Because Sunday probably ends up thinking that you will be someone who he doesn't have to pretend around, he can be more free around you because you can see through him. I can even see the attraction being platonic at first before turning into something darker.

But because you can see through him, you know that there's something dangerous about him under that ethereal, beautiful appearance. There's no way you're getting yourself involved with that. Sunday simply wants someone he can be real around :')

Azriel also barely knew Elain during the cauldron scene. They had just interacted once. Meanwhile when gwyn gets kidnapped, he had already felt a spark in his chest and they were friends. All of their scenes happen before the blood rite. Yet despite all of the “obvious mate language” he shows no mate behavior. We know that if Elain had been taken, Azriel would’ve reacted the same way Cassian did.

@elrielffs just made a rlly good post on this exact point,

Gwynriel’s point out how there’s mate language between gwynriel (there literally isn’t) however they can’t actually prove gwynriel are mates because Azriel has never once shown any mate instinct towards Gwyn. At what point is the potential bond going to snap for gwynriel? it didn’t snap between them when Gwyn was in danger twice like it did with Feysand & Nessian. So When is Sjm going to start showing us that Az and Gwyn are mates? Bcs here’s the thing:

You have Azriel’s eye fill with rage as he says he will get Elain back. He went to enemy territory- tho it would have been more useful of him to have stayed back and kept himself out of harms way so he could have been in top shape for the war - yet he still went to save Elain. Just like with the BR he could have died - yet did Azriel care? No. He went regardless. All of this was written so impactfully between elriel despite the fact we didn’t have Azriel’s pov - you could feel his determination. You felt his panic when elain was gone & then to get the chains off her.

Compare this to gwynriel w the same stakes: Azriel’s only reaction is his siphons flaring that too - BOTH Emerie & Gwyn were mentioned. Thats it. You tell me, which one is more mate like? Which one is more romantic?

If Sjm is trying to foreshadow gwynriel as mates 1) its a bit too late considering the mate imagery and scenes used already for elriel 2) shes doing a terrible job. The fact you pointed out how he felt the spark in his chest prior to Gwyns kidnapping- and if that was a mate bond coming to life, then his reaction to Gwyn being taken should have been so much more noticeable and strong. Even after, Sjm could have had Azriel rush to gwyns side, checking on her or mention how Az had gone to check up on her when she went back to the library & once again we get nothing.

If Elain had been the one kidnapped- I just know Rhys would have had too physically restrain Azriel from entering the BR. Even then, the men that took her would not be alive.

For darlings who are on the sharper side, I can see them also being compatible with Aventurine/Sunday.

As in those who can see through their social masks, but either: doesn't try to "fix" them or avoids them. If you can see through their social mask it's obvious that being on bad terms or being close to them is a bad idea. I think this also intrigues Aventurine/Sunday and makes them go after their crush.

Hm.. yes, I can see how that'd work with these two.

In Aventurine's case, I think, you would need to make a strong first impression, something that will get him thinking, looking back and prompt him to seek you out despite your obvious disinterest. Aventurine lives for that thrill and anticipation, the risk that comes with chasing you.

It's quite reminiscent to the probability games he's so fond of ; what kind of excuse will you give him today? What drastic measures will you take to avoid engaging in a prolonged interaction? What will your reaction be if he decides to do something you dread? And many more questions he wants to find the answer to. It's like accidentally catching a fish you didn't want and setting it free, except, it just keeps coming back for more of that bait.

Although the same bait can be cast towards Sunday, you could catch his attention without ever having a direct interaction with him as well. Sunday is observant and perceptive. If he takes a liking to you, he'd first yearn for an opportunity for you two to interact naturally. He's a busy man and he'd really like pieces to just fall into place smoothly. But when that doesn't happen and his interest also shows no signs of dwindling, he'd approach you himself with the biggest inhale.

He's quick to pick up on your aversion from the interaction and he gives it his all in trying to appease to you, saying everything that he thinks you expect him to. Honestly, he's quite disheartened by the end of it, he really just wants to get to know you :( Sunday knows to give you space and return at a more auspicious time. Mistake not though, his patience may be vast but not limitless and who knows what a man of his stature can do once snapped.

One thing they have in common is that they'd immediately know what you're trying to do but the difference is that, one will simply ignore it and the other will try to be respectful till he can't anymore.
