you and Mattheo joked around a lot and were closer than others, which led to a lot of people thinking that both of you were dating.

and to the both of you it seemed absurd. 

you were friends, have been for as long as either of you can remember. your closeness something neither of you ever questioned, until it began feeling different. 

your feelings for him had slowly started to twist from friendship to something more, but you continued to try and push it away.

tonight though, all your feelings came to a head.

Mattheo had sat next to you on the couch in the Slytherin common room, pulling your legs to drape across his lap just how he usually did. 

“best little wife”

he murmured, one of his hands soothing across your calf while you watched with with a raised brow. 

waiting until he tilted his head to meet your gaze, you laughed, ready to reply to him when someone walked by and whispered something to their friend.

but you both caught it.

“they’re cute together”

your eyes flicked back to Mattheo’s face, the same look of disbelief painted over both of your faces.

it wasn’t as if you never thought of it, hell it was all you thought of lately. your feelings for him bounced around your mind every minute of the day, and unbeknowst to you—his mind raced the same way.

Mattheo laughing pulled you out of your thoughts, a smirk across his face as you rolled your eyes at him.

“yeah we’re cute together, aren’t we sweetheart?”

he cooed, his hand still moving across your leg as you watched him. you knew he was teasing, but the proposition coming from him made your head spin.

“yeah real cute Matty”

you whispered back, earning a chuckle as he tilted his head to the side. leaning his head against the back of the couch, his eyes falling from yours and raking down your body before meeting your eyes again.

the same rugged smirk still across his face, but there was a hint of something else in his eyes, something softer than you’d ever seen before.

“something you want to tell me?”

he asked, scooting closer to you ever so slightly. you lifted your hand and pushed his face away, before squealing as he pressed a kiss to your palm.

“go away”

he chuckled but pulled his head away, watching you carefully as he whispered out to you.

“something i want to tell you”

your eyebrows knitted together, his teasing toned back and a mix of seriousness and nervousness replaced it. 

two things you hardly ever seen from Mattheo.

you nodded, silently telling him to continue talking.

“know we’ve been joking around with it, but i do like you”

he mumbled the last part, almost embarrassed to have admitted his feelings.

but the smile that danced across your face eased his nerves, slowly you leaned into his space. your breath mingling with his as your face stopped inches from his.

“want to know a secret?”

you whispered, glancing down to his hand that hovered above your hip. chuckling and shaking your head as you pulled his hand to rest on your hip, tilting your head back to him as he nodded.

“i like you too”

a sigh of relief fell from his lips, which pulled another laugh from you as you scooted closer to him.

resting your head on the couch next to his, your eyes searching his as his hand stayed on your hip.

“you’re not joking right?”

he asked, the hesitation from earlier creeping in again. shaking your head as you leaned closer, pausing inches from him before pressing your lips to his.

Mattheo paused for a minute before reciprocating your kiss, his other hand moving to your hip in an attempt to pull you closer. 

you smiled against his lips before you pulled back, casting a glance around the room to make sure no one was looking your way and then meeting his eyes again. his left arm moving around your waist in the process to pull you closer to him.

“that seem as if i’m joking?”

you asked softly, earning another chuckle from him before his smirk made another appearance.

“guess not, love”

he shrugged, letting his eyes flick between your eyes and your lips before you rested your head on his shoulder.

he pressed a kiss to the top of your head as you whispered out to him again.

“we should talk about this, in my dorm”

you didn’t need to see his face to know that he agreed, he was standing from the couch and holding his hands out to you.

quickly taking his hands and letting him lead you off towards your dorm, rolling your eyes at him as you heard his words.

“can talk about whatever you want as long as you promise to kiss me again”

I have seen these names a lot like A LOT and I know a lot of people say Mattheo is the son of Tom Riddle. Can you tell me who are they related to and like what is their personality like

it’s definitely not a dumb question, love! let me break it down for you:

so, lorenzo berkshire, theodore nott, and mattheo riddle are all fan-created characters that have become super popular in the fandom. there’s no right or wrong way to portray them; it all depends on what people want their personalities to be like!

lorenzo berkshire: he’s often written as a slytherin and is usually fancast as louis partridge. he was created by @/babynaomi on wattpad in her fanfiction 'filthy'. he’s known for being one of the sweetest, kindest slytherins out there—but don’t let that fool you! i like to think of enzo as a bit of a mischievous troublemaker. he’ll smile sweetly, but behind the scenes, he’s probably the one setting up a prank. you know, the “who, me?” type!

theodore nott: theo is also a slytherin and is typically fancast as lorenzo zurzolo. he’s that dark, mysterious guy that everyone is drawn to, mostly because he’s so quiet and brooding. his dad (who actually is canon in the books!) isn’t exactly “father of the year,” which is often why theo’s so closed off. i like to think he’s that guy who seems intimidating but really just wants to be left alone with a good book and some peace.

mattheo riddle: mattheo is another slytherin, fan casted as benjamin wadsworth. he’s often imagined as either tom riddle’s son or brother, but most people (myself included) like the idea that he’s tom’s son. he’s got similar mysterious vibes as theo, but mattheo’s more outgoing. he’s the guy who’ll drag theo out of the library and into trouble with a mischievous grin, like, “come on, let’s go cause some mischief.”

at the end of the day, these characters are all about how you want them to be! it’s all in good fun, so go with whatever version you vibe with most.

edit: okay, so after receiving many asks, replies, and reblogs, i realized i made a little oopsie! yes, theodore nott is canon, and i definitely should have clarified that while he’s a canon character, the way people portray him in fanfics is mostly fanon (meaning fans created their own versions of his personality and backstory since there isn't much detail in the books). i’m super sorry for the confusion!

what i meant to say was that while theo is part of the original harry potter world, his characterization in fanon is often where we get that quiet, brooding, mysterious guy we all love. again, my bad! 😅 thanks for pointing it out, you lovely people! ❤️

𝑠𝑢𝑚𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑦 : mattheo riddle has never done feelings, but that was until draco’s french cousin transferred from beauxbatons

you were “untouchable”. that’s what everyone thought. that’s what everyone said. the first word pronounced when someone mentioned you. the “mysterious french girl” the “exchange student from beauxbatons” and most of all “draco malfoy’s cousin”. you couldn’t go anywhere in this school without hearing those words. everyone knew better when it came to daring looking your way or crossing your path.

as mean and cold as he looked, your cousin draco had a habit of being quite overprotective when it came to you. since you had transferred to hogwarts a couple of months ago, you had never been seen without him and his friends. the slytherin boys all had quite the reputation in this school, and ever since draco had introduced you to them, you knew the other students would leave you alone.

however, the “untouchable” rule came to your cousin’s friends too. they knew better than that, and to be honest you didn’t care much. enzo was caring, blaise was loyal, theo was compassionate, but what you and them had was purely platonic. the only person to whom that rule didn’t apply was the one and only mattheo riddle. the captivating brunette had been draco’s ride or die since first year and unfortunately for you, that meant you had to spend a lot of time together. but for some reason, the boy always seemed to be avoiding you. it wasn’t obvious at first but you had started to notice it in the little things, like when he’d leave the great hall everytime you sat at their table or go for a cigarette break when you approached the boys at a party. “what did i do to make him hate me ?” you often thought. “he doesn’t even know me…”

you always ended up brushing it off by talking and joking with the other guys, who unlike mattheo, were always here for you. what you didn’t know was that the dark lord’s son didn’t hate you, he just hated what you made him feel. the way his heart fluttered when you were around was nothing but platonic, wich is why he always felt like bolting when you approached him.

but what could he do ? you were breathtakingly beautiful. hell, captivating even. the way your hair was always perfectly falling around your face like an angel. how you made the cutest sound when you laughed at his friends’ jokes. and that sweet accent of yours didn’t help. every word that rolled out of your tongue made him lose his mind. the minute you had walked inside the great hall back in september, he knew he was done for. “they weren’t lying when they said french people were attractive”. imagine what he felt when right after being sorted into slytherin, you ran into draco’s arms. did his best friend have a girlfriend ? how could he have missed that ? he was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard “meet my cousin, y/n y/l/n”. and that’s when he realised the mess he was in.

mattheo riddle wasn’t known to be a romantic guy, he didn’t do feelings. the only times he was seen with girls were during drunk make out sessions at parties, or quickies in broom closets when he needed some relief. all his life, he had stayed away from love and its problems. the “untouchable” girl was the compete opposite. you were a hopeless romantic, saving yourself for the perfect romance you had read and dreamt about ever since you were little. and most of all, you were his best friend’s little cousin. he knew he should’ve stayed away from you, and he really tried.

but everything changed after that one time…

It’s shown a sunny day, birds are chirping, Tom sipping his daily coffee before hell breaks out. Apparently for this episode, the team will have two new recruits apparently. Y/N slides into the scene wrapping her arm around the tall riddle.

“Heyyy boss….” Y/N says with her usual smile. Tom shrugs off her arm and glances at her with slight irritation. “What do you want now Miss L/N?” Y/N awkwardly stood there and opened her mouth. “So I—" “no you won’t get a bonus.” Tom says interrupting her. Y/N dropped her jaw in disbelief and then pouts. “HEY! I wasn’t gonna ask that dick— *ahem* I mean Mr.Riddle…I heard we were getting new interns?”

Tom nods, sitting his mug down. Turning towards the female who is shorter than him, he leans down and looks directly into her eyes. Y/N gulps, backing up a little with heated cheeks.

“They should be coming soon…” Tom says, he then leaves a slight flustered [h/c] female in the break room who started to look behind her. “Damn….why the cold ones always hot.” She says groaning and leaving the break room.

The next frame shows a shiny black car pulls up to the parking lot. A blond male exits out first, and then another one comes out with brunette hair.

The next scene shows two neat men, one with blonde hair and one with brown hair. The blonde man has starry eyes and moles while the other has freckles scattered on his face and dark brown eyes. They stood in front of the camera to introduce themself.

“Hello I’m Ominis Gaunt, and I’m blind.” Ominis says, twirling his cane on his flat palm. The brunette male smirked looking at the camera.

“And im Sebastian Sallow, I’m not blind.” The camera cuts off as Ominis smacks the back of Sebastian’s head.

The scene shows Y/N holding a stapler as Lorenzo holds her back from throwing it at a certain brown haired male who flipped her off. He was also getting held back by his friend Theodore. Most of the cast was watching as Tom and Draco just stood there tired of this bullshit. Pansy was yelling “fight! Fight! Fight!” As Blaise just recorded it all.

Ominis and Sebastian terribly walked into the mist of a heated rivalry. Y/N thrown the stapler, aiming to hit Mattheo. Only for Ominis to block the way towards the Riddle brother. Sebastian quickly moved out of the way.

Ominis dodges the stapler thrown at him. Silence airs out the room as the camera pans from the blonde male and the others. Ominis’s quick reflex makes the rest of the crew drop their jaw except for Sebastian who was munching on peanuts.

“He’s blind.” Sebastian says bluntly. The rest of you look in disbelief at the brunette who shrugged and walked off frame.

Next scene shows you are talking to Sebastian as mattheo sips his mug slowly. Theodore stands by his friend with a raised brow. “You jealous mate?” Mattheo chokes on his drink, wiping the remaining liquid off his lips and sitting the cup down. “Are you crazy?! Me? Jealous of that punk?” Theodore nodded, “uh, yeah?” Mattheo glared at his dear friend. The camera focuses on you putting your hand on Sebastian’s arm. Mattheo immediately snapped his head at you two.

“….okay maybe I am.” He says, his hand clinching. Theodore looks at the camera, breaking the fourth wall as he looks at the reader reading this.

The scene shows Theodore alone as he stands in front of the camera, “okay is it bad I think mattheo and Sebastian are the same but different??” You then come out of nowhere, popping behind Theodore who flinched from your existence. “Yeah! Mattheo is street smart and Sebastian is like book smart.” You said smiling.

“…where did you even come from??” The tall Slytherin questioned you while you just smiled. “I came from my mom. Duhhhh.” Theodore rolled his eyes. “Alright then.”

“But yeah, it’s like that saying of same person, different fonts.” Theodore says calling it out as the camera turns to look at Mattheo who is eyeing you from the corner with Sebastian.

Theodore grabs the camera, making it face him again. “He’s an idiot for this little "I hate y/n act. When clearly he loves hers it’s pathetic….” The camera then cuts off to mattheo grabbing you from the other brunette who raised a brow and smirked.

It was a nice way to earn some money around Hogwarts; working at the Three Broomsticks. You had a nice boss and a nice work atmosphere. You couldn’t wish for better.

In the middle of winter, the cafe was its busiest. All chairs were filled, and people were on each other’s laps to have somewhere to sit. Of course, it was popular, it was extremely cozy and warm in here.

You near the table of some Slytherin boys, a smile on your face. As you’re taking their orders, you lock eyes with a certain curly-haired guy. His smile was extremely attractive.

THE BREAKER. usually it’s the heartbreaker, but you know better than that. at the end of the day, mattheo is nothing more than his father’s son. we all know how toxic he can get, sometimes people might like the toxic fantasy. but what if it got worse? more dangerous than that? would you still want him then? he’d make sure you would.

THE BREAKER. a man who’s dangerous and cunning, who knows how to get a job done when he’s ordered. and when his father ordered that he get information out of you? the pure and innocent girl who had been wrapped into dumbledore’s schemes? well, it was almost too easy for him. so in pure mattheo style, he had to make it fun. not fun for you, oh no. just fun for him.

THE BREAKER started with a clock. a ticking clock. act one of his plan was to get you to trust him, to fall in love. he’d make you feel special, like you where the only girl in the entire world. astrology dates, picnics at lunch, sneaking off in the middle of the night for nothing more than a simple hangout. he was insatiable for you, there was nothing that could go wrong. right? he’ll give you the time of your life in any way you can imagine once he has a hold of you, taking all of your firsts so nobody else could have them without you thinking of him. dancing in the kitchen? he’s pouring wine. your first kiss? already perfected his lips. any intimate moment? already crafted careful and sweet just for your tastes. tastes he doesn’t care too much about, but he’d need in the long run.

THE BREAKER who has fun playing with you once he truly gets you. you’re already too far down to notice that he’s slowly manipulating you. he’ll isolate you from friends. lie to you about things. lovebomb and blackmail you. you’d question everything about anything, whether he truly loved you. surely he did, right? he did all of those nice things. so why would he do this? surely this wasn’t the mattheo you knew. did you deserve this treatment? and anytime you’d try to leave? he’d play a game of chase, always in the woods where you end up back in his arms and your mind fuzzy with the after effects of amortentia. maybe somewhere down the line he fell for you too, though you would never truly know.

THE BREAKER who slowly starts to control your entire life. friends? gone. food? fed directly by him. classes? he could easily threaten the teachers into his bidding. clothing? all chosen by him now, pink and dainty just like a porcelain doll. he liked the innocence you had about you, wanting to preserve it in any way he could.

THE BREAKER who stole a bit of your magic in your sleep to enchant chess pieces. they represented his control over you, every move bringing him farther and farther into your mind until you had no choice but to obey everything. and once you did? you’d become his entire world. something that could follow orders and listen to commands aimlessly, something that he started to admire for those qualities. you had finally won over his affection, which only pulled you in deeper and deeper. you’d tell him secrets about everything, do anything that he asked. and when you were asked why? it’s nothing more than just pure love!

THE BREAKER who broke you so far you can’t recognize yourself in the mirror anymore. you’ve changed, a living doll for his amusement. but that didn’t matter anymore. only he needed to see you now.

the castles corridors were eerily quiet as you walked side by side with your best friend, Mattheo. the castle had its usual charm but tonight it felt different.

Mattheo’s usual smirk was absent and was replaced by something softer, more contemplative, though he still held that same dangerous allure.

you felt the weight of his gaze on you as you passed through the hallways, your heart racing slightly faster than it usually did but you ignored it. you had more important things to focus on, like your upcoming exam. 

“so,”

Mattheo broke the silence between you, his voice a mix of amusement and something you could t quite place. 

“are you actually going to study for that potions exam, or should i just plan to carry you through it?”

you rolled your eyes, nudging him with your elbow as you continued walking. 

“i can handle it, thanks. i don’t need a babysitter”

he barked out a laugh before he grinned, flashing you a ‘really?’ look. 

you’d stopped to turn to him, rolling your eyes as you caught the look on his face. crossing your arms over your chest as he spoke. 

“that’s what they all say, but you’ll be begging for my help when you fail”

he teased, which pulled a huff from you before you laughed alongside him. Mattheo always knew how to make you laugh, even on the worst days. 

“more like you’ll be begging for my help when you fail”

you countered, and his lips tugged into a frown momentarily. as much as he hated to admit it, you were right. potions wasn’t exactly his strongest suit. 

as you rounded a corner, the two of you slowed. something in the air had shifted and you noticed the change before he said anything. 

Mattheo’s usual smirk was long gone now, replaced by something serious. his posture stiffened, and his eyes met yours with an intensity that was unfamiliar. 

“Matty?”

you asked, using his nickname but being unable to mask the unease creeping into your voice. 

“there’s something i’ve been wanting to talk to you about”

his voice was low, hesitant even. a stark contrast to his usual cocky confidence which made you frown. 

you knew it had to be something really serious for him to have no cockiness about him. 

“what’s wrong?”

he didn’t answer immediately, instead he stepped closer. his gaze locked onto your lips made your heart skip a beat, and instinctively you took a step back. 

“Mattheo?”

you used his full name this time, in an attempt to get words out of him. but before you could process what was happening, he closed the gap between you. 

his hand reached up to your face, cradling your jaw and absentmindedly running his thumb across your cheek. 

“Mattheo, what—“

his lips pressed against yours in a swift unexpected kiss, effectively cutting you off mid sentence. 

you froze, every muscle in your body locking up. it wasn’t a friendly kiss, not in the slightest. it was something else entirely— a kiss full of intent, and you could feel it. as if every ounce of tension he had been carrying had poured into that single moment. 

when he pulled away, his face stayed inches from yours and his breath was warm against your skin. 

you stared at him wide eyed, trying to process what had just happened. 

“wait, hold on—“

you sputtered, backing up a few steps but he followed again. you kept backing up until your back hit the wall, Mattheo staying a hairs width away. 

“you’re not actually trying to convince me that was a friendly kiss, are you?”

Mattheo’s lips curled into a half smirk, but his eyes weren’t mocking. they were vulnerable..

“no”

he murmured, face staying inches from yours and his eyes searching yours. 

“not friendly. but i didn’t want to just tell you, i needed to show you”

your mind was spinning. the reality of the situation something akin to overwhelming. 

Mattheo Riddle — the same Mattheo who had always been the mysterious and somewhat unpredictable bad boy of Slytherin house — had just kissed you. 

and it wasn’t some quick, meaningless gesture. 

it wasn’t like the various flings and one night stands he’d told you all about, much to your dismay. 

it had been a kiss that made your pulse race and your heart skip. 

“why didn’t you just tell me?”

you managed to ask, your voice shaky as you continued. voice dropping to a barely audible whisper. 

“why now?”

Mattheo sighed, his expression softening even more. 

his left hand braced himself on the wall by your head, while the other cradled your face again. thumb drawing languid strokes across your cheek. 

“i’ve been trying to figure out the right time for ages, but there’s never been one. you’re my best friend. i’ve been hiding this from you and it’s been driving me insane”

he said in one breath, exhaling as the last word slipped before he sighed. 

his eyes even softer than before, his whole demeanour different. he seemed something akin to shy, though he’d never admit to it. 

“i wish you’d give me a chance”

your breath hitched. you looked up at him, struggling to find words to make sense of it all. 

it wasn’t that you didn’t care about him. of course you did, you always had. but the idea of shifting your entire relationship, of risking everything you’d built over the years—it scared you. 

“i don’t know what to say Matty”

you admitted, looking away and staring at the ground trying to sort through your jumbled thoughts. 

his hand holding your face tilted your gaze back up to him, his eyes pleading as they met yours. 

“you don’t have to say anything now. i just.. i need you to know how i feel, i wish you’d give me a chance”

you swallowed hard. 

could you really take that step? could you allow yourself to risk everything for a chance at something that could be so much more?

your eyes stayed locked with his, the same glint as before swimming around in his eyes and it made you realise one thing. you’d never seen him this open or this vulnerable. 

the Mattheo you knew was always guarded, always playing some game. but now, it was just him — bare and raw — and something inside you shifted. 

“i don’t know what’ll happen Mattheo,”

you whispered, voice quieter than you had intended it to be. 

“but i’ll think about it”

Mattheo’s face lit up with a rare, genuine smile— his relief palpable. 

“that’s all i’m asking for. just a chance, that’s all i need”

he said softly, and you believed him. 

for the first time in your life, you didn’t feel the need to run from him. you didn’t need the answers right away, but maybe just maybe, it was time to give him that chance. 

as you both stood there, the weight of the moment sinking in, you could almost hear the unspoken promise between you.

The Great Hall was transformed into something otherworldly, the usual golden glow replaced by dim candlelight flickering amidst the mist that curled around your feet. It was Nearly Headless Nick's annual Deathday Party, and the place looked eerily beautiful in a way only Hogwarts could pull off. A perfect fit for an autumn evening, where the crispness of the air mixed with the smell of burning wood from distant fires.

You shifted uncomfortably in your long, emerald green robe, fidgeting with the Slytherin crest on your sleeve, glancing over at Mattheo Riddle, your best friend since first year. His hair was tousled like he’d just stepped off a broomstick, eyes flickering with his usual mischief, but there was something different about him tonight. Maybe it was the way the soft lighting brought out the sharp angles of his jaw or the way his dark eyes seemed to find yours in the crowd every other second.

It was probably nothing, right? You'd been telling yourself that for months, ignoring the warmth that filled your chest whenever he smiled at you. It had to be nothing, because that was Mattheo—your Mattheo, your best friend.

"Oi, Y/N, you okay? You look like you're about to pass out," Theo's voice snapped you out of your thoughts, as he sidled up next to you with Pansy, Blaise, and Draco. Mattheo was a bit farther off, talking with a group of seventh-year girls you didn’t recognize.

You swallowed, trying to ignore the slight twinge of jealousy creeping up your throat. "I'm fine, just… tired." You smiled weakly, but your gaze involuntarily flicked to Mattheo again. His head tipped back in laughter, the sound lost in the murmurs of the ghostly party, but it hit you right in the gut.

Pansy narrowed her eyes at you. “Tired, huh? You’ve been staring at Riddle for the past five minutes, love. What’s really going on?”

You nearly choked on your pumpkin juice. "I—I haven’t been staring," you stammered, but Pansy raised an eyebrow, an all-knowing smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. The others, thankfully, were too busy gossiping about something Blaise had said to notice your flustered state.

Pansy leaned in closer, her voice low. "You know, denial looks awful on you."

You opened your mouth to protest, but her words struck something deep inside. You couldn’t deny that lately, things between you and Mattheo had felt… different. Every touch, every glance seemed to linger just a little too long. But he was your best friend. You couldn’t risk losing that.

Still, a part of you wondered—was he feeling it too? Or were you just seeing things that weren’t there?

"Pans…" you began, hesitating for a second before finally asking, "How did you know you loved Luna?"

Pansy's eyes softened at the mention of her girlfriend, and she smiled fondly. "It was… gradual. Like one day, I woke up and the thought of her just made sense. All the teasing, the butterflies, the little moments—they all came together. It was terrifying, but once I admitted it to myself, it was like the pieces clicked into place. Why do you ask?"

Your heart pounded in your chest as her words sank in. Maybe it was more obvious than you wanted to admit, but you were still afraid—afraid of what it might mean, afraid of what you might lose.

Pansy didn’t push, but she squeezed your hand reassuringly before turning to join the conversation Blaise and Theo were having about the latest Quidditch match. You were left with your thoughts—and the sight of Mattheo getting just a bit too close to that seventh-year girl.

Jealousy flared up in your chest, and you couldn’t stop the frown from pulling at your lips. Why did it bother you so much? He was allowed to talk to whoever he wanted, right? But something in you twisted, bitter and sharp, at the way she leaned in, her hand lightly brushing his arm.

You stormed away, deciding to head toward the refreshment table for some air—or at least as much air as you could get in a room filled with ghosts. You were halfway there when a hand gently grabbed your wrist, pulling you to a stop.

"Hey, what’s wrong?" Mattheo's voice was soft, concerned, and way too close for comfort. He had followed you.

You turned, trying to hide your frustration. "Nothing's wrong, Mattheo. Why would anything be wrong?"

He gave you a look that told you he didn’t buy it for a second. "You looked like you were about to murder someone. Come on, Y/N, talk to me."

You bit your lip, feeling your resolve start to crack under his gaze. This was Mattheo. He always knew when something was off. But this wasn’t something you could just blurt out. How were you supposed to explain to him that watching him flirt with someone else was breaking your heart?

"You looked like you were having fun with… her," you muttered, immediately regretting it. You weren’t supposed to care. You weren’t supposed to be jealous.

Mattheo blinked, caught off guard for a moment, before a slow grin spread across his face. "Wait. Are you jealous?"

Your cheeks flamed, and you yanked your wrist out of his grasp. "I’m not jealous! I just… I—" You couldn’t find the words, too flustered and embarrassed to form a coherent sentence.

But Mattheo was still grinning, stepping closer to you, eyes gleaming in that way that made your heart race. "You are jealous," he teased, his voice dropping to a soft murmur. "Why?"

You wanted to scream. He was so infuriating and so clueless, and yet… Merlin, you loved him.

Before you could stop yourself, you blurted out, "Because I hate seeing you with other girls, okay?"

Mattheo's grin faded, replaced by a look of surprise and confusion. "Y/N…"

You shook your head, cutting him off. "I don't know when it happened, okay? But it did. I like you, Mattheo. And it’s been driving me mad because I thought—well, I don’t know what I thought. But seeing you with someone else… it hurts."

The silence that followed felt suffocating. Your heart was pounding, your hands shaking, and you were already mentally preparing yourself for the worst.

But then, after what felt like an eternity, Mattheo finally spoke, his voice soft but steady. "You idiot."

You blinked, taken aback. "What?"

Mattheo shook his head, a small laugh escaping him as he reached out, cupping your cheek in his hand. "I’ve been trying to figure out how to tell you for months. I’m crazy about you, Y/N. I just didn’t want to mess things up between us."

Your heart skipped a beat, and you stared at him, completely stunned. "You… you like me too?"

He grinned again, the warmth in his eyes melting the last of your doubts. "More than you know."

Before you could say anything else, he leaned in, his lips brushing yours in the softest, sweetest kiss. It felt like the world had tilted, like everything had clicked into place, just like Pansy had said. The jealousy, the confusion—it all melted away, leaving only the two of you, finally together.

When you finally pulled away, breathless and smiling, Mattheo rested his forehead against yours. "So, does this mean I don’t have to flirt with seventh-year girls to get your attention anymore?"

You rolled your eyes, laughing softly. "If you ever do that again, I’ll hex you."

He chuckled, pulling you closer, his arms wrapping around you as the autumn air swirled around you both. "Deal."
