Blast from the Past: The Great Escape of 2023

Ah, February 2023. A time when I found myself stuck in the dreariest of predicaments—a toxic job in London that was sapping the very essence of my soul. Now, I’ve had some questionable career choices, but this one? This one took the biscuit. The office atmosphere was more stifling than the Northern Line at rush hour, and the drama? Oh, the drama was worthy of an EastEnders Christmas special.

Picture this: I was already on my way out, serving my notice like a dutiful soldier, when the office manager, let’s call her P., decided to stir the pot. P. went running to the boss, claiming I had refused to do a handover. Which was interesting because, the day before, I had literally asked the boss if she wanted one, and she had dismissed the idea like I’d offered her a cold cup of tea. So when Boss Lady called me in a huff, ready to unleash the fury of a thousand HR policies, I calmly reminded her that she had said a handover wasn’t needed. And yet, somehow, I was still the villain in this poorly scripted workplace sitcom.

To add to the melodrama, my favourite colleagues—three wonderful souls—had also decided they’d had enough. One by one, they resigned, casualties of the same toxic nonsense. Funny how the best people always seem to be the first ones out the door. Coincidence? I think not.

By early 2023, my mental state was clinging on by a thread, so I did what any rational person would do—I fled. Like a protagonist in a feel-good redemption arc, I hopped on a plane to Japan, specifically Hokkaido. And let me tell you, the first two pictures I took in Sapporo felt like a symbolic exorcism of all the workplace evil I’d endured. The air was crisp, the snow glistened, and for the first time in months, I felt… free.

It was cold—bitterly so—but somehow, I felt warm inside. Sapporo, one of my favourite places on earth, welcomed me with open arms. The city, the food, the people—it was everything I needed to cleanse myself of the corporate misery I had left behind. And yes, while the world had almost fully reopened by then, I did have to prove I was vaccinated at security. Small price to pay for sweet, sweet liberation.

Looking back, February 2023 was an absolute nightmare. But that escape to Sapporo? That was the reset button I desperately needed. So, cheers to dodging toxic workplaces and booking spontaneous flights—may we all know when it’s time to pack our bags and never look back.

こんなに雪が少ない1月は記憶ないかも

地元空知は結構な豪雪地帯なんですが

先日帰省したら雪が少なくて拍子抜けしました。

とは言え日中のプラス気温で溶けて夜凍るので歩道はツルツルです

今回は加水分解したブランドストーンのソールを丸ごと作成交換しました。

アウトソールはVibram ARCTIC GRIPです。

ラバーウエルト、ラバーミッドソール(マッケイ)と次回のリソールもしやすい仕様です。

ブランドストーンのリソールは通常より高額なので買い替えを選ぶお客様も多いですがこのように出来ますのでご検討ください。
