Farley Granger and Robert Walker in Strangers on a Train (Alfred Hitchcock, 1951)
Cast: Farley Granger, Ruth Roman, Robert Walker, Leo G. Carroll, Patricia Hitchcock, Kasey Rogers, Marion Lorne, Jonathan Hale, Howard St. John, John Brown, Norma Varden, Robert Gist. Screenplay: Raymond Chandler, Czenzi Ormonde, Whitfield Cook, based on a novel by Patricia Highsmith. Cinematography: Robert Burks. Art direction: Ted Haworth. Film editing: William H. Ziegler. Music: Dimitri Tiomkin.
Strangers on a Train and North by Northwest (1959) are the best of Alfred Hitchcock's "wrong man" thrillers, in which the protagonist is suspected of a crime he didn't commit and spends most of the film trying to prove his innocence. They have something else in common: Both involve seduction scenes that take place on a train, except that in the latter film the seduction, of Roger Thornhill (Cary Grant) by Eve Kendall (Eva Marie Saint), is conventionally heterosexual. It's the gay subtext that marks Strangers on a Train from the very beginning, when we watch the feet of Guy Haines (Farley Granger) and Bruno Antony (Robert Walker) as they board the train and eventually bump up against each other in the club car. It's Bruno's flamboyance, especially the gleaming white of his brown-and-white spectator shoes, that we notice first, before we see his lobster-patterned tie and the gold tie clasp that proclaims his name. Even the straightest viewer gets it: Bruno is cruising. And he lights upon the handsome athlete, Guy. Bruno is blatant, and he's more than a bit obnoxious, as he invades Guy's space and continues to talk after Guy has signaled that he'd be happy to be left alone with his book. Yet somehow Guy, who on the surface of it seems the kind of man who would brush Bruno aside swiftly, lets himself be talked into having lunch in Bruno's compartment. Only when Bruno makes his shocking tit-for-tat murder proposal does Guy make his exit. I think that Hitchcock is suggesting that Guy is at least intrigued by the possibility of hooking up with another man. Guy's sexuality is brought into question by his marriage to the promiscuous Miriam (Kasey Rogers, then billed as Laura Elliott) and by the obvious motive of political ambition that has led him to the daughter of a senator, Anne Morton (Ruth Roman), who looks older than he does. (Roman was, in fact, three years older than Granger.) Hitchcock goes about as far as he can under the Production Code in making his characters gay, but even this little helps heighten the paranoia that's haunting Guy.  It was 1951, after all, when homosexuality was still considered "deviance" and ferreting it out became an obsession of the FBI and other watchdog groups. That said, Strangers on a Train works even if you prefer to ignore subtext and see Guy and Bruno as a conventional hero and villain. Walker's performance is one of the best in any Hitchcock film, and his failure to be nominated for it by the Academy remains a marked injustice. Strangers received only one nomination, a deserved one: for Robert Burks's cinematography, the first of 12 collaborations with Hitchcock. Also overlooked were editor William H. Ziegler and special effects creator Hans F. Koenekamp, who gave us one of the most exciting scenes in the movies: the runaway merry-go-round. Hitchcock was deservedly proud of the film, having fought with his first choice as screenwriter, Raymond Chandler, who retained credit after he was fired and the script was rewritten, under Hitchcock's guidance, by Czenzi Ormonde and the uncredited Ben Hecht and Alma Reville, who followed an initial adaptation by Whitfield Cook of Patricia Highsmith's novel. Roman's casting is the film's major weakness: The studio forced Hitchcock to cast her, and he made no attempt to turn her into a real actress. She quickly exhausts her limited supply of anxious looks, practically the only ones the screenplay gives her; perhaps only the fear of getting lipstick on her teeth kept her from actually biting her lip. But the film launched what some think was Hitchcock's greatest decade, culminating in the amazing trifecta of Vertigo (1958), North by Northwest, and Psycho (1960).

Pink and purple tones galore at twins’ christening!
Fans of royal fashion were delighted today, as the royal twins were christened! Pictured entering St. George’s chapel were the royal family, and the chosen godparents for the Prince and Princess. The choice for godparents again went to foreign royals, which meant a double dose of royal glamour!
(Put the post under this, as it’s quite long!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Arriving first were the godparents of Prince Zachary, the firstborn of the twins. The chosen godmother is Queen Alice of Vélia ( @kingdomofvellia ). The Queen, surprising many, didn’t show up alone! With permission of Queen Alexandra, Alice attended the event with her boyfriend, Prince Leo of Anya ! Prince Zac’s godfather is no stranger to the Farrington royal family: no one less than the Duke of Rochester ( @threesimsroyal ) ! The relationship between the couple and the Queen and Prince Consort goes way back, as far as the wedding in Alderaan or even the christening of their son, Kai.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Christopher’s godson: many were delighted to see him attend the event as well! While not pictured much together, insiders claim that Christopher is quite fond of him, and has sent him multiple gifts throughout the years. The Princess Royal arrived at his side, and the pair clearly enjoyed their conversation. Questions did rise on why Queen Alice could bring her boyfriend, but her namesake couldn’t. Will we see George Whitfield at any official event soon - and not because he has to work?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Princess Catherine’s godparents arrived next, lead by Lady Maria, one of the Queen’s best friends. The pair goes back to their secondary school period, with notable pictures surfacing while they were at university. Maria was already tipped as godmother with Prince Nate, but it seems like the Queen and Prince Consort focussed on their royal friends and connections first. The second godmother arrived together with the Queen Mother, namely Crown Princess Helena of Monaca ( @royalfamilyofgrimalldi ). The christening marked the first visit of the Princess, but it seems the start of a friendship, as the Queen is scheduled to attend her wedding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Prince Consort’s family followed the godparents and the Queen’s family, with the Duke and Duchess of Arbil leading. The Duchess joined the apparent ‘theme’ with going in a purple suit with skirt. Their daughter Lady Claire followed suit, with opting for a blue tone. And she didn’t arrive alone: Claire recently got engaged to David Drammond, the founder of popular social media platform Simstagram! No details on their wedding have been given, since they are private citizens, but insiders claim she will let paparazzi shoot from afar. We can’t wait to see the royals attend this wedding as well!
Tumblr media
Finally was the arrival of the Queen, Prince Consort and Prince Nathaniel! Once again Alexandra went with the traditional white attire for the mother of the children. Christopher went for a light blue suit, while the pair dressed their eldest son in a classic black suit with coat. Little Nate was spotted peering into his sibling’s prams, before the trio entered the premises.
Christening portraits are expected to be shared in the upcoming days.

Near Death Experience - Insights For Humanity
Published on Feb 19, 2020
If you enjoyed the message from this video please consider sharing or giving it thumbs up as it helps YouTubes algorithm to recommend it to people looking for this kind of information.
I would love to do more videos like these and explore different themes of the near-death experience for self-discovery. If you like what I'm doing and want to help support the work consider joining as a channel member.
DEATH IS JUST A TRANSITION
Many experiencers claim to have reunited with loved ones who have passed on as well as met other familiar figures that they didn't know on earth. Communication in this realm is instantaneous by way of a type of telepathy in which all thoughts are conveyed for instant understanding.
There may be a life review in which the experiencer is able to relive pivotal moments in their lives all while feeling the emotions from the participating people from the same event. One would feel the ripple effect of the negative actions as well as positive ones.
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
The most highlighted aspect of the NDE is the experience of unconditional love that one feels while entering the light. This is also is true for everyone on earth.
WHAT IS MY LIFE PURPOSE
According to NDE's we are here to fulfill a specific purpose unique to our beings. There doesn't seem to be a clear enough picture yet as to what our purpose is leading up to. Is it to learn a specific lesson on a soul level? or are we building up to something or a type of world evolution or perfect plan? We only have glimpses and pieces from different NDE accounts but it seems we are not supposed to understand it fully until we transition back home.
WE ARE ONE
Oneness and connectedness is a very common theme throughout the near-death experience stories. The idea that we are all connected to the source or God which includes plants, animals and everything else.

Do you understand my LOVE for this movie ??
I know I’ve been talking about the TMNT 2007 film A LOT lately (mostly because I just watched it really recently) but I just really adore so many things about it.
First off, the animation is fantastic. Incredible CGI work that does NOT get enough credit. I mean, this movie is just beautiful to look at. It has a great balance of dark to light that you would expect in a ninja turtles film. And I mean the rooftop fight scene between Raph and Leo. Bruh. That scene is breathtaking to look at. The attention to detail on the fighting between the boys and falling rain just makes my jaw drop every time. And I mean this film had to compete with a load of other CGI films that same year: Shrek the Third, Bee Movie, Ratatouille, Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, Meet the Robinsons, Surf’s Up ((good lord I didn’t realize how many great movies came out in 2007))
Secondly, the voice acting. I loooove this cast. Everyone fits their character’s voice so well.
I mean, we’ve got James Arnold Taylor (Leo), who is a phenomenal voice actor by the way. He provided Obi-Wan Kenobi’s voice in the Clone Wars series, and even Ratchet’s voice in the Ratchet and Clank franchise. Not kidding, if you get a chance to look him up, watch one of his voice acting videos cause he’s so entertaining. He has done so many of your childhood voices you didn’t even realize it was him.
And then there’s Nolan North (Raph). Wow. Do I even need to explain how fantastic of a voice actor he is ?? Honestly, I look up to this guy. He deserves so much praise. If you’re unaware of his other work, he provided the voice of the protagonist, Nathan Drake, in the Uncharted franchise. Also included in his 385 credits as an actor, he provided the voice behind the Kraang in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012 tv series. He is absolutely one of my favorite voice actors (if it ain’t already obvious) and such an inspiration.
Next we’ve got Chris Evans (Casey), who provides a wonderful voice to the laid-back vigilante we all love. As I’m sure you’re all aware, Chris Evans = Captain America. I don’t know much more of what he does in the booth rather than on screen, but he was (IMO) a great Casey Jones.
Then we have Mitchell Whitfield (Donnie), who I am actually very unfamiliar with. Looking at his IMDb page, however, some of you guys will probably know him from the 2014 Transformers animated series. Anyway, he played a great Donnie.
And Mako (Splinter) !! Ugh I love Mako’s voice acting. If you didn’t know, he was Uncle Iroh in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Honestly, what more reason do you need to like Mako ? He was an awesome fit for the old Japanese rat.
Other voice actors who have worked on other ninja turtle projects include the talented voices of John DiMaggio, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Fred Tatasciore who all portrayed the Stone generals. DiMaggio also provided the voice for Zeno and Pizza Face in the 2012 series. Also in the 2012 series, Kevin Michael Richardson went on to play the Shredder, with Fred Tatasciore as Rocksteady.
Even though I loved the story of TMNT with Leo battling conflicts within himself and striving to be the best leader for his team, and then Raph striving to lead the team himself after the loss of Leo, but taking it upon himself because the team just didn’t feel right without Leo. And then the both of them just using their own conflicts against each other. I really do love that. I mean yeah, I’m a sucker for a traditional Leo and Raph quarrel. However, there were obviously some characters that were left in the dark a bit (*cough *cough Mikey *cough Donnie) but that’s something that could have been altered with a sequel. Now, I realize the storyline isn’t the best and that’s probably one of the main reasons it was never greenlit for a sequel. But damn, if I don’t love this movie so much.
Anyway, I guess that’s all I have for now. But really, I could talk about this movie for hours. So thanks for coming to my TED talk ~

You know a movie that handled its celebrity cast really, really well? TMNT.
As in the 2007 CGI movie. You know who the celebrities played? The supporting cast. And they were really well cast. They had Sarah Michelle Geller playing April (who’s a badass in this version), Chris Evans as Casey, Patrick freakin’ Stewart as the villain (not Shredder, and granted this villain sucks but Stewart elevates him), and they even had Lawrence Fishburne doing a short narrating intro. Their voices matched the roles perfectly. You may also notice not one of them were playing the Turtles themselves. That honour fell to these guys:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Mikey Kelley (Mikey lol), Nolan North (Raph), James Arnold Taylor (Leo), and Mitchell Whitfield (Donnie).
Now granted, if you’re a voice actor nerd (and I am), you’ll know these people. Especially Nolan North and James Arnold Taylor. But they’re not household names, and they especially weren’t in 2007. The general public wouldn’t recognise them like they recognise a lot of celebrities, so they don’t come with any connotations relating to their other roles. They’re just really experienced character actors. This meant they could, y’know, be their characters, and the result is they’re my favourite voice cast ever for the TMNT, and they only played them once. Nolan North and Mikey Kelley are my favourite Raph and Mikey, and James Arnold Taylor and Mitchell Whitfield are my second-favourite Leo and Donnie. I adore these guys as the TMNT, and I wish we got an entire series with them in the roles.
This is how effective voice actors can be when they’re cast well. For animated movies, stick to character actors. Stick to people who know what they’re doing. If you’re going to cast an actor who specialises in live-action, make sure they’ve got voice experience, like Jack Black. That’s the reason he sounds fine in the Mario movie.
Chris Pratt only worked as Emmett in the Lego Movie because 1) he’s specifically just a guy and 2) he was a brand new character without 30 years of history behind him and an equally iconic voice he’d had for the last 26.
I hope the Mario movie fiasco helps studios learn that celebrity voicecasts only receive vitriol when they’re poorly casted and distract from the actual characters and movie.
When you watch Shrek or Megamind you don’t spend the whole movie actively aware you’re listening to Mike Meyers and Cameron Diaz, or Will Ferrell and Tina Fey. Fuck it man even when you watch Despicable Me, Steve Carell does a good job of being the character. Chris Pratt is just like himself? Doing an impression of your friend from New York’s dad? And it actively pulls you out of the movie because you’re so aware of that! Good voice actors do the exact opposite and create a believable character and performance!!
Celebrity voice casts are not inherently bad, studios just do not know how to cast them!!! Fuck!!!!!
