unprompted starter for @aeviare
The air was clean, no longer tainted with the faintly acrid scent of the Abyss. Thankfully, she had gotten used to it rather quickly, but she wouldn't exchange the scent of this air for anything else.
Now...where could he possibly be?
Uri wasn't entirely sure how long she had been gone at this point, but it couldn't have been that long, right?
Well-
He had managed to trek his way all the way to Fontaine it seemed. And Uri had reemerged somewhere around the border between Liyue and Sumeru. Of course he had to make things difficult. Maybe it was indirect payback for her disappearing...
Luckily, despite looking a little worse for wear upon her arrival in the Hydro nation, Uri made her way into a nearby shop to refresh her clothing, paying with what little mora she picked up from abandoned scavenger camps along her travels.
Her outfit was merely a simple pair of pants, thigh high boots and an...admittedly slightly too frilly shirt but it was oddly cute and inexpensive so why not-
Cue her train of thought being derailed at the flash of blond hair out of the corner of her eye as she exited the shop. No matter how long she had gone without seeing him, she knew that hair anywhere.
"Aether!~" Her voice was incredibly raspy as she called out his name, breaking at the end as she winced and rubbed her throat, her feet already moving as she headed in his direction.

Panic burns briefly in her throat, pulse throbbing under her skin in such a way it made her dizzy. Had she been so easy to read? What could've tipped him off? Maybe she was thinking too far into things.
Uri shoved the panic-induced anxiety back down into her gut as she retrained her gaze onto Ren, a deep breath filling her chest as she tried to gather her thoughts to best explain without entirely explaining.
"You could...say that." She admitted, voice falling quieter as she nodded. It was strange, saying it without really saying it and to someone that she was unsure if they were a stranger or not. Nor could Uri tell if this weird familiarity was remnants of her own curse or something else.
Uri's shoulders straightened a moment later, "I'm not entirely from here. Teyvat specifically. I- Well, the physical land of Teyvat." She cleared her throat, making a small movement with her hand in the general direction of the floating islands that make up Celestia. "I'm from, uh....up there." Uri mumbled.
not anymore. that's promising — and though there's certainly a chance she might be LYING, her voice is earnest enough to make him feel inclined to believe it. the wanderer is nothing if not well-acquainted with liars, after all; he spent centuries surrounded by them. ❝ i see. ❞ he holds little fondness for gods these days, nor did he ever look to the tsaritsa with any sort of REVERENCE — even while holding such an illustrious position by her side. she was simply a means to an end, just as he surely was from her perspective. it wasn't anything personal. a cook may not bow in fealty to the head chef of the establishment, but they will certainly carry out their orders with efficiency nonetheless.
still, he can't necessarily say her goals were hard to stomach — it's her associates who hold the brunt of his ire. interesting how their opinions seem to MIRROR one another in that regard.
❝ ... ❞ if she causes problems for him, it's only a matter of cutting a few LOOSE ENDS. ❝ assuming i say yes and confirm your suspicions, ❞ as if it's all just a hypothetical, ❝ you'll answer a question of mine in response, won't you? ❞ it's only fair. either way, the wanderer isn't giving her a chance to think too DEEPLY about it; there's barely a pause before he asks, ❝ am i right to suspect you aren't an ordinary person? ❞ it's the only possible explanation he can think of, no matter how vague or fantastical. she shouldn't be able to remember him, even this faintly.

continued. @dhahabibi
It felt like a swift stab to her chest, the intense bluntness of his words startling her in such a way that she couldn't quite recall the last time she had felt a similar way.
In truth, Uri hadn't meant to yell at him, let alone shake him like she had. It was more like a wrong place, wrong time for Alhaitham as her frustrations had built up to a boiling point. And unlucky for him, he had been the closest person within her vicinity.
She knew he was right too, which only seemed to add to the painful stabbing sensation building in her chest.
"I- No, you're absolutely correct." Uri cleared her throat and reached up to push her bangs away from her eyes, an anxious tic. "Ah, though it's simply harder to figure these things out when I feel like an ant to a giant in my situation." She frowned, then shook her head.
"My apologies, I hadn't meant to...blow up at you."

continued. @iiroiiros
"Hunting Hound". Ah right, that's why the young woman looked so familiar to her. There was a time just after her defection from the Fatui that she dug into any information she could get her hands on. While it had only been a small amount, Uri had managed to get her hands on a small dossier about Yuliya.
It was heavily redacted, but there was enough uncovered that she could get a good idea on just what her purpose was. Though, it did also remind her just how much of an awful being Dottore really was.
A polite smile curled at Uri's lips and she chuckled, "Of course, of course. I hadn't meant to imply you were anything less than what is said so highly of you." She said, then making a slight gesture to the other woman's body.
"Would you allow me to at least wrap those wounds for you? I have a salve that should work wonders even in this cold." She nodded, already beginning to reach towards the pouch at her hip.

∗ 67﹕ sender strikes receiver across the face . (Leucosia for Uri)
𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝑵𝑶𝑵𝑽𝑬𝑹𝑩𝑨𝑳 𝑷𝑹𝑶𝑴𝑷𝑻𝑺 .
@viisiond
It happened so fast that Uri barely had any time to react and she only realized what had happened once her cheek began to burn and sting, the skin already beginning to redden.
Her own hand pressed gently onto the warming skin, gaze trembling as she attempted to recall what exactly had prompted the hit. Had she said something wrong? Uri was usually so good at saying the correct things around the Harbingers as it allowed her to remove herself from their presence as quickly as possible.
Maybe Leucosia was just really pissed about her leaving. But Uri tried to explain herself! She really did, but Leucosia simply didn't want to hear it.
Tears were welling in Uri's eyes now and she tried to blink them away as quickly as possible, thought the movement only allowed them to fall earlier than they should have.
"Okay...Maybe I kinda deserved that..." She rasped and rubbed lightly at her cheek, wondering the hit had been hard enough to bruise.

"I..." Uri paused as the words seemed caught in her throat. It was always a hard topic to speak on, the scarring, as she feared most would turn and run in terror or may even deem her tainted and attempt to take her life.
Instead she chuckled and pulled her hand away from her side, a dark yet faint stain lingering on her clothing. "It's complicated, but I'm fine." Uri waved that same hand through the air as she brushed him off. "We have more beasts to take care of, do we not? Best not to linger, Yaksha~!" She laughed, avoiding the topic entirely as she turned to head off in the direction she had pointed to previously.
Though, even then, tinges of her anxiety lingered tangibly in the air.
Given the surplus of suspicious activity within the chasm, it is not unusual to deduce that the abyss creatures are up to something. While the Yaksha is still no closer to figuring out what they are planning, he does not intend to break his current stride in vanquishing as many of these abominations as possible after obtaining what little information he could out of them.
He does not yet know the reason as to why this stranger is found lurking deep within the chasm and has little reason to trust her motives. But keeping her close would enable him to monitor her actions closely and thus this is what he will do. "Naturally. If you think you can beat me to it, you are welcome to try. Just stay out of my way."
Amber eyes cast their gaze down to her side when she moved to press her hand there.
"...Are you hurt?"

“ i feel so far from you now . ” {i swear this will be the only angst one but aether at uri}
𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐎𝐌 𝐋𝐘𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐒
@aeviare
Uri stiffened as her movements stopped, having been fidgeting with the hem of her shirt and tugging at a few loose threads. Her mind had ran through all kinds of scenarios for this, but hearing him say that threw everything completely off course to the point where it felt like Uri's brain had a momentary shut down.
"I wasn't aware that time passed so differently in the abyss. I though I had been gone for a handful of days at most." She admitted sheepishly, looking as if she were a child being scolded by a parent, like she were a dog with its tail between its legs.
She spared a glance at him, "I'll do anything in my power to make it up to you, Aether, I swear it." Uri murmured.

MISCELLANEOUS SENTENCE PROMPTS
@rationaltruth
Uri blinked slowly, her eyebrows furrowing slightly as he spoke to her and her train of thought derailed almost immediately.
"I...Well, I guess my memory isn't as easily clear as it used to be. A good couple of centuries cursed to forget everything will do that to you." She nodded once, the words coming from her in such a nonchalant way it nearly startled even herself. "I mean! I did always have problems remembering the fine details of things even when I was a kid..." Uri trailed off and poked at the page of the book he had placed in front of her previously.
"So, remembering plot details of a book wouldn't be my strong suit regardless..." She chuckled sheepishly.

[ rescue ] sender carries receiver to safety // from Dehya for Uri
𝑵𝑶𝑵-𝑽𝑬𝑹𝑩𝑨𝑳 𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑺𝑻 𝑷𝑹𝑶𝑴𝑷𝑻𝑺.
@momdstadt
It...It was embarrassing! Why did she have to go through Sumeru's desert to get to Fontaine on foot! Uri hated the desert, hated the monsters in the desert, hated the sand. But it was because of that, that she also had so much respect for the people that actually lived there.
Like the woman currently carrying her like she weighed barely as much as a feather.
Uri wasn't sure if she should be more embarrassed or impressed because of that fact.
She had ran into a duo of consecrated flying serpents unfortunately enough, and for some reason they absolutely destroyed her! Uri had been blindsided, really, as she hadn't fought anything like them before so if it hadn't been for Dehya's intervention, Uri probably would've barely made it out.
"I-I can walk, you know. You don't have to be doing all this..." Uri piped up as she was jostled just slightly in the other woman's arms.

❛ how long do we still have? ❜ (Dain for Uri)
𝑺𝑰𝑿 𝑾𝑶𝑹𝑫 𝑺𝑬𝑵𝑻𝑬𝑵𝑪𝑬 𝑺𝑻𝑨𝑹𝑻𝑬𝑹𝑺.
@tevystar
Uri's hands were fidgeting at her sides, sweat beading at her temples as she tried to gather her words. What could she say? How could she say it? Did she even know the answer to his question?
Her expression became lightly panicked the longer she thought and it took her a few moments after the realization to calm herself down. It was a wonder that Uri hadn't absolutely collapsed the moment she arrived to speak with the man. How do you even tell someone that their whole civilization was on the brink of obliteration?
"A few days, at most?" She wheezed and swallowed thickly when she realized how dry her throat had become. "They were...merely discussing the option when I heard of the plans." Uri nodded once before continuing. "But knowing how...trigger happy Celestia is..." She trailed off weakly.

“Just breathe… you’re okay, i promise.” (Kaveh soft Uri)
angsty injury things
@dhahabibi
She hated the desert so much. She hated the sand so much. She hated the beasts and monsters that resided out here so much.
If anything, at least the embarrassment of it all helped to distract her from the pain. That last attack had managed to intersect one of her smaller abyssal scars, prompting the strange looking thing to start leaking energy.
Kaveh's voice was in her ears then and Uri inhaled sharply, nodding her head once. "Y-Yea, right. Breathe. 'M okay." She repeated softly, shaking her head once. "I've suffered worse." Uri rasped and followed it up with a weak chuckle, "Just need to patch up, maybe find someone with a vision that can heal..." She grumbled, now attempting to sit up.

“You made these yourself?” Kaveh is flabbergasted at the amount of baked goods, and even more so that the woman would even want to offer any to him. After all, he was fully capable of feeding himself, albeit, barely, but able to do so none the less. “Please… I could not take these from you, it would be against my principles as a gentleman.” A Martyr, through and through, until his growling stomach says otherwise. (For Uri~)
@dhahabibi
Uri immediately reached forwards, grabbing his hand and placing it around the handle of the small basket. "I made more than I initially thought I needed and I know you tend to work late into the night...So I figured you'd benefit most from them." She shrugged, placing her own hands on her hips instead.
"Besides, they're individually wrapped so it's easier to keep them by your desk or in a pouch when you're out for work." Uri added, now reaching forwards to poke at the center of his chest. "So you better eat them, understand? Don't let all my hard work go to waste."

Uri barely even had a chance to react before her face had been grabbed in the other woman's hand, and she was unable to stop the embarrassing yelp that escaped her as a result.
She could feel her heart pounding in her ears or maybe that was the water in the fountains roaring with such an emotion Uri couldn't place. This was another thing that persuaded her to leave the Fatui, the absolute unease that most if not all the Harbingers left within her, like a scar on her soul.
"My...My goals still align with Her Majesty, but I wanted to do it my own way." Uri rasped, struggling briefly in Leucosia's grip. "After all my centuries of loyalty, willingly or not so much, I think my leave is well deserved." She muttered as her eyebrows furrowed, more in stubbornness than anger.
@infamiia said: ❛ how do you know my name? ❜ | shakes leucosia gently idk she strikes me as the type to somehow know that uri's full name is uriel- Lost Meme // ???
"Angelfish, it wasn't hard to figure out- the water has eyes and ears you know." She mused to herself, looking down at her from her perch with a smile.
"A little bird also mentioned...." She uncrossed her legs and got to her feet, "you ran from her majesty's rule...." The smile she had on her face vanished as the fountains around them began to roar to life with a fury only the seas could carry.
"And we can't have traitors and runaways walking freely now, can we?" The Harbinger slowly began descending from her perch little by little, "What made you, of all people, think you could run away that easily...?" And in a flash, she was in Uri's face, holding it in one hand so she couldn't look away from her.
"Answer me. I'm NOT a patient woman...."

[ rainfall ] to uri !! c;
𝑵𝑶𝑵-𝑽𝑬𝑹𝑩𝑨𝑳 𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑺𝑻 𝑷𝑹𝑶𝑴𝑷𝑻𝑺.
@oceanscursed
As cheesy as it sounded, the rain reminded Uri that she was alive, properly so. It felt like renewal, standing under the pouring rain and Uri wouldn't trade the feeling for the world.
It was a miracle she hadn't gotten sick from it yet.
Granted, she wasn't all that used to someone else being out in this rain at the same time as her. Uri always picked times where she was positive others were more inclined to stay inside. So the footsteps that she picked out through the rush of rainfall had her shoulders tensing.
A blade materialized itself in her hand and she spun on her heel, aiming the tip towards the, what she assumed, intruder.
"Oh!" Uri stammered when she caught sight of who neared her. The other didn't...look particularly dangerous at least, and Uri immediately dispersed her blade into a shimmer of sparkling energy. "I'm so sorry I thought you might've been someone else.." She apologized swiftly.

yes nodding their head in agreement. (Kaveh @ Uri)

@dhahabibi
Uri couldn't tell if Kaveh was just really easy to talk to, or if anyone was easier to talk to after she had attempted to speak to Alhaitham multiple times.
Her shoulders slouched in a relieved motion and it almost looked like she'd weep happily.
"See?! You get it! Finally, someone that promptly understand my complaint about how troublesome it is to cool buildings in Sumeru." She groaned, placing her hands on her cheeks and squished lightly.
"It's so refreshing to speak to someone properly, and not a brick wall..." Uri huffed under her breath.

no shaking their head in disagreement. (Alhaitham @ Uri)
nonverbal starters
@dhahabibi
Uri couldn't recall when she got on her last nerve with him. Or maybe she always had been. Either way, this was edging on the last straw.
The shaking of his head was so...so nonchalant that it almost physically pained Uri in some self conscious part deep in her gut. It felt like a parent brushing off their child in some strange way that it infuriated her, but also made her feel weirdly dejected all the same.
"What? Are you not as interested in the abyss as most everyone else seems to be? I didn't mean to start prattling off about it immediately but I figured it'd be an...interesting topic to discuss.." She trailed off into a grumble, looking embarrassed with the tips of her ears burning faintly.
