English can be a tricky language even for native speakers. There are so many exceptions you have to remember when you're speaking it. It is helpful for effective communication as it is deemed as the universal language. However, learning and improving your English skills does not have to be daunting. This blog is aimed to be a guide that can will help both new learners and native speakers alike. I hope you find it useful!

ᡣ𐭩 • GREETINGS ｡ AND INTRODUCTIONS ꪆৎ ˚.

This is the first step of communication. You must know how to politely and properly introduce yourself. This way, you will be able to initiate conversations with anyone.

Let's start with greetings!

There are several ways to greet someone. Here are some of them.

These greetings are the most common ones. They are often used when you want to greet someone in a friendly manner. Use these when you want to greet a friend, an acquaintance or even a stranger.

You can also greet someone based on the time of day. These types of greetings are most commonly used in formal settings. Although, they can still be used in a friendly, casual manner. These can be used to greet a higher up or a teacher.

Use this phrase for greeting someone you have never met before. Don't use these to greet someone you already know. They might think you are messing with them.

Moving on to more informal greetings; these are only used for greeting people you are close to. These greetings contain little to no respect so never use these to greet older people or higher ups.

Let me paint you a scenario. You are at a business event and your manager is making you meet new people for your promotion. What do you say? You already know how to greet them but how do you introduce yourself? Don't fret, I can help you with that as well!

After choosing the appropriate greeting to use for the person you are meeting for the first time, you introduce yourself. This can be done by simply stating your name. Diane, my name, is used here as an example.

When you're a tourist in an unfamiliar country, the last thing you want to be is lost. This is why asking for directions is important. The first part of this chapter will talk exactly about this topic.

Here are some example questions to ask for directions and locations. Being simple and straightforward is the best. Don't make your question too confusing or else the one you are asking will be confused as well.

This is a great question to ask when asking for directions. It will tell you how much distance your target location is. It's especially handy when travelling.

Remember that these are only examples and your questions can vary from time to time. The important part is you properly communicated your question.

Now that you have learned how to ask for directions, it is now time to learn how to give directions. There are a many methods to give someone directions. You can give them a pin-point location of their destination but chances are they can't even navigate properly in an unfamiliar place. It is best to guide them based on distinguishable landmarks. This is where prepositions come to play.

Here is an extensive list of prepositions you can use when giving out some directions.

i would like to emphasize that these infographics are guides, not something to be used religiously. Furthermore, I would like to give a lesson mostly focusing about the in-on-at prepositions as they are ones people then to get confused by.

As a general rule, in-on-at goes from general to specific respectively.
