HOTD Original Character Ask Game – Disney Edition! 🏰
I’ve seen many posts about people complaining about “boring HOTD OCs,” so I challenge everyone to put their money where their Disney trivia’s at! Send in a prompt from the list below, and I’ll create a drabble with a unique OC based off the Disney character, like Disney-bounding, but for fanfics~ If you’d like, attach a pairing, a kingdom, or challenge multiple requests together! The characters can be from popular or obscure houses!  I started with female presented characters, mainly because there’s already too many to fit, and some characters were left off for various reasons.  Feel free to reblog and take requests of your own! I’d love to see what everyone can come up with! Reblog and state if you’d want requests from Levels One, Two and/or Three because they get a little wild and crazy. Mwahaa.

( 🌻 ) - :: Shrek/Puss in Boots AU for Eileen.  Yes I’m cursing you all with this. In short she’s tied to the smaller fae that are often hunted for potions or magic, but thanks to some fine handiwork at Fairy Godmother’s factory she was able to escape such fate. However, her contract was destroyed after Godmother’s death, seeking other work by using her talents in potion making to creating herbal remedies and other natural healing items.  Rumor has it she had a fling with Hook, but that’s yet to be proven. As of this moment she mails special packages to returning clients, including Gingey who’s surprisingly into the smell of basil.

Anne Ashberry
The Fairy Godmother of Miniature Gardens
🧚‍♂️🧚‍♀️✨🪴🌹🌸🌻🌵🌱👩‍🌾⛲️
In the marvelous and magical world of miniature gardens, there are few names more revered or influential as Anne Ashberry!
Born as Hannah Annenberg, her Jewish family changed their names and surname to Ashberry to avoid anti-Semitic violence during WWII. Her name has also been misspelled or mis-reported as “Anne Ashbury”.
Tumblr media
Early Years:
Born on March 9, 1894, Anne grew up with a natural affinity for both engineering and gardening. Her early exposure to these innate interests laid the foundation for her remarkable career as the pioneer of miniature container gardening! With her curious mind and keen eye for detail, she began exploring the world of miniature gardens, a realm that would become her enduring passion, after finding herself in a small living space craving the ability to nurture gardens once again.
Tumblr media
She began to build small miniature garden landscapes in her window sills that quickly bloomed into a business of making and selling miniature gardens and terrariums to others, especially disabled gardeners or those who also lived in small flats.
Tumblr media
Pioneering Works:
Anne Ashbury's contributions to the world of miniature gardens were nothing short of groundbreaking. Through her books and articles, she shared her extensive knowledge and innovative ideas, inspiring countless garden and miniature enthusiasts and hobbyists to embark on building and creating their own miniature gardens!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her works became essential references for beginners and experienced gardeners alike, as she carefully detailed techniques, plant choices, and design principles. You can see more photos of her work and some excerpts from her book here and a few pictured below.
Tumblr media
Blending the Art Forms of Engineering and Gardening:
What set Anne Ashberry apart was her ability to blend her engineering expertise with her love for gardening and her problem solving skills when she knew she wanted to garden but had very little space besides her window sills. She approached miniature garden design with a meticulous eye for structure and beauty, incorporating architectural elements that elevated the gardening artform creating what has formed into what we now know as fairy gardens or miniature gardens. Her attention to detail and precision in creating miniature landscapes were unparalleled, resulting in breathtaking container gardens, terrariums, and miniature landscapes that captivated the imaginations of everyone she met and anyone who had the opportunity to see her work with their own eyes! She even created a miniature garden for Queen Elizabeth II while she was still a princess (pictured below- bottom photo).
Tumblr media
The Growing Popularity of Anne Ashberry’s Miniature Landscapes in the 1950’s:
As Anne’s career blossomed, she played a pivotal role in the transformation of miniature gardens into magical fairy gardens we know and love today. Anne thoroughly enjoyed more than just the design and building aspects of miniature gardening. So when her business started growing and she started experiencing difficulties in finding the right mini plants in the quantities that she required, she began propagating on her own, eventually opening her own nursery specialising in alpines and miniature conifers.
In 1952 there was a mini-documentary made about Anne’s miniature gardens by Pathe News that further skyrocketed her into local fame as a miniaturist and the pioneer of a new frontier in miniature container gardening!
Tumblr media
Anne enjoyed further success in 1953 after having the opportunity to have her miniature gardens featured by a soap and perfume manufacturer, Cussons, in an advertising campaign in popular magazines like Tatler and Queen.
Tumblr media
Legacy and Influence:
Anne Ashberry's legacy continues to inspire and guide miniature garden enthusiasts to this day. Her innovative techniques and imaginative designs have become the building blocks for countless miniature landscapes worldwide. The spirit of her work lives on through the gardens created by her admirers, each one a testament to her enduring influence.
Anne Ashberry, who I have proudly named the “Fairy Godmother of Miniature Gardens”, left an inexplicable mark on this hobby. Through her engineering skills, gardening expertise, and boundless creativity and thinking outside-of-the-box -or inside the box I guess, she transformed the art of miniature gardens into a realm of magic and wonder. Her books and pioneering works have paved the way for generations of miniature gardeners to explore their imaginations and create their own whimsical and tiny worlds. As we tend to our own miniature gardens, we can't help but feel gratitude for Anne Ashberry’s lasting contributions and the enchantment she brought into our lives by being on the forefront of the miniature and fairy garden movement!
I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about the woman who founded and pioneered the ancient yet modern twist on container gardening and miniature world landscapes that have transformed into the fairy gardens of today.
May you be blessed by the fairies,

Soft OC asks with cute little emojis: for whomever you please (but especially your 7kpp ladies because I'm 7kpp trash and chomping at the bit for the new build to be out):🌹 🍄 🌻 🥀 (in case they don't send: rose, mushroom, sunflower, weird droopy flower thing(the question about decorating a notebook)) and bonus for you! 💫 (stars or what's your favorite fact about them and why)
Eeee thank you! I have… way too many OCs. This is so long. I’m sorry.
Soft OC Asks
🌹 Where in the world does your OC feel most at home? Is there any reason why? If it’s not the place they were born, where were they born? Is there a certain somebody that makes them feel at home where ever they may be? What does home mean to them?
In filling this out, I realized I almost ALWAYS make my characters ‘home isn’t a place, it’s a feeling’ people. I am Sadly Predictable.
Calanthia, pre-Summit, felt most at home in her friend Aleni’s sitting room, having tea and obliquely talking around Very Dangerous Political Opinions in between sharing, just, ALL the gossip. Why: She likes being challenged, and Aleni is like, 70% of the reason Calanthia’s manipulation stat is Like That. Also, Aleni was basically her fairy godmother (I have an AU where she sponsored Calanthia for the Summit 7 years before the in-game one; she’d have been very young, but of course Revaire would have been in pretty dire straits after having just, y’know, murdered most of their own nobility). She’s also one of those lucky people for whom good friends always feel like home. (But also Jasper feels more like home than anyone else and if the ending ends up being bittersweet she’s going to be homesick for him for the rest of her LIFE.)
Valeriya, pre-Summit, felt most at home in the library at Namaire after her husband died; it was a safe, quiet place where she could shut out the world and then escape even more by diving into a book. After the Summit, she feels most at home in the library with Lyon, probably with her head on his shoulder while they companionably ignore each other from 0 inches away, and then they break for tea to discuss and/or debate what they’ve just read. She has literally never been so happy in her life and initially assumes she’s coming down with something and the constant light-headed euphoria is a symptom. She’s such a grumpy hedgehog introvert that Lyon is the first and only person she has ever met who she likes better than being alone.
Nisha felt most at home at her mother’s right hand, helping out with Plots. (Nothing too dangerous, because her mother kept her out of anything that might attract the attention of enemies above her weight class.) She also feels very satisfied and homey and connected with a community of like-minded people when she is punishing Blain for whatever he’s done that month, because she invariably recruited a small army to help her enact her revenge. I suspect none of this changes after she is married except that she occasionally stages dramatic retellings for Zarad’s benefit, fully aware that he already knows all the details – but he hasn’t heard her version, and her version is invariably MUCH funnier than whatever his spies relayed (and probably much less truthful, but it’s more entertaining and that is the important part).
Demetria feels most at home when she’s at Holt, which is part of the reason she’s absolutely determined (at first) not to catch feelings; no matter HOW in love she is, she would sooner give up getting married than give up her home, and Wellin’s one of the more patriarchal 7KPP countries so it’s reasonable for her to assume any husband she might get would expect to take control of her holdings. Holt is her life, and also everything she has left of her father, and she will only relinquish it when she is very, very dead. (No, really; she has one helping of manipulation and I maintain that literally all of it is from writing just, the most incredibly, profoundly, VICIOUSLY litigious and twisty and outright evil will she can manage, which will leave the whole thing tied up in limbo being overseen by people she trusts for at least three years even if she gets assassinated. She feels very smug about this, when the Summit immediately tries to murder her.)
🍄 What are your OCs favourite snacks? Their favourite comfort food which always cheers them up when they’re down? Favourite meal to make? Do they enjoy baking and cooking and are they any good in the kitchen?
Nisha LOVES dried dates (and anything else sweet, honestly, but dates especially, because they are both delicious and easy to hide in your pocket).
Cadence, my Sheltered Princess, does not START with food preferences (none she’s willing to disclose; her life at court gave her a deeply unhealthy relationship with food) or any cooking ability whatsoever, but learns to love baking. Going to Corval introduces her to the idea of using SPICES in baking, which just makes it EVEN BETTER.
Eris (SWtOR Bounty Hunter) LOVES spicy food and cooks things that probably break the Geneva convention when she’s stressed or upset or thinking very hard, because she was basically adopted by a Mandalorian when she was a feral teenager and now it’s Comfort Food.
Ameneth Lavellan likes ice cream. I maintain that the Dalish have ice cream and sorbet, because they have mages always around using magic for practical things that benefit their community, and also I love the idea of a Dalish Inquisitor just going, ‘oh, a familiar summer treat!’ when offered the Rare Orlesian Delicacy. (Does she know that it is a rare delicacy to the shems? Yes, she read the briefing Josie gave her. Is she being blase about it to rub it in that her people are more complicated than anyone gives them credit for? Also yes.) (The Inquisition definitely has an ice cream social in the summer after she teaches all the other mages how to make it; there’s probably like twenty flavors on offer, only about five of which are horrifying.)
🌻 What little things do they notice about people or the world around them that make them happy? What tiny little treasures do they find in the normal every day that makes the world seem a little brighter for them?
Valeriya mostly doesn’t like people? But pretty much everything about Lyon delights her. The way he sees straight through literally everyone, and tries so hard to be a good person, and (especially, always) the fact that he still thinks so WELL of her.
Calanthia is usually adept at finding things to delight her, even if it’s just the way the shadows are falling, or the salt-spray scent on the breeze, or a crisp autumn morning, or the fragrant steam wafting off her tea.
🥀 How would your OC decorate a notebook or journal? What kind of things are written in there? Could you give an example of a nice entry?
Calanthia doodles silly pictures and most of her entries sound superficial and bubble-headed and then occasionally she hides a sentence or two amidst the chatter that are in cipher and contain more serious thoughts. She starts a fresh journal for the Summit and opens by lamenting having been called a nasty spider by a member of her own delegation. For the rest of the Summit, she draws her self-insert illustration as a tiny orb-weaver in a little shawl, partly because she’s making light of it and partly because she does intend to be industrious and useful while she’s there - very like a garden spider. The little comics add to the superficial impression that she is not a serious person, especially since they’re the most eye-catching part of the whole thing. She is a little more liberal with her insights as the Summit goes on and she comes to trust that her staff isn’t spying on her and that no one else is peeking at her journal; nothing dangerous to other people makes it in there in anything more than very oblique references or little mnemonics, but she’s more honest about her goals and less performatively bird-brained. (I’m pretty sure her mother read her journal when she was growing up, hence the distracting elements and the writing of anything remotely serious in code.)
💫What is your favourite fact about this character and why?
Calanthia got her public speaking skill by telling stories to her sisters. I just think that’s adorable, and it makes me smile.
Valeriya is somtimes a little grumpy about how much EASIER her life would be if she lost about eight more moral fibers and went full-tilt evil right up until she meets Lyon, whereupon she is SO GRATEFUL that she stayed just shy of a moral event horizon that would have meant he couldn’t ever have let himself like her. I love internal conflict.
Cadence is named after a My Little Pony character. I still find this HILARIOUS.
Nisha came to the Summit essentially as a chaos agent; she is there to have fun and hear gossip and cause solve problems on purpose, and then intended to go home to her mother. This makes the fact that she’s a super-delegate who achieves All The Things MUCH funnier.
