a/n: this is based off of my relationship with my boyfriend, he likes sending me letters to me because he lives on the other side of the island (i live in hawaii) and because of quarantine, he’s been doing it more :) i luv him aND i love tamaki so here. 

theme(s): a little angst, fluff 

summary: tamaki would do anything to make you smile 

Today has been absolutely awful to you. At this point in time, you wondered when death would overtake you because you couldn't take it anymore. 

For starters, the coffee shop you went to every morning before (work/school) had gotten your order wrong. But you brushed that off as a simple mistake. 

You then managed to take the wrong train and had ended up in a different city, farther away from (work/school) so you had ended up being late and had to hear it from your (boss/professor). To make matters even worse, they piled on different projects and unnecessary work on top of you so you were going to have fun with that when you got home. 

After (work/school), you thought that you'd gotten away from that all but of course, nothing was on your side at all. You had completely forgotten that it was your friend’s birthday. There were piles and piles of texts from your groupchats and your friend themself saying things like ‘You never have time for us anymore’ and ‘We don’t mean anything to you’. Needless to say, you were going to spend countless times trying to apologize to them. 

And finally, while you had ended up walking home with heavy shoulders and teary eyes, you had forgotten your umbrella. At least the rain fit your mood right..? All you wanted to do was curl up in bed and hide away from the cruel world. Finally reaching your apartment complex, you dragged yourself up to your apartment unit.

Reaching your door (and honestly not paying attention), you nudged your foot against something. You looked down and there it was, a letter from your boyfriend, Tamaki. The pretty purple envelope was placed ever-so nicely against the door of your apartment along with other goodies he knew you liked. That was one of the things you loved about Tamaki. He always enjoyed giving things to you because he always thought that you deserve the best of gifts, no matter how big or small it was. If he could give you the entire world, he would. 

The letter was also accompanied by purple bellflowers that he would give you from time to time. Tears welled up in your eyes as you tried smiling and shakily picked up your gifts. You walked into your apartment and placed them onto your kitchen table.

So there was some hope left in the world. 

Looking at the letter, you noticed that your name was written in beautiful cursive with a heart next to it. That was another thing you loved about Tamaki, his handwriting was so pretty and neat. You admit, you were kind of jealous of his talented writing skills and you really couldn't get up to his level. 

You sat at the table and opened the letter gently, unfolding the paper within it. 

'Dear Y/N,' it started. 

'Where do I begin? I guess I can start by saying that I love you so much, bunny. And I will keep loving you until the end of time. 

Last night while on patrol, I thought about your smiling face. Don't ask me why, you just pass my mind a lot. Your smile is one of the best things about you and I swear, it lights up the room more than you know. 

It makes me happy knowing that you have such a beautiful smile. The gods have really picked me as the lucky guy to witness it everyday huh? It also makes me happy knowing that I could be the reason to make you smile as well and I have more and more confidence in us because of that. I want you to be happy as much as you can because you deserve it so much. 

Your happiness is something very important to me and it should always come first. So whether or not you had a bad day at the time of you receiving this letter, just know that you should smile more and never ever let it fade away. And I will be making sure that it never fades away.

I love you so much bunny, more than you could ever know.

Once you've read the last two words, you broke down sobbing completely. Your shoulders shook as you buried your face in your arms, gripping the letter in your hands. All of your pent up feelings came crashing down as tears streamed endlessly down your, now puffy, red cheeks. All of the absolute frustration all came down in broken sobs and you couldn’t do anything to stop it. 

You then heard footsteps coming in your direction. You immediately knew who it was so you quieted down your sobs to make it seem like there wasn’t anything wrong. “B-Bunny…? I didn’t hear you come home, I-I was in the shower…” Your eyes widened as you felt Tamaki put his hand on your back. “Bunny? Are you okay..? D-Did something happen..?” Tamaki looked over your hunched over figure, taking note of how tightly you gripped his letter. He looked closer as he realized the small tear drops that made the ink on the paper smear a little bit. His eyes softened as he started to gently tug you so that you would look at him. “Bunny…..” No answer. “Bunny, please look at me…” You sniffled and sat up but didn’t look at him, instead you turned your head the other way. Again, Tamaki asked. “(y/n) please tell me what’s wrong…did something happen at (work/school) again?” You could only let out a shaky sigh as you looked up at him.

Once you had looked up at him, his heart broke at the sight of you. Your cheeks were stained with tears and what was left of your eyeliner and mascara. Your beautiful (e/c) eyes looked a little duller and you wore a wobbly lip. His eyes widened a bit as he continued to look over your appearance. “Oh bunny…” And with that he scooped you up and immediately knew what to do. 

So he took you to your bathroom and sat you atop the counter. You were still holding the letter close to you but this time, with a softer hold because you really didn’t want to crumble up his hard work. You felt Tamaki run his hands through your (h/c) hair and felt him tie it up into a ponytail. He grabs your makeup wipes and starts rubbing your face gently, wiping away at your makeup. After he was done, you felt his warm hands gently touch your face again, making you look up at him. He smiled softly at you before planting soft kisses all over your face. Your forehead, your cheeks, your nose, your chin, your cupid's bow and finally, he gives you a soft kiss on your equally soft lips. You felt your heart flutter at his actions as you returned his kiss. It was moments like these that made you fall harder for Tamaki. He cared so much about you and you him and you’d be an idiot if you even thought about letting him go. You both pull away from the kiss and put your foreheads against each other. “Come on bunny...let me see that beautiful smile…” He whispers. You let out a small giggle and gave him a close eyed smile. He smiled at your giggle and nuzzled his nose against yours. “There it is..” 

He pulls away from your face and snakes his arms around your waist, pulling you into a tight and warm hug. 

And with a throw of your arms around his neck, you knew that the world wasn’t going to hurt you, as long as you had Tamaki by your side and he swore that he would protect you and your smile at all costs.

sure, he's been around for over a century, sure, people have expressed love to him before. it would be shocking, if he'd never experienced someone who showed him what love was. but, stefan's never experienced it like this before. sodapop was the first person he's been in love with that showed him everyday with even the smallest of gestures. it's bold of him to think, with the thought of elena lingering in the back of his mind. as much as he had loved the fellow doppelgänger, she never gave small gestures. ones that he sometimes needs. his heart is always doubtful but soda helps, he helps more than he probably knows. the tiny little love letters were found around the boarding house daily & it made his guilty heart flutter each time he sees one. even when his brother finds one first & leaves it crumbled on the countertop. bright iris' roll at the simple thought of his brother gagging at the letters he knows he'll never receive. the vampire swivels around when he feels the presence of his boyfriend, an immediate grin tugs to his lips. " i have, i found one in my journal. " he takes a couple steps towards soda, thumb gently lifting the others chin so he could press a quick & soft kiss to his lips. " they bring me more comfort than you know, my love. "
