you had messed up, big time.

you had been stressed about work and just wanted a night out with your best friend, draco.

between the two of you, life was beyond taxing. you were working tirelessly to keep up at work, anything to prove that you deserved the job. and draco, well, he was being coaxed into marriage he wanted nothing to do with.

once the drinks had settled in, he took you back to his place. that's not where you messed up though. no, it was the next day when you awoke, draco's arms holding you and his legs tangled in yours that you did something horrible.

you left. you left without a word. and then you avoided him, for weeks.

you don't know why you did it. fear, maybe? but in hindsight, you can see it was the wrong choice.

because now, here he stood at your front door, arm around a pretty brunette.

"draco?" you ask, eyes wide.

he smiles at you, "y/n, this is astoria, my fiancée. thought i should stop by and deliver this in person." he says, handing a letter your way.

you give the girl a brief nod before looking back to your friend, "fiancée? sorry i didn't know you were dating anyone."

he shrugs, "didn't want to bother you. i figured you must be busy."

you sigh, but before you can speak, astoria does, "oh, draco, we're late for our cake tasting! we have to be on our way," she turns to you. "it was lovely meeting you, y/n! i'm so happy to have dray's best friend at the wedding."

draco nods at you, "see you at the rehearsal dinner, y/n. the date and time is in that letter."

you go to say something, anything, but they apparate away before you can.

so yes, you had messed up big time.

on the eve of the rehearsal dinner, you're unable to sleep. your head full of worries.

none of it made sense.

why would he suddenly want to marry her?

why did you have to avoid him?

the thoughts plague you through the night, until you decide to go get your answers, directly.

you're second guessing your idea once you actually find yourself right outside draco's house, hand still, as if scared to knock. but your need to know the truth outweighs how nervous you are. so you knock, and in a few moments, the door swings open.

"y/n? what are you doing here?" he asks, eyes half-lidded.

you furrow your brows, "i wanted to say that i'm sorry for what i did to you. i shouldn't have ignored you... i- i was just scared. but draco, i don't understand why you're marrying her? i thought you weren't going to marry anyone? you had already told your parents no."

"things changed." he states.

"but why?" you press.

he groans, "i used her as a rebound after you, and she's nice. she doesn't avoid me afterwards."

you recoil, "a rebound? draco i'm sorry for what i did, i truly am, but you're using some innocent girl to get back at me?"

he goes to fight back but closes his mouth, like he's realizing this for the first time.

"oh god." he sighs.

"draco, you can't marry her. not while you love me."

he scoffs, "you want me to wait for you? who's to say you won't avoid me for weeks again, huh? that's not exactly fair."

"i'm not asking you to wait! i'm here now, aren't i? you can't marry her.. i love you." you exhaust.

"do you mean that?" he asks.

you huff, tired, "of course i mean it, draco."

🌿 who is your favourite character you've ever written?

Damn, that's a hard one! I love all my Benedict characters so so so so much, and I love my OFCs in equal measure. But I'm going to rip the bandaid right off and say it's a tie between Stephen Strange in Of Magic, Miracles, and Moonlight, Professor Hennessy in Scarlett and the Professor, and AU Benedict (a poet and up'n'coming actor) in Whiskey Kisses.

Wow- this is toughie!...

I mean, I am continually doing whatever I can to promote my work unahamedly at every opportunity, but for this my mind goes blank. Soooooooo- I'll say chapter twelve of Of Magic, Miracles, and Moonlight, because I believe it captures the essence of the love that has flourished between Stephen and Teyla, and much of the chapter just flowed from me, organically. Aaaaaaand, I want to say the WIP Scarlett and the Professor - I dare to feel it's some of my best work and that the mix of erotica and unspoken love expressed in Scarlett's and Hennessy's adventurous intimacies is the pinnacle of what I've written thus far.

🍧 weirdest place you've written

Oh, this is cool. A few years ago, a coworker and I had to give depositions regarding a customer "accident" we witnessed. We spent the whole afternoon at the office of the plaintiff's lawyer (giving the actual deposition was a fascinating process!); I went first, and while I waited for my coworker to finish hers, I worked on The One That Got Away in the reception area. (chapter twelve -"for love, thou know'st, is full of jealousy"...if you're interested in checking it out 😏)

🍓 worst thing you've done to your characters

Created a situation where the lovers-to-be (they already are in heart and mind, but not in the flesh) experience mixed/missed signals at a large party; jealousy flourishes, and they both do something extremely regrettable--which leads to futher obstacles for their fulfillment. My poor, dear babies! (that same chapter twelve in The One That Got Away)

👒 nicest thing you've done to your characters?

Whenever any of my couples finally get to consummate their love and/or lust--after either unsuccessfully fighting their feelings, or going through much pining and angst.
