From a tour of Japan in February with 坂本建志 Takeshi Sakamoto-drums, 葉政廷 Tim Yeh-keys, and Daiki Yasukagawa 安ヵ川大樹-bass/bandleader, and singer 阿丹 Dan Hsueh (薛詒丹)

At least 2 of those names should look familiar. We have posted Takeshi and Tim in various combinations (like this one from a few days ago). 

阿丹 Dan Hsueh (薛詒丹) has sung with some of the TW jazz cats, but I don’t see her in my FYCI search.  (She also goes by Tanya Hsueh).  She sings in a duo with guitarist 翁光煒 Wico Weng (Dan & Wico), and she is a member of A Capella group Moment Singers.  Let’s hear something from Dan & Wico:

4 short songs from Draft 4tet at Sappho w/ 胡瑜芳 (AnGu ‘Angel’ Hu)-vocal, 葉政廷 (Tim Yeh)-piano, 張為智(大頭 Da-Tou Wei Chih ‘Jamie’ Chang), and Takeshi Sakamoto on drums. (sometimes they play as a Draft Trio)

AnGu’s YouTube channel posts a lot of great TW jazz, including several different projects/ensembles. Even if she isn’t singing, she’s still a fan, still going to the clubs and uploading beautiful performances and unique combinations of musicians, such as TwoBassHit.  This is a group w/ bassists 大頭 Da-Tou & 劉育嘉 Jack Liu, 郭俊育 Kuo Chun-Yu-keys, and Takeshi Sakamoto again on the kit.  You can go back to YT and see a song with both bassists playing their traditional upright instruments, but this cover of a Chainsmokers song has some really cool things going on, including some Talk Box/Vocoder (I dunno what he’s using, tbh) singing by Da-Tou:

“Two Bass Hit” is the name of a Miles Davis song, but with TW peeps being so into baseball, it wouldn’t surprise me if that also figured into the band name (Double aka a 2-bass hit)
