Honestly though, if they gave us a little bit of a breather on the events and such, maybe they would have time to work on the bugs that have been there for years and still haven't been patched. Instead of adding more and more, why not fix the errors that actually take away from the game?

Being proactive rather than reactive with their bad glitches (noting specifically back to the latest bug on January 28th that was so bad nobody could play, and they had to completely shut down and switch the game into maintenance mode) isn't exactly the best way to go about game issues, lmao.

I think the petition would be a good idea, but no pressure. It's your blog, at the end of the day.

Plotting Tips for Romantasy 𓆩🖤𓆪

Okay, What IS romantasy?

Generally speaking, romantasy is a commercial subgenere that provides equal weightage to romance and fantasy.

If you can remove one side of the plot and still have a complete story, you may not be fulfilling genre expectations.

To summerize:

Romantic Fantasy = Fantasy + Romantic subplot

Fantasy ROmance = Romance + Fantasy subplot

Romantasy = Romance + Fantasy

Balancing Romance and Fantasy Elements

Combine two or more tropes from each genre.

Romantasy is all about an interesting mix-and-match. Think of your favorite romance/fantasy tropes, then marry them:

Enemies to Lovers discover a Portal to Faerieland in their Contemporary Office setting.

Grumpy and Sunshine accidentally anger a Troupe of vengeful witches while on a Road Trip

a Second Chance Couple is thrown into a Forced Proximity in order to plant hunt, and she must keep her Botanical Magical Powers a super-secret from him.

2. Integrate the two plots into one another.

The best way to juggle with two different plots is to integrate them into one another. For example,

Romance as a prerequisite for using magic: e.g. only when a witch meets her soulmate will se be able to use her wand.

Love between characters threatens the fantasy world. e.g. forbidden love between two magical species has now become a full-blown war.

Romance between non-human characters. The key is to remind your readers of the fantasy elemnts by giving the characters nonhuman conflicts, personalisties and values.

Common Genre Tropes for Romantasy

A female lens: The readership is largely made up of women - they want to read narratives that foreground women and their stories. Where the heroine loves the hero, the love interest should be likable.

Strong heroine who saves the day: Most common in books by women for women this includes fewer damsels in distress and plenty of dames doing the saving.

Enemies-to-lovers: This trope has plenty of scope for inter-species prejudices and love across (literal) battle lines, which is a common must in fantasy.

Friendship and found family: Portraying relationships from a romantics AND fantasy point of view is important. The hero who begins as the cool, aloof longer must eventually become part of a collective even if that's only through their partner.

Elemental magic: Who wouldn't want to be able to hurl fireballs or lightening bolts? It would be useful in a lovers' fight, too.

Fantasy has an extremely broad spectrum, so what does it mean for a fantasy book to be DARK? There are different flavors of dark fantasy, each with a different tone. However, all three dark fantasy subdivision are fall into the same descriptor for story prospects: 

Bright means the circumstances denote an almost idyllic way of life and a world nearly free of dire or oppressive circumstances.

Neutral means the circumstances are neither idyllic nor hellish.

Dark means the circumstances denote an often hellish way of life and a world wracked with dire or oppressive circumstances.

So yeah, in dark fantasy, the characters suffer. Really, really suffer. 

Nobledark fantasy means the circumstances of the world or story are easily changeable but they denote an often hellish way of life and a world wracked with dire or oppressive circumstances. ---- Tone: Noble means the circumstances of the world or story is/are easily changeable. Neutral Dark fantasy means the circumstances are neither easy nor difficult to change and they denote an often hellish way of life and a world wracked with dire or oppressive circumstances. --- Tone: Neutral means the circumstances are neither easy nor difficult to change. Grimdark fantasy means the circumstances are difficult to change and they denote an often hellish way of life and a world wracked with dire or oppressive circumstances. --- Tone: Grim means the circumstances are difficult to change.

Dark Fantasy Elements:

Characters

Characters are usually standard fantasy fare—kings and queens, knights, rogues, priests, farm boys, and the like—but they're often played as morally gray and, in some cases, outright evil.

They also often come with trappings such as ragged or bloodstained clothes, disheveled appearances, gaunt or malnourished physiques (with well-fed and possibly overweight, wealthy characters for contrast), and scars or other physical appearance changes that denote a rough life or past sickness (such as pockmarks).

Setting

Settings are likewise standard fantasy villages, castles, and such, but are frequently in disrepair if not ruins.

The area is often poor or destitute. Crime is often high, and if not rampant and open, then rampant and an open secret with the tacit approval of whoever’s in charge.

Tone & Mood

The tone in which the story is told usually has a dry, sardonic, cynical, or nihilistic effect (or a combination of these), and the mood is often sinister, despairing, melancholic, or otherwise negatively emotionally oriented.

Themes

Themes often include war, poverty, grief, hardship, abuse, violence, mental illness, racism (most often between fantasy species), blood feuds, and similar.

Point of View

The point of view is often third-person limited, but there's no rule about this.

Conflict

Conflicts are often aligned with the theme

There is a sense of futility or despair surrounding them that may not be easily overcome.

Plot Tropes

Plots often include a lot of characters as usual for fantasy.

They also tend to have a lot of moving parts, subplots, or frequent dips in morale—often with the bad(der) guys winning far more than they lose, and generally including devices that would feel very out of place.
