the words hit rhaenyra with the force of a physical blow, and she stumbles backwards momentarily until her balance is regained, as if struck. a hand strays upwards to clutch tightly to the velvet of her nightgown, clinging to the material as if she expects to wake up from this dream at any point, and she doesn't want to. how long has she waited for alicent to ask her this? how long has she waited to whisk her off on dragonback, to lead her to a world where it is only them? the young girl within her who has never truly recovered from such heartbreak, such betrayal, grasps desperately at the shell of her body, as if begging to break free.
