cinnamon - if you had to live in a time period different than the present, which would you choose and where?

Probably the 2010s just where I'm from. Due to politics I've been told it's changed a lot over the years and idk, I felt like I hadn't appreciated it as much as I should. Moving abroad made me really miss the lifestyle there and actually made me realize what I took for granted (walkable city and good public transport orz). I just see it hard to see myself in a different decade or even century because like the norms of our time is so ingrained in us it'd be weird to go to a different time period when all of that was different and try to live like that, plus racism😔😔

pumpkin - do you think that humans are inherently good or bad?

I lean more towards humans are inherently good, I am sort of between blank state or good in regards to the human condition. I feel like the most influential/prevalent argument for humans are inherently bad is Thomas Hobbes' state of nature as a state of war. But I've read and studied Judith Butler recently and a point they made kind of made me rethink this "state of nature" idea.

In one of their books, Butler argues that the "state of nature is was always a fiction" because it doesn't actually coincide with how we come to exist in the world. This is because in such fantasies “it is as true for Hobbes as it is for Marx, is that the human is from the start an adult”. But we literally come into being as babies, that require support and depend on society and other being to literally survive. So it kind of made me rethink this idea of human nature in a sense. And I think it's a nice shift of perspective even if one is not totally convinced.

you give me the impression you like to have a warm cup of tea in the afternoon while reading a book to relax or to unwind but you get caught up in your reading materials every time, by the time you pause your reading, your mind has been more exhausted than when you began (in a positive way tho, idk how to explain other than your mind jumping back and forth analyzing, seeing similarities or connections in the same reading materials diff chapters or making ties to another author's works that the author youre reading is considered to be/known to be influenced of)

Unfortunately for me, nowadays I have a hard time finding the energy or well capacity (my eyes especially) to read to relax since reading is my degree🥲 But yes this has definitely happened before I do it sometimes if the book speaks to me, with Dorian Gray for example! I heavily annotated my version of the book :)

I also do make connections between my reading materials too if the occasion arises. Lately it's been a lot of... oh this reminds x philosopher I read in a class. I do that too with my actual academic readings. One time I brought it up to my English prof when I was studying Wilde, because I was like some of Wilde’s stuff actually reminds me of Hegel or Nietzsche and he was like yeah Nietzsche and Wilde have some similar ideas but interestingly or sadly enough they were contemporaries so they had never read each other's works due to language barriers.

But I think yeah that does happen! I feel like I'm less likely to connect it back to the author though (unless I know their background already) and lately I've been connecting through theory🤔

And I actually dress a lot in pastels! I literally have so many pink clothes in my closet rn... I mostly wear pinks, whites, blues, sometimes purples and blacks

1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)

45. What’s something you’ve improved on since you started writing fic?

I think I've gotten a bit better at trying to write internal thoughts or monologues or trying to convey certain emotions in characters. It's not something I've explored a lot in the past, like character's inner worlds (as in before writing stuff for bsd). Doing lit classes and analyzing works and trying to understand characters, their thoughts and motivations certainly also helped with developing and trying to replicate such in my own fics. So, I like to think it has gotten a bit better over the two years(?)

I think comics are such an interesting form of storytelling!! I, though admittedly don't really read comics :'), but I can appreciate it! I enjoy being able to the visuals comics bring to storytelling, I love how specific things such as feelings and other elements can be visually conveyed. I also enjoy that unlike manga, comics have colour and one can use colour to affect the mood and storytelling. I feel like the addition of colour alone can really add to things.
