Here we go again with my October Immersion Overview! It was admittedly a bit slow this month since I caught a cold, but I made up for it towards the end of the month.

Surprisingly, I was able to keep up and maintain my 1 million character reading streak; I might have gotten to the point of really integrating reading into my daily goals. My listening, although I have been spending less and less time with it, haven't necessarily fallen behind, since the visual novels I've been reading provides ample listening practice from the voiced lines.

DRAMAS, TV SHOW, & YOUTUBE

Speaking of listening, some of the things I did listen to were a bit of a wildcard; new mefia and even dubs! It would be great to continue and incorporate both more in the future.

プロミス・シンデレラ

This is what I watched when I wasn't feeling too dizzy. It's an interesting take on the common Cinderella concept, and I enjoyed watching this. Might be warming up to the tsundere character trope, too.

イカゲーム

First time watching a Korean drama dubbed in Japanese. Pretty impressed at how good the dub is; it also feels really easy to comprehend which is great.

Don't know why this is the first show I picked though, besides people being incredibly hyped for it and I just needed everybody to stop begging me to watch it too, since there are so many other Kdramas out there that I'd prefer to watch. Anyway, this plotline is not a new concept, so I really find it unfortunate that the writer struggled to sell this earlier.

If you're still hyped about this show, here's a great video about several Japanese anime/manga series tackling the same concept. I swear, some of these are even better.

VS嵐

Been wanting to see episodes of this for ages. It's a pretty easy and funny watch, and as one would expect from Japanese TV, a bit of a sensory overload. I miss 嵐. (´Д｀)

YOUTUBE

I barely talk about Youtube here, since I mostly just watch random videos or 実況s of games I like. I started to watch a bit of 逆転裁判 since I thought I could easily pick up some workplace vocabulary maybe. It's been pretty simple so far though, but it's nice to use my brain a little bit more as I deduce with the let's player. (I've never played this game.)

VISUAL NOVELS

I read 1.24 million characters this month which astounds me, since the majority of my reading happened during the last two weeks of the month.

Had to use the good ol' pomodoro method to make sure I would hit my reading goal for the month, and it paid off! Been using 1 hour concentration, 5 minute short break, and 10 minute long break every 3 pomodoro rounds and it has been pretty effective for me so far.

Knowing this, it also means that if I didn't get sick earlier on, I could've easily doubled these numbers. Thankful for the sudden immersion break, but it really is something to think about and try to execute for November hopefully!

Reading visual novels has been so much fun, but I would also like to try and get back to reading in 縦書き and just generally reading novels again; I know I need practice, and I can definitely tell my speed for them has been falling behind!

I think this is the least content I've immersed in so far, but what I did immerse in was not necessarily poor quality either.
