Uam Historical Park (우암사적공원) a historic park in Daejeon, Korea

“This is where Uam Song Si-yeol (1607-1689) built Heungnangseodang and Namdanjeongsa to study with many of his disciples and to work on the plan to expedite to conquor the north, there also were Jeongjeolseowon and Jonghosa to commemorate him. Song Si-yeol’s ancestor’s hometown is Eunjin, and his childhood name was Yeongbo, and his penname, Uam. He passed a state exam during the reign of King Injo, and was appointed to Ijapanseo (the minister of General Management), later to Uuijeong and to Jwauijeong (the prime minister). After his death, his tablet was placed at the shrine for Confucius. Now there remain Namganjeongsa, Gigukjeong and wooden printing blocks of Songjadajeon here. Uam Sajeok park was made here to commemorate Song Si-yeol and his integrity and patriotism.”
