스튜디오360 경음악단의 『예언(The Prophet)』을 디자인했다. 한국의 민요를 재해석한 트랙과 재즈와 사이키델릭/소울을 결합한 오리지널 트랙 등을 수록.

『The Prophet』 is a project commissioned by the Asia Culture Center Foundation to Studio360 Group, led by Soulscape. In the 1960s and 1970s, Korea was unable to produce an “authentic” jazz record, but there were some outstanding works that seemed to “prophesy” a new glocal music in the future. 『The Prophet』 is an album that collects and draws inspiration from these works, featuring reinterpretations of Korean folk songs, original compositions that combine jazz with psychedelic/soul, and cinematic moods reminiscent of old Korean film scores.

I wanted to incorporate Korean elements into the design in a way that represents something emerging from everyday life and common people, rather than something passed down from high cultural authorities. In other words, I wanted the album cover to embody a more everyday, lived-in, Korean vernacular design. In old Korean restaurants, side dishes and traditional Korean liquor were often served on floral-printed nickel-silver trays. I believe that the “flower tray” is a mise-en-scène symbolizing Korean pop culture and folklore—the joys and sorrows of the Korean people, and the tune of old folk songs. So, I wanted to recreate this mood in the album cover design. Along with its rustic beauty, it also conveys the meaning that the prophecies (seeds) of the past and the quaint charm of folklore have come to full bloom in the present.
