“Well…you’re talking to the result of such an experiment,” Kaito admits. “Or more like…the result of a series of such experiments.” he adds in a quieter tone, finding that his boots are more interesting at the moment.

“I…don’t really know the exact details myself since it happened when I was young, but looking back, I think those researchers were trying to see if it was possible to create more Resonators, or as close to one as possible.” Kaito explains, allowing his words to sink in for a while.

“I was told that I was lucky to have lived so long and not have any other bad effects than sensory overload.”

[‘He doesn’t need to know about the mental breakdowns.’ Kaito tells himself.]

“The doctors believe that my Forte-awakening negated the other potential side effects.”

[‘Who knows what other hidden side effects there are.’ he adds cynically in his mind.]

“I guess those low-lives somewhat achieved their goal in the end.” Kaito laughs bitterly, his empty hand digging hard into the rock they sat on.

Upon hearing Jiyan’s question, Kaito looks to him in surprise before his eyes soften, grateful for Jiyan’s sympathy.

“Those guys are long dead. No one will be experimenting on any more people for sure.” Kaito reassures Jiyan, his hand moving to pat Jiyan’s shoulder.

Jiyan listens closely, his jaw tightening and his nostrils flaring slightly as he processes Kaito's words. His fists clench momentarily, the knuckles turning white, but his face remains composed, a byproduct of his discipline as a general and a medic.

“Kaito,” he begins, his voice calm but edged with a controlled intensity, “I can't even begin to imagine what you've been through. The fact that you endured such horrific experiments and came out the other side speaks volumes about your strength.” His muscles tense under the weight of his barely contained anger, but he keeps his tone steady, focusing on Kaito.

“You’re right; those researchers are gone, and no one will ever put you or anyone else through that again,” Jiyan assures him, his gaze steady and unwavering. “But what they did to you is unforgivable. If there’s any justice, it’s in the fact that you’ve survived and become stronger despite them.”

Jiyan’s hand moves to cover Kaito’s where it digs into the rock, his touch firm but gentle. “I cannot fathom what you've been through. But if you ever need a friend to listen to your story, I will be here." His eyes lock onto Kaito’s, a silent promise of support and solidarity. “You’re not alone in this, and you never will be.”

He was in the midst of swimming to a safe spot to relax for a bit, free of cuddly otters and playful Blubberbeasts when he heard a voice call to him. Oh no. He turned slightly, spotting the teenager and tensing up.

Would he be recognized if he spoke? Well, he wouldn’t guess so with how his voice was currently all squeaky, shifting to swim back slightly, nervous about the teenager… There wasn’t really point in lying right now, “I… Am… yes,” He nodded, shifting and looking around. Sovereigns help him, “Is… there something I can do for you?” He questioned, staring at Freminet.

I have some pretty interesting types’ and it’s hard to find other alterhumans who relate to my experiences and im not great at swimming but im not horrible either, but i can barely float and i cant glide smoothly through the water like i feel like i should and both my types belong in the water,,,

I’m nixie kin but I can’t tread water like a nixie would to lure passersby’s, i am sea dragon kin but i am scared of deep water so I can’t hide beneath the waves, and i cant glide smoothly through the water as easily as a nixie or a dragon should either.

I try to swim when but I don’t have a pool and I live quite the far from any lake and even farther from the ocean.

(But i love this blog because it helps shed light on alterhumans like me so keep up the good work!! :DD)

Hello! Know you’re not alone! I myself am sirenkin and struggle to swim due to chronic pain/fatigue. You don’t need to be able to do anything to be valid!

However, I also understand you might want to. If you’d like, I recommend listening to ocean sounds or those liminal videos with the sea, or, something I do myself, fill up a bathtub as much as you can and just lay there, maybe let yourself lay under the water for a bit if you can!

Just know you’re not alone and your capabilities do not define wether you’re valid or not! And thank you, that means a lot to us<3

Om my gosh oh my gish I'm at the jade mountain prophecy I love moonwatcgsr and winter and qibli and knikajou and how is this book series for children, and the fact darkstalker just adopts moon! [Kaito listens to Jiyan’s response intently, curiosity in his features as he looks at his friend. Kaito’s left hand instinctively moves to clutch the compass shaped pendant resting on his neck. A dark look crosses his face as he fixes his attention on the pendant.]

“Ever wondered what happens if someone attempted to artificially enhance the senses of a non-Resonator to the level of a Resonator’s?”. He asks before pausing, as though waiting for the general to put the pieces together himself.

Jiyan furrows his brow, the wheels in his mind turning as he considers Kaito's question. His eyes dart to the pendant for a moment, then back to Kaito’s face.

"I have, actually," Jiyan responds, his voice measured and thoughtful. "The consequences could be... disastrous. The human body isn’t designed to handle the sensory input that Resonators can. It could lead to immense pain, sensory overload, mental breakdowns, or even permanent damage to the neural pathways."

He pauses, his expression growing more serious and dark. "Who was it? Who attempted to do that to you, Kaito?"
