hm. after minimal consideration, i'll be canon-divergent from season 4 episode 5. cheating subplots very much rub me the wrong way, especially when two siblings are involved.

     IMPORTANT HEADCANONS TO CONSIDER

CAN THEY USE CHOPSTICKS:  yes, though he prefers not to.

WHAT DO THEY DO WHEN THEY CAN’T SLEEP:  it depends on whether or not there’s something that needs to be done. i.e., if he’s working towards saving the world a la seasons 1&2, he’s working, he’s looking into leads, he’s off sneaking around trying to figure out a plan. BUT if he’s relaxing, retired a la season 3 episodes 1&2, he’s either reading, working on perfecting his time travel equations, or he’s getting drinks (probably with Viktor or Klaus). there’s a few rare occasions where he sneaks out and goes for a late night stroll.

WHAT WOULD THEY IMPULSE BUY AT THE GROCERY STORE:  those already-made starbucks coffees. he hates that there’s different flavors n shit and that there’s no straight black coffee, but he’d rather have the flavored cappuccino crap than screw up trying to make his own coffee.

WHAT ORDER DO THEY WASH THINGS IN THE SHOWER:  he starts with his hair and just moves down. simple & efficient.

WHAT’S THEIR COFFEE ORDER:  as stated previously, straight black coffee. he adds his own sugar, number of packets depends heavily on how much energy he needs.

WHAT SORT OF APPS WOULD THEY HAVE ON THEIR SMARTPHONE:  whatever social media(s) his siblings might have. if only so he could keep up with them and make sure they’re not doing anything stupid.

HOW DO THEY ACT AROUND CHILDREN:  do not put five in a situation that involves children. ...unless it’s harlan.

WHAT WOULD THEY WATCH ON TV WHEN THEY’RE BORED AND NOTHING THEY REALLY LIKE IS ON:  history or nature documentaries, almost exclusively.

.....so I’ve actually thought about this one a lot already. strap in. obviously, to him, his name is Number Five Hargreeves, he needs no other name. that being said, having looked into names that were popular in ireland in the year 1989, done a little research on meanings and such, weeded out names that weren’t of irish, celtic, or gaelic origin, I have personally decided that his birth mother, Efa, named him Kieran before he was adopted by Reginald. the name is of old irish and celtic origin and means “little dark one.” (this is also the name i went with for his str.anger th.ings verse!) however if Grace would have given him a name, again going off meaning and language of origin, he would have been Niall, old irish / celtic origin, meaning “champion” (a nice little play on the fact that he always got 5/5 stars while training).

none of that is really relevant, though, since universally you’d be better off just calling him Five.

  1.  He’s a liar. He never ate a bad Twinkie in the apocalypse. He just hasn’t had sweets since before he skipped forward and he’s not sure what it would do to his teeth.   2.  If left alone, Five would jam out to literally any song that plays. Slow and sappy? Upbeat and poppy? Doesn’t matter, he’s dancing to it.   3.  His favorite color used to be green, but after he got stuck, it switched to navy blue. It reminds him of the Academy.   4.  Greek was the first foreign language Five was taught in the Academy, via Homer.   5.  Gaelic was his second, since he came from Ireland.   6.  Five has to mooch coffee from other people or go out to diners or cafes to get it because he doesn’t know how to make it himself.   7.  He also doesn’t know how to prepare meals. He can heat up premade meals, though.   8.  His training with the Commission had to include teaching him how to drive.   9.  As amazing as he has to be at math/physics (to use his abilities, of course), his favorite subject to study is literature. (How do you think he retained the Greek language so well?) 10.  He says his family’s names a lot when he’s talking to them. It’s partially as a reminder that he’s really, actually, talking to them and they’re really, actually, right there, and partially because he hasn’t seen them in like 45 years.

okay wait hang on tho in s1 five says delores thinks being drunk makes five ‘surly’ (unfriendly, bad-tempered). but every time we see five drunk in the show, he’s just a happy lil guy. i mean multiple times in s1 we see a drunk five just chilled out, relaxed, talking to whoever (luther and diego, and later hazel) about some fairly traumatic shit as casual as could be. s2, he tells luther about the apocalypse in the bar and it’s small talk vibes. and s3, he makes a whole wedding speech about found family and “it’s their destiny to love each other” or some shit. SO, either he was an angry shithead bc he was alone when he drank in the apocalypse / during his time in the commission, OR, he’s a happy drunk and will REFUSE to admit it even when drunk && frankly i think i like the latter >:3c

yeah i’ll say it. five does indeed play favorites sometimes and when he does it’s always klaus and/or viktor. it used to just be viktor (mainly before he quote-unquote disappeared at age 13), but after coming back 45(+?) years later, he’s warmed up to klaus rather unexpectedly.
