ooo y'all are gonna hate me for this one, but i'll say it anyway: i don't really see the appeal of ste/ddie. and before you come for my throat, i say this bc the fandom has fuckin' fetishized it SO MUCH that it's hard for me to wrap my head around it. if people could write it without being GROSS, i'd be fine, but it's always written in some "pls daddy, i'll be a good little boy" way which is like- why??? and if that's your kink, cool, idc, but it's when shit like that is purposely written to fetishize m/lm ships that i have a problem with it.

it's also when those fetishy shippers demonize women like n/ancy and c/hrissy and post horrible shit about them in their tags that have me go 'yeah, ain't touching that'. or when they shit on other ships with s/teve and e/ddie bc that's just rude.

all this to say, i could ship it if it was written in a way that isn't fetishy or ooc bc truly, i could see the appeal if given enough effort and chemistry that isn't 'm/lm good. women bad. ooga ooga'.

and it isn't just ste/ddie. this could go for any m/lm ship in this fandom. i was just using them as an example. i love m/lm ships when they're written well and not in a "i'm a cis straight girl who think two men having sex is so hot" kinda way.

anyway, ship what you want. i respect you and your ship. i'm not trying to step on anyone's toes, i just want ships like ste/ddie to be written with respect, not fetishy, and not ooc, that's all, thanks.

it's wild to me that people will insist that it's ok for you to take breaks from rp and for you to ship what you want and that you don't have to be chronically online bc they'll still be there! buuuuut then you take a break from rp or you pop online to post ooc a little or talk about a ship you like and the next thing you know, the same people who insisted that it's ok for you to put your mental health first have dropped you. so which is it? are you allowed to take breaks and have people not forget about you, or do you have to be online constantly so people won't leave you by the wayside?

and don't get me started on how stupid i think it is that people feel like in order for others not to drop them they have to kiss ass. you shouldn't have to shower someone in attention / compliments for them to want to be around you bc if they are like that, they aren't worth keeping around.

but all this to say: treat your rp partners good. don't be a fucking dickhead or alternatively, don't feel like you have to suck their toes in order for them to like you. if they're gonna stick around they will. but either way: the rpc needs to do better with not dropping someone like it's hot just bc they have to take mental health breaks or need to step away from his hellscape of a fandom for a bit.

listen, maybe it's just me but idk why people think popularity is the pinnacle of the rp experience. who the FUCK cares if everyone loves you? who cares about having a million followers? shit sounds like it'd be overwhelming af to me, but time and time again, people will flock to a blog (typically one with a hot white male muse) and vie for their attention just bc said hot white male muse blog gets a lot of traction. that's lame. you should write with someone bc you like them, their muse, their writing, something- not bc they're "popular".

and i'll hit y'all with a cold, hard truth: tumblr popularity don't mean SHIT in the real world. if you tell the average joe that you're "popular" on tumblr, they'd look at you like "bitch idek what tf that is." it won't make you special in any capacity.

tumblr rp should be about having fun and enjoying the hobby of writing with people. and besides that, popularity on this hellsite ALWAYS comes with stupid ass drama and who has time for that?

but also- if you're someone who got popular then dropped your friends for the "popular" crowd (that will eventually fall apart bc that's how it goes) you're a loser. end of.

personally, i think it's gross af to ship huge a/ge-gaps, and by this i mean, if you're writing a muse who is 18, fresh out of high school, and are shipping them with someone literally old enough to be their parent? that's gross. like, there's literally no need to ship someone b/renner's age with someone n/ancy's age. literally no reason. he's basically old enough to be her grandpa.

when you ship HUGE a/ge-gaps, there's a gross power imbalance there. it's not cute. it's not hot. it's predatory. please, for the love of GOD ship your muse with someone age appropriate.

s/tancy and h/ellcheer are two very cute ships and i've found that the people who hate on them are typically c/is w/hite women who like to fetishize m/m ships and hate female characters who "get in the way" of their fave white males (no offense to the super chill, cool c/is w/hite women out there) and what's even scarier is to imagine them having children (lord forbid a daughter) bc if they have internalized misogyny THIS BAD i'd hate to see what they'd project onto their daughters. like imagine hating that your ship isn't canon so you feel the need to be vitriolic towards people who like s/tancy and h/ellcheer and the ships themselves lol.

          the  feeling  of  his  lips  on  hers  is  ( thankfully )  enough  to  silence  her,  and  she  can  only  blink  in  surprise  at  him  for  a  moment  before  murmuring,  “ eddie,  i—  what—? ”
