* 𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑 : logan starkweather & danny reyes .

𝐀 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐖𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑'𝐒 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 was taken very seriously . it's something they pride themselves in , that every creature knew of their kind . their hard work , their dedication . . . and as weapon's master it would be a failure to himself if his guidance let down a fellow shadowhunter . especially a friend . so he feels nothing , but pride upon watching danny dance so gracefully with his girlfriend . logan hangs back by the bar , eyes intent and body swaying a little to the music , feet almost moving to the ways danny's does ( like they practice ) . nerves build up as the finale comes , holding onto those last moments ━━━ and he cannot help letting out a loud cheer as he sees @irigy successfully dip the mermaid . eyes are on him then , but he doesn't care . the only thing that matters now is after the couple splits for a break and danny comes over . logan grabs his friend in an aggressive hug , high fiving him so hard his skin tingles . ❛ and that's how it's fucking done my man ! ❜

𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇 , 𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐀𝐍 𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓 holding it together as well as it may appear . he was used to playing the big brother in his family ; everything okay even when it isn't . the tiniest smile forms on his face when danny shoulder bumps him , eyes travelling to him . ❛ yeah . we are . ❜ this might not have been home home for his friend , but it still affects him ( as it does all shadowhunters ) and being here together , side by side , makes the pain just a bit more bearable . he takes back the cig , inhaling more of its smoke before it seeps back out his mouth with his next words . ❛ honestly , i don't know . i know the seelie queen snatched some of the perpetrators , but who's to say if it was all of them . ❜ and while he heard no whispers of claims over doing so , even if he heard the fae had he isn't sure he'd believe them — even without the whole lying thing . ❛ you'd think with how long it's been since it's happened we'd know more . ❜

A pair of concerned chestnut colored eyes took a moment's break from being directed at their surroundings and instead rested on the other shadowhunter. Danny didn't know what he'd be doing if it was his family's home that got destroyed in the attack. It was a miracle Logan could keep it together as much as he was in that moment. Danny took the cigarette, welcoming the nicotine that momentarily calmed his nerves. This job felt like a punishment. Forcing shadowhunters to stare at the ruins of their city, alone with nothing but their thoughts. It wasn't right. He nudged his friend with his shoulder, trying to get Logan to focus on him instead of whatever thoughts there were that plagued him. "Hey... this sucks major cojones, but at least we're here for each other." He handed the cigarette back. "There's like... no way the ones who attacked the city are still around, right?"

𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐈𝐓 𝐓𝐎𝐎𝐊 was a mouse to make magic ( i mean look at disney ? ) but danny was right . with the guests of tonight’s party — princes and princesses , demons of high rank , he was sure he even thought he heard someone mention an archangel was present — the shadowhunter , and him included , were barely noticeable . ❛ you bloody fucking were . ❜ his smile widens seeing danny’s pride , rightfully earned . ❛ oh , i’m happy to take the credit most of the time , but this was all on you , man . you’ve always had moves . ❜ he takes the bottle , the glass meeting his lips again as he gulps down the strong liquor . ❛ but you are welcome . it was fun . ❜

Could a secret even be kept in a place like this? Danny felt like he was just a mouse in a ballroom full of tigers... but perhaps that was why they wouldn't pay attention to him. Because he was just a little mouse. He let Logan pull him away by the hand, trusting him to find a secluded enough space for them to drink their stolen wine, or champagne, or whatever it was. He gasped as the cold winter air smacked him in the face, and before he knew it, his friend was already opening the bottle with a big smile, one that Danny tried to replicate in his own way. "I was pretty fucking smooth, wasn't I?" He laughed before taking the bottle and lifting it up to his lips to take a couple of big sips out of it. He could already feel the alcohol attacking his nerves, just like he needed it to. "And it's all thanks to you! I couldn't have done it without you." He handed the bottle over to Logan. "I mean it! Thank you."

𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐈𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 , excitement for his friend or a death wish that swayed logan right now ? perhaps all of the above . ❛ i absolutely did . it’ll be our little secret . ❜ he winks at him , hand squeezing his as they make their way out into the cold , the snow welcoming them as it sprinkles their hot cheeks . he takes them around the corner , finding some strategic cover behind bushes and statues . logan pops up the bottle , taking a swig of it ( the alcohol burning his throat , a welcome feeling ) before he offers it to danny . ❛ to smoothest mother fucker here . ❜ he cheers , still so proud of danny for his performance . one he hopes to witness again . and again . and again .

Danny's eyes widened a bit more as his cheeks were smushed together, lips pursing on their own while he blinked rapidly at Logan, automatically glancing down at those pretty smiling lips of his as he spoke to try and comprehend what he was actually saying. He chuckled, which was a bit muffled in that state of his cheeks squeezed like that, then he scrunched his face up once he was finally free. All that praise immediately went to his pounding heart, which had his chest swelling and his face flushing red, and before he could realize what was going on, Logan stole a bottle and grabbed him by the hand, guiding him away from the crime scene. The cold breeze against his warm cheeks was like a wake up call, and he let out a loud "Holy shit!" Was he even allowed to say that here? "Did you just steal from the king of Hell?"

❛ 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐒𝐎 𝐅𝐔𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍' 𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐃𝐘 fantastic i could fucking kiss you . ❜ was logan a little tipsy himself ? maybe . because he aggressively grabs danny's face in both hands , cupping and squeezing his cheeks together ( forcing danny's lips to pucker ) as he says those words . . . before dropping his hands . ❛ say no more . ❜ the shadowhunter waits for the bartender to be busy . . . before leaning over the bar counter and snatching up a bottle of alcohol . in a flash , danny's hand is in his and he is leading the other out of the ballroom towards one of the exit doors to cold world outside .

Adrenaline was rushing into his head as if he'd just defeated at least a dozen rowdy demons back in new york city. He was on fucking fire. The world was his. He could go to war right now! All because he nailed the gentle, prince charming-like dip at the end of his dance with Marina. Oh, and the way she smiled, by the angel, he could die right now and he would be the happiest man in the universe. He didn't even know where to go when they parted ways, he literally just stumbled into the big and strong arms of Logan, who yanked him back into reality. "Oh shit!" He laughed, maybe a bit more high-pitched than he wanted, but he was practically feeling drunk. The high five that came next really snapped him out of his dream-like state, but the dumb smile on his face was there nevertheless. "Did you see that? I didn't even step on her shoe! It was like a movie!" He only realized then how his hands started trembling slightly from all that excitement. "I need a drink! And a cigarette!"

𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 . logan knows what time he speaks of . logan was lucky to never have been pulled in by the queen's spell ; it makes him even more suspicious of danny meeting the queen ... but he pushes his paranoia to the side . danny wasn't dumb . if the queen was giving him trouble ( real trouble ) he would not stick around her . and honestly ? as wary as he was of the relationship , it also intrigued him . ❛ getting to know the seelie queen while not knowing she is the queen ... sounds like a book . ❜ his fingers fumble in his pocket , taking out a cigarette pack . ❛ what is life like in the seelie realm ? ❜ he asks , having not been there much himself .

"Yeah, seriously!" He repeated after his friend, even making his voice lower as if he was mocking him. As to the question about how he and the queen met, Danny took a deep inhale, pursing his lips and glancing away, trying to remember. "Uhh... y'know what I don't really... I mean I met so many new people at that time... but I remember that I totally thought she was just any other seelie. She didn't even tell me who she actually was for a while!"

❛ OF COURSE YOU HAVE . ❜ and no . this one isn't a tease though there is a smirk on logan's face . the boy has been through a lot ━━ more than most shadowhunters have . it took someone tough to get through all that shit . it's why this change might be good for danny . it clearly already was . ❛ seriously ? ❜ he still sounds skeptical , even if he believes him now . ❛ how exactly did that come about ? ❜

"What're ya talkin' about, I've always been tough!" In the head, probably. But Danny didn't care much about it lately. Things were looking up. And he convinced himself that he was allowed to be excited for a change. That he shouldn't be waiting for the other shoe to drop. Because there was no other shoe. A little hope never hurt. His chin lifted as he assumed a more prideful position, along with a smirk reflecting just that. "Yes. The queen. I taught her hand-to-hand combat back in the day. So if ya ever see her throwin' punches, remember that it's all thanks to me."

𝐴𝐿𝐼𝐶𝐴𝑁𝑇𝐸 𝑊𝐴𝑆 𝐿𝑂𝐺𝐴𝑁'𝑆 𝐻𝑂𝑀𝐸 . this forest is where he grew up , his own home not far from where they are now . he hasn't returned since the attack ( only once , checking in his mother on their home on the outskirts of the city ) because all the shadowhunter can feel are the ghosts that now linger here . it's painful to see the ruins of their once great city ; slowly being rebuilt , but the tragedy seeps here within the trees . it's the reason logan cannot help lighting up a cigarette , even while on mission , to ease his own tension . ❛ i'm not entirely sure . they just said there was some unusual activity . i think we're just supposed to keep an eye out for anything . ❜ he answers , taking a drag of the dart before he offers it to danny ( if he wants any ) .

No matter which institute a shadowhunter belonged to, there was always a shared sense of attachment to Idris. Many grew up in the city of Alicante, and even the ones that didn't spent more than enough time training there to be able to call it their home. It was probably why Danny felt that pang of loss in his chest as he and @elysiium made their way across the woods around the ruins that were once the great city of glass. With both blades in his hands, he was focused on every shadow, rock and strangely shaped tree, prepared to jump at any unexpected sound, but he couldn't shake that bitter feeling of discouragement creeping up at the back of his throat, making him blurt out "What are we even supposed to be defending here, man?"
