9m88 (Baba) Joanne Baba Jazz/HipHop singer covering a 方大同 Khalil Fong song for Yuran iCover Session.  I think she’s got 陳昱潔 Amy Chen-gtr, 石哲安 Stone Shih-bass, 林俊宏 Jun Lin-drums, 吳至傑 CJ-keys.   

They cleverly sneaked a little snippet of John Coltrane’s Giant Steps in the middle, very cool! =D

Here’s the original song from several years ago:

Baba is from Taiwan but in NYC for school (her fb bio says: Studies Vocalist at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music).  She comes back to TW to do some gigging on her breaks.  (A ‘Fridays’ tour in Taipei last month)

She was a guest on a recent song by rapper 王之佑 Leo Wang (Gigantic Roar 巨大的轟鳴):

Baba was on the bill when Gigantic Roar played at PIANOS in NYC last fall, and that was also when they filmed the MV in Brooklyn.

The debut full album (不完整的村莊 The Village) from 淺堤 shallow levée is now out, and I’ve been looking forward to this for some time!   =D

They posted a 3-song ‘live session’ (w/ brief intros) a few days ago, we posted the audio from one track about a month ago, and the first actual MV a coupla weeks ago.

UPDATE: I should also add that the new album includes both songs (Daydreaming & Wish Upon A Star) from their 2019 陷眠 single. =D
