surrounded by your scent in general is just a blissful feeling though as the aroma threatens to pull her in and she was a couple of times already that close to just hiding her head in the crook of your neck and inhaling your sweet scent only to hold herself back in the last second to not scare you away. At the same time she is trying to figure out why she's the only one who finds your scent so addictive and why she feels such a strong attachment to you. She talks about it with Tsunade who is able to give her an answer. Apparently Sakura has found her mate in you.
🌸 She'd probably do the same as Naruto and sort of glorify her obsession as she turns a tad bit more delusional. She just can't stop thinking about how perfect you two would be together now that she actually knows that you're her mate. That also means that she becomes a lot more protective over you. When you attend classes and she can sense and smell that you're sick, she instantly ushers you to take the day off. Don't worry, she'll make notes for you and send you everything so that you won't miss anything important. She's acting so sweet to you that the whole campus sort of confuses you two as a couple, something that only you seem to deny as Sakura feels flattered when she hears that people think that you two would make a sweet couple. There's also a slight increase of jealousy though as her eyes turn poisonous when she sees someone else trying to get too close to you, although she will always smooth her expression when you glance in her direction, noticing that your counterpart is glancing nervously at someone behind you. If she has darker impulses, she always tries to hide them from you. You're meant to be hers anyways, she can wait a bit.

WAIT I ACCIDENTALLY PRESSED SUBMIT WKDNNDKSKKD.
My bad, I don’t know what to do… 😭 😭
Uhh, I’ll just continue you off here… (I’m so sorry).
Ahem. Mahito. My sworn enemy. Murderer of the love of my life. I will never ever forgive— but, oh gosh, why is his voice so… AHEM. I got distracted.
Mahito said this one thing that piqued my interest. Don’t remember the exact words but it was something along the lines of: “I’m grateful to you.” So interesting. We talked a lot about how gratitude was one of Nanami’s motivations, how it gave him purpose. And it came from the innocent/weak and his comrades. But this is coming from a curse 😬
I can’t really give an explanation as to why… because his interaction with Nanami led him to discovering domain expansion? Is that it?? I guess Mahito growing stronger is something he gets off of, the thrill of it and also identity shenanigans, but I do not spend time pondering over my mortal enemies 😁 (Just kidding… here I am… intrigued by Mahito and his stupidly cute voice… I still hate him… I can’t help but wonder… ugh)
The reason I find this so interesting is how at the end, Mahito is stronger than Nanami. When Mahito ends Nanami, I doubt that he remembers or acknowledges any of the gratitude back then. Specifically because he said to Yuji, “I’ll probably forget you in the future too.” Gratitude to Mahito is meaningless. I think that also just shows how different curses are from humans. Gratitude plays such a big part for a lot of human happiness. But not for curses.
I found Mahito’s philosophy very interesting, the way that he saw everything as pointless which led to him doing whatever he wanted to do. Which is killing people (my beloved 😭) and propelling the endless cycle of war between curses and humans. It reminds me of nihilism sorta kinda maybe IDK. Again, I just haven’t given it much thought because he’s Mahito…
Ah, you know what. This reminds me of Attack on Titan (🥸). Marleyans vs. Eldians. Each side is fighting for survival, so they can have their own world. They wanted the same things, have their own peaceful world, but it just so happened that they were on opposing sides with a long history of violence and racism. Same thing with curses and humans. They both want to occupy the world, live their own lives, but they just can’t coexist. Mahito doesn’t see any side as right or wrong. His choices and decisions are based on impulse and desire. The lack of empathy is what makes him realllly different from Eren but I think the vision is very similar. They both stick to one side and fight for it because that’s the side they were born into. It’s so cool how there are overlapping themes of endless cycles. Like either with humanity against curses or a divided humanity against itself.
In conclusion, I feel very frustrated, confused, mad, and intrigued about Mahito. UGH. How dare he have an amazing VA and also cause so much pain and suffering. UNFAIR. CRUEL. I dislike him but I don’t. Would I have disliked him more if I only read the manga and he never had a voice? 😐😑😐
(Side note, I also realized ep 13 was when Nanami actually actually acknowledged Yuji as a sorcerer. Now I have to draw more Papamin. Sigh. I swear, everytime the topic of Nanami is brought up, it evokes a physically sigh from me.)
Sighing to sign off,
courtney 💜💜
Hi @courtneedsleep ! I am the world's biggest procrastinator, both in the way you mentioned and with regards to work I don't like/have little interest in. When it comes to series, absolutely! I put things off when I know I will enjoy them. I have a whole list of shows (anime included) that I know are brilliant and have been putting off for some time now, all because I know I will love them and want to savour them properly!
So, essentially, I don't know when I will end up watching Paranoia Agent, Odd Taxi or From the New World, but I know I'll love them 🤭
I've actually been re-watching some of season 1 myself (ah, simpler times) and Mahito is genuinely such an excellent character (as much as I want to do unspeakably horrible things to him).
Mahito initially came across, to me, as something of a contradiction. He was evidently born from human folly, and shows great delight in manipulating and tormenting humans, as he does with Junpei. You could almost say that he uses humans in the same way that sorcerers use cursed tools. That's what they are to him. Tools to be used to further the ends of cursed spirits.
This is where Mahito struck me as being truly dangerous: his fight with Nanami. He comes across (as Nanami comments) as fickle, sadistic, immature, barely aware of the impact of his own actions and with the air of a child playing with and destroying their toys. What is doubly terrifying is the power that he possesses, leaving others at the mercy of his whim.
Mahito's power is also terrifying and, from my initial perspective, almost inappropriate for a cursed spirit like him. He is able to accurately perceive the soul, in spite of being an 'immature' spirit, and downright psychopathic (by human standards). His power, like you said, is heavily instinctual and relies on his reading of a moment, emotions or the way a person responds to things.
The moment when he 'thanks' Nanami also stands out to me. It's almost like a child thanking their parent for a new plaything, something that might increase their status or bargaining power on the playground. Naturally, the child won't remember that act of gratitude for long, over the pleasure that their possession brings, or the manner in which they use it. That's going by the standard of regular children, of course, and Mahito is anything but regular, let alone human.
When Mahito eventually kills Nanami, he feels nothing of normal human gratitude. As far as he is concerned, Nanami has played his part, has helped him achieve more power, and can now be disposed of like all of the other human 'tools' as a means of furthering the cause of cursed spirits.
Yes. Pretty callous and inhumane overall. As expected. But then, Mahito subverted my expectations. As the series progressed, I began to see what you described; the attachment to his comrades, declaring a clear purpose for cursed spirits on earth, bringing about the return of Sukuna, and creating a new reality beneficial to cursed spirits overall. Very similar to the Marleyans and Eldians, this shows two species that are determined to carve a place for themselves in the world, to declare their right to exist, but also not able to tolerate the existence of each other.
Mahito suddenly displayed characteristics that were so much more human. I could no longer think of him as 'just another capricious curse' with no real understanding of the havoc he caused. His attachments to his own comrades spoke very clearly of that fact that he understood just how sadistic and terrible his actions were, they were just directed at humans, and so, he simply didn't care.
He was able to be so carefree not because he was totally unhinged, but because he saw humans the way humans saw curses. If we think of it from that perspective, he killed Nanami, just as Nanami exorcised cursed spirits.
Is there therefore a difference between him and Nanami, as viewed from either side? Fundamentally, yes. Nanami is shown to offer comfort and compassion to transformed humans, even as he has to take their lives. He understands all too well the weight of taking lives; Mahito does not.
This is all too clear when he prioritizes taking out Nobara, someone who's technique is a direct threat to him. Mahito suddenly learns what mortal peril feels like, what it means to be on the receiving end. Unlike Nanami, who truly did expect to meet his death as a sorcerer, and fully understood the risks, Mahito was still a child playing in an adult world, albeit, a horrendously powerful and dangerous child.
It's also extremely clear later (I won't spoil things, because I'm not exactly certain where in the show you are) that he is terrified of Yuuji's single-minded pursuit of him and desire to eradicate what he represents. Mahito does learn the true meaning of fear, he does come to understand the weight of lives, he does come to understand his own smallness on the scale of things. As philosophical as he came across, he applied those concepts very narrowly, and in ways that were heavily prejudiced by his own conception as a cursed spirit.
Mahito is such a great character, a truly adaptable and ever-evolving antagonist, and he's just delectably detestable, isn't he?
(Side note: It WAS the first time Nanami acknowledged him as a sorcerer! Proud Nanamin. 😭 I love that he's so caring and compassionate to Yuuji without ever overstepping the bounds of what he believes is true. He won't give praise where it's not deserved. He's not a sentimental man given to overt displays of affection. He's blunt to a fault. Which makes the occasions where he DOES acknowledge the students so much more meaningful and precious).

Tell me about your Link Click boys and why you ship them!💜🥰
Aw, thanks for this ask, friend! I'm so excited to discuss my Link Click OTP, Shiguang (Cheng Xiaoshi x Lu Guang).
If you're unfamiliar with this show, it's an animated Chinese show. Cheng Xiaoshi (black haired one) and Lu Guang (white haired one) are time travellers. Their abilities are centred around the use of photographs. I won't say anything more because I don't want to spoil the series. What I will say is the show is AMAZING and I highly recommend it. So far, there are two seasons + cute little shorts. A third season is on the way soon.
Anyways, in my ask I'm going to keep things vague because I don't want to spoil anything major. There will be minor spoilers though, so be wary!
Things I like about Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang/ Why I ship them
Their friendship is instantly believable
Even if I didn't ship them, the two have amazing chemistry throughout the series. Their teasing, joking, fighting, worry, etc. all come off natural. It's immediately clear at the beginning they're close/trust one another. They naturally reveal more about their friendship throughout the series, but I love that I didn't need a ton of episodes to go "Yeah, they're obviously close".
I love their character dynamic
A slight side to my prior point, I am always a fan of the "happy, go lucky, slightly impulsive one" paired with the "calm, slightly more stoic one". It's always a great pairing of character and helps create fun tension or comedy.
Their time travel powers are unique (Mild Spoilers)
Time travel is one of my favourite tropes in media, so I've seen it done many times over. However, I think Link Click has one of the most unique. I'm in love with how their powers compliment one another. Alone their powers are strong but together their powers are a force to be reckoned with. The idea that both need the other to function properly makes me very happy. I always appreciate when people with supernatural powers have complimentary powers.
They're Ying and Yang Coded
Look, you got me Link Click. You put together a white haired boy with a black haired boy, added some amazing character chemistry, and made them super close friends. You made it so their powers are complimentary and work the best when they're a team. You added layers of "I don't know what you're doing but I have to trust you" to their time travel element. Honestly, it would be a miracle if I didn't fall for Shiguang as a ship.
Cheng Xiaoshi canonically calls Lu Guang handsome
My man is just openly admitting TO LU GUANG'S FACE he thinks Lu Guang is handsome in episode two?? Uh, excuse you, sir??
Their first meeting has "Meet Cute Vibes"
The lighting! The music! The entire way it's animated! That's a scene out of a shoujo anime.
The ending of Season Two
I'm not going to spoil anything for anyone. There is so much I could say about how the season two ending solidified Shiguang as my ship. However, I want people to enjoy the show without spoilers. This post I reblogged accurately sums up my thoughts though.
And there you have it, friend! I hope you enjoyed my thoughts! I cannot wait to watch this anime with you! On top of all the other anime I want to watch with you ahaha...

heyy! could i request 🫶 for thg girls?
i'm lesbian, and i go by she/her but i don't mind she/they either. <3 i'm an infj, but i'm sometimes quite impulsive...(like the time i ate orbeez...they do NOT taste nice), and i can be a bit random and energetic, but usually I'm quite calm.
I like being hugged and cuddled- especially when someone squeezes me! but not too tight or i'll cry in SPD discomfort 😭. i'm usually quite nice to people, because i find it hard to be rude. i've been told that i'm really kind from most people i know, which makes me quite happy. I have quite a lot of activities (music club, maths tutoring, which is VERY needed, school play rehearsals and musical theatre lessons). I can't sleep without my blankets or cuddling up to my stuffed animals, even though it sounds babyish. I like to walk in fields and meadows! i play acoustic guitar and write songs! I like reading, mainly books like THG, the chronicles of narnia, and harry potter (my favourite character is luna, who i'm a lot like, so I've been told). I sometimes like to drawn and write stories too! I'm half-hispanic on my papa's side and love celebrating día de los muertos, especially for his late father, he passed before I was born, but still. i love music, mainly taylor swift and olivia rodrigo! sometimes i play games, mainly minecraft or roblox :p. when I'm comfortable around someone, I cuddle or rest close to them and don't feel scared to sing in front of them like I do most people (i love singing but have no confidence). i love dogs, cats (scottish folds are my babies), penguins, birds and koalas :D
i feel like I'm ranting, so I'll end it off here! sorry its so long and thank you! <3 💜🩷
babes never be afraid to rant!! i love learning about all my anons and followers! i feel like you would be such a good fit with lucy gray! both your interests line up and i see you vibing with her so much <33

💜 for the ask meme!
💜 surprise kiss / impulsive kiss
(modern au Theil and Astarion!)
"...But she can't seem to reach Alicia at all! She just wants to form Friends with her again, but Alicia is so focused on serving her country while they're lost to despair that she can't bring herself to return to Aikatsu!"
Theil has been going on about the same anime for 3. Hours. And even though Astarion hasn't processed a word of it, they can't help but notice how adorable Theil looks when they ramble. Their tail wagging behind them, the way their magic sparkles...
Before they can say another word, she grabs their face, shoving her lips against theirs and smirking when their shock finally shuts them up and they look at her look a confused puppy.
"...You talk too damn much, sometimes."

You have multiple trademarks!! (Which I have shouted to you before and will do again and again 🤣)
Inducing empathy™️ you are bananas-good at creating a slightly worrying level of empathy with the character whose POV you're writing from (even the toxic-sludge-given-form that is Jamie's "dad" which was a terrifying brain-moment of realisation)
Rising and breaking tension™️ okay so this is a thing I was only just able to realise I can express with words! I've rambled to you about your skill in creating rising anxiety with your writing before BUT it was only after I spent half an hour silently crying when I finished 'Tell Me Something True' yesterday that I clocked it isn't just the rising tension/anxiety that always gets me, but also how and when you break it. Maximum emotional devastation inflicted!
Whiplash™️ you are able to create these almost unsettling feelings of whiplash in the way you use both pacing and plot progression. It also means that the moments of 'hurt' in your writing are elevated by the 'comfort' and vice versa
Animal metaphors™️ self-explanatory really! And the way you use them is so skilful and feels so honest
(I don't want to jinx you but your trademark is low-key also 'it has spawned another chapter' 🤣)
💚💚💚
thank you!!! i have read this and also all your lovely comments many times 🩵💙💜
i love figuring out how characters think and their internal logic, even — or especially — when they're not good people or are making bad decisions. my approach to plotting and tone and all that is 40% planning and 60% using the force so it's lovely to hear that the tension and tone and the switch between the tense moments and the softer/more lighthearted ones works as a (semi-intentional) artistic choice
animal metaphors! did not start doing it on purpose but i have embraced it. also my fics spawning additional chapters is... accurate 🤣🤣 (i'm not saying this will definitely happen but i'm having the impulse to write a jamie-pov version of tell me something true)
