—— Please tell us if there are any scenes, lines, or even favorite scenes that caught your heart in The Final.

Umehara : The scene where Kureno confesses to Tohru regarding Akito.

It was a very sad scene, where Kureno was overflowing with feelings that he had been holding by himself, and yet he says that he's choosing to continue to be by Akito's side, it was very impressive.

It was very difficult to build up the emotions during the recording.

—— Now that the recording format has changed, unlike the previous seasons, how was the recording site? Please tell us what you have been careful about in terms of direction and acting throughout the season.

Umehara : I participated (on the recording) from the middle, and I was relieved to find a peaceful atmosphere on site.

The recording format has changed, but before that we were recording with everyone, and we were able to record the characters in dialogue at the same time as much as possible, so there was no difficulty.

When I was acting as Kureno, I tried to create an atmosphere where he always has something behind him, even when he is talking normally, he has a lot of lonely expressions.

—— The gentle Kureno, was trapped by the existence of Akito in a way. But when he met "Uo-chan (Uotani Arisa)", he was changed. Umehara-san, what do you think of both "Akito" and "Uo-chan" as the ones who were important to Kureno?

Umehara : It is true that Kureno was trapped in his relationship with Akito. But Kureno himself sees his role and the meaning of living as being by her (Akito's) side, I think that it's a kind of a codependent relationship.

Of course, that wasn't the best choice for Kureno personally. And I think when he met Uotani Arisa, he realized it. Uotani is the one who pulls Kureno up, and all he needs to do is to take the first step.

—— Please tell us what you have learned through the works of "Fruits Basket", and your role as Sohma Kureno. Also, what do you think about the main reason why "Fruits Basket" is loved by people of all ages?

Umehara : I felt that unconditional kindness does not necessarily benefit the other person or the person in question.

Each of the characters in Fruits Basket has their own story to tell, and it's the depth of the story that makes it so appealing.

And I think they loved the main character Tohru's purity and courageous personality that he (Kureno) met in person.

—— Kureno, who appears on the 2nd Season, now that we have reached The Final, do you have a message for the character you played?

Umehara : I wish for Kureno's happiness. It's good to live for someone's sake, but I think living the way you wanted to was nice as well.
